Once Within A Lifetime Page 36

by Rose, Phyllis Georgina

“All of you have been married for a while and have lots of advice, though each of us has a different situation.”

They went into the dining room to eat dinner and continued to talk about various things they were planning to do after they got back and got settled. They were going to have to think about a work schedule soon and get some plans made. Especially for Todd. It may not be necessary for Triessa to get back into it too soon. I will depend on what’s expected and whether she gets some calls and show options.

After dinner they went out into the back yard. The flowers were beautiful. It was August and soon things would be changing for the fall season. Back home the chill of fall that came in New England would be arriving. The beautiful colors of the foliage would be making many changes at that time of year. They truly must be there at that time to capture all that. It would be a new thing for Todd. She was so eager to introduce him to so many things she’d taken for granted until she thought of sharing them with the one she loved. As she showed him, she had see them all in a new light and that would be very good.

Soon they decided to leave. They started their packing so they would have time tomorrow to do what they wanted after they got to the airport, checked in their luggage early and wandered around a while. They arrived and went upstairs to get things together. Even with the things they bought, they did not have too much luggage. They left on the light side to have room for extras they would pick up. It took them about an hour and a half to get it all together except for last minute things. They laid out what they would wear tomorrow. Tomorrow, she thought, How could it be possible? Tomorrow she would be going back home with her husband. A totally new situation and a very pleasant one at that.

Tomorrow was Friday and then it was Saturday, five weeks from their wedding. It was the day they would first see the Rose Garden again and come to a full circle. Their honeymoon officially would be over but many things could last all their lives.

They went downstairs. It was about time for dinner. She went in to watch Marjolaine; she liked to watch her cook and make arrangements for the dinner. Maybe she could help some. They would be having corned beef and cabbage for supper, a wonderful dish, especially when it was done by an Irish cook.

The cook told her, “It has been wonderful to have you both back here for a while. We are so glad to see Todd so happily married and know you will be around here often.”

Triessa replied, “It is been wonderful for me. I had never been this far in this part of the country before, though I have been in Monaco many times. It is a beautiful country and I love the shops in town. We went to a wonderful little restaurant there yesterday. It was just delightful.”

She recognized the place and commented on cooking there. “In fact, at one time, I had worked there. That is where Todd found me.”

That was hard for Triessa to think of, for she thought of her as always being here, but that did not happen until a few years ago.

At last dinner was ready and she helped carry it in to the table.

Todd was there and said, “Hey, what do we have here? A cook’s assistant? How nice you look doing that, my precious.”

They sat down and began to eat. The meal was delightful. This was a familiar meal for Todd. Triessa was used to New England boiled dinners which were similar. Her mother had always made it in a special way and she learned to do it the same way. She also learned to make her own mincemeat from venison and it was truly wonderful. She would introduce him to it this fall.

They finished dinner, dessert was brought in, and they sat there a while and took their time to finish it. They wanted all the nice things to linger as long as possible. They would be back here in the near future, but for now, they wanted to soak it all up until they got back. Each area had a different lifestyle and atmosphere. These they would adopt as they went on and experienced them. It was wonderful to reach across two different cultures and blend them, though much of each would still remain separate because there was no choice. Some things could not truly blend with others and must remain as a separate entity. This would always be his home and hers was across the sea. The things they had grown up with could not be removed from their worlds. They would share with each other, but it was still not totally able to be absorbed. One place would always be home for each of them. They could incorporate the two lifestyles as much as possible, but it would be hard to make them one because of the difference.

They finished and went to bed. She was getting anxious to get on the way now that it was in view. She would be eager to get back to familiar territory as she was sure he had been. They got the luggage all set together and got ready for bed. They got in bed, snuggled and held each other close and were grateful for this. It was so much better than being alone, although they had not realized what they had been missing. Now they knew and were grateful for the knowledge and experience. Life was going to be a real experience, that is for sure.

  CHAPTER 28

Friday turned out to be a little misty, which made it a great deal easier to leave because they had to limit what they could do. She thought, I hope this is happening on our Rose Garden. It will make it beautiful and fresh when we see it. They knew the vines were doing great and they would get back to them. They would bear some fruit this year but certainly not enough to do anything spectacular. They would be great to eat, however.

They went down and had coffee. While breakfast was being finished they sat at the table in the dining room. This would be an exciting day as well, getting back to the place where their life had started. He’d spent a lot of time there and now felt like it was home. It would seem even more so since he didn’t have to stay at the cottage but could set himself up as part of her house, their home. The breakfast soon arrived and they began to eat and think about the trip. It would be quite long but they did not mind as long as they were together. After they finished breakfast he went up to get the luggage to put in the car. He would turn it in at the airport and they would be free of such things. He would pick up her car at the airport when they arrived at her place and start back home.

