“Shimshon told us that history would solve the mystery,” Emma mused.

“They weren’t even on our list,” Emma observed.
“That’s why they came so close to pulling it off,” Abe asserted. “The smaller, more tight-knit, and obscure the group, the harder to find.”
“Who knows what other self-appointed crazies are out there right now plotting our destruction! We live in apocalyptic times,” Rendi said, shaking her head.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
I want to express great appreciation to Melanie Downing for her perceptive editing and substantive contributions to this book, and to Les Pockell, who helped to shape my thinking about its structure and content. My agent, Helen Rees; my assistant, Sarah Neely; and my family and friends all encouraged me. A special note of appreciation to my son, Elon, whose insights improve everything I write. My wife, Carolyn Cohen, painstakingly read through drafts and gently pushed me to make constructive changes. Even more important, she encouraged me with her love.
