“You want to remove the mark of who you are and yet deep within you still act like us. Forget the past you say, what about me? I was in your past.”
Elertria walks toward the outdoor chairs in the orchard. There are ripe apples everywhere but my attention is not on that. My mother sits and she gestures that I sit down next to her. Her warm aura is gone, and now I am only looking at someone that I vaguely know.
“What are you doing here?” She asks.
“Mother… I… I saw you on TV. I thought-”
“On Earth, I mean. What are you doing here?”
“Father told me he was sending me to hell.”
“What did you do?” She drawls.
I watch my mother light a cigarette. I know what it is from the soap operas that I have been watching with Alice. She’d told me it is a bad thing that destroyed lungs. To protect my mother, I snatch the cigarette from her grip and crush it under my foot. Elertria ignores me and lights another one. She blows to my face. I do not flinch though I hate the smell of her lungs burning. Alice told me what the horrible smell is. Seeing that she won’t compromise her smoking, I go on to explain what had happened to me. She listens attentively until I finish though I left out the part about Alice. I want to surprise her. By then, she had smoked an entire pack.
“That’s what happened to me. So, why are you here? I thought you died.”
She cackles. “Died? We Soleroids die hard. Your father embarrassed me every time he sent me to Mother tree so that he can parade with another woman. I wanted to leave him but he warned what would happen to you and Kravis if I dishonored his name. So, I took the easy way out. Here, everyone wants me and not one cheats me. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the peasants here do anything we ask even if we don’t have money. It’s even better that I convinced a drug lord to give me his diamond mine. I have all I ever needed.”
I am hurt by that. “But… but you left me behind.”
“Oh, don’t be vain. It’s gain before loyalty. Besides, if you have the wit to kill your brother, you can be king! Gain before loyalty.”
“You are our mother!” I shout.
She scoffs. “Are our umbilical cords still tied?”
Elertria rises to return to the house. I watch her go. In all my memories, I remember a beautiful kind woman who was taken advantage of by my father. Now I have a chain-smoking evil woman. Was she ever who I believed her to be? And how come I hadn’t cried the day my father had announced she was gone. Even in childhood, I hardly knew her. I had only seen her photos and painted a picture of who I wanted her to be. Still, I think there is hope.
“I wanted you to meet someone,” I say, glad that Alice didn’t come along. I am not sure what my mother will say. I think she will be excited.
She turns to me.
“What, you’ve met some Earth girl. She is sweet and kind to you. Her body is softer than that of Soleroid girls and she listens to your petty stories?” There is no kindness in Elertries voice when she says, “She only wants gain Erien; everyone wants to gain.”
I want to shout at her. To tell her that Alice had found me when I had nothing, not even clothes on my back. She had helped me even before she know I was a Prince. However, Elertria is already making way back to the house.
“Where are you going?” I call after her.
“Why? You don’t think I will miss my first born son’s wedding.”
“But everyone thinks you are dead!”
“Then imagine their faces when I tell them I have ascended from hell. I am dying to see your father’s reaction... To be honest, I have been looking for an occasion to visit Solasis. I miss its beauty sometimes.”
I scowl. “You can find your way to Solasis?”
She turns and looks at me. “You are a Soleroid, you can do anything you want.”
And she disappears into the house.
Chapter 20
Alice
I am worried about Erien. I didn’t think he would overreact like that. I am simply not ready to meet his mother. She will ask me where I am from, who my parents are, and where I work? And then, when I answer honestly, she will think I am after wealth. I bite my lip until it bleeds. I am agitated. If Erien doesn’t come back soon, I will have to leave. He is the one who has the guts to stay in an unpaid hotel, not me. I am dressed in a small flower-patterned dress he shoplifted from a store. Somehow, no one ever stops him when he gets these things. He has an aura about him that let him get away with anything at all. I miss him.
A sudden loud bang at the door scares me. As a precaution, I moved a chair to block the doorway. It was only a matter of time before security knew we were squatters in the hotel. Damn Erien, will he abandon me like this?
The banging at the door continues. I freeze in fear. When the banging won’t stop, I decide to surrender myself to the security. A night in a cold ward might help me figure my life out, I grimace.
“Coming!” I shout.
There is no way out. I go to the door. Maybe I will take security I am a cleaning lady, or that my rich boyfriend has deserted me – I hope he hasn’t. I move the chair from the door and open it.
“What the hell, Alice!” Erien flies in. He is fuming. I am supposed to be relieved that it is only him and not security but instead, I shudder in fear. I can feel his rage.
“Did you find your mother?” I ask.
He stares at me like I have insulted him.
“That woman is not my mother,” he says, pointing an accusing finger at the TV.
“Erien. I am glad you came back,” I say.
He pauses to catch his breath. “Me too. Me too.”
