“Let you what, Madeline?”
“Oh!” She hit the water with her hand.
“Unh-unh!” He swished his finger back and forth.
Her body vibrated from the ripple she’d made in the aphrodisiac waters. “Ohh,” she groaned loudly as she hugged herself.
Standing very still, his eyes narrowed with intensity while he watched her.
Madeline was so angry with him, yet again. She got a wicked idea and suddenly knew how to win this one. She tore off her shirt.
He continued to stare at her.
With trembling fingers, she reached down and unsnapped her jeans.
“What are you doing?” he whispered.
Remaining mute, she tugged the wet jeans down over her hips.
Dev watched her lean back in the water while the jeans floated up to the surface. He kneeled down. “Now, Maddy, you don’t intend to stay in there, do you?”
She reached down to pull her breasts from the wet bra, and lifted them up and over the cups.
His eyes darkened at the sight of those rosy-hard beacons of delight.
With a determined motion, she pulled her lacey underwear down and off. She threw the wet lacey garment straight at him. It hit him in the face with a wet smack. “As far as I’m concerned, that’s the only wet part of me that you will get, Mister Ghost!” Madeline spread her thighs wide open and floated in the pool. Her hard nipples jutted up from the sparkling water.
Dev disgustedly removed the wet panties from his eyes. His breathing sped up at the seductive sight of her gleaming skin as it blazed up at him from the clear water.
Madeline tried hard to remain calm as the pulsing need throbbed almost painfully through her limbs. “Mmm,” she moaned aloud. She smoothed her wet hands over her bare nipples.
“Stop playing and get out, Maddy.” Dev’s eyes narrowed.
With a bliss-filled sigh, she trembled and drew her hand down to her thighs. “Oh, Dev.” She slipped a finger into herself to pump in and out with it.
As he watched her erotic movements, he seemed to freeze.
“I don’t,” she panted loudly. “Need the Brave or you,” she whimpered and her body began to spasm with a self-satisfying pleasure. The water moved around her. Abruptly, he lifted her up from the pool and raised her high above it. She trembled violently. “Put me down!” She’d already experienced the first time that overpowering need, which came once you got out of the lightning water.
His dark eyes glinted fiercely at her as he held her up from the water.
“Unh,” she panted. “Oh...”
“While you are with me?” he growled. “I will pleasure you.”
Madeline froze at the savage sounding voice she had heard only once before. The Brave! She swallowed heavily. He held her up as though it took no effort. “Oh, please?” she begged.
“Yes, and who shall please you?” He smiled up at her.
She bit at her lip and was near hyperventilation. “You!” she shouted with a breathless sound. “You!”
With pointed precision, he slid her down to allow her wet skin to pass slowly over his face. He kissed every wet inch of her as he moved her body down gradually over his hot mouth and smooth skin. Her body jerked with the heat from his mouth and tongue. The wet, sensuous sliding grazed over her thighs and up over her wet belly. His mouth moved up to her chest as he suckled every exposed area of her skin, devouring each nipple with his mouth.
“Dev!” she shouted.
“Mmm...” His guttural moan ran through her like a call. His lips were at her neck and he held her still as he kissed the rapid pulse, which beat there. He removed his mouth; his eyes locked with hers, as he held her to his chest.
She struggled, but could not break the hold. Lowering his hands, the Brave grasped each ass cheek, and pulled her up to his hips. She opened her thighs, wrapping them around his waist, and he shoved his hard cock up into her. She felt him go deep, and gasped with ecstasy.
With the pure power the Brave possessed, he thrust in and out of her with such force the water lapped over the sides of the pool. She could barely breathe as raw lust ran through her. She could feel her own moisture slide with his thrusts. The blue glowing light glimmered in the moving water around them. When that happened before, he became the Brave entirely. Madeline stared into his eyes and they reflected the same blue light.
“Come for me,” he growled to her lips.
Helpless, her body was peaked with desire and need. Her insides were jolting from the powerful thrusts and her body spasmed uncontrollably. Climaxing with a hard jolt, she screamed out with it as it shook every nerve in her.
Releasing a low groan, he tilted her hips back and with a powerful thrust, he came inside of her.
She lay back in the water as the orgasm shook her. I could die of this, so easily. “Unh—unh,” she panted heavily as the heat from his cum ran through her.
Letting out another savage growl, he lowered his mouth to her outstretched belly. “Are you pleased?” he purred the words seductively to her wet skin.
Madeline shook so badly that she winced from it. “Yes—oh, yes!” She floated peacefully in the silky rainwater.
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
TAYLOR
Sky Walk Lodge, Grand Canyon, Arizona
Taylor’s eyes fluttered open, and he could hear a beeping in the room. He turned his head to look around.
“Hello.” A beautiful face stared down at him.
He wrinkled his brow.
The woman came closer and removed his oxygen mask. “You have been gone for a month now.” She continued to move around his bed and raised it higher, then sat in the chair next to it. “Can you speak?” she asked.
Attempting to vocalize his thoughts, he opened his mouth, and then closed it.
“It may take a while.” She nodded.
