Burst_Swords to the Skies
Page 26
I swinging my swords one after the other really quickly. My swords seemed to be giving off a light blue aura as they sliced through the air. It was the "Dual Blades" skill, a skill that was like "Rapid Fire" with two swords but with more slicing power.
I locked my swords with one of them. I used my right leg to kick it away and used Oblivion to slay it. Immediately after killing it, another creature attacked from my left. I slashed at not only it but the others behind him as well.
I saw Spica fighting too, which was a rare sight. I saw her from the corner of my eye when I was twirling around. She was using her crystal sword, she seemed good at using it. It meant that she practiced before.
She was slicing pretty quick. Her blade was a single edged blade, which was a type of blade that I do not really like. Her blade was emitting a caramel like colored aura. She was using a skill called "Steel Crescent", it was a single edged sword skill.
The sound of arrow flying through the air were heard. The sounds most likely came from Ayla and the other archers in the kingdom. Some bomb arrows were shot too, making a large group of the creatures shatter.
The attack was overwhelming us. There were too many of them that they became uncountable. They bursted through our defences easily. They scream of the guards were heard slightly.
They were invading the castle like they had a target. And I knew what the target was, the target was the king himself. They wanted to take control of the kingdom.
Suddenly, a huge wave of the creatures entered the gate. Not only the gate, they jumped over the castle walls. It was like the castle was being hit by a giant tsunami. And of course, the tsunami was not made of water.
"Retreat!"
I said as I saw the wave of creatures. It seemed like it was too dangerous to fight at that moment. There were too many of them that it would just be futile to fight. Many of our men would die if we continued.
We hid in the area that the creatures were not attacking. We saw the castle being attacked as the creatures entered the building in large numbers.
"Sora, we need a plan" I said as I looked at Sora.
Sora was breathing heavily from exhaustion. She then closed her eyes, probably thinking of a plan. We had to use the whole army to take care of the creatures.
"Ok, gather around me" said Sora as she opened her eyes.
Everyone gathered around her as she explained her plan to everyone.
CLO 32: The Plan
"We'll attack and gain certain parts of the castle. When we conquer that certain part, some will stay behind to protect the place. The rest would go and conquer more parts. Cel, Spica, Ayla and Vergus are my team. Some others would follow us and take back the throne" said Sora confidently.
The obvious answer was heard from the mouths of the many knights. The answer was long and unnecessary. It was not that long but it was possible for it to be said in one word.
Of course, it does show respect but a shorter answer was enough to convey the information and answer that we were wanting to hear. The short one was the one word that was the front most of the sentence.
"Yes, Your Highness!"
"We should take the large castle rooms. Rooms like the foyer, the dining room, the grand hall and some others" said Ayla.
I looked over to the gate and saw that there were no more creatures entering the castle grounds. It was pretty much silence besides the chattering and clattering from the men's swords and pieces of armor.
"We better hurry. The creatures are not entering the castle anymore. They are all in, I guess" I said.
We were in a hurry but Vergus seemed to have something that he wanted to say or ask. I gave him a hand gesture that meant that he should say it. He nodded and then took a breath of air.
"How many people do we have now?" asked Vergus hurriedly.
It was a question that was not too crucial but was indeed a good question. If we did not have enough people, the plan would not work. We needed to know how many people was needed to take care of a certain place.
"At least a thousand or so" Sora replied.
It was not a lot but there was some breathing room. I did not know the amount of knights we had overall but it should be more than what we had in the castle ground at the moment. The rest should be protecting the king and the other staff members. They should be taking the king and the others to a safe place away from the castle.
"Hmm... Is that enough? The castle is pretty big"
"We should put 50 people per place. We are only taking the important rooms anyway" said Spica.
50 people should be enough for one place. It was not too strong of a number but our knights should be well trained. All of them came from the best of the knight's tournament anyway.
"We need to split everyone into groups now" said Ayla.
"Everyone! Create groups of 50" said Sora.
"Yes, Your Highness!"
It was taking a while. Our time was precious, we were just standing there. The action taken to take back the castle were in the early phases.
I knew that it was needed to have a good plan but I was having a weird uneasiness in my heart. It felt like I had to hurry or rush to get the castle back.
The sounds of people walking and metal clanking were heard immediately after Sora gave her order. The knights entered groups of 50 quickly.
"Done?" Sora asked.
"Yes, Your Highness!"
With a powerful voice coming from Sora's mouth, she stepped and was ready to let her voice out. She breathed in some air and said powerfully:
"Let's regain control of our castle!!!" Sora said as she ran.
