Lexy couldn’t help it, she knew that Adrianna was right, but she just found a job and a home of her own.
“You have been quiet, Bubba. What is going through your head?”
Mace heard Adrianna ask him, but he couldn’t stop staring at his mates. He couldn’t believe it. He had two mates and when he touched Lexy, it all came together. It was when they were connected, the light show exploded above their heads and the electrical current went through him. The love and the feeling of completeness came to him. His wolf had known all along, he should have listened to him. In that moment he made up his mind, he would make this work.
Mace looked up and made eye contact with both of his mates. “I will do whatever I have to do to make this work. I want you to know, Lexy, that I felt an instant attraction toward you the moment I saw you. I couldn’t stay away from you, but when Reece came along, I didn’t feel threatened by him like I did with Jacob and Declan. Hell, any man that touched you would throw me into a tailspin. I love Declan and Jacob, but it still pissed me off to see them touch you. I can’t explain it like it should be said, but when we were connected at the table, I felt complete for the first time in my life.” Mace got up and bent down in front of Lexy. “Does that make sense to you?”
No matter how scared she was, Lexy felt the same way. She felt complete and safe with two men.
Lexy nodded yes to Mace, but she still wanted her independence and she still wasn’t sure Reece wanted her to be his mate. Lexy looked up at Reece hoping she would get some kind of feeling that he wanted her and Mace, too.
Reece was staring at both of them when Lexy and Mace turned to look at him.
“I don’t think Lexy knows about my situation with my little sister. I’m her guardian and I can’t leave her just because I found my mate. She has been through a lot and trust is an issue for her so I can’t pawn her off to someone,” Reece sadly spoke.
“We wouldn’t ask you to, Reece. She will be taken care of by all of us. You will never be alone again. I have a huge house with lots of bedrooms and Star will be our sister, too,” Mace said.
“You would do that for me—for us?” Reece asked with a confused look on his face.
“Yes, I would and will,” said Mace.
Lexy got up and started pacing. Everybody in the room watched her pace, seeing how tensed her body was as she paced the floor. She felt like everyone was making decisions for her life except her. Her body was aching for Mace and Reece. However, she didn’t want this now.
“What is it, Lexy?” Adrianna asked.
“Something isn’t right. I feel like something bad is going to happen. Maybe this is too much too soon. You people don’t even know me. You will wake up tomorrow and figure out that you made a terrible mistake about me. I just wanted to start over here in Ashland. Have my own home and my own job. I never thought I would have a mate,” Lexy said, feeling unsettled.
“Lexy, no one is asking you to give that up. The difference will only be that you will have two mates to help you in life. You don’t have to work if you don’t want to. I can. Well, we can provide for you,” Mace said and watched as Lexy stopped pacing and narrowed her eyes at him.
“What do you mean I don’t have to work if I don’t want to? I want to work. I want my own money. I never want to depend on anyone again,” Lexy said strongly.
“Lexy, do you trust me?” Lexy looked over at Samson.
“You know I do, Samson,” she replied. Her shoulders sagged like a child. Samson was a father figure to her and she respected him tremendously.
“Then, sweetheart, tell me what you are afraid of? He won’t hurt you again,” Samson commented.
“Who?” Both Mace and Reece jumped up, staring at Lexy.
“You promised mother that you wouldn’t say anything. You promised, Samson. God, can’t I trust anyone?” Lexy started to walk out of the room when Samson grabbed her, hugging her to him. Lexy couldn’t help the sob that broke free from deep inside her. She had been holding in the fear of Cain returning. She was weary as she clenched her face in her hands crying as Samson spoke to her. Mace and Reece both growled as Samson hugged her.
“Oh, Lexy. I would never betray your trust. I will never tell anything that you don’t want me to. But Mace and Reece deserve to know. They need to know why you are holding back from them,” Samson added.
Mace and Reece wanted to grab their mate and console her, but she was distant at the moment. It would be a bad move if they did. Lexy had trust issues and they didn’t want to mess that up. She was hiding something. It was something that was so terrifying that she continued to run from it even now. Mace knew he would have to get to the bottom of this soon. He could feel the mating pull and he wanted his mate now.
