Man of the House: An Older Man Younger Woman Romance Page 110

by Sarah Rowling

I was careful not to step on the squeaky boards in the center of the hall, and tiptoed past him as he aggressively pushed the buttons on the remote. “Where do you think you’re going?” he asked, up quickly, moving towards me as I rushed towards the door.

I slung back violently, his hand gripped onto the strap of my backpack, pulling me back away from my only escape.

“Leave me alone,” I screamed at the top of my lungs.

My only hope was the neighbors hearing my screams, and possibly coming to my rescue, or at the very least, calling the cops. The unfortunate problem was, screaming was normal coming from this particular apartment. So how would they know it was me and not my mother this time?

“You aren’t going anywhere,” Gary said, his eyes turning black, and his nostrils flaring with rage.

“You can’t make me stay,” I said, gritting my teeth as my eyes narrowed on the man my mother thought good marriage material. Fucking idiots, both of them. I wasn’t staying around for what he had planned for me. I knew my mother, how she hated that I was young, and she was growing old. She was jealous of my youth and my beauty, and for some godforsaken reason, she thought I was leading Gary on, possibly even trying to steal him from her. Yah, what a catch.

She wouldn’t believe me, not way. I knew that. She’d say I wanted it, that I led him on, and then she’d throw me out on my ass anyway, ridding herself of the problem, at least in her own drunken, demented mind. Fuck!

“I’ll scream, and the cops will come. I’ll tell them you tried to rape me,” I warned, giving him an unyielding look.

“Where ya gonna go? That football star’s gonna have pussy knockin’ at his dorm room. He don’t need you no more,” he chuckled, wiping the slobber from his lips. His body pressed so close to mine that his hard cock pushed from his pants onto my side.

“Don’t worry about where I go,” I snapped, jerking my strap from his hand, and moving towards the door.

His hand gripped my arm, twisting me around from my exit. I was focused on his eyes, his mouth, and what he was going to say, what he was going to do, I didn’t notice him lunge for the keys in my hand. “That trucks mine,” he said, a gleam of excitement in his eyes as he retrieved my only means of transportation.

“I paid for that truck. It’s mine,” I demanded.

“You forget whose name it’s in?” he snorted, dangling the keys above his head.

My heart sank deep into my chest, and my world began to spin out of control. The truck came from the shop where Gary worked, and even though I bought it with money I’d earned, it couldn’t be put into my name as a minor for insurance reasons. Why hadn’t I changed the title the day I turned eighteen?

“That’s fucked up, Gary,” I yelled, only seeming to amuse him with my anger.

“What a dirty little mouth,” he smirked.

“Give me my keys,” I screamed.

“You want your keys? Earn em’,” he whispered, moving his face so close to mine I could taste his breath.

I turned, quickly grabbing the doorknob to the front door, opening it without the resistance I’d expected.

He didn’t try to stop me, and he didn’t come after me. He watched me leave, smiling the entire time. “You’ll be back,” he warned.

There was no way I was ever going back there, even if I had to walk the entire seven-hundred and fifty miles. He could keep the beat up truck. It’d probably not make it out of the county anyhow.

The cool summer night air hit my face like a slap as I stepped out of the apartment building. I walked down the sidewalk, looking up at the light in the window, knowing he was in there, smug, satisfied, and hungry to have me crawl back and beg for his help.

I took a deep breath, sucking in the sweet California air. The highway was only twenty or thirty miles from where I stood.

I slung my backpack from my shoulder and pulled out my purse. My phone was almost dead as I looked up directions to Phoenix. Tears welled in my eyes as I looked at all the different highways I needed to travel, and how far it actually was from where I stood.

My heart ached to call Scott, asking him to come rescue me, but I knew he wouldn’t. He was right. It was time I done something with my life. Time that I done something on my own.

  Chapter One

Every car that slowed as it passed me on that dark sidewalk make my heart race, fearing I’d end up on the news, my stepdad, Gary watching, drinking a beer, and laughing as they announced I’d been smuggled into a sex trafficking ring. Serves her right, he’d snort, and then change the channel.

I’d overestimated my speed, or miscalculated what time I thought it would take me to walk the nearly thirty miles to the highway.

By the time I made it to CA-99 S, the sun was already coming up. A thick fog filled the air, making walking along the shoulder of the nearly desolate highway.

When cars would fly by at seventy miles an hour, my flesh would crawl, and my heart would pound.

US-50 E signs were posted, letting me know it was just barely two miles ahead. Two miles, nearly an hour as I recalculated the time I was making. Then what? Another two-hundred and fifty hours of walking? Why was my math so fucking accurate now, and not when I took a pop quiz in Mr. Thompson’s class? If only I’d studied, got better grades, I could’ve received a scholarship. Maybe not to Harvard, but possibly to Notre Dame so I could have stayed with Scott.

Another sign displayed that my next turn was only a quarter mile up the road. My feet ached, my body was beginning to lag, and my spirit was almost broken to the point of turning around when a large semi pulled to the shoulder just ahead.

As I approached the large purple truck, with no company logo on the trailer or the rig, the passenger door flung open.

