Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
One statement to fuck with two girls. The 2-for-1 the bitch had gotten was Val’s fucking fault, too. As much as he disliked Kendall, she didn’t need to deal with this bullshit, either. To be fair, Outlaw left the bitches to them to play however they wanted. Without Outlaw in circulation, however, some of the bitches also stopped coming around.
Meggie stood in a pair of tiny shorts and a t-shirt with Property of Outlaw on the front and their grim reaper on the back, although her golden hair spilling around her hid it.
One of her slender hands held her son and the other held onto his son, allowing both boys to show off their walking skills. Val ignored the two children.
Outlaw had crooked his finger to Meggie and they all waited to see if she’d go to him after April’s announcement, who’d been dragged away by Mortician for her own safety.
If Outlaw wasn’t focused on Meggie, Val didn’t doubt he would have choked April. The only time Outlaw broke his golden rule of never hurting a woman was when his woman was hurt or threatened.
“Leave me alone!” Kendall shrieked, stumbling towards the club and away from Johnnie, who looked at Meggie. She shook her head, the gesture discouraging him from going after her.
Plastering a smile on her face, Meggie guided Ryan toward Val before lifting Little Man into her arms. The moment she did, Outlaw’s little twin fisted her hair.
“Come here, now, Megan,” Outlaw ordered.
A frown creased her brow. “Um…” Her voice trailed off and she lowered her lashes.
“Megan, listen to me—”
“It’s…it’s okay, Christopher. I-I knew…I m-mean I-I suspected and, um, a lot of the girls here have been coming around since way before I arrived and I know…you know, um, you’d had sex before you met me. A lot of it—”
Outlaw smiled, his relief cooling his rage but not extinguishing it. “Shut the fuck up, baby.”
Discomfort and a small amount of hurt lingered in her face, but she laughed nervously.
Mortician walked up behind Meggie and leveled a glare over her head toward Val before plucking Little Man from her arms and responding to the little boy’s excited greeting. Outlaw pulled her close and wrapped her in his arms before nosing her hair. He whispered something to her and she nodded, her emotions smoothing into her adoration for Outlaw.
“Inside, Megan,” he ordered. “Mort gonna keep my boy while I give you a good, hard fuck. I gotta talk to Val a minute, though.”
“It’s okay, Christopher,” she said, her cheeks flushing with desire, but her gaze suspicious.
Neither she nor Val trusted Outlaw wouldn’t pistol whip Val for being the one April hung around.
“Think I’ll miss out on time eatin’ your pussy to fuckin’ fight, Megan?”
Meggie frowned at him.
“Shit, Prez,” Mort grumbled.
“Jesus, Christopher,” Johnnie barked.
Val had no fucking comment at all. Not one fucking person would understand they were fucking perverted enough to look at a gorgeous, young bitch like Meggie and dream of fucking her. If any of them were honest, they’d admit they lived to hear Outlaw’s raunchy conversations with his girl. Corruption of innocence at its fucking finest. Motherfucker did it on purpose, most of the time. Other times, like now, he responded to an incident. After all, fucking made everything all better.
A punch to the side of the head brought him back to the present. It also reminded him of the cameras he needed to remove before Outlaw discovered them.
“April didn’t fucking mean it,” he defended, compelled as the dickhead who’d allowed her bullshit.
Outlaw punched the other side of his head and Val gritted his teeth against the awful pain. Meggie was gone. She’d just left him to the mercy of her insane husband. “I know the first hit was for Meggie. What the fuck the second one for?”
“My sister, dickhead,” Outlaw snapped, surprising Val.
Until now Outlaw hadn’t gotten involved in anything between the two of them.
“I’m fuckin’ thinkin’ you a masochistic motherfucker,” Outlaw growled. “Otherwise, you one stupid assfuck. Ain’t no other reason to piss me the fuck off on the fuckin’ regular.”
“Yo’, Val, you don’t think you upsetting Zoann?” Mortician asked, eyeing Little Man who gripped the material of his jean covered leg. “You the motherfucker been moping behind her pussy for years.”
Just to make shit worse, Kendall glided toward them, her face unreadable. “I don’t want April here anymore,” she said tightly, glancing between the four of them.
Johnnie sighed. “Gorgeous, I’m going to talk to April, but you have to know I had a sex life before you and I met.”
Uncertainty slid into her eyes. “How many women who you’ve slept with still come around?”
“Does it matter, sweetheart? You have me. Not them. I’m marrying you.”
Instead of responding, she turned pleading brown eyes to Outlaw. “I-I don’t want her here.”
Outlaw growled and opened his mouth, but Little Man’s imitation of that growl stopped him. He glanced down at his son, smiling and growling again, while Johnnie escorted Kendall away. Outlaw swung CJ into his arms and the boy squealed.
Ryan leaned against Val’s legs and reached his arms out. “Dadadada…?” His chant ended on a question and Val wondered what the fuck the child had asked him.
