by Joan Opyr

  “You, me, Belvedere, and Beauregarde?”

“That sounds good,” she said. “For now, anyway.”

“And if we do that other thing?”

“You’re breaking the news to Edna.”

  About the author

Joan Opyr is a Southern expatriate living in exile in

Moscow, Idaho. By day, she’s a pre-nursing student at

Lewis-Clark State College; by night, she’s a CNA on an

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Unit. When does she write,

you might ask? Typically when she’s procrastinating on a

school assignment or doesn’t want to study for a test. And in

the summer—she always writes in the summer.

Joan is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a

BA and MA in English and has been, for the past 18 years,

ABD for her PhD at Te Ohio State University. Her area of

study is Old English with a sideline in feminist theory and

Foucauldian analysis. Will she ever finish her dissertation?

Never say never. It could happen. But it probably won’t, as

every time she sits down to write about Beowulf, she gets an

  idea for another novel.

Joan has a wife, two kids, two dogs, and a guinea pig named Tim.
