  Diana and Marty are musicians who perform traditional and original Irish and American folk music at coffeehouses and conventions around the country. Marty sings and plays the twelve-string guitar and banjo. In addition to singing backup harmonies, Diana plays rhythm guitar and a round Celtic drum called a bodhran.

  A Hugo Award-winning artist, Diana is best known for her series Woof: The House Dragon. Her first adult novel, The Alien Dark, appeared in 1990. She and Marty coauthored The Chance Factor, a STARFLEET ACADEMY VOYAGER book. In addition to other STAR TREK novels for intermediate readers, Diana has written many books in other series published by Minstrel Books, including The Secret World of Alex Mack, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo. She is currently working on original young adult novels for the Archway Paperback series, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.

  About the Illustrator

  Gordon Purcell received B.A.’s in studio arts and theatre from the University of Minnesota and has been a working commercial artist ever since. He is best known for his comic book artwork, including the following titles: DEEP SPACE NINE (Malibu Comics). STAR TREK, STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION and FLASH (DC Comics), SILVER SABLE, MAD DOG and THE AVENGERS (Marvel), and BARB WIRE and YOUNG INDIANA JONES (Dark Horse). He currently draws THE X-FILES comic for Topps. He lives it up outside Minneapolis with lovely wife, Debra, and wonder-child, Jack.
