WindSwept Narrows: #2 Cassidy, Abby & Mia Page 5

by Diroll-Nichols, Karen

Mac felt the tails of his shirt pulled from his jeans seconds before her hands pressed against his stomach. The groan rippled through him as she caressed along his sides and onto his shoulders, pushing the shirt until he released her face and let her shove it down his arms.

Cassidy liked the soft hair on his arms as it tickled the center of her palms, the shirt falling to the floor at their feet. She broke off the kiss breathlessly to rest her head against his bare chest, inhaling the scent of him and listening to the pounding of his heart. She stepped back slowly, her tongue out to trace around her lips. She saw the question in his eyes even as her hands moved to the hem of her shirt, pulling it slowly higher and over her head.

The hard coiling tension swept through Mac watching her pull the shirt off, long hair feathering around her bare shoulders and face. Slender straps held a straining wisp of lace in place, the soft globes of her breasts rising and falling rapidly with each breath she took.

“Cass…” Her name moved between his lips in a low, husky groan.

“I like touching you…so warm…” Cassidy kissed softly over his collar, a gentle push and he took a step back…then another…she took his palm and led him into the bedroom, stopping beside the bed. She lifted the small plastic bag from the floor and dropped it to the nightstand. He was behind her, his hands on her waist and pulling her hard back against him at the same time his mouth began a very interesting assault along her throat and shoulder.

Mac was aware of his feet kicking off his shoes. He was acutely aware of the woman he held against him, her behind pressed against his erection. A wild surge of passion took him, the sweet taste and smell of her drowning his senses. He felt her body tense and shudder when his teeth nipped their way along her neck, her gasp loud and erotic.

His palms moved between them, the snap of her bra released. He felt the shiver race through her, his hands helping the slim straps from her shoulders and his hands cupping each breast from behind. She fit so perfectly against him, her head back, long hair tickling his stomach. His fingers teased her nipples even as his mouth continued to tease her throat, tipping her head to the side and taking a long slow kiss. Her nipples hardened demandingly in his palms.

His hands caressed down her ribs and onto the flat of her stomach, fingers deftly opening the snap of her shorts and pushing them over the flare of her hips. He felt her lift her feet seconds before turning in his arms, shining wide grey eyes meeting his without reserve or doubt. A shudder of anticipation exploded in him when her hands touched his waist, slim fingers opening the button of his jeans. Cassidy leaned forward, pressing her chest against his while her palms eased inside the sides of his jeans.

Mac wondered at his sanity when her hands gripped the edges of his jeans. He knew he was about to speak. He was sure there were words struggling to be known in his brain but for the life of him, they refused to form on his tongue when she dropped agilely lower, taking his jeans with her.

Then she touched him. The sound dragged from inside him came out low and plaintive, his hands clenched and knees shaking when she pressed her cheek against the fabric of his boxers. Dark lashes shot wide when the boxers were suddenly gone, her face pressing against the flat of his stomach seconds before he felt the moist hot tongue dragging over the length of him. His hands went to her head, his eyes closed and her name whispered from his lips.

Cassidy felt alive in her exploration. Her hands held his hips, turning him carefully and giving a little shove. She saw the fire explode in his dark eyes as he toppled to the surface of the bed. She saw the flames of desire when his gaze stroked over her as firmly as his hands had been. She joined him on her knees, bending to touch and kiss the hard arousal of him. His head fell back on the bed and his moan of need ignited more fires within her.

Mac told himself he’d have his turn. Even as he drank in the sight of the silver haired fairy at his side. The long, wispy hair fell around her face and over his stomach. He felt the silken softness on his erection and gripped the blanket beneath him as her mouth began a sensual assault, tasting, nibbling and taking him to the edge without inhibitions.

