“That means she will suffocate if it’s closed for too long,” Miranda mentioned cautiously.

“There is enough air inside the room for at least a few hours, which is much longer than what drowning would take. Yes, should the ship sink, she shall drop to the bottom of the ocean and be unable to get out unless someone fishes out the capsule. It would not be a pretty death, so let’s hope we do not face the eventuality,” Elias confirmed.

“Weren’t you supposed to stay docked in Xona?” Miranda contested.

“That’s the plan, but you know how things work around the Order. We’ve got a big war coming up, so while I do not expect us to depart soon, it might happen. The timeline I’ve set for redoing Luna’s spirit bindings should have her in the recovery phase by the time the fleet goes into action.”

“What effects will the redone bindings have on me?” Luna asked. She didn’t want to show how much the idea disturbed her. Normally, she couldn’t die by suffocation… but she will not be her normal self soon.

“You shall become a regular werewolf, whatever that is like. From what I understand from the records, you shall have better control over your skills and behavior, but at the same time you might be challenged by the wolf spirit inside should your decisions conflict with his. It will not affect you for as long as you are sated, but it will try to take over once your life is in serious danger or you are starved. In terms of combat power, your partial transformations should get easier, but full transformation will become much, much harder. That’s what the records indicate, yet since I lack any personal experience with werewolves we will have to see what the reality is once the process is complete,” Elias revealed.

You are in me all the time now, aren’t you?

  ‘Yeah.’

Why aren’t you stopping me from doing this?

‘I will consume you if we keep going without changing anything.’

  Isn’t that what you want?

  ‘I used to.’

  What happened?

‘I consumed my previous host and it wasn’t what I imagined. I couldn’t turn into a human shape by myself, so I was just hiding in forests until I ambushed the wrong caravan.’

I would almost say you care about me.

‘You have been feeding me well. Keep going and we will keep being friends.’

  Want something special?

‘You know what I like… gimme a nice feast and we can jump right into this.’

You like the comfort, don’t you? Warm bed, comfortable clothes, sweet sex… you got spoiled, didn’t you?

  ‘Maybe a little.’

Why haven’t you tried to eat Miranda?

‘I love her smell and the taste of her snatch… why would I eat her when I can lick her every night like an infinite lollipop?’

So, you can feel through me… I always wondered.

‘The same way you feel through me when you eat humans.’

Hmmm… we really don’t deserve her, do we? Think we should be nicer to her?

  ‘Yes, you should.’

Nah, she likes us being rough. Why do you think she likes it?

‘Dunno, it has likely something to do with the whole Faye thing.’

  You aren’t bad… for a wolf.

  ‘Says the lowly human.’

“So… I will eat by being fed, defecate over myself to be cleaned by your men while hanging around immobilized and naked. For about two years, give or take,” Luna summarized.

“I am afraid so,” Elias confirmed.

I was hoping I misunderstood something… you know what? I’ve changed my mind; I don’t want to do this anymore.

  ‘Then you will die.’

At least I will live happily with Miranda until I do, which is better than living with losing her.

‘What do you think she will do if you walk out of this? Tell you ‘It’s fine, you are pathetic little shit, but I like you anyway?’ She will dump your ass the second she senses you got scared.’

  I hate you.

  ‘Be my guest.’

“When can we start?” Luna asked coldly.

“I need three days to get things ready.”

“Please do so. I want to get this over with.”

“Honestly… I totally expected you to get cold feet,” Miranda exhaled as they got back to her room in the Palai barracks.

I did. I want to dig myself a hundred feet into the ground and just stay there. But I can’t, because you won’t be there. There is no way I could have ever done this without you.

“You keep underestimating me… it makes me want to be extra mean tonight,” Luna mused.

“Oh, does it? What you gonna do? Run to daddy for help?” Miranda poked her.

You really know how to ask for it.

“Why are you still dressed, by the way?” Luna asked sweetly and sat down on the bed.

