I am also lucky to have recruited some excellent beta readers – you are so important to the publishing process – thank you all for your time, input and encouragement. To Walter Henry’s Bookshop, Bideford, local libraries and other North Devon venues that supported me from the very beginning, you made me feel like a proper author.

I cannot complete this list without mention of a wonderful group of people who have embraced me as a one of their own and championed my writing – the community of Westward Ho! and surrounding area, among whom, a special thanks must go to Cath and Clive Shuttleworth, Sandra Ramsay and Lynsey Wheatley, Rifaat Mirza and Jane Hampson, and finally, Rob Braddick and Michael Cannon who kindly allowed me access to the magnificent Seafield House. You have all shown me great generosity and kindness, and I am lucky to know you.

Not forgetting you, the readers – you and you alone keep my dreams alive!

  A message from the author

Five percent from the proceeds of DEAD BY DESIGN will be donated to Meningitis Research Foundation. This is an extremely worthy charitable organisation and one that is particularly dear to my heart.

In 2014, whilst writing my debut novel STORM LOG-0505, I contracted Viral Meningitis. The short-term effects on me were devastating; the physical and mental disability was shocking and extremely scary for my entire family and me. Now, three years on, I am still medicated, but thankfully as time progresses, so does the recovery. Unfortunately, not everyone who contracts Meningitis is as lucky as I have been.

It gives me great pride to be able to contribute to this important organisation from the proceeds of this book. Thank you for your purchase.

Visit www.meningitis.org for more information about Meningitis Research Foundation.