Unable to resist him, he lifted him up, too, wishing for the millionth time, he could be different.
Chapter Fifteen
Four days later, Val puffed on his cigarette, bottle of tequila in hand, watching Zoann as she sat with Meggie and Kendall. She looked fucking green, her hair piled in another messy bun, her scrubs with some type of fucking flowers stretched across her swollen breasts. The three of them were whispering amongst themselves. Tired and dusty from the road, he didn’t need to be a rocket scientist to know what they were discussing. Not with the way Zoann’s gorgeous, whiskey-colored eyes kept darting his way.
They were talking about him. Or, maybe, Zoann being pregnant, which had to do with him, since he’d made her pregnant again.
Not that she’d told him. The cameras clued him in. Even though he’d been on the road, he’d watched her, and found the time to jerk off when she’d walked around naked last night. Those times never lasted long. She always hurried to cover her body. A couple of times he’d watched her twist and turn in bed, until she gave in to her body’s demands to play with her pussy. She hadn’t had another nightmare, though, and he was grateful.
He rubbed the bottle against his forehead, groaning. On the road, away from her and their son, he’d missed her so much. Fuck, he had decisions to make. If he wanted her, he had to let go of his own bullshit to help her through hers. He just didn’t know if he had the patience to do it. Did he even want to spend the rest of his life fucking one pussy? Except for the weeks he’d been with Zoann after Outlaw’s shooting, he hadn’t ever dealt with only one girl.
If only she understood each infraction he committed against her, he repaid in fucking spades. The worse thing about her presence was his inability to touch her and not receiving her lovely smile. Her sadness in her most unguarded moments, when she thought no one was looking, almost killed him, too. Supposedly ignorant of her rape, he couldn’t help her.
She’d never told him. He’d always rejected her, insisting he didn’t know what to do with emotions. But she broke Val’s heart and he wished fucking Logan hadn’t blurted out Zoann’s secret days before Johnnie blew him the fuck away.
Her gaze flickered his way again and he smirked at her, raising his bottle in salute. She glanced at him through her obscenely long lashes, a look that always arrowed straight to Val’s heart and dick.
The door opened and Val watched Outlaw and John Boy walk in, laughing. They headed to him and he straightened in his chair, facing away from Zoann but still so aware of her.
“Valentine,” Outlaw greeted, rubbing a hand over the stubble on his j
aw. “Any other news?”
Val drank from his bottle again and shook his head. On his way back in, Val had gotten a call about the sheriff. Intel from inside headquarters made them aware Sheriff Moncette had gotten a phone call and then had been in a sudden hurry to get out of town. Last minute trips happened all the time, but the excuse of his mother being sick…lying motherfucker. His mother was cold in the fucking ground. So why the lie and why the fucking huge withdrawal from his bank account? Val needed answers to those pressing questions. “No.”
Johnnie scowled and rubbed the back of his neck. “Every lead Riley has had, has fallen through. Brooks can’t find shit on him. This, whatever it is, is the closest we’ve come to getting anything on him. He’s going to file those fucking papers and be the pretty boy candidate that has every pussy around wet for him.”
“He is the county sheriff,” Val muttered.
“And he’s fuckin’ dirty,” Outlaw stated flatly. “Motherfucker get ten fuckin’ Gs a month from us, plus fuckin’ holiday bonuses. Not only is he fuckin’ playin’ me, he playin’ me and takin’ my fuckin’ money.”
Dirty or not, senatorial candidate or not, Moncette was still law enforcement. He could fuck them in all sorts of ways. Had Outlaw even considered that? Val hadn’t until he’d gotten an alert yesterday morning and watched as Zoann stumbled to the bathroom and threw up so early in the morning. An hour later, Meggie had come in, carrying 7Up and crackers and Val fucking knew immediately what that meant.
“Hey, you,” Meggie interrupted, stepping next to Outlaw and brushing her lips against his.
Val rubbed his eyes, wondering why the fuck she styled her hair in two pigtails. He hated that shit on her and he hated it on Bailey, too. Not for any reason other than gorgeous chicks like them shouldn’t be allowed to make themselves look any fucking hotter.
Noticing Val’s overly long stare at Meggie, Outlaw lifted a brow and pulled her into the ‘v’ of his legs, slanting his mouth over hers.
Sipping from his bottle again, Val leaned back in his chair. “Stalker psycho at work again.”
Johnnie snickered, eyeing Kendall, who lulled back just behind Zoann. He waved her over, wrapping an arm around her the moment she got close. “Hey, gorgeous.”
No one said anything as Kendall smiled. “When I woke up, you were already gone and…”
Apparently, Johnnie had smoothed shit over with her. Good. Now, Val could go back to disliking her, guilt-free. Outlaw tolerated Kendall for Johnnie’s sake but Val didn’t think the man would ever forgive the stupid bitch for leading Meggie into danger. Just thinking about it, hurt Val’s head. No matter how much of a brave front Meggie put on, Val watched her, too, and saw the pain she still suffered over her lost baby. She had three and a half months to go before her doctor would give her the go-ahead to try for another one.
