Chapter One
“So, I take it Martin Adler won’t be back around this ranch,” Billy said smugly as he pulled Laura into his arms.
“No,” She said after a long pause.
Billy’s body was warm from the sun, his skin pressing hard against Laura’s breasts and the scent of his masculinity drifting under her nose as she lay there nude in his arms.
“What’s wrong, you aren’t gonna miss that bastard are ya?” Billy asked with a chuckle.
“No, of course not,” Laura said.
Her eyes lingered towards her chest, unable to look up into the blue of Billy’s.
He pulled back, his grip loosening on her and lifted her chin with his hand to force eye contact between them.
“What’s wrong?” He asked once again.
Laura felt her eyes welling up with tears as she stared into Billy’s concerned face. His expression was filled with fear and confusion, and she could feel his heart hammering hard against his chest.
“What happened last night, did he hurt you?” Billy asked, his tone anxious and his expression changing to anger.
“No,” Laura reassured him.
“Then what is it, Laura?” Billy asked.
“Martin told Daddy that we were–,” Laura said, cutting off before repeating the vulgar word Mac had used.
“You told him the truth right, about how I protected you from that monster?” Billy asked, his eyes filling with fear once again.
“Yes, and he believed that to be true, but the rest–,” Laura travelled off with her voice once again.
Her eyes drifted to her chest, her hot breath pushed against her skin as she struggled to swallow.
“Laura, I love you, he has to understand that, I’ll make him understand,” Billy said sternly.
Laura let the tears drop from her face as Billy stood above her. His manhood dangled proudly between his legs as he reached for his pants.
“He will never understand,” Laura said sadly.
“I had to promise him to stay away from you in order for you to keep your job,” Laura said.
“You are more important to me than a job, I’ll find another job,” Billy said.
Laura watched as he slid his pants on one leg at a time. He pulled on his belt, tightening it around his waist and then slid into his tight T-shirt.
His eyes lingered on her nude body as she lay in the grass. He knelt beside her, his hand travelling up her leg and past her ass cheeks as he smiled.
“All I want is you,” He told her sincerely.
“Your parents need you, and there are no other jobs,” Laura said.
“So, you are saying I should stay here, see you every day and not act on my urges to kiss you, touch you?” He asked.
“We’ll find ways to be together, but we have to be careful,” Laura said.
“But, for now, we should stay apart, just to make Daddy think I have stayed true to my promise,” Laura said sternly.
She fought back the tears that were pushing through her eyes. Her throat closed tightly as she swallowed hard and her mind raced with thoughts about Billy, and how she was going to control her urges for him, let alone control his for her.
“I can’t stay away from you,” Billy said.
His hands pulled at her ass cheeks, spreading them to reveal the warm cunt he had just occupied. His smile was shifty and seductive as he licked his lips.
Laura felt his finger slide between her cheeks, her pussy lips parted so he could penetrate her soft flesh as her back arched towards his hand. She wanted this man so badly, not just to fuck her so skillfully as he did, but for the rest of her life to love.
“It will be tough not to touch you,” Billy said as he slipped his finger deep inside of her warm cunt.
Laura moaned with delight as he pulled his finger from between her legs and brought it to his lips.
“I will keep your delicious flavor on my lips for now,” He said.
His hands pushed her gently to her back and then moved to spread her legs. Her cunt was open, revealed in full glory to his beautiful blue eyes.
Billy lowered between her legs, his tongue lingered around her clit, sucking on the nub and tugging it gently between his lips as she let out another moan.
His tongue slid between her pussy lips, hard and forceful it penetrated into her cunt, lapping up the juices he claimed to cherish until they were able to be together once again.
Crackling branches pulled Laura from the state of ecstasy, alerting her to someone nearing their site. Billy looked into her eyes from between her legs, sucking one last tug on her pussy as he stood and grabbed her clothes.
He pulled her hand up and helped her to her feet. She gripped the clothes he shoved at her and quickly ran into the woods to get dressed.
Her heart was racing hard as she could barely make out the figure of Hector exiting the path and coming into view where she and Billy had just been tangled together.
Chapter Two
Laura watched as Hector approached Billy. Her heart beat so hard she feared it could be heard from the bushes where she hid.
Billy’s voice seemed confident and strong, not shaky as she expected hers would have been. They were almost caught, not just together, but with his tongue pushed between her legs deep into her cunt. If Hector was who her father was commissioning to watch her and Billy, he would have surely been fired, and she, she didn’t want to think of what he would have done to her.
“I need some help in the stables,” Hector said.
Laura felt relieved when Billy ushered him back onto the path and towards the stables, away from her.
Once enough time had passed, and she felt confident that they had made their way back to the stable, Laura ran through the woods away from the path and toward her house.
