  “What did you tell him?”

“That we’re a package team. There is no me without you. And I’d have to speak to you first to see if you were even willing to move to the UAE.”

“He didn’t object to a criminal and a person who consorts with criminals living in his country?”

“Seems he’s had a change of heart. First, Nikita has had a rather spectacular fall from grace, so the prince now considers his report about you as the ramblings of a rejected man. Second, the prince himself commented that you’d be a far better deterrent to keep me away from his wives than fear of expulsion. I believe his exact words were, ‘if you disrespect your woman, then you are not worthy of her.’”

“Did you have anything to do with Nikita’s downfall?”

Wolfe smiled. “I didn’t want him harassing you when we return to visit Natalya and her family. I should also tell you about the very unfortunate death of a hacker known as Pantera. She died of a drug overdose recently.”

  “What?”

“A woman about your age and description was recently found dead of an overdose. She can’t be identified and a rumor is circulating that she was the notorious hacker. You’re safe. And I will keep you that way.”

Kat wrapped her arms around Wolfe. She wanted to sing with the relief of having her past wiped clean. “So, we’re moving to Dubai?”

“Only if that’s what you want.”

“All I want is to be with you. So if you’re there, that’s where I’ll be, too.”

He put his hand on her face and she rubbed her cheek against his palm. “There is one small condition, however, that the prince insists on.”

  “Oh, and what’s that?”

He picked up her left hand and kissed her bare ring finger. “We have to be married.”

“Really?” She raised an eyebrow but inside she was dancing.

“Really. Want me to get him on the phone so he can tell you himself?”

She laughed. “You want Crown Prince Adjmani to propose to me on your behalf?”

“Well, you don’t seem to take me seriously when I ask.”

“Maybe that’s because you haven’t been doing it right.”

“How can I not be doing it right? I’ve gotten down on one knee, both knees, I’ve been dressed in a tux and holding a dozen roses, I’ve been naked, I’ve asked first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Hell, I even asked when I was buried so deep inside you, I didn’t know where I ended and you began. What more do you want from me?”

“I don’t want anything from you. I just want all of you.”

“Darling, you have all of me. Always. Forever.”

  “Then we have a deal.”

  “What?”

“Wait here.” She rushed into the bedroom, quickly changed, and then returned to the sitting room. While browsing online she’d come across her dream wedding dress and lingerie. The gown was still to come but the underclothes and veil had arrived this afternoon.

Wolfe turned around as he heard her return and nearly dropped his drink. “If that’s what you’re going to wear to our special day, we’re going to have the shortest ceremony and reception in the history of weddings.”

“Don’t be silly. I’m going to wear a dress as well, but I’m all for the simple ceremony, and we don’t even need a reception. As neither of us have family, at least, not ones able to come, we could just have a registry office wedding.”

He crossed over to her, his hand caressed her cheek before lifting her face up for his kiss. “No way. We’re going to do this right. When our children ask, we’re going to bring out photos and bore them to tears with the details.”

“We’re going to have children?” Her heart couldn’t get any happier.

  “When you’re ready.”

“In time. I want you all to myself for a while.”

He swung her into his arms and headed toward the bedroom. “In the name of efficiency, though, we should keep practicing.”

“I’m all for efficiency.” The rest of what she was going to say was lost in his kiss. Playing with his equipment never got dull.

I’m getting married to Remington Steele.

Then he swept her into a vortex of pleasure so intense she couldn’t remember her own name. Didn’t matter, it was soon about to change again.

  This time for good.
