“About six or seven months ago I started receiving odd messages on social media, as well as texts and emails. First, they were basically calling me a whore, then it progressed from there telling me I should be ashamed of myself for spreading my legs for two men. Now, it’s to the point where they’re claiming if I’m too much of a coward to off myself, they’d be happy to do it themselves.”
“What?” Levi asks, jumping up from his seat and begins pacing the room.
“You’re tellin’ me that someone has threatened your life, and you thought instead of coming to us, you’d deal with it yourself?” Carson questions, but I know it’s more of a statement to himself.
“Yes,” I whisper out.
“That’s bullshit, Rai!” Levi shouts.
Tic clears his throat before saying, “I want to see these emails and messages.”
“I deleted most of the emails except for the couple I’ve received today. As well as the texts and the private messages.”
“Bomber!” Tic yells, not taking his death glare away from me.
“Yeah, boss.”
“Take my sister-in-law to be’s phone and recover those messages. I want you to trace them and find out who is behind it.” I glare at Tic, then Bomber before finally relenting and handing over my phone. I need it, how do you live in this age without one?
“I’ll get this back to you as soon as I can. I need all of your passwords and log-in information. Write them down, the quicker you get me the information the quicker I can get you your phone back,” Bomber says, and I can tell he’s not moving until I do so. Kori goes to the kitchen, opens a drawer and comes back with paper and a pen. She gives me a nod of encouragement and I begin writing down my information. I hand it over to him and he quickly departs.
Chapter 3
Levi
Sometimes you have to roll with the punches life gives you…
I can’t believe this shit, I’m fuming mad right now. How could she keep something of this importance from us? I thought she trusted us wholeheartedly, now I’m thinking that isn’t so. I need to be away from her right now, I can’t be in the same room as she is and not say something I’ll regret and won’t be able to take back.
“I need to ride, I’ll catch you at home,” I say to Carson as I walk out the door.
“Levi wait!” I hear her call out to me, but I don’t stop—I can’t. I need to wrap my head around not only the information she shared, but some time with the open road and myself is the best thing I can think of to cool down right now. I see her run out the door as I start my bike, I rev the motor a few times to drown out the noises coming out of her mouth. I shake my head at her and back out of the driveway, her mouth wide open and tears leaking from her eyes nearly making me turn off my bike and stay, but I’m still worried about what I’ll say, so I do the opposite and ride away.
I end up at the clubhouse and am sitting at the bar when one of the new Babes comes up to me and trails her finger down my neck. I push it away, I’m here to get my head on straight not fuck around with any of these bitches. We got rid of all the old Babes and there’s new ones who’ve taken their places, only they’re more in your face than the old ones were. “I can make you forget about all of your troubles, Levi,” she purrs. Only it isn’t sexy like when my woman does it and she’s pissing me off with touching me and talking to me.
“Get your motherfuckin’ hands away from me and move the fuck on. I have a woman,” I tell her, pushing her away from me.
“You don’t have an Ol’ lady and the rules state that until that time comes you’re free to do whatever you want.” Is this bitch kidding me with this shit!
“I’m in a very committed relationship and won’t be sinkin’ myself into your used-up pussy. I’d never betray her that way, move the fuck on!” I holler out at her, then notice the other women watching us. “Let’s get this straight right the fuck now! Carson and I are off the market! We love our girl and get this through your fuckin’ brains now, we are making her our Ol’ lady. So leave us the fuck alone and don’t ever put your fuckin’ hands on either of us again, or you’ll be out that door so fuckin’ fast you won’t be able to blink before you’re on your ass in the street!”
“We keep all the single men happy, Wasp would never put us out.”
“Is that so?” I look over and see Ghost leaning against the wall. I hadn’t noticed him before, but I’m happy he’s here to see and hear this bullshit. “What you don’t know is that Wasp and I have been catching hell from our women about you ladies’ roamin’ eyes and hands. They’re convinced that you all would be perfectly happy breaking up our happy homes, and from what I just saw, I happen to think maybe they’re right. Looks like I need to take this to Wasp and Tic,” he says, pulling his phone out and placing it to his ear. He quietly speaks to one of them on the other line and I turn my attention back to my beer in my hand. He ends the call and comes over and sits next to me. “How long has that kind of shit been goin’ on?” he asks me.
“Brother, we’re having to remind them on a daily basis that we’re taken.”
“Should’ve come to us sooner, Wasp is calling Tic and they’re goin’ to arrange for the ladies to get a refresher on the way things work around here. We can’t have Babes fuckin’ with Ol’ ladies.”
“She isn’t an Ol’ lady yet, she wanted to wait until things had settled down with her sisters before we moved forward. We ordered her cut just last week, it should be in any day now.”
“Good, we need to set that ceremony up and get it done. She’ll be untouchable, even more than she already is once that happens.”
“If only these whores would get the picture that it means the men are as well,” I reply to him.
“Ashton and Kori will rally the girls, they’ll make sure of it, or they’ll be gone.”
“I’d love to be a fly on the wall during that confrontation,” I say with a laugh.
