Man of the House: An Older Man Younger Woman Romance Page 105

by Sarah Rowling

“You are going to wear me out.”

“Oh come on.” She swatted at him as she slowly rose from the bed and made her way over to her clothes. “I have to get there before the trucks do. I need to make sure everything goes as planned with the delivery. You know. Make sure the right stuff goes on the endcaps. With the new grocery manager now, I need to make sure he is trained the right way.”

“I’ll take care of that. You do whatever else you gotta do. You can trust me to handle the truck.”

She stood there for a moment as if she was thinking about it. She smiled when he gave her a look that told her plenty and then nodded. “Ok. That would be great. Thank you.”

  “Anytime, sweetness.”

  “Hmmm. Sweetness. I like that.”

“Good. That’s my new name for you.”

She laughed as they quickly slipped into their clothes and shut the door behind them before heading to the elevator.

Charlotte quickly slipped into her car a few minutes later and was soon on her way to the store. She watched with a smile as Jeffrey pulled into the parking lot right as she did.

At this point, she really didn’t care if anyone knew about them. Jeffrey was right. He was a manager and so they weren't breaking the rules with fraternization. Plus, she wasn’t really breaking her rule either since he was going to be going to another store. He would be in the same position she was which would work out great.

The only other problem she had with them being together was the age difference. He was younger than her. Much younger.

She knew she needed to figure things out, but she also told herself that right now she was just having fun. She just hoped he wasn’t getting in too deep. That was the last thing she needed.

  Chapter Four

Charlotte looked out the window of her SUV and saw Jeffrey looking at her in a puzzled look, like he knew what she was thinking.

She quickly smiled at him to reassure him that everything was ok. When he saw her smile, he got from his car and waited for her to begin walking to the store.

Charlotte knew that by now people were talking about her and Jeffrey. She didn’t know how people in the store knew what was going on with other people’s personal lives, but somehow they knew. It was as if some of the ladies, especially the older ones, had some sort of radar on their heads that beeped whenever mischief was around.

Charlotte looked around as she walked into the store with Jeffrey by her side. She knew it was probably her own conscience that caused her to worry about what others thought, but she could have sworn that the workers were looking at them.

Deciding it was nothing, she smiled at the people passing by and kept walking until she reached her office.

She had a lot of paperwork she needed to get done tonight and she needed to get it done soon. She had been so absorbed with everything else going on that she hadn’t paid enough attention on her deadlines.

Charlotte sat in her office a little while later with her music going softly. She was humming along as she moved the numbers around on her screen.

She sighed as she stretched her back. She was getting stiff from sitting there for so long. She stood slowly and sighed again.

Walking from the small office, she made her way out into the store. She needed a break from the computer. She was rounding a corner in the sporting goods when she heard his voice.

It was amazing how she knew the deep timber of Jeffrey’s voice by now. It was so different than when he had first come. If she was honest with herself, though, she would admit that it really wasn’t. She had known him by his voice then, too.

She smiled at him as he turned to look in her direction. “Hey. I was just going over some stuff with Bernard and the guys. I told them what you said about the endcaps and stuff.”

“Great. Thank you.” It was amazing how much she felt like a kid then. The butterflies came back then.

She felt giddy and excited and didn’t really know what to do or where to go. Even though it was her store, she felt out of place all of a sudden.

She nodded and continued to walk on. She knew that Jeffrey could handle things. She knew that he would make sure the store was done right.

She continued to walk around the store talking to the employees and marveling at the decorations that were so quickly being set up. She was in her own little world and didn’t hear anything going on around her.

In a rush, she felt something grasp her leg. And looking down, she looked into the smiling face of her son.

“Mommy guess what daddy said. He is going to get me an airplane. The one with the remote control like in your window.”

“Oh really. Well, do you think that it is wise with Santa coming so soon?”

“Yeah. Daddy said that Santa will know. He said that it is ok for daddys to get their sons gifts too. Is that ok, mommy? Huh, is it?”

Charlotte looked up to meet her ex-husband's eyes. She knew what he was doing. He was trying to buy his way back in. She knew he had money.

Plenty of it and it seemed that he was going to flash it around to prove that he could take care of them. She knew that he could take care of them. That wasn’t the point. The problem had been him and how he took care of them.

It was unethical the way he paraded around there and she almost rolled her eyes at him when she nodded at her son.

“Yes, it is fine, Travis. Daddy can get it this time.” She glared over at the man in front of her. She knew that he would just argue with her and the last thing she wanted was to argue with him.

“Ok. Let’s go find it then, Travis.”

  Chapter Five

Charlotte watched as the two of them made their way away from her and towards the toy section of the store. She turned then to see Jeffrey making his way toward her. He had a smile on his face as he saw her.

