At the spa. Just before Mum died.
With that thought, she turned up the volume on the TV. The heartbeat. I was overwhelmed and struck with emotion. There was no point in holding back the tears, not any more. Not in front of Liam and Callum.
“Would you like to know the gender?” Joy asked.
I looked at Callum to see if he wanted to know.
“Yes,” he said eagerly, before I could gauge whether he did or not by his facial expression.
“Congratulations. You’re having a baby girl.” Joy was as excited as the rest of us. You could tell she loved her job.
I was having a girl. Growing my very own person. I could barely get my head around the fact that I was having her in the first place.
“We're having a girl.” Callum came over to me, held my hand and kissed my forehead that was sweating after hearing the news. I looked into his eyes lovingly as if nothing and no one else mattered. Liam wrapped his arm around Callum's shoulder, joining us. Our moment.
“Tamsin, do you have any name ideas?”
“Well…” Before I could answer, Callum looked at Liam as if they’d already decided. “We think she should be named after your mum.”
“Tessa,” Liam jumped in. “Or Tess for short.”
Perfect.
