“Well, girl,” said Bess. “The only advice I can give you about that is that you should talk to him about it. I think he is attracted to you, at least he seems to be based on the way he looks at you. If he is attracted to you, I think that warrants a conversation.”
With that said, and their lunch finished, the two friends drained their respective coffees and headed back to work.
Chapter Three
James was hard at work when Diana returned. He smiled at her as she entered and said, “Have a good lunch?”
“It was alright,” said Diana. “I wasn’t really hungry. Did you eat?”
“You bet,” said James, leaning back and putting a contented hand on his stomach. “One thing you’ll learn about me pretty quickly is that I absolutely cannot survive even a single day without three square meals.”
Diana laughed and said, “You eat so much. Where does it all go?”
James snorted and said, “I work out, too, you know. I run five miles a day, and swim for an hour. It all gets burned up in all that exercise. Leaves me with enough room in my stomach for as much food as I want.” James finished his sentence with a wink.
Diana sat down to get some work done. After about an hour, James approached her, saying, “Diana, I think I’ve found a problem here.”
“What is it?” said Diana, looking up to see a piece of paper he was bringing her. Now that he was so close, she could smell his cologne and it was absolutely intoxicating.
“Well, I was looking through our client list,” said James. “And I found out that we supply real estate to this corporation. It’s a farming company, and we provide them with abandoned urban plots that they use to implement their new urban farming techniques.”
“Alright,” said Diana. “What’s the problem?”
“The problem,” said James. “Is that some of the farming they are doing is against city greenhouse gas laws. They are allowed to plant crops and harvest vegetables, but they use some of the urban farmland we provide to house livestock. This is against city regulations and we know it. We know that they are doing it.”
“Well, we can just stop supplying them with property now that we know,” said Diana. “We don’t want to get in trouble or sued, particularly when Richard is bedridden.”
“Yes, I agree,” said James. “But this company actually gives a lot of money to our company to help them get farmland. They are trying to move their operations entirely into an urban landscape because countryside real estate is starting to become so expensive.”
“Hmm...” said Diana thoughtfully. “You do have a point.”
“There’s also a lot of things that I need to run by you,” said James. “There are employee requests for pay raises, a lot of employees are quitting and want severance packages after my dad’s illness. We also need to deal with our realtors. We generally outsource to a real estate agency except for a few cases but this is actually unprofitable.”
“Where are you getting all of this stuff?” asked Diana, amused and impressed.
“It’s an actual file,” said James. “My dad has a tendency to avoid problems until they actually turn around and bite him. This isn’t going to fly. I was thinking that we could look at some of this stuff and actually streamline things, try to get as much done as possible. When my dad comes back, wouldn’t you want to give him a business that is running smoother than ever before? I just want to fix all of the mistakes he made back when he was depressed. Give him the company he had worked hard to make before that woman he married came in and broke his heart.”
Diana looked at James tenderly, and said, “We can stay at work late tonight. I agree, we should give Richard a smoothly running company as a welcome back present. He’d love it, it would make him so happy.”
James gave her a wide smile and said, “Great. We’ll tackle all of this after everyone else has gone home. We have too much work to get through while the business is running during office hours to look at any of this stuff properly.”
Diana smiled at him, and he returned to his seat. There was a knock on the door.
“Come in,” said Diana.
It was her secretary, or rather, Richard’s secretary who was working for her at the moment. “What’s up, Amelia?” asked Diana.
“It’s some guy,” said Amelia. “He was a client of yours who you dealt with right before Mr. Walker got sick. He said that he wanted to cancel his deal about a certain property, says that he’ll only talk to you about it.”
Diana froze. “Amelia,” she said. “What’s his name?”
“Uhh... Robert, I think,” said Amelia.
Diana groaned.
Chapter Four
Diana answered the call. “What is it, Robert?” she asked curtly.
“Diana,” said Robert. “I just needed to talk to you. It was important, I’m sorry I called like this.”
“It’s fine,” said Diana. “Just say what you need to say.”
“Well,” said Robert. “I’m not buying the house.”
“Alright,” said Diana, somewhat confused. “Is that it?”
“No,” said Robert. “I just wanted to meet you. To discuss the deal, you know. Maybe renegotiate?”
“No, Robert,” said Diana. “I don’t want to meet you. Why are you doing this? You know what you’ve done, you know very well. Why are you pressing on as if nothing has happened? Don’t you realize how wrong what you did was?”
“I do!” said Robert. “I do, I really do. I’m trying to apologize. I thought that if I eliminated our professional relationship, it would mean that you would be able to go out with me. We would be able to do this properly, I mean. Because I won’t be your client anymore, you won’t have to worry about anything.”