“Hey, sexy. Have I told you how much I have dreamed of bending you over your desk?”

“Stop it.” She laughed as she swatted at him. He gave her a look and wiggled his eyebrows towards her as he took her hand in his own.

He brought her hand up to his to kiss it slowly. She pulled from him quickly glancing around to see if anyone saw them.

“Will you stop it? Someone may see us.”

“So. I could take you in my arms and kiss the hell out of you right here and now.”

“Yeah, huh, no. What’s going on with you?” She laughed as he smacked her ass before walking away.

“So what are you sleeping with kids now?”

She turned to meet the angry look in her ex-husband's eyes. “What are you talking about?” She didn’t know why she tried to hide it. It wasn’t like she had anything to hide. They weren’t married anymore and she could do what she wanted.

“Really Charlotte? Come on. I thought you said you weren’t seeing anyone?”

  “I’m not really.”

“Yeah well, then what was that?”

  “None of your damn business.”

She watched as his eyes turned pleasant as Travis ran up to them with the toy in his hand to show her.

  “Mommy, it’s blue. My favorite.”

“I see. Wow. That is some airplane, huh? Now you are going to take care of it, right?”

“Yeah, daddy’s going to show me how to drive it and play with it.”

  “Cool.”

“Ok, honey. I will see you for dinner then. Travis wants to go to the pizza place with the arcades. I will come by and pick you up so we both don’t have to drive. Plus, I have the truck and Travis likes riding in it.” She was shocked when he leaned over to kiss her cheek lightly.

She suddenly felt his arm around her waist.

Charlotte was shocked by the display of affection. Why was he being so nice now? He had walked away. Just left her and Travis as if they didn’t mean anything. Like she wasn’t good enough and now he was kissing her.

Charlotte looked up then and she had her answer of why Robert acted the way he had just then. Jeffrey stood at the end of a
n aisle looking at her.

His face was full of confusion. She knew he was close enough to have heard the conversation she just had with her ex.

She didn’t’ know what he was thinking at the moment but she could tell by the way he was looking at her that it wasn’t good. He had emotions flicker across his face then. Hurt and wonder were the most relevant.

He didn’t’ say a word to her. Instead, he just turned and started to walk away from her.

She stood there for a moment in shock. She was trying to register everything that had just happened. The moments that had just passed went through her brain then in a rush as she recollected what was said.

She knew then that Robert had spoken to her the way he had and had kissed her like he had for the purpose of pissing off Jeffrey. In turn, he had confused him instead. She needed to find him. She needed to make things right.

She made her way down the aisle and in the direction he had gone. She didn’t know what was going to happen now. She just knew that she liked him way too much to let things end like this.

She needed to find him and fast. She needed to fix things quickly.

She started to walk through the store looking down each aisle that she came to, but there was no Jeffrey to be found.

She asked a few employees if they saw him as well but there was nobody who had seen where he went to.

She had almost given up when she began to walk back towards her office. The store was closing and she knew that he had left for the day.

He would normally wait for her but she knew that today there was no way that he would. Not after what had just happened.

She slowly made her way into her office and sighed as she shut the door behind her.

“What was that Charlotte?” She jumped at the sound of the voice. Her head came up slowly as she met Jeffrey’s eyes with her own.

“Sit down, Jeffrey. I think we should have a talk about a few things.”

“Ok.” He sat on the edge of the couch as she sat on the edge of her desk and looked at him.

“I like you, Jeffrey. A lot. That is why I am going to explain what is going on.”

He didn’t say a word as he sat back against the back of the couch.

“That was my son that you saw. His name is Travis. I understand that kids are a lot to take in but he is my life and he is a part of me.”

“Oh come on Charlotte. You know good and damn well that your son was not the problem. I love kids. You know what the problem is.”

“Yes, I would assume that would be Robert. Robert is my ex-husband.”

  “Ex?”

“Yes. We have been divorced for over a year. He has come by a couple of times to see Travis, but that is it. That is until yesterday.”

  “What happened yesterday?”

“He called me last night and said he made a mistake.”

  “A mistake, huh?”

“Yes. Then he showed up at my house this morning. He took Travis on a day out and that was supposed to be it. He was not supposed to show up here.”

“So are you getting back together then?”

“No. Not at all. Me and Robert are over. It just isn’t that simple.”

  “Yeah.”

  “I want you, Jeffrey.”

He shook his head slowly as he opened the door to the office. “I can’t.”

Charlotte watched him walk from the office. She waited a couple of seconds before chasing after him.

She knew there was nobody left in the store and after pushing on the alarm she made her way to the parking lot.

