Rick laughed and carried her into the bathroom. Setting her down, he adjusted the water temp, then got in.

He gently smoothed the sponge up and over her hips. She tensed as the warm water hit her breasts. He knelt down, rubbed the sponge along her skin, and parted her thighs. Lowering his lips to her clit, he tongued her button up and down.

Phoebe released a shuddering breath. “Ohh,” she moaned as she felt his hot tongue lash her skin there.

“Open,” Rick whispered to her wet skin as he opened the folds to expose her to his tongue.

With a shiver, she lifted a thigh up and placed her wet foot on the shower wall.

He eased a finger into her.

She flinched as she felt herself grow wetter.

Placing his lips on her again, he sucked on her.

  “Oh, Rick.”

Lashing her repeatedly with his warm tongue, he slid his finger in and out of her wet pussy.

Her torso stretched out with the ecstatic throbbing from his thorough sensual plundering.

Relentless, he kept up the licking rhythm, stuck another finger into her and pumped her fiercely.

“Oh, oh,” she panted. “Rick, I’m gonna—” She gasped for air as she felt herself climax. He continued to suck on her and she could feel his mouth draw her cum from her clit. “Ahh!” She shuddered with pure bliss.

With a wicked smile, he stood up. “Yum,” he purred to her lips while tugging her body closer. Rick tenaciously slammed her body against the shower wall. He entered her and lowered his mouth to a nipple.

At the continued glorious assault, her head fell back. “Oh, you will slay me.” Her leg muscles quivered from the orgasm while he sucked on her nipple. “Oh, God—Rick, I love you so.”

Seemingly obsessed with lust, he continued to pound into her.

  “Oh, I’m gonna…again!” she exclaimed.

When lifted his head to look into her eyes, his expression was intense and full of passion. “Yes.” He pumped deeper into her and pulled her higher by grabbing her ass.

“Unh—unh,” she released a helpless sound.

He ground his cock high up into her and his body grew rigid as he grasped her face and stuck his tongue into her mouth.

Sucking on his tongue with a fevered need in that familiar way of many years ago, she felt the powerful orgasm pass through her. “Anywhere…anytime, my love,” she stated to his mouth with a weak gasp.

Rick held her tightly. “We just cannot seem to help ourselves!” he shouted as he laughed.

The water beaded on their entwined heaving bodies as the loud sound of their breathing echoed in the shower stall.

The pounding grew louder as Rick rose from the bed. Is that knocking? No one has come all the way out here in so long, I’d forgotten what it sounded like. He looked down and grinned as he saw that Phoebe was smiling as she slept.

Scooting off the bed, he grabbed his jeans. The pounding reverberated through the trailer. “Hold on, will you?” he called as he tripped over a side table he and Phoebe had overturned last night while trying out the living room. A smile nudged at his lips as he remembered her ecstatic cries. He was still buttoning his shirt when he opened the door.

Two men in suits stood at the steps. “Mister Sayers?” one of them asked.

He stared at them and nodded his head.

“We have a warrant for a Miss Sophia Langdon.” The other one held up a piece of paper to his face.

Rick blinked. “So?” His heart pounded rapidly in his chest.

“We have reason to believe she is here at your home.”

“I barely know the woman,” he replied in a calm voice.

“It was last reported to her company that she was coming here.” The one holding the paper spoke as he looked all around.

“Yes, and that was over a week ago,” he assured them as he fought to keep his voice even toned.

They stared and him while their eyes narrowed.

“Rick?” Phoebe called from the hall.

  Their heads swung up.

“Wait!” He shook his head at them. “That is Phoebe Sayers, not—”

They pushed him aside, crashing through the door and Rick’s body was slammed against the wall.

  CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

  KAMI

  Venice Beach, California

The limo sat empty in the dark lot. Taylor held her hand and they went up the tiered wooden steps.

“Wait up, will you!” Kami was breathless.

“For an Indian, you sure are slow!” He laughed.

“I’m full of ice cream, thanks to you.” She huffed and puffed.

Taylor halted and turned to her.

  She stopped on the steps.

He scooped her up and carried her to the top. “I think I could get used to carrying a Goddess around.”

Kami scoffed at his continuous goddess routine. She tried to peer around and could hardly see anything, but she could smell the salt of the ocean water. “What are you doing?”

“We gotta hurry!” he whispered to her cheek with a rush in his voice.

“Why?” She tried to see around him.

“Just wait.” He set her down and took her hand in his.

Her brow wrinkled up, as she couldn’t understand what he was up to now. It was dark, maybe six in the morning and there was no one around at all. The water began to glimmer. She squinted her eyes at the small glints of light and stared. A silvery shimmer fluttered across the horizon.

“I don’t want you to feel afraid.” He squeezed her hand.

  “What?” Her eyes widened.

“You know about the Sunset Legend, don’t you?” he asked and his voice sounded odd.

She tried to see his face “The—?”

“I’ve forgotten almost everything else.” He sighed.

  “Yes?” she prompted.

