Crazy in Love 2

Their adoration for each other was too intense, too passionate for real life. Instead, they chose their sanity over their love.

After spending almost three hours exploring every inch of each other’s bodies, they hopped in the shower together. Feeling refreshed, Brandi refused Sean’s offer to spend the night with him. Instead, she put her clothes back on and prepared to leave. Sean wrapped his robe around his naked frame and walked Brandi to the door. They shared an intimate kiss, vowing to keep their rendezvous on the hush.

“Good-bye, Sean,” Brandi said, as she walked down the stairs.

Sean hadn’t expected for Brandi to say good-bye to him. “Why does that sound so final?” he asked her. But Brandi didn’t reply to him. Sean watched as she got into her vehicle and he closed the door.

Sean walked upstairs to his bedroom and walked into the closet that once belonged to his wife. He pulled out a metal box that contained his off-duty firearm. But that wasn’t the only weapon in that box. Along with his personal firearms was the throwaway weapon that he used the night he tried to kill Dollar. Sean’s jealousy had gotten so out of control that he resorted to attempted murder. And after he shot Dollar, he discreetly stood amid the group of spectators and watched as Brandi broke down in tears. It was then he knew that Brandi really loved Dollar, which hurt him to the core.

Sean groaned, as he thought about how close he had come to murdering Dollar that day and getting rid of him for good. But when he discovered that Dollar had pulled through, Sean came to his senses. He was going to spare Dollar’s life, at least for the time being.

Poor Kane. Sean smiled. He thought the Molotov cocktail he threw into the man’s house that night had done the trick. Sean had imagined the raging fire burning Kane to a crisp and, when that didn’t happen, him being pissed off was an understatement. If that sixteen-wheeler hadn’t taken Kane out, Sean was definitely going to finish him off.

Sean laughed when Kane acted as if he didn’t know Brandi when he met her at the Hive Lounge that night. What Brandi didn’t know was that Kane was a known habitual liar who would stop at nothing to make Sean look stupid. The fiercely loyal Rasheed had sworn Sean to secrecy and told him everything that Kane said.

“Yo, slime, I have to tell you something, man,” Rasheed said one day, while they were at his house drinking and watching ESPN. “That dude, Kane, is fucking with Brandi. I had to tell you about it ’cause you know that I don’t like that snake shit. You know if he would do it to you and you’re my man, he would do it to me. What you gonna do about that shit?”

Sean smiled. “I’m gonna kill that motherfucker,” he replied with no sign of remorse. “Guess I gotta bring my murder-for-hire skills back, huh?”

Rasheed took a sip of his liquor and smiled. “Dudes don’t know that you were one of the best who did it. They keep letting that fucking badge of yours fool them.”

At Kane’s wake, Sean looked down at the dead man lying in his all-white casket. No one noticed the sinister smile on his face.

Sean leaned over the casket, pretending to kiss Kane on his cold, clammy cheek. Instead, he whispered in his ear. “If you didn’t die in this accident, I was going to murder you myself,” he told the cadaver.

Sean took his robe off and climbed into his comfortable bed. As he was dozing off to sleep, he kept thinking about Brandi. He thought about her full lips, her sweet nectar, her beautiful face and how obsessed he really was with her. He didn’t want to envision her being with Dollar and not him.

Sean began tossing and turning in his bed and wasn’t able to fall asleep. The voices in his head were getting louder than they had been over the years. They kept asking him question after question and he felt compelled to answer them. But it was that one voice that kept nagging Sean to do things that he had never done before.

“What did you say, Yadira?” Sean replied, talking to an imaginary person in his dark room. Sean never told anyone but he could feel Yadira’s spirit following him throughout his house. He knew that people would not believe him; they would call him crazy. But Sean didn’t think that he was in need of psychiatric help. It’s just that when Yadira talked, he was the only person who listened to her, who could hear her. It was only right because she did the same for him.

Sean began laughing hysterically, as if someone had told him a very funny joke. “Okay, okay, you were right, Yadi,” he said with a sigh. “Being in love does make you wanna kill somebody.” Suddenly, Sean paused, as if he was contemplating what to say. “Look, Yadi, I wanna ask your opinion about something.” Sean paused again. “I wanna kill Brandi. What do you think?”
