As they got out of the car her parents were waiting for them. “Katherine Taylor, meet Calandra and Janus Demetriou.”
Katherine was surprised as Calandra and then Janus pulled her in for a hug.
Calandra smiled at her. “We are so glad to meet you Katherine, we can already see how happy you have made our daughter.”
Although they spoke English Katherine responded in Greek. “Thankyou for having me to stay.” Her award the looks of surprise on their faces. “Adrienne has taught me some Greek, please bear with me as I’m far from fluent.”
Adrienne put her arm around her shoulder, pulling her close. “She puts herself down, her grasp of Greek is pretty impressive given its only been a few months, she’s a good student.”
Katherine smiled at her, loving that Adrienne had felt comfortable enough to show affection in front of her parents. “Well I’ve got the best teacher.”
Calandra linked her arm in Katherine’s as they walked into the house. “You must be hungry, lunch is ready whenever, after you are settled in your room.”
Adrienne led her upstairs, and into her usual room, it was spacious with a king size bed, a walk-in wardrobe and its own bathroom with a large shower. Adrienne carried her bag and turning around saw Katherine standing back against the closed door.
“What?”
Katherine beckoned her with her finger. “Come over here.”
Adrienne didn’t need any further encouragement. Katherine soon found herself pushed back against the door, one of Adrienne’s hands in her hair as the other found its way under her t-shirt, caressing her breast.
Katherine groaned quietly, pulling Adrienne towards her, separating her legs to allow Adrienne’s thigh between them. “I know lunch is ready Adie, but god I’ve missed you.... I don’t know if I can wait for tonight.”
Adrienne’s lips nibbled at her ears. “If you are quiet, and quick then I’ll take care of you.”
“I promise, please yes.”
Adrienne turned her around, at the same time undoing her trousers and roughly pushing them and her panties to the floor. “Sit on the end of the bed.”
Katherine did as she was asked, kicking off her jeans and panties and spreading her legs wide. She knew that Adrienne loved doing this, almost as much as she loved receiving it.
Adrienne was already in the zone, her eyes glazed with lust as she looked at what lay in store for her. “God Katherine you are so beautiful.” Katherine knew that Adrienne would be able to see the moisture already tricking down her thigh, she didn’t think she had ever felt so aroused. They quickly showered, Adrienne went downstairs first, her parents were in the kitchen. Her dad came over and gave her a hug. “She’s beautiful Adie.”
“Well I certainly think so.”
“I can’t believe she can speak to us in our language.”
“Yes, it surprised me too mum, but that was one of the conditions she made of staying and completing the room, that I taught her. She’s been a committed student, in amongst everything else.”
Katherine arrived in the kitchen at that point, looking much fresher than she had earlier.
CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
The next few days were busy, she loved spending time with Adrienne’s nephew Callan and niece Fabienne, and really liked Hakim, he reminded her a lot of Adrienne in personality.
Katherine watched Adrienne with the children, it was like getting a glimpse of the mother she could be. Her heart warmed thinking of her holding their child. Lying in bed after making love quietly, having shed the covers due to the heat, she couldn’t help herself from voicing some of her thoughts. “You’re a natural with Fabienne and Callan Adie, do you want kids of your own?”
“God yes, I want to be a mother more than anything don’t you?” Adrienne suddenly looked pensive. What if she says no?
“Yes, yes I do.”
Adrienne was relieved, she knew she wanted to be with Katherine, but had Katherine not wanted children she wasn’t sure what she would have done, she was glad she wouldn’t have to choose. “You know when Meliza was pregnant she was beautiful, even more than she is generally. In English they talk of women blooming, like a flower I suppose, and she did. Yes, she had a bit of morning sickness for a few weeks but after that she seemed to sail through it. I want to carry a baby Katherine, more than anything.” Your baby, but if I said that now you’d be running for the hills.
Katherine could see that Adrienne had tears in her eyes. God I want that too, you with our child... our children. Unconsciously she had started to draw circles on Adrienne’s stomach with her finger. “Are you saying you are broody now?”
“No, not yet, but in a few years, I need to get the hotel going first. I want my children to have a good lifestyle.”
“Do you mean you want to have money?”
“No, well money would be nice, for them to have an inheritance, but I mean I want to be financially stable enough for the lifestyle I want. I want to be around for them day to day like my parents were for me. To be able to run the hotel from home, to be with them during the day. My parents were busier, given the size of the hotel and that they provided meals, if I just offer breakfast then the first half of the day would be busier.”