  “Why wouldn’t I be?”

“I can’t unlock you while you are dressed, can I?”

Miranda went to Luna for a long passionate kiss; then she slowly undressed while she kept touching her as much as she could. Luna took out the toy box from under the bed with her feet.

“That’s better. Now, before I let you get some air, I’m gonna have some fun with the ropes,” Luna smiled and motioned Miranda to get in the bed. “Actually, why don’t you tie yourself up? Hands behind the back, feet under the ass,” Luna proposed and threw Miranda a strong rope.

  “Feeling lazy?” Miranda tried.

“I want to see what you can do. Tie yourself up so you cannot get out. I will revise it and decide what to do with you based on what I see… so you better impress me.”

Miranda went on to tie herself like Luna instructed. Luna grabbed the second rope and went on to inspect her.

“Who taught you to tie people up like this? Or did you do such a shitty job on purpose?” Luna slashed and went on to do her own stuff over it. Half an hour later, she was sure Miranda could not get out of it. Luna went on to kiss her. She cuddled into her and enjoyed the moment. Miranda’s skin was so smooth and soft that she just couldn’t stop touching it.

“How about unlocking me?” Miranda asked sweetly as the tension had built up within her. Her thighs were glistening, pupils wide and body burning.

Luna took out a ball gag and put it into Miranda’s mouth.

“Later. Now I need to handle some stuff. When I come back, I expect to see you exactly like this. Move or loosen the rope and you aren’t getting unlocked for the next three days,” Luna commanded sharply and dressed up. Miranda was struggling and shouting something into the ball gag. Luna enjoyed every second of it before she left through the window.

I said I would be extra mean tonight; I wonder what she had expected, Luna turned to her inner self as she dashed through the town a few hours later.

  ‘That was quite a feast.’

Well, I did promise to feed you something special.

‘Royal bull farm… you never cease to impress me.’

  Why… thank you.

‘Let’s just hope Salazar doesn’t connect this to us; else we are in trouble. Where are we going now, by the way?’

To check if Yen is in town.

  ‘That’s a little excessive.’

We are a werewolf… we are supposed to be mean. Remember?

‘We are supposed to be loyal.’

  Since when are we loyal?

‘I am a wolf. Wolves are some of the most loyal creatures in the world.’

Well, I’m not, deal with it.

  ‘You are terrified, aren’t you?’

  Maybe.

‘Goofing around isn’t going to change what will happen, whatever it may be.’

No, but it keeps my mind occupied with better stuff than the future; it works for me.

‘You can’t keep hiding from your problems, Lunariel.’

  Watch me.

Soon enough, Luna made it to The Lair, which was the largest and most infamous club in Xona. She figured that if there were a way to find Yen in this
monster of a city, it would be here. It didn’t take long for her to catch the scent of her perfume, one which was strong enough for her to track.

Now, look at that… beautiful black hair, amazing figure, bright red lipstick and the divine smell of whatever perfume she keeps using.

“I’ve missed you!” Luna leaped at Yen from behind and caught her into a strong hug.

“LUNA! Now that’s more than a pleasant surprise,” Yen turned around and caught Luna’s face. She leaned in for a kiss. Luna jumped at her hungrily, she chased her tongue around like a hungry wolf chases a rabbit.

“Fancy a drink?” Yen smiled warmly at Luna.

“Always. Two raging volcanoes!” Luna ordered once they got to the bar.

“Where have you been? You really disappeared after Redwall,” Luna tossed up happily.

“I had to hide for a time; I still do need to stay low, in fact. I’ve managed to piss off the count and he’s being unreasonably persistent about it. What about you? What have you been up to?”

“I got into some trouble, but it’s all good now. I will be leaving soon though. I have found a way to help with my… one of my personal problems. It will take a while,” Luna admitted.

  “How soon?” Yen asked softly.

I hate lying to you, Yen… but not that much.