And with deft fingers, he grabs me by the neck and kisses me deeply. I push my tongue into his and he sucks it as though his life depended on it. I did miss him. My body is sore with longing for him. He must feel the same because he lifts me up to his waist. My legs twirl around his torso. This time, he doesn’t speak or command anything. He opens his zipper, then moving my underwear with his finger, he plunges into me. His rod goes deep inside me and I only have to move up and down to sate him. Making love while standing up is incredible. His strong arms on my waist furiously guide my limp body. The quickie ends as abruptly as it started.
Erien carries me to the sofa. I feel his soft body inside of me as he seats. He doesn’t want us to be separate at all. I hug him in hope that he will be comforted. It is clear the meeting with his mother did not go well. I saw Indigo on TV again and her eyes are identical to Erien’s. They are definitely related. I can see he is hurt so I will let him tell me in his own time. Meanwhile, he can blow up as much of his frustration inside of me. Who knows, I might even get his baby. I hope it is a girl with Topaz eyes. I grin.
“Where have you always wanted to go?” he asks me in a resigned voice.
I study his sweaty face. He is serious. “I would love to live by the beach but an island would be nice.”
“Any favorites?” he asks.
“I don’t know. Hawaii… Barbados… Zanzibar. I am drawn to the sea. Will you never go back home?” I ask innocently.
He stares at me. At least he has used up all his anger in the rough quickie. He grins.
“If my mother expected me to stay with her, she gave no invitation. I left her house immediately and wish never to see her. Solasis is my home but I no longer want to be a Soleroid. Everyone is protecting their own skin, and even if my mother changed hers, her heart is coated in scales. I won’t return to Solasis!” He says.
I suppose I didn’t have to wait too long for him to tell me what happened. He trusts me. Finally! I kiss his lips to soothe him.
“I meant it when I said I want to marry you,” he says to me.
I shiver. “Why me?”
“You found me naked and yet you still wanted me. For once in my life, I want loyalty before gain… Alice, I love you.”
I feel Erien getting hard inside me again. I wriggle my bottoms to signal that I am ready for another round. He smiles his perfect smile. He th
rusts his hips upward so I feel him rigid inside me. Then Erien takes my tit into his mouth and bites it.
“How about another go before we go find that island?”
I let out a grateful moan.
“Yes,” I cry. “Let’s get married in Vegas, my King.”
His tongue plays with my areola.
“Anything you want and more, my queen.”
Chapter 21
Alice
The night is dark. The stars are out, moving in oscillation against the speed of the car. When I stare up to behold the sliver of the moon, my blue eyes water with emotion. The wind is a melody against my eardrums and the cold is a shroud over my slim pale body.
I only have to reach my slender arm to touch him; his smooth and slightly scaly skin gives me goose pimples. I like how his jaw is clenched in concentration while he drives. His eyes are focused on the private drive we are on. There are only trees around us, breaking up the wind as it comes to us.
Besides the swoosh noise of the convertible black and red Maserati we are in, the night is quiet. It is as though we are the only two people on the planet yet he seems so far away from me. I can see it from the silver of his eyes. There is some mischievousness there but I cannot decipher it. He has closed himself to me since I made him drive. Perhaps I shouldn’t have. It isn’t his nature. Many times I forget he is not of this world. And many times, I wonder what he is like in his own world. Is he the same man I know?
“Erien, my darling,” I say but my words are blown away by the wind.
If he has heard me, he shows no sign of it. The muscles on his hands are tense in the way he clutches the steering wheel. Something is on his mind and it kills me not to know. I just want to grab him by his silver streaked white hair and make him look me in the eye. He can never lie when our gazes are locked.
My hands reach out when suddenly I am jerked sideways. The car spins out of control in a brutal motion that brings a past incident to mind. A similar past flashes in my mind. If it isn’t for the seatbelt I am wearing, my body would have shot through the windscreen. I react too late when I consider Erien. In the blink of an eye, he is flying out of the Maserati like a cannonball. The sports car screeches to a halt when it smashes against a tree.
“Oh God! Oh God!” I cry.
I unfasten my seatbelt and jump out of the car, caring nothing for myself. My six-inch red stilettos inhibit my progress so I kick them off when I run to where my lover lays on the road. My light flowery dress blows in my face but I know exactly where I am going. I hurry to Erien’s aid. He lies flat on the road, his face facing the stars.
“Erien,” I whisper.
I touch his face. His skin is cold and the tinge of pale skin is turning a dark shade of grey. I worry. I try to check for his pulse even though I am not sure where his should be. He is not of this world after all.
“Please,” I beg. “Don’t do this.”
I am near to crying when I feel his strong arm against the soft of my cheek. His eyes are open and he is staring straight into my soul. I feel naked whenever he does that.
“Why do you fret?” He asks me in his sultry voice. I feel shivers run down my spine.