“My brother? The God of the sunset,” he reminded her with a dry laugh.

Her whole body stiffened at the mention of Ananza.

“But, I discovered something about myself.” The sun rose up over the water’s horizon and Taylor’s skin seemed to reflect the same glimmering.

Kami gasped and tried to step away from him, and his grip on her hand tightened.

“It appears that it is shared between brothers.” His skin glowed with a fiery light and he looked almost like he was a blazing bronze statue as the sun rose over the water, its reflection shimmering from his body. “With one difference.”

She could see his face now as it started to glow.

  “His talisman is the sunset.”

Terrified by the strange light coming from everywhere, she struggled to get loose. “I don’t understand!” Her breathing became rapid as she pulled at his hand. “Let go of me!” she shouted with panic.

“Mine, is with the rise of the sun,” he whispered and stood absolutely still.

Kami swallowed with fear as the sunlight became so bright that it blinded her, and she felt the sand slip away from beneath her feet.

It seemed like a few seconds went by as she could have sworn the wind had whipped around her. Kami opened her eyes and saw the sun rise up over the cliffs. Blinking her eyes, she released a shaky breath.

Taylor laughed. “Hard as I try, I just can’t seem to get to Paris,” he teased.

“We are at the Skywalk?” She gazed around with wide eyes.

  “Yep.”

The sun rose a little higher and the colors from the canyon glimmered as the light spread across its layers.

“How? Kami whispered with awe as she stared at his face; the bronze glow on his skin was faint now.

“I don’t really know.” He shrugged. “It just started happening a few days ago.”

  She stepped back from him.

Taylor let go of her hand.

Unexpectedly, she felt weakness in her legs and she started to fall backward.

“Whoa!” He reached out and drew her up.

  Her whole body shook.

  “Are you afr
aid of me now?” He stared into her eyes.

Shocked by the revelation, she shook her head. “We need to see the council.” Kami took his hand and they walked across the bowed glass bridge toward the lodge.

  Skywalk Lodge, Grand Canyon, Arizona

  An Hour later…

The couple sat quietly at the end of the long table.

The council of ten stared at them with no expressions on their faces.

  Kami stood up. “Well?”

The chief stood also. “We have known since even before he was born.”

Surprised by the admission, she blinked her eyes and gazed over at Taylor.

He shrugged his shoulders while wearing a puzzled expression.

Attempting to understand this new development, Kami leaned forward with her hands on the table. “Then, why did no one else seem to know, including him?”

“He was not of the same flint as Ananza,” the chief announced.

Kami batted her eyes. “But, he has the same power?”

“Yes, and he may possibly be even more powerful.” The chief answered in a low tone.

Taylor stood up. “What are you talking about?”

The chief stood back and folded his hands together. “You are a direct descendant of the Brave, which Ananza had taken his living form from. This means the spirit fire runs in your veins.”

Taylor shook his head with a sarcastic smile. “What the hell does all that even mean?” His voice rose up to a shout.

Kami took his hand and shook her head at him.

Taylor drew in a calming breath. “Did I know of these so-called powers before the accident?”

The chief nodded. “You used them to further your goals in the white man’s world.”

“What?” he shouted. “You mean all those deals? The way I acquired all that money?”

  Kami squeezed his hand.

“When you realized that you had the power? You then used it to get whatever you wanted. It could influence weaker people in a sense, and we were powerless to say anything or do anything to stop you.”

At the cold statement, Kami seemed to flinch.

The chief looked directly at her. “Kamikowa.”

At the formal name, the young healer drew her shoulders up.

“We assigned you from the beginning to aid in his healing. To guide him back to the tribe.”

  Her eyes widened.

  “You have done that.”

In agreement, all the council members nodded their heads.

  Taylor stared at her.

“But, what you are unaware of, is your own birthright.” The chief looked at Taylor.

Kami felt a tremble run through her.

Taylor stepped away from the table. “You are all saying that—” He gazed at Kami. “I’m some kind of supernatural freak?”

The old man shook his head. “You represent the tribe, in glory and in all ways.”

Taylor backed away from the table while his whole body shook.

Concerned, Kami took a step toward him.

“No!” He put his hand up at her as his eyes filled with rage.

The glass in the high windows shook and cracks ran up the glass as the walls started to vibrate.

Kami held onto the table which shuddered along the floor as a blinding light filled the room. “Taylor!” The light became so bright that she lowered her head. Suddenly, the rattling stopped. She looked up and he wasn’t there anymore. She searched all around the room.

The chief and all the members were on the floor with their heads bowed.

“Where did he go?” She blinked her eyes at them in a desperate confusion.

  They remained silent.

“I asked...” Her voice sounded hysterical. “Where did he go!”

The chief raised his head up and gazed around.

“Please, tell me,” she whispered in a desperate tone.

  CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

  MADELINE

  Lightning Cave, Arizona

Dev carried her through the cave and set her down into the warm water. Madeline felt the silky bubbles flow across her skin. “Mmm...”

“You had one hell of a ride this time, little hellion.” Dev chuckled

She opened her eyes and winced a little. “I have never been so thoroughly fucked in all my life!”

