“Ugh, what time is it?” I mumble and glance at the still-dark window in the room. I never get up before the sun rises. I’ve certainly stayed up that late before, but that was for entirely different reasons.

“It’s already four. We let you sleep in as late as we could. If you hurry, you can grab some breakfast before we hit the trail,” Levi says. It took a second to recognize his voice, but I’m sure it’s him.

“Okay, okay, I’ll be down in five minutes,” I begrudgingly answer. I would’ve preferred to wake up next to Levi, not as a guest in his house, but a lover in his arms. And I would’ve definitely preferred if I had Chase with his own strong arms draped around me from the other direction.

Now there’s a thought to spring me out of bed. I flick on the light in the small room and shuffle my clothes around, searching for something somewhat appropriate to wear. I let my skirts and swimsuits fall through my fingers as I finally settle on my outfit. It’s not ideal, but it will do.

Changing quickly, I pack a small bag of sunscreen, bug repellent, my notebook and camera and notice the small bottle of KY. How did that get there? My lips twitch up into a half smile as I let my imagination run wild and free. It doesn’t hurt anything to bring it, but it could hurt quite a bit to leave it behind. I toss it in my bag with my other belongings and make my way downstairs.

“Whew,” Chase whistles between his teeth as I pad down the stairs and I can’t decide if he’s coming onto me or teasing me for my bright pink hot shorts and skintight tank top.

“You’re gonna get too much sun dressed like that, not that I’m complaining.” He smiles. “Not to mention chaffing.”

“I didn’t exactly pack right for the trip,” I admit. “It was either this or a tiny dress.” I run my hands over my clothes and peek up at him from under my lashes.

“I see. Well, I don’t mind lending you a shirt, just for today, though.” His bright blue eyes size me up. Like I’m going to commit a petty shirt theft just for kicks.

  “I’d appreciate that,” I murmur.

“All right! Lacy! There’s a plate fixed up for you in the kitchen, so go eat.” Levi bursts into the hallway like a hurricane. Yesterday he was so chill, it’s weird to see him all buzzing with energy.

“Sure, I’ll do that.” I free Chase from my gaze and make my way to the smell of bacon and toast.

I have just enough time to scarf down some food and slurp back some of the strongest, blackest coffee I’ve ever drunk when Chase appears in the doorway with a red plaid shirt.

“This is the smallest one I own.” He holds it out sheepishly and I walk across the floor and pluck it from his hand.

“It’s huge.” I marvel and slide it over my arms.

“I hear that a lot.” He smirks and I laugh even though I’m blushing. I walked right into that one. Besides, I’m sure he does hear that a lot. I’ve only seen the outline pressed against his pants, but it was, in fact, huge.

“Here, let me help you get this all fixed up.” He tugs at the sleeves and quickly rolls them up so they aren’t dangling off my arms like a kid wearing her daddy’s shirt.

I button down the front and tie up the bottom so it’s snug around my waist. Otherwise it would be flapping around my thighs like a dress.

“Perfect,” Chase whispers as he finishes helping me with the sleeves. For a moment, his hand lingers on the fabric and he doesn’t move away. We both stand perfectly still, inches away from each other.

Is he going to kiss me? My heart thuds hard in my chest and I blink quickly. My body is urging me to step forward, to close the remaining gap between us, to stand up on my tiptoes and kiss him. But I don’t move.

“You two ready?” Levi marches up behind Chase and distracts us both from the moment we shared.

“Uh, I am.” I get my senses back.

“Good,” Levi continues and Chase puts some space between us, stepping back out into the hall, “because there’s something pretty special I want to show you before we go.” His green eyes twinkle and, to my surprise, he grasps my hand and leads me to the front door. I stop only long enough to put my shoes on and then let Levi escort me outside and off the front porch over to the barn at the side of the house.

He opens the door and leads me into the massive red structure and before my brain has a chance to register what is going on I see it.

  The foal.

