Daydreams & Diaries

by Taylor Black

  To paraphrase the late Paul Harvey, “And that was the rest of the story.”

  * * *

  Every year in December around the world, Compassionate Friends sponsors candlelight ceremonies to remember the children who have predeceased their parents. My heart goes out to parents who have lost a child and to their siblings as well. I like to think of those lights not as candles in the wind but as the eternal flames of memory that can never go out as long as we daydream about those children.

  I would like to thank Living with Loss Magazine for publishing “Conversation in a Car” in 2007. I would also like to thank Beth Patterson at the Virtual Teahouse for allowing me to blog about Taylor. I would also like to thank Bette Althof for her persistence in reading all the rewrites of the memoir and for her encouragement for the project.

  And I would like to thank my daughter Courtney for finding Taylor’s journals. Without Taylor’s journals this volume could never have been completed.