“You and me both, brother,” he says, and we clink our beer bottles together. “What’s got you here instead of home? You could drown your sorrows there with your woman instead of here.”
“Kinda needed some time away from her,” I answer.
“She threw you for a loop today, huh?”
“Unlike you could believe,” I reply.
“Word of advice?” he says, and I nod my head, “don’t hide from the issue, go home and talk it out. Fuck it out, just don’t leave it how it is. It will cause a divide in y’alls relationship.”
“Good advice, brother. Think I’ll go ahead and head home.”
“To family,” he says raising his beer.
“To family,” I reply, raising mine. I chug the rest of the bottle and get up patting him on the back. “You’re a damn good brother,” I say walking out the door.
“We’ll catch whoever it is fuckin’ with your girl,” he hollers out and I give him a wave over my shoulder. I just want to go home and hash this shit out and move forward from here.
Carson
“Do you think he’s okay?” she asks me as we cuddle together. Levi’s always taken things harder than I have. Whereas I’m upset and wounded, he’s pissed and needs time to sort his head out.
“He’ll be fine, I promise. He’ll walk through that door before you know it.” We’re cuddled on the couch, neither one of us ready for bed.
“I really thought I could take care of this myself and not pull you guys into it. My family has already brought so much drama to you two and the club, that I wanted to keep you happy, and not stressed out. I’m just as protective of you two as you are of me,” she says, snuggling into me deeper.
“For us, it isn’t about that, Rainey. What makes you happy makes us happy, what fucks with that, what keeps those smiles from your face, that affects us too. We knew something was goin’ on, we begged you on several occasions to let us in. It’s the fact that you didn’t open up and trust us enough to help out that’s got Levi messed up right now.”
“What about you?”
“I’m
more hurt than angry. We don’t hold anything back from you, and we’d like it if you didn’t hold back from us.”
“There’s nothing you keep to yourself, to protect me, or keep me safe?”
“Nothin’ outside of club business, Rainey.”
“That’s not necessarily true,” Levi says, walking through the door.
“What?” I ask, drawing my eyebrows up in confusion.
“The Babes,” he says, and I roll my eyes. I don’t see how that is considered keeping anything from her, because nothing’s happened.
“Nothing’s happened with the Babes, they flirt, we push them away, end of story,” I reply to him.
“Tell me more,” she says, getting up off my lap taking her warmth with her.
“Hey! Get back over here,” I tell her, wanting her in my arms again. She complies, but keeps her head up, where she can see the both of us.
“I went to the clubhouse tonight for a drink and to clear my head,” Levi says, coming over and sitting on the coffee table in front of us. “One of the new Babes hit on me. Told me I had a right to be with one of them considerin’ Rainey isn’t our Ol’ lady yet.” I roll my eyes, because where that’s technically true, we’re one-hundred-percent committed to our woman and would never betray her heart or trust in that manner. “Ghost happened to come in while I was rippin’ the women a new one. He called Wasp and the women are goin’ to have a meetin’ and remind them of the rules. But, I got to thinkin’ and feel that we should go ahead and proceed with the Ol’ lady ceremony.” Now he has my full attention.
“I agree, not only would it give her full protection, but the women there wouldn’t have an excuse to touch us.”
“Fuck that!” Rainey says, marching into the kitchen and slamming doors. She comes back with a wine bottle and glass. “I’m becoming your Ol’ lady because I love y’all and you two love me. Not because some skanky-ass bitches think they can put their hands on you otherwise!”
“That’s pure fact, baby,” Levi says, going over to her and pulling her into his arms. As I get up to join them, my phone rings and I notice it’s Wasp calling.
“Yo,” I answer in my standard greeting.
“Meetin’ tomorrow morning, eight a.m. don’t be fuckin’ late!” he says, disconnecting the call. The fuck was that about? I relay the message to Levi who nods. We sit and talk out what’s been going on and hash it out until nearly three a.m. when none of us can keep our eyes open any longer. Things aren’t necessarily okay, but they’re better.
Rainey
The guys drag me to the clubhouse this morning, I’m not happy because I was looking forward to sleeping in and absorbing everything that’s happened the night before. I want to spend time with the guys, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not looking forward to spending my last day off this week, sitting in their clubhouse with those ‘classy’ club whores while they’re in a meeting.
I walk into the building, still not having enough coffee, so I know I resemble a walking, talking, zombie. The guys should just count their blessings that I’m actually walking and not making them carry me. When I say talking, it’s more like grunting when I’m answering questions.
“C’mon, baby, let me have your mug and fill it up for you before we leave you,” Carson says.
“You can always go up to our room and catch a nap if you’d like,” Levi states.
“Yes, please,” I quickly agree, causing both of them to chuckle. “I’ll take her, you get her coffee made so it’s waitin’ on her when she wakes up.” Levi grabs my hand in his and takes me up the stairs to where his and Carson’s room is. It isn’t large, but it has two queen beds, a nightstand between them and one tallboy dresser nestled in the corner with a television on top of it. I plop down on the first bed I come to, which happens to be Levi’s and sigh in relief. “Like you in my bed, baby girl,” he says, as he begins to remove my shoes from my feet.