"Yaaargh!!!*" went the knight as they charged into the castle.
Everyone was running and shouting loudly. The clanking of the armor and other equipment were in the making. The sounds of swords being drawn out were heard as well.
The windows shattered and there were sounds of explosions too. The castle was starting to get noisy in there. The creatures were working on getting hold of every part of the castle.
We ran in a giant group, we headed to the grand entrance of the castle. It was a double door that was the height of two average height men. It was pretty tall for a door.
We entered the castle entrance and started the fight. We were attacking the creatures at the foyer. There were quite a big amount of them but it was manageable. It was time to regain control of the castle.
CLO 33: Regain Control
Inside the foyer, we were fighting the creatures there in big numbers, which should make it really easy.
The place was wrecked. The flower pots were smashed and the dirt was all over the ripped carpet. The chandelier seemed to be dangling dangerously. The candles and torches were on the floor too. The door leading deeper into the castle was open and broken.
The creatures were charging at us. I ran in front and did "Rapid Fire", it blew them away and shattered them into nonexistence. After my attack, there were around 50 left. They were defeated in no time.
"Group 1! Take it from here" said Sora.
"Yes, Your Highness" said the 50 people from group 1.
With the foyer conquered, everyone else continued to enter the grand castle. We went through the broken door and entered the grand hall.
Inside, there were more of them that we have to go through. The grand hall was not needed to be conquered because it was only connected with the foyer and the main hallway.
The grand hall was a big rectangular room. Its height was at least 10 meters tall and around 20 meters long. The width was the same length as the height of the room.
There were at least 200 more creatures than the amount of creatures that were in the foyer. Which was quite a lot considering the the number but it did not seem like a lot because of the size of the room.
Sora ran in front and did "Horizontal Triangle" to cut of some of the creatures from the rest in a triangle. When they are stuck in the golden magical triangle, Sora makes the triangle implode. The creatures all shatter inside of the triangle.
>
I did "Vertical Separation" and split 5 creatures in half. Crystallite gave off a golden light as it sliced through the air and the creatures.
When we saw some breathing room, we ran through the door and entered the main hallway. Footsteps were heard and felt as the floor vibrated from the footsteps.
"The other groups, split up and take control of the rest of the castle!" Sora said.
The parts of the castle that were being taken over was not clear to me but I guess that the others know what rooms were important. The important rooms that I know of were the library, the dining room, the throne room and the main hall. There might be places like the garden but I was not to sure of it.
Sora's group which includes me, Spica, Ayla and Vergus were heading to the dining room. From there, we would go and take back the throne room.
Aside from Sora's group, there was another group that was suppose to take control of the dining room. It meant that we had around a hundred people with us.
Our strength was still pretty strong, but would only last until we regain control of the dining room. When we do regain control, we would have only half of the power we had from the dining room. Which was not too good.
We entered the dining room with a loud slam of the door. The images of the once divine and luxurious room appear in my consciousness. The memories that I had with Sora, Spica, Ayla, the king and everyone else flashed back at me.
I was angry at the damage that was dine to the room. The table was broken and pushed to the side. The candles, cutlery, plates and tablecloth were all on the ground. There was food that was spilled all over the floor. It was a mess.
There were those things, those creatures were wreaking havoc. There were around 300 of them, it was not as many as the amount in the grand hall but it was a big number considering the amount of people we had in our groups.
We had less than a hundred because some were outside the door, preventing more from coming to the dining room. We were in a dangerous situation. The amount of people we had was low. But we had already started to attack.
"Fight!"
A knight shouted that one word as everyone was attacking the creatures. The room was large, it meant that we had a lot of room to move in. But the fight to regain the castle was not over just yet.
CLO 34: Kohaya's Emergence
The knights charged into the creatures fiercely. We followed too after a couple of seconds. The shattering sound and the footsteps of everyone in the room echoed in the large dining room.
The men shouted and roared loudly as they attacked the creatures with their clanging swords.
Sora and Spica were in front, they were slashing at them side by side. Sora was using "Sleek" while Spica used the "Sprint" skill. Spica was sprinting and slicing horizontally, killing multiple at a time.
Vergus was slicing and dicing at the things on the left side of the room. He jumped left to his right, slashing every one of them on each side of his. There was a purple colored sword trail left behind as he swung his sword.
Ayla was not using her bow this time, she was instead using her rapier. Her bow was placed on her back, her scabbard was dangling from her belt. She thrusted her rapier everywhere really quickly, shattering the creatures along the way.