“I thought you were hurt.” I touch his face with my soft hands.
“I shouldn’t have put you in danger.”
“I should have let you carry me as you always do.” I let out a giggle of relief. “You are a terrible driver.”
He stares at me for a long moment saying nothing. I hold my breath. He has a way of making me weak. I don’t know what he wants. I can see he wants something from his eyes, but I can’t tell until he speaks it.
“Help me take off my clothes,” he says at last.
I blink. I am unsure whether he is joking or not. He gives me a look that tells me he is serious.
“W-why?”
He leans on an elbow and tears off his shirt. He lowers his long lashes to indicate that I should help him take off his trousers. My hands shiver even as I obey. My fingers trace his muscular calve as I help him out of his denim jeans. His crotch is covered in tight white briefs but I can still see the outline of his huge appendage. He is aroused. I feel my nipples tighten at the realization even though this isn’t a place I would like to make love. It is too cold out, and I do not trust that the bushes along the private drive are not concealing animals.
Before I can say anything, Erien stands up and towers over me. My knees scrape the rough ground as I look up to the mighty man who has promised to love me. He extends a hand to me and I take it. He helps me up. My forehead is level with his lips as he speaks.
“Alice,” he says to me.
“Can we take shelter? I am a bit cold,” I tell him.
“Later. I want you to know this first-”
I avert my eyes. His nakedness is doing things to my body. It is as if I am seeing him for the first time. And then it hits me. I know what he is doing. The first time I met him, it was on a starry night and the car I had been in had collided with him. He had been naked yet I had followed him anywhere. My heart wrenches with emotion. I can’t believe I forgot. It is indeed one year since we met.
“Erien. I can’t believe you remembered. I mean, I didn’t even.”
“You don’t have to explain yourself, Alice. I want you to know that I accept you as you are, just the way you accepted me even when I did not have any clothes on my back,” he says. “And for that…”
Erien gets down on one knee. I gasp in astonishment. He didn’t have to, and yet, right there and then, he reaches into his tight briefs. For a moment, I am afraid he will flash out his generous crotch to me. I don’t know what to think. And so, when he retrieves a 12 karat diamond encrusted engagement ring, I am blown away. My surprise is overwhelmed by laughter. Tears of joy flood my eyes.
“Where did you hide this?” I ask.
He grins, showing off his perfect white teeth. “I was hoping you wouldn’t ask.”
My free hand cups my mouth as he reaches for my ring finger.
“Alice Poacher, will you give me the delight of being your husband?” he asks. His eyes reflect the moonlight and it is a miracle that I haven’t melted to the ground already. I shiver but it’s not from the chill.
“Yes, yes, a big hell yes!” I exclaim.
He slides the ring onto my finger. It is a perfect fit. I am awed. How did he know my ring size? Forget the size, how on earth had he known the ring of my dreams? It is perfect. I wrap my arms around him and slide my tongue into his warm mouth. He receives me greedily. His hands grope my back and buttock. He is all over me and I love it. I am hot and breathless.
“Make love to me,” I gasp.
“Like that first time we met?” His voice is gruff with desire. I can feel his groin against my belly. It wants to be free of the tight briefs. I am dying to set the beast free.
“We didn’t make love the first time,” I remind him.
“I know.”
He gives me a devilish grin that sends me swooning. In a swift movement, he lifts me. He carries me toward the ruined car. When we get there, he sits down on the bonnet and sets me on his crotch. My blue eyes glint with knowledge. I know exactly what he wants.
“Do what you do, babe,” he encourages me.
I wriggle my ass over his fat balls. Like the first time, it will be a game of foreplay until we reach our new home. I will tease him with the moist between my legs until he explodes in his pants. His muscles tense more than before in anticipation and beads of sweat form on his brow. He is the kind of man that likes to feed whenever he is hungry but I have taught him that patience pays. Besides, it is our anniversary and we ought to hail it with the lovemaking style we’d met with.
I reposition myself over his torso so that the two lips between my legs are divided by the thong I am wearing. This way, the two soft yet powerful muscles will be able to grip his appendage even through his briefs. It works.
At first, we move our bodies in a slow rhythm. We stay quiet and let our bodies do the talkin
g. My moistness soils his pants. I feel him become stiff like a rod. I can even trace the veins on his crotch with my labia. I run against them, slowly, steadily and then with rhythm.
Erien is too manly to let me do all the work. He grabs my buttocks with both his arms and clenches them. I yowl as a hot sensation runs through my body. It is ecstatic and torturous to have him so near and yet not have him penetrate me. I make the best of it by grinding hard against him.
He leads my buttocks against his shaft. I squeeze hard to trap him. He rubs against me so hard that I am afraid he will rip through his briefs and plunge into me. I am ready to welcome his wetness. He is ready to take me, yet our memory is stronger. The wait will be worthwhile.