The mama and baby are nuzzled up to each other tight, perfectly content and, well, just perfect. I’m not the kind of girl who tears up at a wedding or goes crazy over people’s babies, but something about this scene. Something about the purity and simplicity of this moment makes my throat choke up and little pinpricks of tears spring to the corners of my eyes.

“They’re so beautiful.” I try not to sniffle, not quite sure where this surge of emotions is even coming from.

“A beautiful family.” Levi nods at the horses. “A beautiful morning.” He looks out the open barn doors toward the big, pink sky. “And a beautiful girl.” He looks at me and I swallow hard. “What more could a guy ask for?”

For once, I have no idea what to say. And this is from someone who writes words for a living. I feel the same intense longing for Levi’s lips to cover mine in a sensual, slow kiss that I just yearned for with Chase.

I can think of one more thing he could ask for. Something they could both ask for and I’d gladly give it to them.

  Me.

  Chapter 5

So much for a beautiful day. As the sun climbs to the highest point in the sky and we continue to trudge down the hard dirt path on horseback, all I can think about is how much I hate this. When I said I wanted to cover a story with heat and sand, this is not what I had in mind. My horse decides that right now, at my peak moment of absolute misery for the day, is when she should just strut along and take a shit as she goes.

  Lovely.

Whoever romanticized this whole cattle drive adventure should get a medal in advertising. Clearly they could sell soda cans filled with turpentine and convince people it was just water from the fountain of youth, because this, riding out in the heat, with a stinky horse, with no entertainment, with no real scenery to speak of, this is NOT romantic.

It’s not that the boys haven’t been trying. They’ve both told me more stories than I could ever fit in my article. We had a beautiful picnic lunch in what I believe has been the only shady spot on this entire trip. It’s all been as good as a cattle drive can get, I guess. Once upon a time I would’ve enjoyed this more. Back when I used to spend my summers barefoot at my grandparents’ farm. Back then, I would’ve died if you let me ride a horse all day. Back then I would have never even noticed the heat. But, it turns out a lot has changed from those days. I guess you can take the girl out of the country and you can also take the country out of the girl.

  I blame Starbucks.

My mind is as meandering and windy as this trail. I can’t seem to focus on much for more than a minute before I’m dazing off into another fantasy. Let’s face it, if I didn’t have my little menage fantasy going, I’d have nothing.

I lick my dry lips and imagine yet another way the guys could take me. With Levi lying down and my lips wrapped around his thick cock while Chase holds my legs wheelbarrow style—he should be familiar with a wheelbarrow—and fucks me hard and fast from behind. I like the idea of being in their control. Of only having my hands free to balance myself while their dicks slide in and out of either end of my body like two fat pistons pumping in a racecar.

My pussy clenches as wetness blooms from my core. At least something is still wet out in this heat.

My horse whinnies and kicks up her front legs, lurching me from my daydream and leaving me scrambling for the reins.

“Shit!” It’s all I have a chance to say before the mare breaks out into a full-on run, barreling wildly down the path and leaving Chase and Levi in her dust. “Fuck!” I have no idea how to control this thing. The truth is, I’ve never really ridden a horse before. Sure, I told the guys
I did, but what I meant was I went on a pony ride at the State Fair when I was a child. “Whoa, horsey, slow down.” I cling to the reins desperately as my ass smacks off the saddle, jostling me around like a ragdoll. Oh shit, she’s not stopping. So this is how I die? Really?

“Help me!” I shriek and throw myself forward on the horse, doing everything I can to stay on.

“I got you,” I can hear Levi to my left, but I’m too scared to even glimpse in his direction.

It doesn’t seem like he’s got me. He might be alongside me, but it’s not doing shit to stop this crazy horse.

“Hee-yaw!” he yells to his own mare and guides her alongside mine until I’m sure the two animals are going to collide. “Hee-yaw!”

Before I know it, Levi is sliding his leg over his own saddle and bracing himself on his horse but facing the side of mine. Oh fuck, what is he doing? He’s going to get us both killed! I squeeze my eyes completely shut as he lunges from his horse to mine. His weight lands behind me on my saddle and his strong arms circle me as he grabs my reins.