Clara was on the front porch, sweeping the debris from the storm off the steps when Laura ran past her.
“Child, where are you going in such a hurry?” She asked.
Laura ran into her room, unwilling to look the woman in the eye. She knew her guilt and shame was written all over her face, and with one glance into her eyes, she knew Clara would surely know what she had done.
A tap at the door and then it creaked open. Clara stood in her room staring at her while she flung herself to her bed.
“Your father should be home shortly, you might ought to get cleaned up,” Clara said.
Laura felt relieved that the woman hadn’t scolded her, but her heart continued to race at the thought of facing her father.
She quickly dressed, smoothed out her hair and went into the kitchen where Clara had disappeared to.
“Love is a funny thing,” Clara said calmly.
Laura sat at the table, her eyes lingering on the woman’s back as she spoke.
“It can cause you great joy, and great pain as well,” she continued.
“The trick is, knowing if the joy is worth the pain,” she concluded.
Laura watched as she turned to her, her eyes were wide and bright. She let her lips curl into a genuine smile and placed a bowl of stew in front of her at the table.
“You are probably starving,” she said.
Laura was starving. She gripped the spoon and started slurping up the stew that was placed before her and avoided making any comment to what Clara had said.
She thought about it, won
dering what it meant, and if the pain she had felt with Billy was worth the joy. It was, she decided. The joy she felt when she was with him was greater than any she had ever felt before. He was in her heart, her mind and her soul, he was becoming one with her, she knew that.
Mac entered as Laura finished her stew. He smiled softly at his daughter and gave orders to Clara to have the twins harvest the beans before the next rain.
“We will have a guest for dinner tonight,” he added and then walked out of the kitchen.
Laura’s heart sank at the thought of Martin returning to the ranch. Her daddy rarely had guests over, and when doing so, it usually had to do with business, or her hand, or a mixture of the two.
Clara gave Laura a knowing glance and a disappointed smile.
“It looks like your daddy isn’t giving up so easily on marrying you off,” Clara said.
Laura felt weak as she pushed the bowl away from her. Her eyes stared into Clara’s for hope or answers that she wanted. Her eyes were dark and sorrowful, and Laura knew that if anyone knew her daddy, it was Clara and that her assumption that another gentleman caller was being invited into the ranch was most likely true.
Laura walked out of the kitchen and to the porch where her father sat enjoying a cigar.
“Who is the guest for the evening?” Laura asked softly.
Mac turned to her, his lips curling into a smile.
“It’s just business, no concern of yours,” he said harshly.
Laura felt relief that he hadn’t promised her hand to another, so soon after what happened with Martin, but still not convinced that wasn’t the plan.
“Be on your best behavior,” Mac warned.
“Yes, sir,” Laura replied.
“Harvey Whitehall is a very impressive man, young and already taking on more than most men,” Mac said.
The name was familiar. Whitehall, that was a ranch her daddy spoke of from time to time. He often compared their own to that one, stating that if he could get to that level, one of a large, successful ranch in a large city he would be able to expand and take over the market.
“Whitehall?” Laura asked.
“Yes, Harvey is the son, a bright young man with impressive business skills,” Mac said.
“What business do you have with that ranch?” Laura asked.
“A merge of sorts may be just what we need,” Mac said.
“I need time away, and on my own, I cannot leave here, so there are some things I would like to entertain,” he said.
He rocked back and forth in his chair, puffing on his thick cigar. His eyes stared out towards the stables, his expression that of a rock and his attention unscathed by Laura’s presence.
She left him sitting on the porch to his thoughts and went inside to help Clara and the twins with dinner.
Chapter Three
When Clara heard of who was coming to dinner, her eyes lit up brighter than Laura had ever seen them.
“Oh child, that is a catch,” she said.
“So, you think Daddy is planning something sneaky?” Laura asked.
“You should be so lucky,” Clara said with a wide grin.
Laura listened to how Harvey Whitehall was one of the most handsome men in Texas, and how women flocked to him not only due to his good looks, or his money, but also his charm.
She went to her room and dressed for dinner, carefully smoothing her hair into silky locks that dangled from her face. The thought of meeting such an eligible bachelor did intrigue her, but her heart kept tugging towards Billy.
She walked into the dining room where her father and Harvey were already seated. Clara smirked at her and winked as she took her seat across from the handsome boy.
Laura felt her heart flutter at the sight of him. He was beautiful, just as Clara had promised, and his smile was more than just charming.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” he said with grace.
Laura smiled and felt her father’s eyes heavy on her, his intent clear at this point. A merge was what he was interested in, but in no other way than with a marriage between her and Harvey.