Diana laughed rather wryly. “Do you really think that that’s the reason I left you that night? That had nothing to do with it. You not being my client anymore will have nothing to do with me being with you. I just can’t accept you anymore, alright? It’s over. I was fun, but it’s over.”
“Come on, Diana,” said Robert. “We had something. It was real.”
Diana glanced at James. She decided that it was important to tell Robert what she had done, but she most certainly did not want to do it in front of James.
“Wait,” said Diana as got up and went outside, walking into the smoking area and locking the door behind her. She realized that doing this was not the best way to go about things, because people would probably want to smoke and she would be preventing them from doing so, but this was a conversation that she had to have and there was nowhere else she’d be able to have this much privacy.
“Listen now, Robert,” said Diana. “And listen well. You may think that we had something ostensibly real, but it wasn’t, okay? Both of us were just using each other.”
“I wasn’t using you,” said Robert. “I swear—”
“Oh, for fuck’s sake,” Diana snapped. “Do you not care at all that I basically just told you that I was using you? Are you so self centered that you’re not even going to ask me how I was using you?”
Robert was quiet for a moment before saying, “Go on, then. Tell me.”
Diana took a deep breath before saying, “I used you, Robert. The morning after we had had sex, I woke up from a dream, really wet. I had been dreaming about someone. Someone I was... attracted to. When I was wet that morning, it wasn’t because of you, it was because of this person.”
“Oh,” said Robert.
“I started masturbating, thinking of him with you beside me,” said Diana. “When you started to fuck me, I was imagining it was him fucking me. That’s why I told you to not talk while you fucked me, because I was so turned on by even the thought of him, by even pretending that you were him.”
Diana could hear Robert gulp. “I’m not saying this to hurt you,” she said. “I am just saying this to make you realize that what you thought we had was a lie. We had good sex all night, but the next morning, all I wanted was this person. I keep thinking about him, I keep want
ing to be with him. To be honest... I was not entirely fair with you. Right before your fiancée called, I was going to tell you that it wasn’t going to work out between us.”
“Why did you react that way then?” asked Robert.
“Because I felt betrayed,” said Diana. “I thought that you had been genuine. Now that I think about it, I realize that I wasn’t completely genuine with you either, so I had no real right to get angry at you.”
“I swear that I was not trying to use you,” said Robert. “I just... for some reason, I wanted you. I wanted to be with you, to be around you. I couldn’t help it. I wanted you so bad, I just couldn’t help it.”
“I wanted you, too,” said Diana. “But at the end of the day, you are with your fiancée and I... well, I’m interested in someone else. It’s as simple as that.”
Robert was quiet once again. Diana decided to let him speak. After a little while, he said, “Well, that’s not what I was expecting.”
Diana laughed and said, “People are hardly ever what we expect. Even when we discover something about someone, it doesn’t define them. I know you cheated on your fiancée, but I think you’re still a good person.”
Robert laughed and said, “You’re still an amazing person, even though you pretty much used me as a sex doll, and pretended that I was someone else.”
“We both made mistakes,” said Diana. “Let’s just move on now.”
Diana cut the call before Robert could respond. She had started to feel that he was trying to inch towards reconciliation, which was something that she really didn’t want.
Chapter Five
The day was long, but where it ended for everyone else, it was only half done for Diana and James. They both had a lot of work to do.
They ordered something to eat and got right to it. There were a lot of kinks that they had to iron out to get the company running smoothly once again. The process took them well into the wee hours of the night, until finally, James gave up.
“Good God,” he said, leaning back in his chair and stretching. “It’s past midnight and we’re not even halfway done.”
“Did you really think it was going to be that easy?” asked Diana. “We’ve actually worked incredibly fast, I think we’ll be done after just one more session like this. I would’ve thought it would’ve taken us four nights in a row to get this work finished.”
“I guess we just work well together,” said James with one of his mischievous grins.
Diana returned the smile, albeit tiredly.
“How do you know so little about running a business?” asked Diana. “This is your father’s business after all.”
“I was a vice president at my old job,” said James. “We don’t run companies, we help the CEOs run them. How do you know so much? You’re practically as good at this as my father is. You’ve never run a company before, have you? And we were at pretty similar positions.”
“I just picked things up very quickly,” said Diana. “Richard was my mentor. Having a great teacher who gave me plenty of hands on experience meant that I was able to learn what it meant to be running such an important business very quickly.”
“You’re amazing, you know that?” said James. “You do know that, don’t you?”
His voice was more earnest now, taking on a husky timbre. He was leaning forward, looking at her intensely.
“I...” said Diana. “Thanks. You’re not too bad yourself.”
James smiled, got up, and opened a cabinet, from which he extracted a bottle of whiskey. “Care for a peg?” he asked Diana while pouring himself a glass.