“It’s not safe, or legal for ya to be walking out here,” a man so thick, his belly hit the steering wheel as he spoke.

I stood at the open door, looking up at the man wearing a John Deere hat and a smile that made me feel safe. Not like the smile Gary gave me, but a genuine, sincere smile.

“Well, jump in if ya wanna ride. It isn’t exactly legal for me to be pickin up hitch hikers neither,” his southern accent rolled from his tongue.

  “I wasn’t hitch hiking,” I quickly defended.

“You wanna ride or don’t ya?” he asked, extending his hand across the passenger seat to help me inside.

He was a stranger, a trucker, and I knew it wasn’t smart to trust him. But, as ironic as it may sound, he appeared to be more trustworthy than anyone I’d ran across in my life at that given moment.

I was in no shape to refuse a ride. I was tired, sore, hungry, and oh so tired.

“Thank you,” I said, smiling, and taking his hand.

I’d never been inside a big rig before. The seat was soft, and bouncy. The dash seemed to be a million miles away, and bobble heads of hula dancers with large tits lined it, still dancing from the rumble of the large engine.

“Where ya goin?” he asked as I shut the door.

“Phoenix,” I said, leaning back in the seat and enjoying the comfort before I was possibly slain.

  “Wooeee,” he howled.

“That’s a long ways on foot. You break down along the way?” he asked.

“No. I’ve been walking. Just from Sacramento, about thirty miles or so,” I explained.

  His eyes
narrowed on me as his lips tightened. “You ain’t no runaway are ya?” he asked.

I shook my head, quickly slinging my backpack to my lap. “Here,” I said, pulling my driver’s license from my purse to prove I was legal.

“Don’t ya have family?” he asked, his voice filled with compassion I wasn’t used to.

“My only family is in Phoenix. My grandmother,” I smiled at the thought of being in her home again.

“I can take ya as far as Las Vegas,” he offered, pulling the rig back onto the road.

“That’s about three hundred miles from where ya need to be,” he made it to US 50 E in just minutes as he spoke.

“That’s great. Thank you,” I sighed with relief, even though I knew the route was slightly of course. At least it was in the right direction, away from Gary.

It wasn’t the entire way, but it was better than any other option I had at the moment.

“So, you’ve been walking awhile?” he asked, his eyes kind and warm.

  “About nine hours,” I admitted.

“Why don’t ya hop on in back and get some rest. There’s a fridge in there, as sub if ya want it, and plenty of snacks,” he offered.

I was hesitant at first, not sure if my tiredness, or my aching feet had my judgment whacked out. Maybe he was dangerous, and I was just too desperate to see it.

  Chapter Two

“I won’t bite. We got a long drive ahead,” he urged.

  “Okay,” I replied, still resisting.

“My name’s Jacob Lanford, and I can assure you, I’m harmless,” he insisted with a laugh.

“Well, I guess I wouldn’t admit it if I wasn’t,” he added, still laughing.

His eyes were too honest, too kind to be harmful, and his laughter contagious, as I joined in at the thought of a serial killer admitting what he planned to do to his victim.

“Thank you,” I crawled into the back, raided the tiny fridge for the sub, and a soda that he’s offered so kindly, and scarfed it down within seconds of unwrapping it.

“I’ll be stopping every couple hundred miles, so if ya need to pee, or anything at all before then, just holler,” he instructed over the loud engine.

I nodded, fell back against the large pillows, and pulled the itchy wool blanket up to my neck.

I closed my eyes and pictured Scott, his hard cock in hand, his seductive smile, and those beautiful eyes. Why did I run away?

My pussy started to swell as I imagined Scott’s tongue gliding past my clit, sucking on the flesh between my legs, bringing me close to orgasm.

My climax close to release, suddenly the rocking motion of the truck that had soothed me stopped. Scott was gone, only my stepdad lifted between my legs, his smirk wild and his eyes filled with a disturbing hunger. He wiped his face, gripped his large cock, and smiled as he threatened invasion into my tight pussy.

A loud horn sounded, pulling me awake. Thank God!

The first stop, I hadn’t even realized I’d fallen asleep, let alone made it two hundred miles further away from my stepdad.

Jacob bought me lunch, even though I tried to pay for my own meal, and his. “You save your money,” he ordered, not taking no for an answer.

The second stop, I used the restroom to clean my essentials, pussy, under tits, and underarms, and grabbed a handful of junk food and a large fountain soda, and stayed up in the passenger seat watching the road, and talking to Jacob.

I didn’t tell him everything, but I think he read between the lines when I described my mother and her husband. “I have two stepdaughters,” he said, sounding frustrated that I was dealt such a lousy hand in life.

“I’d do anything in the world for those girls,” he choked up a bit as he spoke.

Looking into his eyes, hearing the tone of his voice soften when he mentioned his stepdaughters made me envy them. “They are lucky to have you,” I smiled, reaching over and placing my hand over his.

“Get some rest. We have a weigh station to go through, and you can’t be seen. Besides, the miles go by faster when you’re sleeping. That’s how I got through the last two hundred,” he laughed.

