  “Yes, but—”

“I’m not some spineless wimp, and I’m smart enough to know what I’m getting myself into,” he assured her when she tried to find the right words. “Whether or not there’s a demonic hunter on the loose, it doesn’t change a damn thing. We’ll still belong together, and we’ll still be stronger together than we are apart. I have a feeling this hunter gave it his best shot with you, the warrior descendants of the Seraphim. Now that LSI is on its guard and this demon knows we know about him, it wouldn’t surprise me if we never again hear from whoever set Father Vargas on the warpath.”

“I agree, but that doesn’t mean we should relax.”

“I’m not suggesting we should. I’m just saying there’s always going to be a reason to not build a future together, whether it’s a hell spawn hunter or some other problem waiting for us down the road. But problems mean nothing to me. My only ambition is to be with you, and if I have to I’ll move heaven and earth to do it. Nothing will stop me, Sara. Not even you.”

Something inside her dissolved, that last tenacious bit of insecurity that had been in her heart of hearts her entire life. He was telling her that she could trust him to accept her, to be there with her through the worst that life had to offer, and to revel in the times when the world was a happy place in which to be.

It was as he said. They belonged together.

“I’m not going to let this unknown demonic presence skate without at least sending up a distress flare,” Sara said, as a contentment she hadn’t known she was capable of feeling settled over her. “We need to somehow break the rule of Nephilim descendants never congregating, and meet up with others of our kind to let them know what’s going on. I just don’t know how to do it without bringing down the wrath of God.”

Gideon’s eyes narrowed in consideration. “I never went to Sunday school, but I’m pretty sure the Bible doesn’t forbid you guys from meeting on a Web site and exchanging information in a private chat room.”

“That’s a great idea.” Delight brought her out of her chair to slide onto his lap. At last, she had found the place where she belonged. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

“Macbeth would have come up with that solution eventually.”

“That’s not what I meant.” Still smiling, Sara framed his face in her hands and gazed at the man who had become her world. Both tender and tough, he was more than strong enough to contend with her strengths and weaknesses, and love her for both. “You make my life worth living. I love you, I need you, and while I can’t promise it’s always going to be smooth sailing, I can promise it’ll never be boring.”

“Sounds like heaven to me.” With a smile, Gideon brought her lips to his.

  Nobody’s Angel

Investigative journalist Kendall Glynn is horrified when a friend and colleague signs off permanently during a live newscast, jabbing a pen into his jugular. Kendall’s no expert, but judging by the strange white veil in the anchorman’s eyes, she would swear he was a man possessed.

A descendant of the accursed Nephilim, Zeke Reece prowls San Francisco by night, keeping the city free from paranormal phenomena. But even he is no match for whatever malevolent force is behind a recent rash of murder-suicides. And when a beautiful tenacious reporter becomes the next target, Zeke has no choice but to stay close to her, until he can find the evil spirit and cross it over.

The closer Kendall gets to the truth, the more danger she’s in. Fortunately, a sexy and mysterious masked stranger keeps swooping in to the rescue. Kendall’s life depends on finding who or what is responsible for the killings, before it finds her.

  About the Author

A competitive figure skater from the age of eight, Stacy Gail began writing stories in between events to pass the time. By the age of fourteen, she told her parents she was either going to be a figure skating coach who was also a published romance writer, or a romance writer who was also a skating pro. Now with a day job of playing on the ice with her students, and writing everything from steampunk to cyberpunk, contemporary to paranormal at night, both dreams have come true.

Where no great story goes untold.

The variety you want to read, the stories authors have always wanted to write.