“Okay, let’s try this. Lexy, you with me, baby?” Lexy sniffed and nodded her head at Adrianna. “Well, how about you three go home and start out trying to do things together, like a date night. Move into this slow so nobody feels rushed. Lexy and Reece both just moved here, so try having dinner at their house and get to know each other. How does that sound?”
“Sounds good to me,” Reece answered. He wanted to take this slow, but his body and wolf wanted Lexy now. He knew she was not experienced in the way of the wolves. They were very sexual creatures and he loved sex.
“Me, too,” Mace responded. Mace and Reece waited to see what Lexy would say. Mace knew that everyone in the room could hear his heart pounding in his chest waiting for her pending answer. “Okay. I will try,” Lexy mumbled. She felt completely bewildered. The relief was evident and it showed on Mace’s and Reece’s faces. Lexy frowned as she watched the others tell her how her life will be run. “Great. You can start tonight. Why don’t you three head out and have dinner together. Too many distractions here.” Mace and Reece both nodded their head at Adrianna.
Reece wanted to kiss his mate. He knew he should take it slow, but at this moment, he wanted his mate and not just to have dinner with her, he wanted her for dinner.
Lexy was about to get up when Mace and Reece were there standing in front of her. Mace put his hand out to help her up. Lexy hesitantly placed her hand inside his. Adrianna opened the back door leading to the parking lot so Mace, Reece, and Lexy could walk out the back door without being seen or disturbed. Adrianna knew that everyone would want to ask about the lightshow they had just put on.
Mace allowed Reece to help Lexy into his truck then slid in beside her. She was sandwiched in between her mates. Nothing was said as they drove toward Mace’s house. Lexy started to feel uncomfortable with the silence. She needed answers and the first question she needed answered was where they were going.
“Where are we going?” she asked.
“Good question. I don’t have any food in the house. I haven’t had a chance to go to the grocery store lately,” Mace replied.
“Well I know we have some leftover spaghetti that Nancy left. If that is what you want,” Reece answered.
Lexy cleared her throat. “I have a roast in the crockpot that should be finished and I have a pie in the fridge. If you want to come to my house to eat.” Mace and Reece looked at each other and nodded. They didn’t even have to think about that. Mace already knew that Lexy was a great cook.
“I think we will eat at your house,” Mace replied, and then he picked up Lexy’s hand and held it. Reece picked up her other hand and held it, too.
Lexy watched as both of her mates rubbed her hands making her body tingle all over. A soft current flowed through her as they touched. They drove the rest of the way in silence to her cottage. The closer they got the more nervous Lexy became. She knew that both of her mates were experienced, and she knew she definitely lacked in that department. She had never made out except with Mace, he was also her first kiss. Lexy was embarrassed to even think about it. She knew she wouldn’t be enough for these two Alphas. Lexy could feel the power exuding off them both. She was scared they would tell her they had made a mistake. As Mace pulled into the driveway, Lexy jerked her hands away.
It was so sudden that Mace growled from the loss of his mate’s hand. Lexy froze as she placed her hands over her ears. Reece looked over at Mace. He didn’t have to ask what he thought. Someone had hurt Lexy. She was skittish enough, but this wasn’t right when his mate was scared of him.
“Lexy? Look at me, baby. It’s alright.” Lexy slowly dropped her hands down to her lap. “I know you haven’t been around wolves much, but we growl a lot and not just when we are mad. Soon you will be able to tell the difference.” Mace reached over with his fingers and pulled her chin so she was looking at him.
“I growled because you jerked your hand away from me. I like touching you. No, I love touching you. I have to touch you.”
Before she could pull away again, Mace leaned over and kissed Lexy. She moaned as his tongue circled hers. It was like magic, her body knew what to do when he kissed her and she loved it. It felt so good and he tasted like mints.
Reece watched as Lexy kissed Mace. It didn’t make him mad. It made him hot. Reece had to touch her. The soft moans coming from her were making him harder. He could feel the zipper cutting into him. Reece reached over and rubbed up and down Lexy’s leg.