The third stop, I woke before he stopped, noticing the change in the sound of his engine. I sat up, crawled into the passenger seat, and stared out at all the lights. I’d never seen so many in my entire life. It was Las Vegas. It was beautiful.

“This is as close as I can get you to the action. Cabs are everywhere, and cheap,” he pushed a wad of money towards me.

“No. I couldn’t,” I insisted, refusing to take the cash.

“I’ll sleep better tonight knowing you’re safe. Take the money, and get yourself a room,” he insisted, pushing the wad back towards me as he stopped in a large parking lot.

I felt sick taking the money, but only because I owed him so much already. “Only if I can pay you back,” I argued, taking a pen and piece of scrap paper from my purse.

He gladly wrote his address and his number down on the paper, and handed it back to me with the cash he insisted I take.

“If you need anything, call that number,” he ordered as I climbed out of the large truck, and took my first step on the Las Vegas earth.

“Stay on the strip, where all the action is, it’s safer. Find one of the smaller hotels, if you act like you’re there to gamble, they’ll practically pay you to stay,” he called out as I shut the door with a nod.

Man, what would it be like to have a dad like that? He was so worried about me, and here I was, hundreds of miles from home, and my stepdad probably thought I was just a few blocks up the street. And my mom, hell, she most likely, had no idea I was even gone. I would’ve just been happy to have a stepdad that wasn’t trying to shove his big, fat, hairy cock into me every chance he got.

The lights were intoxicating, bringing me towards them like a moth in the dark.

“You need a ride?” a cabbie asked, pulling up beside me.

“Just to the strip,” I said, climbing into the back seat.

I could see the lights, but I knew enough from my long walk, that things are often further than they appear.

Five dollars to go just a few long blocks, but it was worth it. My feet were riddled with blisters, and I would’ve paid him three times as much to go half the distance. I pulled out the wad of cash that Jacob had left me, counting out almost eighty dollars. I gave the cabbie one of Jacob’s fives, and then a couple of my stashed singles for a tip as I exited.

I stopped under one of the casino entrances, using the light as I counted my cash. With what Jacob had given me, I had one hundred and sixty-five dollars. It wasn’t much, but it was more than I started with, and I was more than halfway to my grandmother’s house.

“Come inside, play the big wheel to win a free buffet,” a woman wearing a tuxedo jacket and little else said, handing me a card. Her lipstick was bright red, and so thick that when she smiled she reminded me of the joker in the ‘Batman’ movies.

The junk food I’d eaten at the last stop wasn’t enough to last as long as I’d slept. I was hungry, and a buffet in Las Vegas sounded more than amazing, so inside the casino I strolled, ready to win dinner.

The sound inside was wildly chaotic, bells, whistles, dings, and chatter all swarming me like a million bees. The soreness I’d felt before walking in, and the sleepiness that was still lurking from my long slumber in the back of the truck all faded as the lights and sounds invaded my brain.

I walked over to the big wheel where a woman with dark skin, long blonde hair, and a look of boredom on her face stood behind the counter. “You wanna play?” she asked, seemingly uninterested if I said yes or no.

  “I can win a buffet?” I asked.

“If you’re lucky. You certainly look lucky,” she perked up as I pulled out my cash.

“How do I play?” I asked.

“Place your bet on any number, or several if you wish. I’ll spin the wheel, when it stops, you win if it’s on your number, doubling your money, and gaining you dinner,” she sounded so con
vincing.

“Minimum bet is twenty dollars, placed on one number, or spread out over the board,” she added, motioning her hand over the areas displaying the numbers on which to bet.

A buffet in Vegas had to be more than twenty bucks. I had extra money, and like I’d said, I was half way to grandmas already. “Okay,” I agreed.

I started to count out ones when she informed me the bet on each number had to be at least five dollars, so I pulled out four of Jacob’s fives.

There were dollar amounts, a joker, and a casino symbol on the board where I could bet. I looked at the wheel, trying to figure out what to do, and eventually just placed a five on the joker, the casino, the five, and the two, since there seemed to be plenty of those on the wheel. All I had to do was land on one of those four numbers, and that buffet was mine. I could already taste the sweet crab meat with melted garlic butter on my lips.

  Chapter Three

The woman gripped the wheel tightly in her hand, pulling it down before sending it upwards with a forceful thrust. It spun so fast it made me dizzy to watch, but I couldn’t take my eyes away.

It finally slowed, inching closer and closer to the Joker symbol. “Joker pays forty to one,” a man said, his voice startling me as my eyes moved from the wheel.

“Forty to one?” I asked, my heart beginning to race. A five dollar bet could bring me two-hundred bucks, just like that?

“Good luck,” he whispered as the wheel slowed, and dial dangled at the joker, convincing me I’d just won two hundred bucks.

“One,” the lady by the wheel announced, I was certain before the wheel completely stopped, and the dial jumped.

Her hand slid across the board, scooping up my twenty dollars without hesitation. “Here’s a free buffet for playing. Just take this voucher to the casino window with your ID,” she said sweetly, handing me a slip of pink paper.

“My ID?” I asked, confused why I’d need to prove my age to eat.