“Whoa,” he yells and yanks the horse hard.

She begins to slow down, thank God, and I open my eyes again as I press as far forward as I can go and lift my ass a bit so Levi can sit on the saddle better.

He brings her back down to a gallop and then a trot and all the while I bounce in his lap. At first I think it’s my imagination. After all, I’ve been fantasizing about it all day, but it’s not. The rigid erection pressed tight against his jeans is real and very, very sexy.

Levi manages to bring the horse to a standstill. There’s no reason for us to stay on her back now, but I don’t want to move. Instead, I grind my ass back against him, hoping to feel every inch of his fat cock press against me.

“Wow, are you okay?” Chase rides up to us and brings his own horse to a halt.

“I am,” I admit, still wiggling shamelessly in Levi’s lap.

“I think we should call it a day here.” Chase lifts his big, brimmed hat and pushes back his dark hair. “That’s enough excitement for one day.” He shakes his head.

Behind me I can hear Levi breathing hard. It makes me slide over his erection even more.

“Oh, I don’t know,” I purr. “I think we could all stand to have a little more excitement on this trip.” I smile at Chase and grind back on Levi.

“Oh, really?” Chase finally takes note of my little dance in his partner’s lap. “And what did you have in mind?” He peruses my body.

“I figure you two big, strong men just saved my life. The way I see, I owe you both, big time.”

  Chapter 6

“You look like you need to cool down.” Chase chuckles, but I don’t see the sparkle in his eyes. Instead, his icy blues lock me down into Levi’s lap, transfixing me.

“No, that’s not what I meant at all.” I pout in protest. Am I crazy here? Surely I’m not the only one who has been feeling this tension build between all of us. Surely I’m not alone in my aching, throbbing need.

“Just over the hill there is a fresh spring and some trees. I think that’s the perfect place for us to set up camp for the night.” Chase points to the nearby hill. “And it’s definitely the place to get a dirty girl like you all cleaned up.” His voice drops and a long shiver licks my spine.

“Or to get a dirty girl like you even dirtier,” Levi murmurs in my ear and thrusts his hips against my ass, reminding me of the thick erection I was just rubbing up against a second ago.

“Let’s go.” I swallow hard and bounce along in Levi’s lap as the guys lead the way along the well-worn path up the hill.

Sure enough, as we reach the summit, the sun reflects off the flowing river on the other side and I take in the scenic grassy knoll under the shady, leafy trees. Now, I’m not a shy girl. I can’t think of a single moment in my life that you’d describe me that way, but as we reach the top of the hill and descend the other side, I can’t shake away my timidity. I’ve done a lot of things in this life, but submitting to two men at once has yet to be scratched off my bucket list and from the hungry look in Chase’s eyes and the pulsing erection Levi is pressing into my ass, I know for sure that won’t be on the list much longer.

“Whoa.” Levi brings my unpredictable horse to a stop and slides down the side of her saddle easily. His fingers circle my waist and he lifts me down to my feet gently.

“You two go jump in.” Chase tips his ten-gallon hat at us. “I’m just going to tie up the horses and set some stuff up. I’ll be right there.” His pink lips curl up into a sly smile and I know without a doubt he will join us. And I also know from the way my fingers tremble slightly and how my skin breaks out in gooseflesh that I’m dying of anticipation.

Levi threads his fingers through mine and tugs me toward the water before I can second-guess anything. I’m happy he’s taking the lead because, despite all my bravado and big talk, I have to admit I’m nervous about all of this.

“I think we should just strip down and jump right in. The water is a little cold, but on a day like this”—Levi raises his hand over his eyes like a visor and tilts his head back toward the burning sun—“a little cold is just what we need. Besides, if you get too chilly, I’ll warm you up.” He drops his hand and pulls me into him. My shoes scuffle against the dirt below as my body hits up against his. His tight muscles pressed into me, it’s like he’s carved from stone and, as I think back to my glimpse of him in nothing but a towel yesterday, I remember he looks like he’s been chiseled from stone as well.

