Last thing: all writers know that a book isn’t a book until it has been designed—typographically considered, formatted, and encased in a jacket for all the world to see. My great thanks to Semadar Megged, who designed and art directed the interior, to Linda McCarthy, who art directed the jacket, and to Theresa Evangelista, who brought all the elements together to create the face of Small Damages. I have trusted Tamra implicitly since our paths first crossed, and when Tamra said that she thought I would like the cover design that was in progress, I simply sat back and waited. I knew it would be beautiful. I had no idea, however, that a cover could be as breathtaking as I think this one is. This is Seville. These are the oranges, so ripe and eternally pungent. This is the white and gold of a world that has lived, for years, in my heart.