Cassidy kissed over his stomach, dragged her tongue around the cute male nipple and captured his mouth hungrily. She didn’t protest when he turned slightly to the side, one hand wound in her hair and held her mouth to his while the other palm captured one breast, teasing and arousing. Her lower body squirmed at the sensations that ran from one feminine part of her to another, like a fuse on fireworks. She knew the growing feelings inside her, but they’d never been this potent, never this powerful before.

  “Mac…”

“Tell me, Cassidy…” the words were gruff, his palm sliding down her ribs to the soft nylon of her panties. Strong fingers stroked through the silken coils and he had to look, shoving the panties aside to view the woman at his side. He felt himself harden more and groaned at the feel of liquid silver beneath is fingers.

“Touch me, Mac…please…” her hips pushed against his palm just as his fingers felt the thick hint of her desires. Her fingers tightened against his waist, nails digging slightly into his skin. She lifted her leg, pulling her foot closer to her body and opening herself up to his touch.

“At your command…” He drew his fingers though the silver thicket, gliding through the hot dew before sliding on finger slowly inside her. “This is one achievement I’ll never tire of….” He promised thickly, her fragrance searing itself to his senses.

  “Oh, god…Mac…yes…”

“Don’t start issuing orders, Cass…” he teased, leaning down and gently pulling one nipple between his teeth.

“You don’t need orders…you know exactly…oh-my-god…” Cassidy felt the first wave, the promise that more were following.

Mac watched her hips surge upward at the same time her hands clenched at her side, opening and gripping the blankets tightly. He continued stroking, drawing more of the slick moisture against his palm and sliding another finger inside her, her movements pushing hard against his palm. He grabbed for the nightstand, found one of the packets and sheathed himself, moving between her thighs and aligning his body with the small hot opening.

Mac moved carefully. She was small and tight. It felt like her muscles were trying to pull him inside, the wild ripples inside her making him groan. While he was trying to move slowly, struggling to keep control, Cassidy sent her hips slamming against him, her hands suddenly free. He felt her nails raking along his sides; felt her lift one leg high and wrap it around his waist and he knew he was losing the pace yourself battle.

Dark lashes flew wide at the same time her body opened itself to him. He fell headlong into the vortex, his hips moving with a power she urged from him. Rotating and twisting, a long, low shout left his lips at the same time she covered his mouth with her own, arms around his neck and holding on for the eruption.

Mac broke her kiss and drove himself deeper and deeper into her softness, his hands flat on the bed and body arched as the powerful pulsing began. He heard her name torn from his lips, felt her body convulse with him and listened to the sweet sounds of her calling to him, riding the waves with him.

Neither moved for a long, long couple minutes. Mac had let his body collapse carefully upon her, his arms losing their strength completely.

Cassidy sighed contentedly, her arms stretched straight out from her sides and her leg slowly releasing its hold on Mac’s waist.

Mac swore he heard a soft purr from lips that were near his ear and slowly raised his head, his chin on his palm as he gazed down into the closed eyes and delightfully inviting smile.

Cassidy cleared her throat, her mouth open when he placed his palm over her lips.

“If you say achievement earned….” He warned with a crooked grin.

“I don’t have to…” she winked at him, his fingers moving to her ear, toying with the long strands of hair. “You did…” her laughter was light and airy. “Actually…what I had intended to say…you are incredible…”

“You’re not so bad yourself, lady…”

“I may never use batteries again,” she announced cheekily, laughing when he groaned and lifted himself up and off her, striding into the bathroom still shaking his head. Cassidy pulled the blanket half over her, gazing into the ceiling.

Mac crossed the room slowly. The blankets stopped at her waist, a sparkle of fading sunlight through the patio door caught the promise ring that was nestled safely between her breasts. Her eyes were closed, face tipped toward the waning sun. She turned to face him when his knee touched the bed, shifting to her side and propping herself on her elbow to watch him. Mac guessed it was going to be a mutual activity for them for awhile. Because he certainly wouldn’t tire of gawking like a teenager.