Triessa wondered how things were going with her friend, Leslie, and Leslie’s new friend, Mitch. Also for Phylicia and her friend. Were things working out for them? What was happening? She’d soon know and was eager to learn. She was hoping for all the best.

“Let’s call your folks and tell them we are coming in tonight and will get in touch with them soon.”

He went to the phone, called them and her dad answered. Todd talked with him and told him what their plans were and when they would arrive.

“We will spend a couple days alone at the house to get back into the groove of things and we will get back to you. We have some nice gifts for everyone and want to get together to present them to you. We also want to get a copy of our wedding video. I believe Reese may have one for us.”

He let Triessa talk with the family a while.

“We will be excited to see you both again,” said Lincoln. “I have a copy of the wedding video here for you. Reese had it made and got it to me to give you upon your return.”

“Oh, wonderful,” exclaimed Todd, “Triessa will be so thrilled and eager to see it.”

They said goodbye to everyone and got ready to get in the car on the last leg of their journey. They would soon be at the airport, then they could go in town for a while to look around before they had to board the plane. As they left he asked her if she was excited. She nodded and smiled. They were on their way and soon would arrive to drop off the luggage. It could be placed in the line for loading onto the plane. They had an hour to wait so they planned to go into town to look around a while. They found some little shops and looked for some small items.

She saw a little item she would like to have in her bedroom and went in to get it. He saw a piece of jewelry he wanted to get for her, and while she was getting her item, he bought it to give to her on the plane. He loved to give her gifts and planned to do so every time he got a chance. They wandered around, but soon had to
get to the airport so they could board and be on their way home.

They turned the car in at the airport and went over to wait for boarding, which quickly arrived. Once on board, they located their seats and settled in for the ride. They settled down and knew they could do nothing until they reached the airport. It would be a long though pleasant, relaxing trip.

On the way they talked and he told her about the video being at her dad’s. She was so excited she could hardly keep from jumping out of her seat. They talked about what they were going to do when they got there and how long they would wait before they got back into the groove of life. It would be hard to plan now; they could tell more after they were there a few days. She would have a lot of mail to deal with and a lot to take care of, though she was sure all the major things were taken care of because she left a lot of it in her father’s hands. Some things would have to be taken care of during the whole time they were away. He had certainly taken care of many things that needed to be paid while they were gone. They also had some items being shipped from their trip overseas. This excited her and made her eager for them to arrive; some may have already.

He took the box out of his pocket that he bought at the store and passed it to her. She smiled, kissed him and opened the box. Inside was the most beautiful rose pin she had ever seen and resembled some of the work on her ring, though it could never match his creation. She showed it to him, held up her hand and held the rings close to it. He smiled.

“That is why I bought it for you, my love. You are like a Precious Rose to me.

“Thank you, my precious, what a wonderful person you are. I know I am the happiest woman on this great big earth for no one can possibly feel the way we do.”

They finally arrived at the airport, picked up the luggage and were surprised to see her parents there. They gave Triessa the video so they could watch it whenever they were ready. They were glad to see each other and hugged and talked a while.

“We were sure you would want to get home and get some rest; you look tired. It is late so we will come over after you have had some time alone there. You both look wonderful, tan, healthy and happy. Why don’t you call us when you are ready? We do not want to interrupt you; it is still your honeymoon.”

So they parted and Todd and Triessa went to her home, now their home. They were glad to be back there for a while now. He went inside to put the luggage in the hall. He came back and reached down to gather her up in his arms.

He stood for a moment at the entrance and reached down to kiss her, saying, “Welcome home, Mrs. Noble. I want to carry you inside and into a new life. Did I tell you I adore you, that you are very beautiful and I am the luckiest man in the world?

She smiled and nodded her head, “Yes, my darling, and you know I adore you and want to make you the happiest man in the world.”

She put her arms around his neck and he carried her inside. She snuggled against him and he stood there holding her in his arms. He kissed her, then set her on her feet. They held each other and kissed long and hard.

She reached up, ran her fingers over his lips and kissed him again.

“I have had the most marvelous honeymoon anyone could ever have and I am very grateful to you for that. I hope I have made your time especially wonderful. I am glad to be back home but it is much nicer because you are with me to stay. My whole life changed after I met you and I knew it would have to be us together for the rest of our lives. It truly is a whole new life.”

