“Save room for the rest of the food inside,” Ally said, motioning to the diner where the rest of the day’s celebration would take place.
Sonja made a mental note not to get too caught up in conversation since they’d have to drive down to their destination in New Mexico later that afternoon. “Frank, did we remember to change our hotel reservations?” she asked quietly.
His eyes grew wide with realization. “Oh shoot. I knew I was forgetting something.”
“Oh no,” she gasped. She knew things had been crazy but having an extra charge for not showing up at the hotel was the icing on the cake.
His expression melted into a mischievous smile. “I’m just kidding. I called them this morning and explained what happened. They changed our reservation without charging us the cancellation fee.”
“You jerk,” she teased.
“Of course I didn’t forget. By tonight, you’ll finally be in that large hot tub you’ve been dreaming of,” he smirked, wrapping his arms around her and planting a kiss on her lips.
“I don’t care if it’s in a hot tub, as long as it’s with you,” she said, leaning into him.