Staring up, he seemed puzzled at the high wood-beamed ceilings, and the soft pink adobe walls.
“No, it’s not a hospital. They moved you here two weeks ago,” she answered his silent question.
Taylor swallowed and tried again, to speak.
The concerned woman reassuringly placed her hand over his. “It’s okay. You have had tubes in your throat for a while now.” She drew her eyes up as though she were concentrating. “Let me see, if I had been in a coma, what would I want to know first?” She gave him a bright smile as though she’d just thought of an answer and sat up a little straighter in her chair as she gripped his hand. “You were in a car accident,” she stated in a clear voice.
Blinking his eyes, he stared at her face.
“You received head injuries and went into a coma,” she continued. “Your name is Taylor Scott.” She tilted her head. “That’s your white man’s name, anyhow. Do you remember any of it?” She watched his face closely.
He shook his head.
“Not even your name?”
With a frustrated sigh, he shook his head again.
“Oh. The doctors said there may be some loss because of—”
Anxious, Taylor squeezed her hand.
“I don’t think I should be the one—”
“Who am I?” He released a heavy breath with the wheezing words. “Where is this place?” His voice was a mere whispery sound.
The woman stood up and backed away.
“No,” he whispered in a louder tone. “Just sit and tell me what you know.”
At the plea in his voice, she stood motionless.
“Starting with your—name,” he seemed to croak the words out.
Wearing a resigned expression, she sat back down. “It’s Kami.”
Taylor smiled.
At the smile, she stilled.
“So, how did I get into this accident?” he asked and rubbed the soreness at his throat.
“Um...I don’t know that.” Kami looked away as she answered.
“Do I know you?” His voice grew a little stronger.
“A little.” Kami had a thing for Taylor ever since they were kids, but he nev
er knew she was even alive.
He took her hand again. “I thought so; a woman who looks like you? I don’t know how anyone could forget that.”
Kami swallowed nervously and pulled her hand away.
“We didn’t like each other or what?”
“We just weren’t close, that’s all.” She let out a nervous sounding laugh.
“So, where am I?”
With a keen perception, she followed his eyes to the large window. “At the Sky Walk Lodge of the Hualapai’s.”
“The hula what?”
At his apparent bemusement, Kami laughed and stood up. “I think that’s enough for today. You have a private nurse coming in soon.”
“Oh, I thought that you were—”
“Oh no, I’m a doctor here. A special kind...” Her voice faded as she stared at his face.
“Yes, you would be special,” he whispered.
With his bold statement, Kami seemed to abruptly leave the room.
Taylor tried to sit up in the bed, and winced as he stared down at the IV in his arm. Someone must know who I am, or how I got to be in this shape! He pulled the IV from his arm, and sat up in the bed.
After an hour of trying to get his bearings back and stop shaking, Taylor slowly made his painstaking journey all the way down the long hall. It was his first time out of the room since he’d woken up. The breath rushed in and out of his lungs as though he’d just run a mile. He slowed down and stopped to catch his breath.
He saw several people while he made this breathless trek, and no one he encountered smiled at him or greeted him in any way. I’m the invisible patient? He shrugged and continued to explore the lodge. He came to a balcony and peered down at the lower floors.
There were people all over the place. Some were reading the poster-like boards on the walls, and others followed tour guides around. A museum? He wondered at all the activity.
“You should not be up.” Kami was at his elbow.
Startled from his thoughts, he turned to look at her.
Kami’s eyes were full of concern. Her dark silky hair hung down over her shoulders.
Taylor lowered his gaze to her long tan legs.
She stepped back a little at his blatant appraisal.
“God, you’re stunning,” he whispered.
At the sudden compliment, she batted her eyes with surprise.
With a sudden brashness, Taylor reached out and took her hand. “You are also the only one who knows I exist.”
Kami’s cheeks grew pink with an honest to goodness blush and she pulled her hand from his. “You were in a coma and you should…”
At her reaction, he unexpectedly felt ashamed of his own brazen behavior. “I’m sorry for hitting on you like that.”
“It’s the way you have always been, I hear.” She laughed.
“From who?”
“Back to your room, Mister Wanderer,” she ordered with amusement in her voice while seemingly avoiding the pointed question.
Taylor watched her nice round ass, which appeared gracefully suspended in those white shorts while she walked up the hall. How could I forget this woman? Apparently, I’ve forgotten everyone. He looked around. And everyone seems to have forgotten me. He openly stared directly at some people who walked right in front of him, and they never even looked his way. He shook his head with amazement, and followed Kami down the hallway. “Wait up!” he called out.
A few days later…
Taylor was frustrated and paced the room.
The door opened. “You are free to leave now, you know?” Kami brought in an armful of clothes.
He stepped back to look at her; over the last several days, all he had wanted to do was look at her and hear her soft voice. And, I get nowhere with her. “Where am I supposed to go?” he asked.
Kami shook her head at his sarcastic question and lay the clothing on the bed. “Home, I suppose?”
“And where is that?”