She had to run to catch up to him. Grabbing his hand, she began to pull him to the back of the building.

“What are you doing?” He looked at her and she smiled slightly.

“Showing you that it’s you I want.”

Pulling him to the little alcove in the parking lot that was completely shaded in the dark, she unbuttoned his pants and grasped his cock in her hand.

Before he could say a word she had dropped to her knees in front of him. She could feel the hard asphalt sink into the skin of her knees but she didn’t’ care.

The place and way she was going to give him a blowjob made the action that more exciting as she slowly licked his cock from the base to the tip. Over and over she licked his length until he was shining with her saliva.

He grasped her hair in his hands as she began sucking his length and working him in and out of her mouth.

His cock was large around and she had trouble fitting his full length into her mouth as she slid him into her throat.

“That’s right, baby. Now suck me hard.”

He grabbed her head as he began to thrust fast into her mouth over and over. He moaned deeply right before she felt him erupt in her mouth.

She did the only thing she could. She swallowed and swallowed. And when he was finished, she sat back on her heels and smiled up at him. The shadows hid his face from her, but he reached down slowly to help her to her feet.

“Point taken, Charlotte. I still think you should take a day or two and think about things then we can go from there.”

She nodded as she stood. “Ok. Fair enough.”

He kissed her lightly as she slid into her SUV and then stood there as she drove off.

  Epilogue

  Chapter One

Charlotte looked at herself in the mirror. Where did time go all of a sudden? It seemed like just yesterday she had been trying to figure out when to put up the Christmas tree.

Now she was trying to decide between two different men. Who knew what was going to happen next.

She sighed slowly. She liked Jeffrey a lot. She could be herself with him and have fun with him. There was no making sure everything was right for him because he was happy no matter what.

The sex was hot. It was more than hot. It was smoking and phenomenal to say the least. She could feel herself become flushed just thinking about it.

She thought of Robert then. He had been a great husband and father in the beginning. She remembered the way Travis’ face had lit up when he saw him as well. He had been so happy to see his father. But was that enough?

She shook her head sadly as she thought of the reason they were divorced. Robert had left her and their son for a woman who was 10 years older than her. Not that Charlotte thought of herself as hot, but come on.

She knew why he had done it. They both did. They woman had money and had quite possibly saved his business. But his life of glamor must not have been that great.

She knew her decision. No matter what she thought about him being in Travis’ life, she couldn’t take the chance of him walking away again. Not just hurting her, but her son as well.

She remembered something she had heard from one of her friends then. Once a cheater, always a cheater. It was as simple as that.

Taking one more look in the mirror, she headed out to her car. It was time she put things straight between her and her ex-husband. She needed to move on with her life and as long as he kept showing up and distracting her then it would never get done.

As she slipped into the driver’s seat a smile spread across her face. She thought of how long it had been since she had felt this happy to smile. Then she thought of how often she had been smiling lately. She knew it was all due to Jeffrey.

She turned the little switch to turn on the radio and soon, the
music flooded the car while she sang along.

The car pulled up outside the hotel and she made her way inside. She took the small trip up the elevator and stood in front of the door that was marked 314. She looked at the numbers and felt a feeling of de ja vu.

She had barely knocked on the door before it opened. As the door swung open she was greeted by a young blonde wrapped in a sheet.

  “Hello,” She said perkily.

“Hi. I must have the wrong number.”

“It’s not the room service.” The young blonde squeaked as she looked over her shoulder to what must be the bed.

“Alright then come back to bed.” The deep voice was one she knew well. She froze in mid-step of turning around and gawked past the woman.

The man on the bed quickly sat up when he saw her. “Charlotte.”

The blonde looked from one to the other with a confused look. “You know her?” She asked softly.

  “Yes. She’s my wife.”

The young girl’s eyes got wide as she looked at her. “Don’t worry I’m his ex-wife and I will continue to be. That’s what I came to tell you. I am happy with someone else. It doesn’t look like you will have any problem moving on. Oh, and from now on you need to call me to set up a time to see my son. If you have time for that.”

She didn’t’ say another word as she made her way to the elevator. She was thankful that the bell rang out announcing the opening of the doors as she got there so that she wouldn’t have to stand there and wait.

Just as she was about to step through the doors of the elevator she turned back to see Robert. He stood there with a weird expression on his face. Regret, sadness and yeah, a little jealousy. She walked into the elevator and walked away from one life and into the next.

  Chapter Two

Charlotte made her way to the store. She needed to talk to Jeffrey and fast. She needed to make him understand that he was the person she wanted to be with. He was the one that made her feel alive and made everything seem worthwhile.