“Oh,” said Diana. “No, I really can’t. We should be working, you know.”
“Oh, come on!” said James, pouring her a glass. “You’ve been working your ass off. I can see how exhausted you are. Besides, you said yourself that we are way ahead of schedule.”
Diana looked at the glass of whiskey and had to admit that she wanted a glass. It had been a crazy couple of days, and some relaxation was just what she needed.
“Alright,” said Diana. “But just one glass.”
And so her and James sat and drank. “This is excellent,” said Diana.
“Yeah,” said James. “It’s part of my dad’s stash. He keeps the most ancient whiskeys here at work where he should be as sober as possible. He hasn’t been drinking as much as he used to, but he still keeps his bottles here.”
“So, I was saying,” said James. “You know you’re amazing, right?”
“Why do you keep saying that?” asked Diana.
“Because I know that you have not been told that as often as you deserve,” said James. “You’ve felt that maybe you’re not as good as everyone else. I think you are absolutely incredible, and I just want you to know that.”
“Really?” asked Diana coyly. The alcohol was starting to take effect, removing her inhibitions.
“Well,” said James. “Apart from your talent, you have excellent cheekbones.”
“Cheekbones?” said Diana with a laugh. “Really? That’s all you could come up with?”
“Well I could have just said that you have a great ass but that wouldn’t have been classy,” said James with a grin.
Diana laughed and said, “You don’t have a bad ass yourself.”
James raised an eyebrow and said, “Really now?”
Diana nodded, still coy, unaware of how seductive she was being.
James leaned forward until he was extremely close to her. “I can’t believe how fucking good you smell,” he said to her. “You’re one to talk,” she replied, her breathing getting heavy.
It was then that James kissed her full on her lips. She savored the taste of him. It had only been twenty four hours since their last kiss, but she felt as if it had been a decade ago.
What had not been able to transpire last night began to transpire now. Both of them stood up and began to undress one another. James undid the buttons of Diana’s blouse, Diana did the same to his shirt.
She managed to get his shirt off first and buried her face in the scent that seemed to emanate from his chest. She pushed him back until he was lying down on the desk, and then climbed onto him to straddle him.
James frantically undid the zipper of his trousers as Diana hastily took her panties off. Within moments, he was inside her, and Diana gasped to finally feel him in there, finally feel him spread her open. All this time, it had been his cock that she had wanted, all this time she had been wasting beating around the bus and he was finally inside her.
Diana began to rock back and forth, enjoying the feel of him, the thickness, how hard he was. James was moaning underneath her. He pulled her down, taking her bra off as she continued to make good use of his cock.
“You like that?” she breathed onto his chest as he threw away her bra. “You like being inside of me, baby? You like fucking me?”
“Fuck yeah,” said James, taking her nipple into his mouth. As he sucked on it, Diana whispered in his ear, “Say it... say you like fucking me.”
“I love fucking you, baby,” said James. He grabbed her hips and began to take control of the sex, thrusting upwards, rubbing her clit with his thumb as his hand was pressed against her stomach
“Oh, God, James,” said Diana. He flipped her over, tucking her knees into her chest. He was unbelievably deep into her now, and was holding her arms together over her head by her wrists. He was thrusting harder now, and working her clit. Stroking it, even pinching it, he really knew how to make her clit feel good.
Diana was feeling the orgasm build up inside her. “Oh, James, oh, James...” she said. “Just like that, James, please... just like that...”
She gasped as she felt his cock plunge deeper into her. She slid her hands up his back, her nails raking his skin as she slid them back down.
“James, I’m gonna come...” said Diana. “Oh, God, please make me come, James, please...”
James was going slowly now. He pulled his cock out and began to thrust it against her clit. The sti
mulation was incredible. “You like me fucking your clit, Diana?” said James.
“Oh, God, yes!” said Diana. The orgasm hit her then, she felt it rising up inside her and exploding. At that moment, she could feel James coming inside her, too.
They lay there on the desk, the various papers they had been looking at scattered around the office, gasping and holding one another in each other’s arms.

Chapter One
From a mishmash of colliding images and through a pounding headache, Diana finally awoke. She opened one eye at a time, struggling to get a grip on where she was.
For the past few days, she had been unable to sleep for very long, and it had started to take a toll. Last night, however, she had gotten even less sleep than she usually did.
She suddenly started to wonder what happened last night. She couldn’t even remember coming home at all, which was odd. What had she been doing last night?
Diana had a sudden flashback to hands and kissing and...
With a start, she jolted upright. It was suddenly crystal clear what had happened the night before. She and James had had sex. They had been at it at the office, getting drunk on Richard’s expensive whiskey, and they had eventually gotten a taxi and come back to her place.