“Yes, I know what you mean. My mother was there for me too, she was able to attend all the school appointments, my sports day, school play performances.... I suppose I want that for my children as well, I hadn’t really given it enough thought yet to be honest.”
The air was charged with what they weren’t saying to each other. Katherine already knew exactly how she felt, but she wanted the time to be just right. Adrienne knew she wanted Katherine, to spend her life with her. Katherine had said that she wanted to stay, but they hadn’t yet spoken about what this would mean for their relationship other than that they were going to be in one, but long term, they didn’t even live in the same country? Katherine had just ended her engagement, she had spoken not long after they met about about needing time to find herself, would she want to make any commitment beyond the beginning of a relationship? They fell asleep in each others’ arms, leaving the rest unspoken.
Katherine rose early the following day. Adrienne was sleeping peacefully and she didn’t want to disturb her, and she needed some time without her girlfriend around. Their discussion the previous night had reinforced the thoughts that she had been having since they formalised their relationship. She just hoped that she wasn’t reading things wrongly. They were going home today so she didn’t have much time.
Going downstairs she found Adrienne’s parents in the kitchen, reading newspapers. When she walked into the kitchen they invited her to sit with them and poured her a coffee. They were surprised to see her alone, so far Adrienne had been with her when they came down in the morning.
Janus smiled at her, putting down his paper. “Is Adrienne okay?”
Katherine smiled. “Yes fine, I thought I’d let her lie in, she was in a deep sleep.” Katherine took a deep breath, it’s now or never, I may not get this chance again. “Actually, I was hoping to talk t
o you both privately before we left.”
“Is there something wrong?” Calendra and Janus really liked Katherine, they had watched her with their daughter and Adrienne’s love for her was vividly obvious. They had discussed Katherine and how good she was for Adrienne, not having to hide her desires had clearly lifted a great weight off her shoulders. She had already changed from being someone that was intensely private to the carefree daughter they remembered. They thanked Katherine for that and they both hoped they weren’t about to find out that the relationship wasn’t to last.
“No... well at least I don’t think so. If you haven’t realised already I love your daughter, in fact I have never felt this way before. If it’s not too cheesy I think I fell for her from the first moment that I saw her.” Katherine took another deep breath. “So, .... I’m not sure of the custom in Greece, but in Britain there’s an old-fashioned tradition of seeking the father’s permission prior to a proposal. I’d like to marry Adrienne, I promise I’ll care for her, love her until I’m no longer in this world. Janus, Calendra, will you give me your blessing to ask your daughter to marry me?”
Katherine felt like minutes passed. She watched as Calendra looked at Janus and then stood up and walked around the table towards her, taking both her hands in hers.
“You know I don’t claim to understand my daughter’s feelings, neither does my husband, but we love her, and trust her to make her own decisions. I know that she loves you Katherine, I’ve watched her with you over the last few days and its obvious to me, I’ve never seen her like this. You are a beautiful, talented woman and I can see that you are devoted to my daughter, on that basis there’s just one thing I...we can say, yes you have our blessing. Welcome to the family.”
Katherine had tears rolling down her cheeks when Calendra hugged her and Janus walked towards them hugging them both. “Well hopefully, she still has to say yes.”
Calandra smiled. “I don’t think you have anything to worry about Katherine.”
They only just managed to separate and pull themselves together before Adie appeared in the kitchen. Katherine got up and kissed Adie on the cheek before making them breakfast. Their flight was at 2 p.m. so they needed to be at the airport at noon and after eating they went upstairs to pack.
Adrienne pulled Katherine to her. “Is everything okay, you didn’t wake me this morning?”
“You looked so peaceful baby, I know that the last few days have been stressful for you, and I’ve kept you awake since I got here and you are back at work in a couple of days, I just wanted to let you sleep.”
“Were you okay... alone with my parents I mean?”
“Yes, they don’t bite and as you can see no bruises.” Katherine laughed. “We had a good chat, I like them, I can see you in both of them.”
“Yes, they are good people, I still can’t believe that they are as accepting of us. I suppose I’d only heard horror stories before, families torn apart when their kids came out, I guess I underestimated them.”
“Come on we need to finish packing, so I can get you home.”
Adrienne nuzzled her face into Katherine’s neck. “Home, I like the sound of that.... I’ve missed my macaroni.”
“Yes, that’s all you want me for isn’t it? I just wish it was my body.”
