“No. No, don’t be sorry. I would have waited a thousand lifetimes for this moment. I knew it would be worth it, and it is.”
They embraced once more. It was the most beautiful sensation either of them had ever felt. It wasn’t just their bodies embracing. It was their souls. Two halves of the same whole, finally reunited. It was bliss beyond bliss, joy beyond joy. It felt more right than anything else ever could. Their hearts sang out together as a duet, the sound of their spirits singing as one.
Storgen looked at her and smiled. He could not recall ever feeling so completely happy.
Athenna looked back at him and beamed radiantly.
“Would you like to come in?” Storgen offered.
She laughed joyfully. “Yes. Yes, I would like that very much.”
He took her hand and she stepped inside.
For the first time in their lives, they knew that they were finally whole.
