She forced a smile on her face and said, “Handle your business, baby.” Trepidation seized her as she watched him walk towards the door.

Kiam knew that she was afraid for him. Like she knew him, he knew her just as well. He turned around and caught her wiping away a tear. “Eyez,” he said, lowering his gaze to her belly then lifting it back up to capture her eyes with his. “I love you. Try not to worry.”

“I can't help it baby,” she admitted on low tone as she watched him leave out and close the door behind him.

As soon as she heard the locks click she ran to the door and put her hands against it, “I love you too,” she whispered. It felt as if she was giving him her last touch.

She took a deep breath as she felt herself becoming overwhelmed and on the verge of breaking down. Pull it together Faydrah. You know he got it.

It took a few minutes for her to get her breathing under control. But when she did, she put the chain on the door and moved back to the couch, grabbed a pillow and hugged it snugly within her arms.

As Kiam headed into the city he tried to convince himself that Lissha was okay. He had noticed a change in her lately but he couldn't figure out what had caused it. He wondered if it was because he had told her about Faydrah being pregnant? If she was in her feelings over that it would explain her sending him to voice mail but why wouldn't she answer Big Zo's calls? And where was Treebie?

JuJu arrived at the twin’s house in full kill mode. He stepped out of his truck taking big steps in the snow making a path to the porch. When he knocked on the door Isaiah opened it. He was dressed in all black and a hoodie pulled over his head.

JuJu’s breathing was quick and intense causing thick smoke to escape his mouth with every breath.

“No word from Kiam yet?” Isaiah asked, moving to the side.

“Nah, I want you to head over to his house and hold post until we get back.”

  “A’ight. What about Bayonna?”

  “She straight,” JuJu said confidently.

Isaiah moved to the closet and grabbed his coat and tucked his guns and headed out the door. Isaac was seated on the couch taking a few shots of Jack to the head and loading his whistle. JuJu took a seat adjacent to his, took his cell phone out and laid it on the table. He stared at it for a minute then sat back and waited. He was hoping for the best but preparing for the worse.

Faydrah jumped when she heard the bell. Her first instinct was to go upstairs and get one of Kiam's guns. Then she remembered that she had ordered pizza. She moved to her purse and grabbed a fifty out of her wallet then walked to the door.

When she looked out the peek hole and saw the boy with the Dominoes cap her nerves settled down. Her mouth watered at the memory of the last time she had their wings. With a smile of anticipation on her face she opened the door. Boom!

The loud bang of the gunshot rung her ears and the delivery boy's brains splashed all over her face. His body lurched forward before crumpling down across her feet.

  Faydrah screamed.

“Shut up bitch!” barked the hooded figure, raising the gun up to her face.

Faydrah’s eyes grew wide with fear as she stared at the weapon. She slowly stepped back but the intruder stepped with her. The cold air whipped in the door causing her shirt to blow. But the cold eyes at the other end of the gun was unaffected by the frosty wind.

“What do you want?” she asked in a frightened tone. “Please. You can have whatever you want. I didn't see anything” She continued to slowly back into the house.

“Bitch, I don’t want shit you got except your life.”

Faydrah looked at the eyes of her assassin and the heat drained from her body. She felt wetness trickle down her inner thigh settling in a puddle under her feet. A haunting laugh came in her direction then she heard bullets being pumped into the chamber. Trapstar was barking and scratching on the backdoor.

The attacker lowered the gun to Faydrah's stomach. “Please, I'm pregnant,” she cried, covering her belly with both hands.

  “Yeah I know.” Pow! Pow!

“Noooooo!” she screamed as the first bullet tore through her left hand cracking her ring and entering high in her abdomen. The second bullet shattered her hip bone.

Faydrah fell back into the end table knocking the lamp over as her body crashed to the floor. Her heart beat fast as she tried to crawl away from the deliverer of death. She placed her hand on her stomach and began to shake when she saw all the blood that coated her palm. “My baby,” she cried.

“Take that little bastard with you to the afterlife,” the cold-hearted assassiness sneered. Then she stood over her and shot her in her beautiful face. “Die bitch,” she spat and shot her again before turning and fleeing out the front door.

Faydrah lay whimpering on the floor. She tried to move but her legs no longer worked. When she tried to lift her head blood filled her eyes and stole her vision. She wanted to cry out but thick warm blood filled her mouth and choked off her cries. Then she heard someone whispering her name but the unfamiliar voice was in her head. She squeezed her eyes shut and the voice grew louder.

  Death was calling.

Nooooo! Please! she cried inside. She wasn't ready to go. She wasn't ready to leave Kiam, they still had so much love to share, so many kisses to exchange and so many dreams to pursue. And what about my baby? Please, all I ask is for a chance to hold him in my arms and see the pride on his daddy's face when he comes into this world.

With the last strength remaining in her body Faydrah willed her arms up and wrapped them around her belly. Sticky blood covered her shirt and wet her arms. Tears ran down her face into her blood filled mouth as a loud sob came from deep in her soul. Death's call screamed her name drowning out her sobs. The louder it called the weaker she became.

As darkness began to envelope her, Faydrah slowly gave up the fight. She locked hands with the horrible fate that was hers and her unborn child's and surrendered to the cold and eerie silence of death. And with her final breath her thoughts left her and the baby and instead she prayed that Kiam would have the strength to send all their enemies souls to hell.