The dinner was much more entertaining than those with Martin. Harvey was charming and extremely friendly. He spent a good deal of time avoiding the talk about business that Mac pushed at him and more time to talk about Laura, her interests and how he would love to have her show him around.
It was hard to refuse the man with so much charm. Laura agreed to show him the farm after dinner while Mac retired to the study with his cigar.
Laura knew that Billy was still in the stables looking after the new mother and colt, but Harvey insisted on looking inside, stating he was a huge fan of horses.
The door opened, and Billy stood at the stable where the mother horse was resting quietly. The colt was standing beside her, his little legs frail and weak, and Harvey let out a laugh at the sight.
“That is amazing how quickly they learn to get up and walk,” he said.
He gripped for Laura’s hand as she pulled away. Billy’s eyes were on her heavy, and even heavier on Harvey.
It felt so uncomfortable to be between them that Laura felt as though she would faint. She didn’t want to be rude to Harvey, he had been nothing but charming to her, but she hated for Billy to see her with him, knowing he was wondering if he were another Martin Adler, come to steal her hand.
Billy was kind to the man as he asked about the birth and any complications. Laura could tell it took everything he had to stay calm and not punch the man in the face as he spoke.
“Let me show you the cattle,” Laura said.
“Of course, yes,” Harvey agreed, extending his hand to hers.
Billy watched her closely as she let him take her hand and lead her from the stables. She wanted to pull from him and run into Billy’s arms. He looked so vulnerable, so hurt standing there where they left him.
Harvey was a perfect gentleman as she continued to show him around the ranch. He was very interested in the cattle and the irrigation system used in the gardens, but Laura could tell his interests were mostly directed towards her.
“So, what do you plan to do now that your studies are complete?” He asked.
“I was going to go back to school, but I don’t think I will now,” Laura said.
She knew part of her concern of leaving was leaving Billy behind, and the only reason she truly wanted to go to school was to annoy her father and get away from Martin. That wasn’t necessary now, so she really had no idea what she wanted to do.
“Why wouldn’t you go back now? What changed your mind?” He asked.
“I just prefer to stay around here,” she said.
His eyes gleamed as he stared at her. She could tell he found her mysterious and interesting, and she couldn’t help but find him appealing as well.
“What would you study in school, if you chose to go that is?” He asked.
“I would love to be a writer,” she said.
It was a dream she hadn’t shared with anyone, not even Billy. She thought it to be silly, telling stories that others would read.
“That’s a brilliant idea,” Harvey said.
Laura felt her heart swell inside her chest at his approval.
“You don’t need school for that, just an imagination or life experience,” he said.
“Well, I’ve never left the ranch, so life experience is lacking,” Laura said with a laugh.
“Then you must have an amazing imagination,” he said with a smile.
The feeling she got when he smiled at her was strangely familiar. It was similar to what she felt near Billy.
“I would love to know what was going in your mind Laura,” he said.
The sky roared with thunder and a bolt of lightning lit up the sky.
“We better get you back inside,” Harvey said.
He took her hand and ran towards the house with her attached to him. The rain started to pour, smearing her face with wetness and covering up the blushed cheeks she exposed to Harvey’s kindness.<

Laura excused herself to clean up and said her goodbyes to Harvey as he sat on the porch with her father.
Her heart was torn at the thought of loving someone like Harvey and losing the likes of Billy in the process.
She undressed for bed, stared out the window toward the light in the stable and felt her heart being pulled in two different directions.
She found it horribly ironic that she had been searching for love all this time, and now she had found it in more than one place, one that promised a life of privilege and happiness, and the other the pain of unacceptance and possible poverty.
Chapter Four
Mac was exceptionally nice over the next couple weeks. He seemed very pleased that Laura and Harvey hit it off so well and seemed to be ignoring the fact that she had told him of her love for the stable boy.
Billy was careful not to get caught looking at her, but when he found the chance, he would pull her aside and steal a kiss.
Her heart fluttered every time she saw him, and when he would find a way to kiss her, her entire body would tingle.
Harvey continued to come around, visiting during the day and enjoying dinners with her and her father at night, but Laura was still in love with Billy, making it hard to truly connect with the charming man that could promise her a bright future.
“Is your father pushing Harvey on you?” Billy asked.
Laura’s back was against the wall, her lips dangerously close to Billy’s as he spoke.
“Yes,” Laura admitted.
“Is this what you want?” Billy asked.
She could see the pain in his eyes as he asked his question. The fear of not getting the answer he wished for was apparent.
“No, I want you,” Laura reassured him.
He leaned in, kissed her softly on the lips. His hands gripped at her ass cheeks, squeezing them as he tugged them apart and let her cunt feel the force of his powerful grip.
