“Phoenixes, always want to be the fastest—it’s endurance that counts!” Dave said as Anthony got on his back and Claire got on Penelope’s.

Penelope rolled her eyes and jumped off the tower as roars and yells could be heard below.

Dave waved his wing in good-bye and then flapped them, throw- ing himself into the air and sending a breeze over the others.

Aila and Tommie moved to the edge of the tower.

Through the streets and the city, there were men and women rid- ing on familiars, running through the streets, laughing and jok- ing. The undead Guardians who had come back for Dena had saved it not once, but twice.

They saw an ox kin with a war axe riding a massive bedar, a dwarf with her pistols and hammer on a boar, and a werewolf upon a wolf with a massive hammer on his back.

Aila and Tommie waved to the group. A hammer, war hammer, and war axe were lifted high.

“We’re heading out! See you again!” The Guardians raised their weapons, leaving their chant behind.

They moved on, not looking backward, always moving for- ward. As the sun was setting, the skies and road filled with Guardians, passing Dena to the new generation as they sought out

  new adven-

tures, new beginnings, and new mischief.

  A LICH'S LOVE 247

“Well, we’ve got work to do, Tommie.” Aila turned and walked away.

“Ah, great. Can’t I get one day off ?”

Aila didn’t say anything as she continued to walk away.

“Just one day! Come on! I’ve got a new project I want to work on!”

“You just want to work on that new still with your father!” Aila yelled back.

“It’s for research!” Tommie complained, running after her.

Thank you for your support and taking the time to read A Lich’s Love.

This is the end of the Death Knight Series. I had a ton of fun with the series and I hope that you have enjoyed the journey across Dena. Things might not be as black and white as they appear on the surface.

  Be kind.

  And don’t forget to laugh.

Please let me know what you think of the books and the series with a review! It really does help out.

Thank you for your support and have an awesome day!