  “Oh, really now?” he asked.

Nodding emphatically, she released a sigh. “And I received no remedies or even Ruphies to excuse it.”

“What?” He looked puzzled by the strange statement.

Laughing a little, she slumped further into the soothing water. “Nothing, my Sun Warrior.”

Dev gave her that cute grin he always wore. “I like it when you say it like that.”

One of her blue eyes popped open. “I will do all the things you like, and then some.” She winced again. “As soon as I heal up from all that glorious fucking.”

Scoffing, he shook his head with a smile. “I still don’t understand why you use that kind of language.”

Madeline snickered as the bubbles covered her bare breasts. “There is no other or better fucking description in this particular case—of fabulous fucking.”

Dev threw his head back and laughed.

She giggled and flinched with the muscle aches and sore spots.

He picked up a bath sponge. “Well, I will take care of my red haired hellion of a witch-woman for now.” He began to soap down her breasts.

“Just remind me later, to ask about the fourth image.” She sighed with exhaustion as her head slumped lower against the tub.

His brow wrinkled up as he lifted one of her legs up. “The what?”

With another twitch from a sore muscle, she let out a weak laugh. “I’m just curious to know if anyone ever survived the third one.”

“What’s all this funny talk of images?” He shook his head as he soaped down her thigh.

As she felt the sponge makes its way to her upper thighs, she laughed. “Never mind, my warrior. Just please keep soaping me down.”

Dev chuckled again, and caressed her thighs with his hand.

Her eyes popped open. “Are you thinking of…”

“Yes, I’m afraid I am.” He gazed down at her wet skin. “That lightning water seems to have a time-release effect.” He climbed into the tub.

“But, I can’t even move!” she exclaimed.

“Well, you don’t have to move at all,” he whispered to her lips. “I will move you.”

  “Oh, and how!” She smiled.

He moved closer and kissed her.

Madeline slept in the silken-sheeted bed for many hours.

Dev was pacing back and forth, as she opened her eyes. He looked upset.

With a pained expression on her face, she winced as she sat up. “Dev?”

He stopped pacing and came over to the bed. “I wanted to let you sleep.” He winked at her. “You really wore yourself out!” His tone was full of humor.

Madeline shook her head with a smile. “Yes, a thorough—” Her eyes narrowed at his worried expression. She pulled her long red hair back and sighed. “I’m fine now.”

Wearing a serious expression, Dev nodded and sat down. “We have to go back to LA.”

At the unexpected announcement, her head rose up.

  “It’s your parents.”

  “What?”

“I’m not sure, but I think they’re in trouble.”

  “They?”

With a distracted look, he lifted her up and sat her down on the edge of the bed. He turned to find some of her clothes. “They aren’t harmed, but—”

“Dev, just tell me!” she shouted.

“They’re in some kind of trouble, like maybe they’re in jail?” He took her feet and slipped her legs into the jeans. He stood her up on her feet and pulled them up and over her hips.

Madeline stared down at his lowered head as he was buttoning them.

Swift like, he handed her shirt to her his expression full of his usual humor as he shook his hea
d. “Just when you let go of her? You will have to get the old Maddy out. You’ll need to use all of her power and influence.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Her eyes rounded. “And why do you keep saying parents? I only have my dad! ”

Dev seemed to be searching around on the floor and came up with a pair of shoes for her to wear. “Let’s just say, we don’t need a warrior right now.” He didn’t answer her second question as he knelt down, put the shoes on her feet, and peered up at her. “We need the driven, relentless Madeline Sayers.”

Still baffled, she batted her shocked eyes down at him.

Seemingly in a hurry, he grabbed her shirt from her limp grasp and put it on her. “Too bad I can’t give you the ride by the river I had planned.” He hefted her up

Her face flushed at his particular meaning of a ride as she remembered the powerful erotic experience of their rides along the river.

“But, we have to do some battling first.” Dev carried her out of the cave.

  CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE

  RICK

  Sky Cutter Road, Nowhere, Arizona

“You have the right to an attorney…”

“Rick!” Phoebe shouted with panic as the man snapped the cuffs onto her wrists.

“Wait, a God Dammed minute!” Rick struggled as the other man put cuffs on him.

The detective continued to read her the rights as he moved her down the steps.

Rick turned to the man who’d cuffed him. “You can’t fucking do this!”

The man rolled his eyes. “You’d better come along peacefully, because you’re already up on obstruction charges.”

“Obstruction? For what?” Rick peered around him and tried to see Phoebe.

With a disgusted expression on his face, the detective moved him down the steps and opened the car door. “Miss Langdon is wanted for several charges. The first one is murder.”

“Murder?” He looked around and saw her in the other car. “Whose murder?”

“Some guy named Sackford.” The cop shrugged.

  “That’s not true!” Rick defended.

With an irritated sigh, the cop scooted him into the back seat. “It’s not my job to decide.” He deposited Rick’s boots onto the floorboard and slammed the car door shut.