Adrienne looked into her eyes, her own glazed over with desire. “Oh believe me I want that too.”
“Packing Adrienne..... although I do believe I have some macaroni in the freezer so if you play your cards right maybe later I can meet both your desires.”
Calandra and Janus drove them to the airport, they had said their goodbyes to Meliza and her family the previous night, promising to try and meet up again soon. Adrianne hugged her parents. “I’ve had a great time, thanks.”
Janus smiled. “Well we won’t leave it too long to see you again, we are keen to see the finished room too. Pictures are one thing, but it would be good to see it.... oh and check how my sister is running our hotel, you know how we like to keep her on her toes.”
Adrienne laughed, the twinkle on her father’s eyes showing he was joking. She watched as her parents hugged Katherine, working hard to keep her emotions in check. This couldn’t have gone better.
Calendra whispered in Katherine’s ear as she hugged her. “Let us know what happens please.”
“Of course I will, I need to pick my moment though. I want it to be special.”
They waved as they walked through to their departure gate. “They’re great Adrienne... really great.” I’ll be happy to be part of their family, let’s just hope you want me to be.
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
Later that night, home and after a dinner of macaroni they were cuddling on the couch, tired after their long day. “Mm it’s good to be home, to be able to totally relax, and to openly hold you like this.” While her parents had been much more understanding than she had expected, and welcomed Katherine, she had yet to be comfortable with open displays of affection beyond the occasional hug.
“Yes, I know what you mean. I don’t know about you but I’m beat. Let’s get an early night, tomorrow is your last day off for a while and I want you to relax and enjoy it.”
Adrienne awoke the following day to Katherine bringing her breakfast in bed. After showering they changed into bikinis and moved to the beach. Katherine had set up a parasol so they could stay out for longer, protected from the sun, and they lay and relaxed, and read. Whilst it was hot there was a pleasant breeze. She insisted that Adrienne stay and relax when she went to prepare lunch of quiche, fruit, bread and cheese.
Adrienne had tried to get up. “Hey, let me help please.”
“Oh no, I said I want you to relax, anyway I have an ulterior motive, I want you to keep your strength up for later.”
“Mmm, okay if you say so.” Adrienne looked into Katherine’s eyes her voice husky. “How much later?”
Katherine could see how Adrienne’s eyes had clouded over with desire. She lay beside her, raising herself on her side before kissing her gently. Katherine pulled back, she looked at Adrienne before her, she was so beautiful, suddenly she couldn’t imagine a more perfect moment than this. Adrienne lying before her, wanting her, on the beach in what had become their home. The heat of the sun warming them and the only sound the gently lapping of the waves, what could be more idyllic? “Well that depends.”
Adrienne smiled. “On what?”
“On whether I’d be making love to my girlfriend, or my fiancée?
Adrienne sat up, had she heard that right? “What did you just say?” She watched transfixed as Katherine raised herself up onto her knees.
“Adrienne Demetriou, I love you, you are a beautiful talented woman, and I am completely head over heels in love with you. There’s nowhere and no one I want to be with more, now or to the end of my days. Please Adrienne say that you will marry me?”
Adrienne looked amazed. “Oh my god, yes... of course yes. Katherine are you serious?”
“I couldn’t be more serious, you are everything I want and more. I want to be with you, to build our life together, to make this a hotel. I want you to have my...our children, I’ve never wanted anything more, and I don’t want to wait.”
Adrienne pulled her towards her. “Oh god yes yes yes......a hundred yesses... a million yesses...”
“Good.” Katherine stopped her talking by kissing her lips before gently pushing her back down onto the travelling rug. Kissing her lips she entered her mouth with her tongue, at the same time reaching round to undo Adrienne’s bikini. Adrienne groaned as Katherine moved from her mouth, and made her way down over her collarbone, her mouth on Adrienne’s already hard nipple, her other hand stoking the remaining breast. She loved the feel of the heavy breast in her hands.

Adrienne was amazed, this was not a spur of the moment thing, Katherine had planned it. Adrienne suddenly had a thought. “God what will my parents say? One minute I introduce them to my girlfriend, and next I need to tell them we are engaged.
Katherine smiled. “They will be fine Adrienne, I already have their blessing.”
“What?” Adrienne was certain she must have misheard this time.
“I asked their permission, it’s an old British tradition.”
“And?”
“And they welcomed me to the family.”
“Has anyone ever told you how amazing you are Katherine. In fact forget that, I’m going to show you.”