She stopped kissing Mace, took deep breaths, then she leaned back in the seat, blinking rapidly, utterly stunned at her actions. Then she shocked herself as she leaned over and kissed Reece.
Mace’s breathing had become erratic, too. He needed her now and inside the house, but he knew she wasn’t ready. She had been through a lot already today and he didn’t want to push her. He straightened himself before he cut the truck off.
“We need to go inside,” Mace uttered. He wanted Lexy, but if they were going to get to know each other, then it had to start now.
Reece helped Lexy down from the truck as she got her keys out of her purse and unlocked the door to the cottage. Mace’s stomach growled loudly when they broached the scent of a roast cooking. Lexy and Reece looked over at Mace smiling as his stomach growled again. It felt like months since Mace felt this hungry. He didn’t know if food was what he needed, but he needed his mates and for the first time he felt complete when they were together.
“You hungry?” Lexy laughed softly as she sat her purse down and went over to the stove and pulled out another pot.
“Yes, I’m starving.”
Lexy looked over at Mace who was looking at her with hooded eyes. Lexy got the feeling that Mace wasn’t just talking about the food. She looked away as she blushed from the intense stare. She opened the cupboards, bringing out ingredients to cook with.
Reece watched the interaction between Mace and Lexy. He got hotter watching her shyness as Mace openly seduced her.
Lexy cleared her throat before she spoke. “It shouldn’t take me long to make the gravy and rolls. Look around if you want. It’s not big but it’s mine. Well it’s Mace’s but for a while it is mine.”
“Lexy, it is your house now, too,” Mace responded as he walked around the room touching everything with Reece. Lexy watched as they walked into her bedroom. She couldn’t see what they were doing and her curiosity became too much. Lexy turned the stove onto simmer and walked into her bedroom where the guys were sitting on her bed talking. Their attention turned to her like wild animals were watching and waiting to jump on their prey. Lexy’s sex clenched at the site of her two mates. Both of their heads came up, sniffing the air and she blushed. She closed her eyes, embarrassed they could smell her arousal for them.
“Don’t turn away, baby,” Reece asked quickly.
Lexy opened her eyes as Mace and Reece stood beside her. She didn’t even hear them get off the bed. That’s how quiet they were. Yellow eyes greeted Lexy as she stared at the two aroused Alpha males. Both eager to reach out and touch her as their eyes glittered hotly at her.
“Never run from a wolf, baby, especially one who wants you more than anything,” Reece requested, growling.
“Umm, dinner is ready,” Lexy whispered as she hastily made her exit out of the bedroom. Mace and Reece both growled as she left the bedroom, trying to control the sexual urges that had formed from smelling her arousal.
Mace’s head fell backwards, and sighed loudly, as he tried to get control of the lustful needs that were not going to be fed. “I’ve never wanted a woman more then I want her,” Mace proclaimed.
Reece smiled as he leaned forward, taking deep breaths of air. “I know but we have to go slow, if we don’t want to scare her. She is like a scared rabbit seeing a wolf for the first time before it pounces. Except we are the wolves.” Mace laughed at the expression Reece used.
“I agree, but I want to,” Mace shook his head because what else could be said. They were both in the same predicament and they knew she couldn’t be rushed.

Lexy practically ran back into the kitchen, panting. She smiled as her thoughts drifted to her mates’ reaction to her. They act as if they’re attracted to me.
Mace and Reece walked back into the kitchen bringing her out of the lustful thoughts. Lexy looked in the stove and pulled out a pan of thick rolls. She put everything in bowls and set them on the counter. Reece and Mace got the dishes and glasses out and sat down at the small kitchen bar. “It smells great, Lex,” Reece praised.
“Thanks. I love to cook. I’m sorry it’s only this and not more, but I wasn’t expecting company.”
Mace grabbed Lexy’s hand, “This is just fine, Lexy, stop worrying about it.” Lexy smiled and squeezed Mace’s hand then reached in and pulled some of the roast off for her then pushed the plate toward her hungry mates.