Kami seemed to ponder on his question. “Yeah, I can see your point.” She locked eyes with him. “You know, as a tribe member, you can stay here for as long as—”
“Long as what—for fucking ever?” He turned away from her. “I know nothing of this tribe, and no one seems to acknowledge me at all.”
She chuckled.
Shocked at her sudden laughter, he spun around. “You find this funny?”
“No, I find it ironic.” She shrugged.
“What do you mean, ironic?”
“You were about eighteen, I guess.” She sat down on the bed. “You left the tribe, went to college at one of the major universities and for all the years after? You never acknowledged your heritage, as far as I know.”
“That is the first real piece of information you have given me.” He released a frustrated breath.
Kami looked alarmed and she got up. “Lunch will be—”
Desperate, Taylor grabbed her arm. “Please, tell me who I was. What was it that I did for a living; just something?”
“I knew you before you went away.” She stared at the door, avoiding his eyes. “Well, you never even looked at me, but I knew you like from afar, I guess. You went to school in the Hualapai Mountains just like me. That’s all I know, except...”
He turned her around. “What?”
“You were here just before the accident.” Kami lowered her eyes.
Taylor pulled her closer. “Yes?”
“It was for a land deal. For us to build a huge resort in a town called Nowhere.”
“Who was with me?” he asked with avid curiosity.
“You came alone, but there was someone...” Her voice fell away. “The wife of our…” She halted.
“Who!” he repeated.
“The only person who would know who you were,” she paused and seemed troubled. “Of the life you lived before. But she won’t see you.”
“Why?” He let her go and stepped back.
Attempting to avoid his penetrating stare, Kami looked away. “I don’t know, but they both seemed to know you.”
“Yeah, go on.”
“They didn’t seem to like you at all.” She met his eyes.
“But they knew me?”
She nodded.
“Where can I find them?”
At the question, she let out a small laugh.
“What is so dammed funny?”
Kami covered her mouth with her hands.
Releasing an aggravated breath, Taylor moved back to sit on the bed. “Why do I expect you to even care?” He stared down at his hands. “No one seems to care. It wouldn’t have mattered if I had died in that accident.”
“I cared!” she blurted out and put her hand back up over her mouth.
His head jerked up. “You did?”
“I’m sorry I laughed before, but you’ve asked about how to see a God in person, and it is not an easy thing to accomplish, you know?”
“A what?”
She turned to the door. “It’s hard to explain, but I will ask the council and see if they will allow you to see him.”
“But you said the wife knew me?” Taylor was completely puzzled.
“Yes, I did.” Kami went out, shutting the door behind her.
“What the fuck did I do before? Was I some monster or something? No one has come, no friends and no relatives,” he wondered aloud to an empty room as he walked over to the window and peered down at the canyon. My life is like this canyon…full of emptiness. He gripped the windowsill. “The only ones who even knew me, hated me?” Taylor shook his head. “It fucking figures.”
CHAPTER NINETEEN
Rick
Lightning Cave, Above Nowhere
The horses rode up the rocky path.
Rick rode behind the pair of Indian guides; they were silent the entire three-hour ride over here. He looked around and wondered how he never knew this was here above Nowhere for all this time. The air was cooler and the scenery was really different.
With a start, he winced when his horse went over a ro
ck and peered up to see the rock overhang with a glimmering pool beneath it. “Wow.” He’d heard about this before from the tribe, but no white man was ever permitted see it. The People as they called themselves were extremely private; so private they did not even opt for having casinos on their land.
The other riders hopped down from their steeds.
He pulled his horse to a halt.
The two guides stood by their horses and gazed over at an enormous cave entrance.
“Well, is there a doorbell or something?” Rick smiled at his own joke.
“He will come out,” one of the young Indian escorts whispered, his face expressionless.
“But, how will he know that we’re here?”
They both smiled. “He just does,” the other one spoke up. Then, they both lowered their heads.
A few minutes went by and Rick began to feel impatient. “Are we just gonna sit here—”
“Mr. Sayers!” Dev called from the entrance to the cave.
The two young bucks lowered to one knee in a subservient kneeling.
“No!” Dev shouted at them.
They froze.
“I am just as you are.” He smiled.
They lowered their heads.
Dev rolled his dark eyes as if he just gave up and motioned to Rick. “Come on.”
Rick stared at them. “Are you guys coming?”
They refused to raise their heads.
“Okay.” Rick shook his head. I will never get entirely used to The People, I suppose.
He went in through the cave’s entrance behind Dev, and halted in his tracks. He gawked around to see the full kitchen, the entertainment system with the full leather couch, coffee tables and easy chair. Plush silver carpeting ran throughout and it looked as posh as any penthouse he’d ever seen. “How in the hell…?”
“My tribe.” Dev shrugged.
“So, they really believe you’re him?”
Dev nodded. “Yes, they really do. To them, I’m Mr. Supernatural and almost one hundred and fifty years old.”
“They treat you like a—?”
“Dad!” Madeline cried out, as she came into the room.
She appeared to be even more beautiful than she was two months ago. She wore shorts and a bikini top. Her tan was even and glorious as she nearly glowed with happiness.
