Vampires of the Sun Page 4

by Andrea Glenn

He crouched in fear, cowering with dread. Death was seconds away. He was sure of it.

Olivia walked to him and took his hand firmly in hers and yanked him into the oncoming light. He screamed in horror, closing his eyes and waiting for the terrible burning to begin. But it never happened.

Instead he sensed glorious warmth caressing his naked body. He opened his eyes and looked down to see his hand in the bright sunshine. As he watched, the white skin began to gleam pink, alive.

Tentatively, he moved his whole body into the light. It was warm and wonderful. It embraced him with its glow. “I can walk in the daylight,” he murmured in amazement.

He looked up at the hot sun as it sat amid a brilliant blue sky. His body heated and warmed. He sucked the mild air and filled his cold lungs.

Olivia was watching him through narrowed eyes. She slid a hungry glance across his splendid naked form, savoring the broad shoulders, slim hips, and strong thighs. His dark hair hung to his shoulders. “Sebastian. The sight of you fills me with desire."

He turned to face her. “And it must be obvious what the sight of you does to me.” Advancing toward her, he pushed her down onto the soft blanket of leaves. He moved on top of her soft warm body and roughly entered her.

"Oh! It's so glorious when we are joined this way.” She gasped as he thrust into her. As desire mounted she screamed aloud into the misty morning air sending flocks of startled birds flapping toward the sky. “Yes! Now ... this is.... it! My Love ... my Sebastian..."

They climaxed together, rolling in the warm leaves, which clung to their bodies. The sunlight was engulfing them, making them perspire in the gentle morning air. They lay for a while in one another's arms, listening to the birds and their own breathing. It wasn't long before Sebastian's acute ears picked up the sound of a car, not very far away. Jumping to his feet, he grabbed her hand. “Come."

"Sebastian!” She laughed as he raced, dragging her through the tangle of woods. “What has possessed you? Is it the heat from the sun?” Olivia felt her cheeks flush at the thought of them running around outside nude, still smelling of earth and sex, raw and wild. She looked at her vampire and her breath was caught in her throat as she marveled at how beautiful he was.

"Look.” Sebastian laughed, pointing to a car moving slowly down the street. “We must feed.” With a joyful shriek they surprised the four young people sitting in a convertible. The thugs looked as though they were up to no good. They swooped upon the terrified misfits and devoured the plentiful, hot, and very luscious blood. They greedily drank every single drop.

They walked back towards the cave. “Sebastian, please forgive me for deceiving you as I did, but I knew I couldn't just walk up to you and tell you what I had on my mind. It's not the same with us. Things don't work the way they do in the world of the mortals, you know. I do love you, and I always have. I know that sounds mad to you, but it's true. I feel as though I was destined to be with you."

Sebastian turned and gazed down into Olivia's upturned face, running his finger along her jaw line. “You are forgiven, but no more lies. We have a long time to be together, and I want to trust you.” He kissed her lips, tasting the sweet fluid she had just consumed. Hand in hand they strolled back through the woods, the dappled sunlight playing on their naked skin, as they made their way to the beach. The sand was deliciously warm on their feet.

"Do you think you could come to love me, Sebastian?"

  He paused, and smiled. “Yes."

Olivia felt her heart almost leap from her chest. She had no idea things would work out as well as they did. She was finally where she wanted to be. “I shall do whatever I can to make you happy."

"You've already given me an incredible gift, Sweet One.” He squeezed her hand.

  "I can do more."

He cleared his throat, suddenly feeling overwhelmed by emotion. “I'm impressed.” He teased her, trying to change the mood between them “Your induction into the ways of a vampire has been effortless. You seem to relish it, in fact."

"And, My Love, your re-acquaintance with—shall we say carnal delights—has been met with equal gusto."

"Vampires that copulate in the sun!” He took her into his arms and whirled her around.

"Nothing can harm us. We are gods! Are we not?” Olivia laughed, throwing back her head as he spun her.

Sebastian felt a sharp pain of realization hit him in the stomach. “No, hardly gods.” He returned her to the ground gently.

"We will be together for always?"

"If you behave yourself!” He laughed, thinking about how he had hoped this witch could help cure him, or help end his miserable existence.

"I wonder what the future holds for us. We have much to teach each other, and we have a great deal to learn. We should travel. I have heard much about America lately. I want to go back there, Sebastian. Think about it, a new life befitting our new powers."

"It sounds tempting.” He looked out over the sea. “I'll have my man book us passage on the next ship. I don't like to fly."

She giggled loudly. “Book passage on a ship? Vampires have need of such sluggish transport?"

Sebastian turned and brushed a lock of hair that had blown across Olivia's delicate face. “Ahh! You travel by broomstick, no doubt?"

Olivia stuck out her tongue. “I will ignore that statement. But I thought vampires could move through the air?” She watched Sebastian as he spoke, so sure of himself, so regal. She knew her life with him would be an adventure and he would surprise her day in and day out.

"We can fly, but it exhausts us. And a journey across an ocean that vast would be almost impossible. You will enjoy a sea voyage, My Dear. The salty air gives one an incredible appetite."

Olivia nodded and looked down. “We should clothe ourselves first, don't you think? We can't just walk around in the nude, at least not on this beach.” Her eyes traveled over Sebastian and she was once again struck by her attraction to the man that saved her life, for without him she would have to face the world alone and unloved, and that was something she couldn't live with any longer.

Sebastian looked down, horrified. They were both naked in the daylight, walking along the beach. “Yes, well, being in the sunlight will take some getting used to.” He smiled at the creature that saved him from his misery.

"It is early. No one is stirring, Love.” Olivia giggled and encircled his waist, nuzzling her face under his chin.

He smiled, relaxing somewhat, and kissed the top of her head. He wasn't used to being in the sun. Suddenly, he pushed her away and looked down into her eyes. She fascinated him and made him smile. She had given him the fabulous gift of warmth and light.

"So, to America?” She practically jumped up and down.

Sebastian nodded. He thought briefly of Miakoda. This could be the time he might find her and Salvador. He had an odd stirring in his heart. He knew somehow that he would find them, with Olivia's help.

"Hello? Sebastian?” Olivia tapped him on the forehead.

"Yes, My Dear. I'm listening ... America.” He smiled brightly. “It sounds like we are about to set out on a grand adventure."

"Yes.” Olivia squeezed him tightly to her. “Who is Salvador?"

"Ah, you can read my mind now?” Sebastian laughed.

  "Apparently ... and Miakoda?"

"Miakoda is my creator, and together we made Salvador."

Her eyes widened. “A son, from so long ago?"

"Yes, centuries...” his voice trailed off as he looked off into the distance. “I've looked for them, but somehow I don't think I was ready to find them."

  "But now?"

"I think I've accepted my fate now, with your help and with what you've given me, Olivia.” Sebastian turned and smiled at the beautiful creature beaming up at him. “I'm ready."

"Well, let's not waste any more time. I think it's time for Salvador to meet his father."

"Yes, I think it is time.” Sebastian smiled and leaned forward, kissing Olivia gently on t
he lips. He had finally found a new life, with a new companion, friend, and lover. At least she was his for now.
