She sighed studying them both and the love they shared. She watched the essence as it flowed freely between them. They were bonded. Who was she to really question it? She only worried that Star would someday run into the issues that Reyana was facing now, but then Byryn was of all three essences. Maybe she wouldn’t need two different men to complete her. “Very well, Byryn a Grifyn, I give you permission,” Reyana hesitated. She just couldn’t solidify this totally as tradition called for. She couldn’t set aside her own feelings and turmoil to make the decision, so she did the next best thing. “…to court my daughter, the Princess Staryana and the rights to her awakening. If upon her awakening you still own her heart, then consider the Bonding Decree accepted, but it will be her call and only her call. I have given my approval, but the decision is in the Princess Staryana a Reyana’s hands. No other may court her while you are involved.” She granted.
Mythos nodded. “It is a wise decision that adheres to traditions and still grants her the right of choice. With her youth I believe that is the right recourse, Reyana. I, King Mythos a Mythion second the decree of courting.”
They embraced kissing deeply before Byryn addressed her. “It’s more than fair, my Queen. I want her free to make her own decisions with her heart anyway.”
“As I said.” Grifyn smiled refilling his glass. “It is an eve of celebrations. Someone should give a toast.”
“Here, here,” Marcus smiled raising his glass obviously assuming that duty. “A toast, to the newly betrothed, the newly mated, and the newly claimed. To the newly crowned. To loves we’ve lost and found again and the joy that they have brought back to our lives. To the miracles of Redemption and the promise that it brings. And especially, to the future which once again holds promise and Light for us all.”
“To the future.” They all raised their glasses.
Reyana looked around the table at the smiling faces and laughter of her family. It had only been eight days. Eight days, such a short amount of time when considered in the scheme of things. It had taken hundreds of years to bring them together, many of them painful. Things didn’t always make sense, and it was difficult to understand the reasons but everything they had endured had brought them here to this moment. In a way, that made it all worth it.
“What are you thinking about, Reya?” Marcus kissed her hand.
“I was just thinking, that this, right here…”
“Is perfect.” He finished for her. She let him pull her in his lap. “I love you.” He brushed the hair out of her face. “And whatever comes next, whatever the future brings. We will face it together, my love.”
He stroked his hand lightly down her cheek. She knew the future wouldn’t be easy. She knew there was so much they had yet to accomplish. It didn’t matter, though. All that mattered was that they were together. The rest would always sort itself out.

Shades of Redemption

He stood there across from her in the Dark, watching her. She was a vision, that silver fashion she now wore flowing about her form. He came to her every night now to escape the torment he endured. She was his anchor that kept him hanging on. She was the Light in an endless Darkness. She alone kept him going.
She was looking for him. She knew he was there but he could not let her know the state he was in. She could sense him so easily. He knew he should leave but he just needed another moment. Just…a few more moments of being so near to her. He desperately needed the strength she gave him. He had been wavering and he could not fail.
“Cymeryn? I know you’re here, I can feel you.” Reyn stood with her arms wrapped around herself. Her dark red hair danced on the breeze now adorned with silver highlights where the black streaks had once Darkened her. “Why won’t you talk to me, Cymeryn? I can feel your pain. I know what they’re doing to you.”
He cursed. “I do not want you to see me this way, Reyn. I should not have come.”
“Cymeryn, you’ve seen me at my worst. Now get your ass out here before you seriously piss me off.” She demanded.
He had to smile as he limped out of the shadows of her subconscious. “I had forgotten how demanding you can be, my love.”
She rushed to his side her face laced with horror and concern. “Are you alright?”
“I will live, Reyn, but I should not be here. If I am here when they begin anew I will not be able to block the pain from you.” He explained, searching her face for understanding.
“We’ll cross that bridge when it comes.” She stated firmly as she attempted to ease his pain through their link. “You need to tell me where you are. This has gone on for too long.”
He sat on the floor and pulled her to him. “Just stay with me a little while. Please, I just need to know you are alive and safe. Then I can endure.”
She cradled him to her chest. “If that’s what you need then you need to promise me you’ll let me be there for you, Cymeryn. You say you’re doing this for me, but it’s killing you. If you won’t let me help you, you need to let me be there for you.”
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she brushed the hair from his face. He could only imagine how he appeared to her. He could not focus enough to change the image of his form. He had so little strength left.
“You cannot reach me, Reyn and who would you send, mine blooded twin?” He laughed, “Marcus would not risk your safety for mine. If he did, I would kill him.”
“Why, Cymeryn, why are you protecting me?”
“You know why.”

About the Author
I’ve written short stories and novels for years for my own enjoyment. For me, it’s like this whole other world unfolds in my mind and I get to watch it come to life as my words race across the page. As I write the characters’ stories, I watch their tales unfold. It’s an adventure every time I sit behind my keyboard and let my fingers dance across the keys.
This series started out of boredom and a desperate need to find something to occupy my time and mind while I was fighting to diagnose and eventually recover from Hyperparathyroidism. I’m not going to get into a long drawn out story about what that is because I could write a book on that alone. I’ll include some links at the end of this section for information as well as my Facebook and series page for anyone who has questions. I have no issues explaining it.
I had the symptomatic primary type, which basically means you have a lot of debilitating nondescript symptoms that can lay you up for a long time while they sift through the myriad of possible diagnoses. When I started writing Mists of the Fae I was at my wits end. I think I had already read well over five hundred books for the year and I was just bored and disgusted.
A good friend of mine said, well, why don’t you write something? It had been so long since I’d even attempted to write anything that I almost laughed but I figured it was better than nothing. I sat down at my computer and before I even realized it I had several chapters typed out for book one and I was hooked.
Just like the rest of you I love learning about the characters and seeing where the story takes them. I write because I love it and just like you, I want to know how it’s going to end. I have a pretty good idea where we’re heading. I can see a lot of the paths in my mind, but one thing I love about this series is sometimes, when there’s a fork in the road, the characters surprise me. It’s fun and exciting.
That same good friend is the one who eventually talked me into publishing this. I know there are some out there who really enjoy the series. I thank you all for sticking with me through book one. I know there were some serious editing issues. I’m working on correcting them and either by the time Secrets Past is released or soon thereafter, Revelations will be upd
ated and re-edited. I pretty much did everything myself the first time through and seriously didn’t expect to get the response I have. Never in a million years did I think over five hundred people would be reading that book. So thanks to everyone I’ve heard from who enjoyed the book. I appreciate all the feedback.
Remember if you enjoyed Revelations or Secrets Past to please review them. It helps to let other readers find the series.
For those of you who want the bio stuff, here it goes:
I was born in New Jersey but I was pretty much raised in eastern Pennsylvania. I’m thirty-five. I’ve been an insurance agent, a child care counselor, a mental health worker, an optician, and a store manager. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts from Cedar Crest College. I’m a wife, a mother, an artist and a survivor. More than anything, I’m a work in progress.
When life knocks you down and you’re forced to face the fact that you’re mortal. It shakes up your priorities and you learn which people and things are worth your time. My husband, my kids, my friends, my art and my writing. That’s what I can’t live without. Everything else is material and replaceable.
Hyperparathyroidism links:
http://www.parathyroid.com/parathyroid-disease.htm
http://www.medicinenet.com/hyperparathyroidism/article.htm
These are decent links. Most people are asymptomatic for years. Other symptoms can be blood pressure fluctuations, fainting, etc, etc. A simple blood test to check your parathyroid hormone levels can rule it out.