Levi removes his hat and wraps his hand around my back, pulling me as close as we can possibly get with our clothes still on. My own raspy breathing reaches my ears. My heart thuds erratically in my breast. Every inch of my skin tingles with an excited buzz. I can practically feel the electricity in the air surrounding us. Levi hovers over me for a moment, teasing me, drawing this out, and he’s got me hook, line, and sinker. In this second in time, I’m his. He can do with me what he will and I will wait an eternity for him to kiss me. Just when I think he can’t possibly drag this on any longer, Levi’s lips crush mine in an intense and passionate kiss. I moan into his mouth as our tongues collide into each other, intertwining like a stripper slinking her body slowly down her pole.

His fingers quickly unbutton the plaid shirt Chase lent me this morning and I manage to pull his large belt buckle open all while our mouths are sealed together in a long, tantalizing kiss.

The plaid shirt that kept the sun from burning my shoulders all day is quickly tossed to the ground. I tug his shirt from his jeans and slide my slim fingers under the fabric. I need to feel his body, exploring it with my hands like a woman who long ago lost her sight and now navigates the world by touch alone.

Levi sucks my bottom lip into his mouth and gives it a sharp but small bite. It’s enough to make my eyelids flutter open in surprise. I thought he was the quiet one. Then again, they say it’s always the quiet ones who have the deepest secrets. Maybe Levi isn’t as sweet and passive as I assumed. I mean, he didn’t hesitate to save my life. That took courage I never would’ve guessed he possessed.

His thick fingers make quick work of sliding off my shorts and then my flimsy underwear. I try to tug his form-fitting jeans down over his tight ass but don’t nearly have the same effect he is able to. Where he’s got me stripped bare from the waist down, I’ve barely managed to pull his pants to the curve of his ass.

Finally, we break our kiss and I quickly shed my tank top too. Levi removes the rest of his clothes and I suck in my breath sharply over my teeth as I finally see, straight on, what he’s working with.

  Holy fuck.

“Ready to jump in?” He smirks and grabs my hand. It’s not exactly what I was thinking, but sure. I nod and we both run to the river’s edge, plummeting down toward the water hand in hand.

The jolt of cold awakens my senses and I gasp for a lungful of warm air when I pop my head out of the surface. I don’t have time to think about much of anything because above me I can hear
Chase.

“Geronimo!” he wails as he streaks across the sky over our heads and plunges into the frigid water with us.

How did he get naked so fast? I guess I wasn’t really paying attention.

Well, Levi and Chase both definitely have my attention now.

Chase walks toward me through the water with purpose, squeezing me back against the bank of the shore. I can’t see what he’s doing under the rushing water, but I feel the tip of his cock as he wiggles it over my clit. I moan and throw my heat back, drunk on the sensations that overwhelm me. Levi flanks me on my side and begins kissing a trail down my neck to my breasts. His mouth devours my rosy, hard nipple as Chase grabs a fistful of my hair, tugs it back, and keeps teasing my clit with his cock.

It feels so good I can’t help the animalistic sounds that escape my lips. “Oh fuck,” I cry out, letting my limbs go rubbery as the two strong men support me in the water and my first orgasm rushes through me like wildfire.

My knees go weak and my body slumps as the pleasure rushes over me as quick as the water in this river. If they both decided to let me go right now, if they just let me wash away to wherever this river flows and I was swept out to sea, I’d die happy right now.

“Let’s get out.” Levi scrambles up the embankment and pulls me up by my arms. Chase gives my ass a push and the next thing I know, I’m back on solid ground with both completely handsome, completely cut, completely naked men on either side of me.

Chase lifts me up easily and cradles me in his arms as he walks me over to a blanket he’s set up under the broad, green trees on the river’s edge.

He kisses my lips tenderly, without any rush to push them open and explore my mouth with his tongue, but instead taking his time, like he’s savoring me.

“Can you grab my bag?” I look up at Levi, realizing I’m committing to this experience by asking him. There’s no backing out now.

Not that I’d ever want to.
