Blaze (The Protectors Series) Book #10 Page 23

“You are so beautiful. I don’t know what I did to deserve your love, but I’ll take it and I will cherish it and you.” Blaze touched her face. “I’m really not good with words and shit.”

Katrina chuckled. “You’re doing pretty well, Warrior.”

He knelt in front of her. “Katrina, I have never loved anyone in my life until you. I can be a bastard, and I won’t always say the right things. I will make you mad, you may even hate me at times, but always know I will never let harm come to you again.”

Katrina watched as he pulled a box out of his pocket and opened it. A beautiful diamond ring sparkled as the snowflakes fell on the stone. Her hand slapped over her mouth as she stared.

“Katrina, please say something.” Blaze actually sounded nervous.

“What exactly are you asking me, Blaze?” She pulled her eyes away from the gorgeous ring to look him in the eye. “You know what, it doesn’t matter. Yes! Whatever it is, absolutely yes!”

He took the ring out and placed it on her finger. Then he stood and took her in his arms for a kiss that could melt a mountain of snow. She heard the happy screams coming from the bar and knew she’d missed Tessa and Jared’s surprise, but she didn’t care. She was exactly where she wanted to be.

“Guys!” Steve’s voice broke through their little reunion. “Hey, yo! You missed it! Come on! Tessa is a freaking vampire!”

“Can I kill him?” Blaze growled against her lips.

“No, you cannot,” Katrina whispered against his.

  “Dammit!”

“Play nice, Blaze.” Katrina laughed when he growled, then carried her back to the bar.

“I don’t do nice well.” He put her down and held the door open, but they both noticed Ronan leaning against the wall with his hat pulled low over his eyes.

  “Ronan,” Blaze said.

  “Blaze,” Ronan countered.

“You lost?” Blaze frowned, wondering what he was doing outside.

“No, just watching to make sure a certain lady is being taken care of.” Ronan tipped his hat up to look at Blaze.

“I’m fine, Ronan.” Katrina smiled at him and pinched Blaze when he growled. “Thank you.”

“Yeah, thanks, Ronan.” Blaze added a glare to his sarcastic remark. He ushered Katrina inside with one last snarl at Ronan, who just smirked then lowered his head again. “Can I kill him?”

“No.” Katrina turned and smiled up at him. “Jealous?”

“Yes,” he answered. “You are mine, and I think you have a thing for cowboys.”

“I do not, but if you decided to wear cowboy boots tonight, I wouldn’t complain.” She gave him a wink.

Blaze growled and pulled her into the shadows. It was a while before they made the party.