“Yes, my darling, my time with you has been beyond belief and description. You have been such a marvelous wife and lover. We, together, discovered heights of ecstasy we could never have imagined until we experienced it. Oh, my darling, my precious, I love you so much it is hard to put into words. I pray that one day I can do that adequately. But right now I am at a tremendous loss for words of description. I shall endeavor to find ways to explain it to you, but it is all so new and wonderful for us both. It will take a lifetime to do it all. We know it, have felt and shared it but it is simply indescribable. Thank you, my precious sweetheart, for all the joy I have experienced which could not ever have happened without you. I believe that what we have had can be experienced only when two people are together with hearts that blend and meld together as ours do. We will be fused together forever so nothing could ever separate these two beings. We cannot even tell where they are joined.”

“Sweetheart, this may sound like a strange request, though I know you will not think so once I ask it. I want us to get into our night here together. But as a prelude, can we go out to the Rose Garden first? The moon is bright enough for us to see. It should be exquisite with this moonlight sparkling moon dust all over. We have not been out there in the moonlight, have we? We can recount as much of the wedding joy as we wish. Then we can come in to spend our last honeymoon night here together, where we spent the first night of our married life. We will always have so many special meanings here. I am glad. I never dreamed when I planned this place that such a thing could happen. This is all a wonderful and spectacular climax to it all.”

“Of course, my precious princess bride, as you wish. I would be honored and pleasured to escort you to the wonderful and special Rose Garden which has been a tremendous focus for our lives together. What an awesome happening. I never ever could have imagined such a marvelous event prior to meeting you. Yet, as I look back at the whole beginning, I knew that something unbelievable had truly happened to me. ‘Chance meeting’? I did not believe it, not for a minute, for it has been too remarkable.”

They went back outside and walked hand in hand to the special Rose Garden. It was dark and much cooler than when they left. The lights were on, giving everything a special candlelight glow. As they got there he looked at her, took her hands, and led her to the platform where they had exchanged their vows.

He kissed her again as he had then and said, “Hello, Mrs. Noble.” He looked into her eyes and whispered in a sweet, slow voice, “I only regret that I could not have set up a spectacular dinner table here at this point. It could have been so memorable. I shall never cease endeavoring to come up with some fantastic experiences in our lives. I cannot, will not, allow it to be dull. You deserve such special and wonderful treatment, my darling. It will be a challenge to come up with ideas, but I promise you, here and now, at the scene of our wedding vows, that I will meet that challenge to my full ability and love, and make our lives as awesome as possible.”

“Thank you, my precious prince, I know you will do that, and I, too, want to add to your life every possible pleasure and thrill.”

They held each other here for a while in the place of their nuptials and new life’s beginning. Then they started toward the house with arms around each other’s waists and her head on his shoulder. They saw a beautiful full moon over the garden, shining down on them. It felt as if it were showering moon dust on them.

They walked back slowly knowing that the climax of this beautiful night would be a capstone for the rest of their lives.

She looked at him and sighed deeply.

“We can relive our wedding day. Reese took a video. It is wonderful to and excitement and relive this as often as we wish. We lived it but it will be great to watch. I sort of wish we had time to watch it now but it would take too long to watch. We’re tired and have a date and prior plans. Tonight is for us.”

They went back into the house and entered through the front portal. He opened the door, picked her up again and kissed her tenderly where he had first kissed her here in this special spot. He stepped inside with her in his arms, closed the door with his foot and went in the direction of the stairs, carrying her up to their first honeymoon suite. He stopped part way up and kissed her.

“Welcome, my darling, to the first night of the rest of our lives together as one. I want our love this night to be the most special ever. All this evening’s events have led to an emotional high that demands further satisfaction.”

He went up to the bedroom door, reached down to open it, carr
ied her into the room and closed the door. He laid her on the bed, reached down to kiss her and lead her on to emotional heights of grandeur.

He began to remove her clothes, kissing her lips, her eyes, her neck and her throat. She began to twist in ecstatic pleasure and longing.

He undressed and she pleaded, “Come, my precious, finish this time of ecstatic bliss and we can pass all previous joys on this special and wonderful night.”

He got into bed beside her and held her, raising her blissful expectations and going on to fulfill them until they both were consumed with joy and bliss beyond description.

“I love you, Mrs. Noble, with all my heart.”

  “I love you, my darling.”

They settled down to sleep in total relaxation resulting from their bliss and satisfaction. They had come back full circle in the most rich and rewarding experience of their lives and were home at their ROSE GARDEN.