“Tomorrow morning, I’m just passing through the city, really.”

“Then we need to make the most of the time we have,” Yen smiled charmingly and Luna felt her heart starting to melt.

Why am I so much into you…?

“We sure do… I hope your dick making magic didn’t get worse from lack of practice,” Luna taunted.

“Dick making magic? Really? Blood magic is one of the most difficult paths of magic in existence and you call it dick making magic? How exactly do you plan to make up for this insolence? Unless, of course, you desire to have a very long night with my best blocking potion and strongest pleasure whip,” Yen breathed poisonously.

“How long does the best blocking potion last now?”

“Three to four weeks, I’ve got a special unreleased edition,” Yen grinned, baring her teeth.

“You always have the best stuff… I would better be repentant then,” Luna caught Yen’s neck and sucked on it savagely, leaving behind a sharp hickey. Luna enjoyed the soft moan Yen left out and slid down her body.

“In public?” Yen asked and raised her eyebrows, “I guess you really haven’t come to chat tonight.”

Luna ignored her and caught her thighs. With a swift jerk, she pulled Yen to the edge of the bar stool and spread her legs.

No panties… not a single hair, perfect look, moisture, warmth and fragrance. I wish mine would be this perfect one day.

Luna plunged her head into Yen’s crotch and put her tongue to work.

  Luna

“You’ve had enough, lass,” the innkeeper remarked when Luna pointed at a bottle of spirits.

She was sitting on a bar at the seediest inn she could find, sitting and drinking. Several empty bottles stood before her. She tried to form a sentence, but her mouth failed her and all it released was incoherent mumble. Luna didn’t let it discourage her, pulled out a few golden coins from her pocket and slammed them on the bar.

The innkeeper sighed, took the coins and handed her the bottle. She downed half of it in one swig.

‘Drinking will not get you away from your problems,’ the monster inside of her remarked.

  I can’t know until I try.

‘You don’t have to try every bad habit to verify it’s bad. Remember how it went when you got into drugs?’

  Right!

Luna reached into one of her many inner pockets, pulled out a couple of molds of a black substance and swallowed them.

‘That’s not how I meant it.’

  Hihihihihi.

“You could have said you need some time for yourself,” a gentle voice interrupted her thought as two arms caught her from behind. Miranda’s perfume pierced through her nose; the hug made her mind go blank for the moment.

Wait, shit! She wasn’t supposed to find me! She was supposed to be tied up and waiting for me!

‘How long did you expect her to wait?’

At least till the morning, it’s still dark outside!

‘That window on the wall is a painting, we’re underground, remember?’

This isn’t fair; it looks too realistic!

‘There is a blue bear drawn inside it.’

See? Too realistic! Anyway, now hush, I need to concentrate and form the best excuse I can think of.

Luna focused. “Grar hhhrrllllggg rrharr ssrrrzzzzz,” came out of her mouth.

  ‘Brilliant choice of words.’

  Shut up!

“You really don’t know when to stop, do you?” Miranda sweetly whispered into her ear.

  “Slllllrhhhgggg,” Luna grunted.

  Shut up!

  ‘I said nothing.’

  But you wanted to!

“Are you paid?” Miranda asked the innkeeper.

  “Yes, madam.”

“Let’s go home,” she told Luna warmly.

What home? I don’t have any… and neither do you. You just live in whatever Palai barracks is the closest.

Luna nodded and tried to stand up. Her legs failed her and she just collapsed from the chair.

Miranda caught her mid-fall and lifted her over her shoulder.

Luna didn’t even bother to resist and let her half-carry her up the stairs. When Miranda opened the door to the outside, light pierced through Luna’s eyes. It took her long minutes to adjust to the light. The city was in the afternoon rush. She was at a loss for words.

Miranda calmly carried her all the way to the barracks. She washed her and gently put her in the bed.

  I really don’t deserve her.