“Hi…” He slid beneath the blanket, matching her pose. His finger caught the small ring that hung around her neck. He wasn’t dreaming the stars in her eyes, because without even looking in the mirror, he knew they were sparkling in his own. “So…sorry you took a chance?”

Full lips tilted in a soft smile. “No…but for the record…I wasn’t sorry before this other part happened.”

“I’m glad…because I’m more convinced than ever it was the best idea I ever had,” Mac leaned over to brush her lips with his.

“I start work on Wednesday,” Cassidy said with a long sigh. “You said we were going to a party tomorrow?”

“I’ll introduce you to my evil sisters…” Mac pulled her against him. “But at the moment…”

“I’m not really interested in tomorrow, either,” she whispered against his mouth, willingly losing herself in the here and now.

Pale lashes slowly blinked, her face turned to the window. It was morning already. The smile touching her lips grew when she felt the warm palm resting against her waist. Her arms were above her head and when she stretched, she felt the palm slid a little lower, cupping her behind with a possessive squeeze.

  “Hmmmm…”

“Morning,” Mac had been lying there staring out into the fog outside the large window.

“So it is…” Cassidy rolled to her back, two hands up and raking through her hair, blinking through the silver strands at the man beside her. “Hi…”

“I was afraid I had dreamt the whole thing…” Mac’s hand went to her hip, urging her to her side, their bodies aligned. Her arms came down and wrapped around his neck, fingers twining in his hair.

“The middle of the night…” Cassidy let her mouth glide over his.

“Amazing…” Mac whispered honestly, willingly losing himself in her kiss.

“Any idea what time it is?” Cassidy asked a long time later, stretching and reluctantly leaving the bed as he was returning from the bathroom.

“Barely eight…” He stepped into his boxers and jeans. “Want some juice?”

“Please…I’ll be out in a bit...I want to shower,” Cassidy gathered the clothes that had ended up strewn around the room, dropping some into the laundry basket before pulling a shirt from the drawer.

Mac was comfortably kicked back on the sofa when the bright orange towel came walking from the bathroom. He’d heard the blow dryer and knew she was working on drying her hair. He leaned forward and offered her the glass of juice he’d poured.

“I want to show you something,” Cassidy drained the juice in a long swallow and took his hand, pulling him from the sofa.

“Is it under that towel?” Mac asked hopefully, feeling his body tighten.

  “Oh, you’ve seen all that.”

“Doesn’t mean I don’t want to see it again,” He returned, but trailed behind her to the patio. “It’s fog.”

“I know…it means we really shouldn’t go driving around outside,” Cassidy announced with a flourish, the towel falling in a bundle to the floor.

Mac swallowed and tried to remember the last thing she said. You could definitely tell there was a slight chill in the morning air.

  “Ummm…Cass…”

“Why do you have all these clothes on,” she asked, stepping up to him and slowly opening the buttons on his shirt.

“I’m sure there was some really logical reason…” Mac laughed aloud when she hooked her finger in his belt and led him into the bedroom, stepping forward with a quick swoop and dropping her to the center of the bed, following her down after losing the clothing.

  Chapter Six

“That is the best way to start the day,” Cassidy declared a long time later, sitting at the computer and brushing her hair while Mac rooted in the fridge.

“I need food, woman…serious food…” Mac made a large sandwich, tipping his wrist up and noting the time. “We can leave as soon as I finish this,” he told her, getting the cup of tea from the microwave and taking the chair in front of the laptop. “I’m not sure that counts as food,” he told her, watching her sip a frothy thing she’d whipped up in the blender with fruit and yogurt.

“It is for me…my stomach isn’t interested in food until at least eleven,” Cassidy logged into her game, checking her auctions. “I love free money…”

“Maybe we can get a game in tonight when we get back,” Mac commented.

“I’d like that…” She got up and found her keys, phone, wallet and little purse to stuff it in, slipping the long cord over her head and waiting while he popped the rest of the sandwich in his mouth. She was grinning as he did a pat down, holding up a finger, chewing and making a dash for the bedroom. She knew his phone and wallet were on the nightstand.

