It was only as he was descending the stairs, his head in the clouds and an enormous grin upon his face that he realised that he would have to pick her up in his fifteen year old, cranky, abusive electroZev.

“Yes, we spotted that,” said the blocks, rather dryly, “but there is not much we can do about it now. You really should have agreed to meet her there, that way you could have gone home with her. We picked that restaurant both because of its rather subtle sense of class and style, and because it happens to be less than fifty meters from her apartment.”

"Should I call her up and ask her to meet me at the restaurant?"

"No, that would look extremely bad, and you really need to keep up the appearance of knowing what you are doing. If you seem weak and indecisive she will not be prepared to take you home with her." The blocks seemed to think that she would be rather easy to bed. He rather doubted it.

"You need to understand how people work. She is just as attracted to you as you are to her, so as long as you can lead decisively she will submit to your direction. It will therefore be inevitable, that when you lead her home she will allow you to escort her inside. It is only if you question the role that you play, or give her reason to doubt your authority will you lose that control."

“So, then I guess that I will have to pick her up in my car.”

“No, that really would not do. No, we will have to find an alternative mode of transportation. Trust us.”