“Feeling better?” Miranda asked as Luna woke up.

“I’m sorry, I… I don’t know what got into me.”

“Are you sure you want to do this?”

“I do… I just thought it would be; I don’t know, easier?” Luna exhaled. There was no way for her to hide her doubts. They were still clawing at her insides. Cold, vicious and relentless. What if I die there? What if Miranda finds someone else in the meantime and I never see her again? What if it turns me into someone else and she doesn’t like me anymore? What if I won’t want her anymore? Was this my last night with her? Will this be our last meal together? Are we about to have our last kiss? Then I get caught in the cell, she leaves and, two years from now when I get out, she will be gone and I will be alone lost in the world that had two years to change. Two years… that’s so impossibly long.

“Stop overthinking it!” Miranda commanded sharply. “Elias is good at what he does. He will do it properly and he always finishes whatever he starts. You’re gonna have your bindings redone and be ready for the fun part of this war.”

“War? Come to think of it, Elias mentioned something like that.”

“The Order is going on a warpath. The Holy War to avenge the death of archbishop Nashimaeal is the story this time around. But you don’t have to worry about it for now; this will happen after you are done with the bindings,” Miranda explained.

  “I know… I am sorry, I’m just a bit rattled,” Luna breathed.

I’ve spent past two months preparing for this. I cannot back out now. I will not back out now. I wouldn’t be able to face Miranda if I did. Worse, I wouldn’t even be able to face James. Where are you, James? I could really use some moral support right now. Or you could at least punch me in the face and laugh at me how pathetic I am… that would be fine as well.

“It’s alright, are you sure you can do it?”

“Yeah, let’s go,” Luna smiled back.

  They went to see Elias.

“Your cabin is here, leave all your things in and put the white cloak over yourself afterward. I shall wait outside,” Admiral Elias la Grace explained and left Luna with Miranda to do what th
ey had to.

“Well… guess that’s it,” Luna smiled sadly and started undressing.

“Not looking back, are you?” Miranda asked as she put her hand on Luna’s shoulder.

“No. Past is just a shadow of our former selves. We can see our reflection within it and want to think it means something. That it should guide us. It’s a lie. We look to the past for it is easy to see there what we want to see. Past is just that… past. It haunts us, inspires us… but only the future judges us. That’s what James said before he did my first bindings. I wasn’t even four years old, but I still remember it like it was tomorrow,” Luna started weakly.

“Why are you telling me this now?”

“Because… because I want someone to know,” Luna sagged to a chair as she started crying. Miranda wrapped around to hold her from behind. “If I die there… I want someone to know… to know who I was.”

“You are NOT going to die here, Luna!” Miranda exclaimed resolutely. Luna gripped her hands strongly and tried to recompose herself if only a little.

“For me to survive, James removed all blood from my body and replaced it with his. But that wasn’t enough… binding a werewolf spirit to a child is impossible. So, he used a part of his soul to make it happen… he made me his daughter in every way there is,” Luna continued.

Miranda held her tight and whispered in her ear “Don’t worry… it will be alright.”

“This,” Luna reached into her armor and pulled out a wax sealed envelope. “This is my letter to James in case I die here. Please keep it… it will literally save your life if something happens to me,” Luna started sobbing again.

“I can take care of myself,” Miranda breathed but took the letter. It was sealed with a symbol of a rose.

“James was the great general of the armies of the old kingdom, of the Immortal King himself. He used to tell me stories of battles past as fairy tales while putting me to sleep. I don’t know how old he is but by his stories; he is at least six hundred years old. James fought and slaughtered dragons, conquered over half of the world and wiped out eight entire races. I… I can’t express how much he and what he had done for me means to me. He is way more than a father to me… and I really cannot go in without being sure you know how important it is. If something happens to me, James will find out. Then he will find you and he will kill you if you don’t have the letter because he will think it was your fault. He still might… but this is the most I can do,” Luna explained.