“Alright…ready…” Mac took her hand and set the lock, letting the door swing closed behind them.

“So…you were going to tell me why we had to hit an ATM?”

“Oh, crap,” he cruised out of the parking lot, following her directions to the highway with a slight diversion into the bank parking lot. “Hold that thought.”

“Done holding,” Cassidy said when they were on the highway heading north. “Where are we going?”

“A lodge on Lake Sammamish, Bella, one sister owns it. Kate is the other sister…and…”

“Chloe?” Cassidy bounced in the seat and turned sideways to watch him. “Seriously? I had no idea…we’ve been friends for a few years…but…” she closed one eye.

“It’s a long story…short version, I was a kid and friends with guys they married,”

Cassidy took his palm. “I know the story, Mac…”

“Yeah, well…” He worked to clear his throat. “They kind of adopted me after that. It’s not something any of us ever questioned or thought about…it just was.”

  “And the hundred dollars?”

“The evilest one…Chloe…has this mind like nothing I’ve ever met before…pieces go out into the universe and she finds them and they fit together into a puzzle. She’s always had this uncanny ability…and it drives me crazy because I keep falling for it! I try using logic without knowing all the fine print…I swear she has a crystal ball somewhere,” he concluded, grinning at the laughter coming from his girl. “Breakfast yesterday morning…somehow…Chloe announced there was something different…and that she knew what is was…I had a girlfriend. Then the questions started…I wouldn’t tell them your name…silly me, I thought I was saving you from sister invasion…”

  “Oh, this is too funny…”

“I’ve been trying to figure the pieces she built so fast…”

  “I arrived from Vegas…”

“Your age…that you worked for a hotel in the area…that we met in the game…that you’d never been married…you liked computers…”

“Just arrived from Vegas might have been all it took, Mac.”

“That’s a heck of a leap. I didn’t offer a description…other than you were brilliant, beautiful and fun. Anyway…she bet me she knew who you were. I said impossible! What’re the odds?” Mac grumbled.

“Coincidence…it’s an amazing thing,” Cassidy said with a chuckle. “So she conned you into a bet…”

“Then I show up on your door step and you say you were on the phone w
ith some friends who were having a late breakfast,” Mac groaned. “I just…just once…and sure enough, you got Bella’s number in your in-box.”

“Chloe doesn’t play the odds, Mac. It’s like I told you about working security. It really is all about the puzzle pieces.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah…” he guided the sports car into a spot and turned the engine off. “Just remember that anything they tell you…it’s got a reasonable story behind it,” he said hurriedly as she climbed out into the sunshine.

“Ahh…afraid of the closet secrets breaking free?”

“Something like that,” he snagged her palm and began walking toward the main entrance. A sign directing people to the private celebration beneath the temporary canopy.

Chloe tapped Kate on the shoulder when she saw him approaching, two broad grins aimed in his direction.

“Hi, Cassidy,” Chloe held out her palm.

“This is what it looks like to pay off a shark,” Mac growled, dropping the cash into her palm. His head shook as she tucked it neatly into her bra. “That is just wrong.”

“I don’t know…I think I’ll enjoy it later,” Simon declared, his palm out. “Hi, Mac…she got you again, huh?”

“I’m going for a soda…you want something, Cass?”

“Water, thanks,” she said with a bright laugh. “He grumbled all the way here about the evilest one…”

“Yep…that’s me…” Chloe’s eyes suddenly lit up. “The karaoke machine is set up…” She announced in a sing-song voice.

“Seriously?” Cassidy was instantly interested, striding off with Chloe, chatting and gesturing.

Simon just shook his head. “This’ll liven up the place.”

Bella linked her arm with his. “You know I invite her along for other reasons than the fact that she can seriously get people involved in a party.”