“I’m in your bed every night, Levi,” I remind him.
He chuckles before saying, “This is true, but it’s still nice to have you in my personal bed here at the club.” I roll my eyes, because does it really matter? I just hit the first one my eyes landed on. Making a mental note that if this ever happens again in the future, I’ll hit Carson’s bed so I’m not picking one over the other. Carson walks in, places my mug on the table and kisses me.
“We gotta go, Rainey, or we’ll be late,” he says as he takes my hand and squeezes it. This is what they do when they’re leaving, sitting next to me or we’re having a serious conversation. I squeeze back like always and smile at him the best I can.
“I’ll be fine, you two, move it along so I can get more sleep,” I say, rolling over and closing my eyes. Levi kisses me on the head and they leave the room, I hear them lock it behind them. That’s the last thing I notice before it’s lights out and I’m sound asleep.
Carson
As Levi and I walk down the hallway I tell him, “Those women are up to something.”
“What women?” he asks me.
“The club Babes, when I was walking up they had their heads in a huddle in the main room. When they noticed me, they all stopped, looked up at me and smiled the cheesiest smiles. Only they seemed more malicious than welcoming,” I tell him.
“Wonder why they’re up so early, they never rise before lunch.”
“I was thinkin’ the same thing. I have a bad feelin’ about these new girls, Levi.”
“If they’re up to somethin’ we’ll figure it out.” I hope he’s right, club whores are vicious when they have their sights set on claiming a patched member. We walk into the meeting room and everyone is already sitting in their chairs waiting on us to arrive.
“Bout time,” Wasp says, and I smile at him.
“We had to get our girl settled,” Levi tells him. I nod emphatically to the point to where I feel like a bobble head on steroids.
“Is she good?” Tic asks us.
“Yeah, she’s hangin’ in there. Not sure about good, but she’s a survivor and she’s strong. This won’t take her down,” I reply.
“We won’t let it, we’ll get this figured out,” Wasp states.
“We appreciate it,” I tell them.
“Let’s get down to business, we called this meetin’ this mornin’ ‘cause Bomber came up with some information, and also another text message came through last night.” I slam my hand on the table, why is someone so hell bent on fucking with her? I just don’t get it. Why would anyone care about why she’s with two men? That’s her business and ours, no one else’s, it’s a puzzle I can’t put together, but I will…we will.
“Calm down, brother,” Levi whispers to me, and it surprises me, because usually I’m the calm one where he’s the hot head. The roles have been reversed and it’s a hard pill to swallow.
“Why are you so calm?” I asks him.
“I only appear to be on the outside,” he replies.
“Bomber, the floor is yours,” Wasps tells him.
He gets out a folder with several sheets of papers stapled together and passes them around to us all. I grab my set and the first six pages are old messages he was able to pull from her records. My eyes glaze over with a sheen of red as anger takes over me. They start off as bullying and harassment and grow to accusations, threats and I feel like I’ve stepped back in high school and it’s witnessing the mean girls club all over again. I begin reading, and my stomach turns, how I’m holding the contents in my stomach are surprising to me.
Only a slut would spread her legs for two men, your father’s probably rolling over his grave when he sees what you’ve become.
Is one man not enough for you, are you really that easy to tame?
You should slit your wrists and do the world a favor. You’re nothing but a whore who makes herself available to whomever wants a piece of you.
You’re pathetic and the talk of the town. We’re all ashamed to call you a hometown sweetheart. Please put your family out of their misery and hang yourself with the closest
rope you can find. This town is appalled at your behavior!
You’re so pathetic, we laugh at you behind your back and can’t wait for the day that you pay penance for your disgusting behavior.
Seriously? You’re still around! If you’re too scared to end your miserable excuse of a life, we’d be happy to do it for you.
I lay awake at night and plot your demise.
The world will be a better place once I remove you from it. Two men! Really? You’re disgusting and a disgrace to the human race. I’m watching and waiting for the perfect opportunity to end you.
Pages upon pages of these same types of messages. “The fuck,” I say, as I come to the last page and see the last thing sent to her. Last night!
If you accept the Ol’ lady cut, we’ll slit your throat and enjoy helping your men get over you…the choice is yours. Do not take this threat lightly, we mean business.
‘We’ the word sticks out like a sore thumb.
Chapter 4
Levi
What else can we do but hold on and be true…
As we’re going over the papers, and Bomber is explaining about how he’s tracking IP addresses, and what he’s come up with so far, we hear a scream. A life altering, death defying, curdling, hold your ears, someone is dying, type of scream, that has us all out of our chairs and running up the stairs in a matter of seconds. I would know that voice anywhere, A voice I hear every morning when my eyes open, at night in my dreams, and during the day on the phone. I’m pushing my brothers out of the way, so I can get to her and find out what has her screaming like a banshee, when I make it to the top of the stairs, I’m dumbfounded at what I see. Someone has taken a child’s doll, wrapped a noose around its neck, with fake blood dripping from its mouth and nose as if it’s bleeding out, and it’s hanging from my motherfucking door frame!