No one spoke for a few minutes as they savored the food. “Lexy, you are not a good cook but a great cook,” Mace proclaimed as he chewed his food.
Reece nodded his acceptance and groaned as he spooned another piece of roast dripping in gravy into his mouth.
Lexy sat back admiring her mates’ hearty appetite.
“I hope you saved room for dessert. It’s a strawberry pie,” Lexy added. Mace stopped chewing as he stared at his mate. Reece coughed as he looked over at Lexy, too.
“What is it?” Lexy asked, nervous that she had said something wrong.
“Nothing,” Reece said as he cleared his throat.
“You make me hot, baby girl. I can’t stop myself from telling you how I feel. You smell like strawberries and caramel to me and when you ask me if I want to eat a strawberry pie, well, it conjures up a lot of thoughts for me,” Mace said hoarsely.
Lexy blushed as she looked away from Mace’s and Reece’s lustful looks. She wanted them, too, but she was scared. She didn’t know what to do. They would be disappointed in her and that was something she couldn’t bear at the moment.
Reece watched the different emotions slide across Lexy’s face as she tried to hold her emotions in. “Hey, let’s watch a movie then we can take a break and eat that pie you fixed,” Reece asked.
“Sure, that sounds great. Who wants popcorn?” Lexy responded happily.
Mace and Reece could see the relief on her face. They would have to go very slow with Lexy. She wasn’t ready to mate yet.
Lexy sat on the couch in between her mates as they watched Jaws. Mace and Reece teased Lexy because she had her legs up off the floor. Her hands were held covering her eyes as she peeked through her fingers. As the movie progressed, Lexy relaxed more, laying her head on Mace’s shoulder. Mace was in hog heaven, but he knew he was going to have blue balls after tonight. He would probably have to help himself out in the shower after he left Lexy or he would jump her before he got to see her tomorrow.
Lexy allowed Reece to put her feet in his lap as he rubbed them. Mace wrapped his arm around her telling her to lay her head in his lap. Lexy hesitated but laid her head down so she could continue to watch the movie. Once she got comfortable, Mace started playing with her hair as her eyes fluttered closed. The next thing Lexy realized was Mace carrying her to her bedroom. Reece pulled the comforter back as Mace laid her down. Lexy was so sleepy that she didn’t even flinch when they pulled her pants
off then covered her back up. Reece and Mace leaned over and kissed her on the forehead as they turned out the light and walked back into the kitchen.
“Okay, what’s the plan?” Reece asked Mace as he turned the sink faucet on so they could wash up the dishes.
“Well, it’s obvious she isn’t ready for us yet. We will have to do what Adrianna said and date her, letting her get to know us. After work every day, we need to have date night with her. She needs to meet your sister and we need to get them ready to move into the house.” Mace looked over at Reece who frowned as he listened to him.
“What?” Mace asked.
“We need to get Star ready, too. I don’t want to just upset her by moving her out of the house this soon.” Reece sighed knowing that Star had been through enough.
“I know, buddy. Listen, that's why she comes with us some on date nights so she can get used to the house and us. Tuesday, I will grill out at my house and we can show them the house and kinda get a feel for what they think.”
“Deal.” Reece and Mace smiled at each other then cleaned up the kitchen before they locked the door and went home.

Lexy could feel his hands grab her breasts and squeezed. “You are going to love it. Now be a good girl.” Lexy screamed, but his hand jerked up and covered her mouth. The pressure drowned out any hope of anyone hearing her. “Stop now or I will hurt you.” Cain pushed her head further into the table. Her head was throbbing from where he had already hit her. Lexy nodded her head as Cain got on top of her. He released his hand from her mouth. There wasn’t any color left in Cain’s eyes. His pupils had dilated leaving no color. “No, Cain, please don’t do this. Please!” Lexy pleaded as Cain smiled then slapped her. “I said shut up. You will love this, Lexy. I know I’m going to.” Lexy watched in horror as Cain unbuttoned his pants.