I was running with a large gap in between my steps. As I ran, I swung my sword horizontally every time I stepped on the floor. Swinging each of my swords one at a time.
By that time, I realized that my dual wielding skill has improved a lot since I started practicing it again. My rustiness has finally faded. I was still getting used to using dual wielding skills though.
The skills for dual wielding were different from one handed skills. The main differences were the use of two swords. I had the muscle memory for "Rapid Sword" with one handed only. So, I used "Dual Blades" instead. But it was possible to use the normal "Rapid Fire" skill.
Other than the skills like "Light vs Dark", "Dual Blades" and "Burst", I do not really know any other skills. Most skills in the world were one handed skills. More sword skills could be made for dual wielding though.
...
I stopped my running and stood still for a second or two. I placed my sword at waist level and crouched down slightly. My eyes sharpened as the creatures jumped up in the air, ready to attack me.
My swords started to glow with a red colored aura. I shifted my feet and jumped up in the air. I raised my swords up and performed a skill I just came up of. I call it the "Twirling Blades" skill.
I twirled my body around clockwise like a spin attack. My swords emitted flames as they sliced through the air.
After a few more minutes, the place was under control. Our group was ready to move on to the throne room. We were walking towards the door to the hallway until something unexpected happened.
"Woah!!!"
Everyone was blown away to the door we entered from. A loud bang was made as everyone hit the door, the door opened widely too.
A crystal wall was suddenly made in front of us in the middle of the room, cutting us off from the hallway we wanted to go through. The wall was see-through and spikey.
"What was that?!" shouted Vergus.
Sora was struggling to sit up. I held her hand and helped her up. She looked up at me as she breathed heavily. The thing that blew us away was unknown but it felt like we got hit by a huge hammer.
"Are you ok?" I asked.
"I'm fine... What just happened...?" said Sora as she got up"
A voice was heard out of nowhere. It was a voice that I find familiar. The voice made me feel uneasy because it was related to the person that caused all of this. It was the voice that belonged to non other than Kohaya.
"Oh, hello. Have you people missed me?" said the voice.
I looked on the over side of the crystal wall and saw a figure in black clothes. On his back were crystal spikes that had a light red glow coming from it.
"Kohaya! What did you do?! What do you want?!" I shouted with an angry face.
"Ho ho... If it isn't Mr. Knight, Cel Alt. Let me tell you everything you need to know about what I had been doing this whole time.
CLO 35: Reaching Kohaya
The mad man behind this battle, no, this war. The war that involved new technology, crystallization. The tech made by the team that he used to work with, the TRC.
He stepped forward a few steps and halted with his hands crossed. He looked down and smirked sinisterly before looking back up and started his speech.
"Well, Cel. Let me tell you what I had done. I observed the guard's moves for half a month down in that dungeon. There is always a switch of guard by midnight. The day shift guard would leave and there would not be any guard for a few minutes, I took advantage of that.
I used that damn metal straw to get out by bending it into the shape of the key to my cell. I caught glimpses of the key every day, slowly creating a picture of it.
Once I was out, the fun begins. I took a cloak and entered the TRC. Once the king, you and many other visitors were gone, I began my attack. I used a certain smoke bomb that contains a substance that would paralyze everyone who breathes in the smoke.
I punched whoever attacked me and took a glove that I saw you guys trying out. It was for left handed people, but it was no problem because I was alright with both of my hands. You could call me ambidextrous.
When I was about take the blueprints, a certain Mr. Famous Swordsman in mostly black clothes appeared and interred with me. Whatever, I was able to copy the crystallization technology with the few glimpses I had for my own use.
I got to start my crystallization thing back at my cozy home. And in no time, I was able to create simple artificial beings. They at programmed to fight everyone except me and cause destruction!!!
As a test, I took one of them to your beloved castle. And it had done well!!! Satisfied, I decided to launch the Crys Generator at Cylius. It was a success!
You should know the power of the crystals! I was thrilled, happy and excited to know that I created an
artificial being on my own. It was something that was impossible before I, Kohaya Kiya invented it!!!
Other than that, there was a special thing I also achieved in this crystal thing. Teleportation"
The moment I heard that one word, my eyes widened and I let out a slight gasp. My fists that were on the floor clenched in anger. My breathing started to get heavier. Kohaya smirked and started talking again.
"Yes, teleportation. Remember, Cel Alt, Vergus? That, was my doing. I teleported you two away from the city! It did destroy the Crys Generator but that was nothing.