Try? Another swallow of tequila. No trying in this fucking club. If his brothers were anything like him—and they were—Meggie, Kendall, Zoann, and Bailey had the distinction of being the only girls they’d ever stuck their dicks in—well, in pussies—without the benefit of a condom. The four of them were walking sex education manuals. Unprotected sex led to unplanned kids.
For Meggie’s sake, Val hoped the trend continued, although, if Outlaw knocked her up again, the baby wouldn’t be unplanned. Meggie wanted another baby. Outlaw didn’t give a fuck. As long as he had her, she never had to have another baby for him.
A tap on his shoulder made him turn. Zoann. Her unreadable expression annoyed the fuck out of him and he needed to work on that shit, too. Negative shit was so much fucking easier to hand out. Patience, understanding and kindness took a lot of fucking work. Worse, any consideration was taken as weakness and weakness made life even harder.
“Yeah?”
Her cheeks pinkened and she looked as if she wanted to crawl somewhere and hide. “I need to talk to you.”
He tipped the bottle back again, damn near finished with it, and slanted a glance at her. “If it’s about the new baby, I already know.” He shrugged, applauding his words. She wouldn’t have to torture herself to find a way to tell him. “You haven’t been looking green for nothing lately,” he added to show her he kept tabs on her and sympathized with her condition.
Mortification crossed her face. Why hadn’t she taken his words in the manner he’d meant them? The sudden silence didn’t help. “Nothing to be ashamed of about having a kid, especially my kid,” he said, scowling as she turned ten shades of red.
Before anyone spoke, Zoann’s phone buzzed and her brows drew together. She took the phone from her pocket, then shoved it back, blushing a little more. “Okay,” she pushed out and her lips thinned. The hurt and rejection added to the shame, confusing the fuck out of Val. “If you know, I guess there’s nothing for us to discuss.” She glanced at Meggie. “Are you sure it won’t be a problem watching Ryan?”
Glaring at Val but trying to deliver an unspoken message to him through the brow-wiggle language, Meggie shook her head at Zoann. “No—”
“It never is,” Kendall interrupted with certainty. “We can handle it.”
Offering a tight smile, Zoann mumbled, “thanks,” and returned to the table to grab her keys and purse before heading out without giving him a second glance.
Val squirmed in his seat, not liking the sudden scrutiny from everyone and nervous at the anger flaming in Outlaw’s eyes.
“Where’s she going, Meggie?” Val demanded.
“To work.” Meggie didn’t lie for shit, giving herself away with her lip-chewing and foot shifting. “Like always.”
“She’s going somewhere else. I want to know where. You used to be on my side. When the fuck you turned traitor and shifted your loyalties? And if you’re doing a loyalty-switch, learn to lie fucking better.”
“I’m trying to be on your side, too, moron,” Meggie snapped.
“And I don’t fucking speak Brow Wiggle, Meggie.”
Folding her arms, Meggie rolled her eyes. “You should speak Zoann. All she needed you to do was tell her you were happy and give her a hug.”
“Are you fucking stupid?” Val growled. “I did fucking tell her that.”
“Did not,” Meggie yelled.
“Did.”
“Nuh-uh.”
Val pounded on the table. “God fucking damn it, woman, then send me a fucking text and tell me what the fuck to say. Remember when you did that? Huh? But you fucking stopped like I suddenly got a fucking brain to know the right shit to say to her.”
“You must have figured out what to say to her at some point,” Meggie grouched. “She’s pregnant, isn’t she?”
A sore spot with him, considering the events right before and just after he’d made love to Zoann a few weeks ago, led to this moment in time. “I fucking figured it out, Meggie, while you were too busy making stupid, irrational fucking choices that almost fucking ruined you, to fucking stop and help me. Maybe, if you would’ve used your fucking brain to help me instead of allowing Kendall to fucking bait you at every turn, your baby would still be inside—”
Click.
Val’s words registered the same time the cold barrel of a gun pressed against his head. Just as bad, Johnnie had removed his fucking blade and Mort’s look said: you one stupid motherfucker.
“Megan, go,” Outlaw said carefully, his hand trembling from the need to pull the trigger. “I gotta talk to this motherfucker.”
No, he needed to kill this motherfucker, Val decided.
Her face pale and her eyes blank, Meggie tugged on her husband’s arm. “It’s okay, Christopher.”
“No, it ain’t, baby,” Outlaw disagreed, his voice vibrating with fury.
Kendall spoke fast to Johnnie, words rushing from her mouth.
“Christopher—”
“Shut the fuck up, Megan,” Outlaw snarled, breathing hard. “This club fucking business now, so you ain’t got shit to do with it.”
“Val’s my friend,” she said quietly, her mood plummeting a
little further. “Friends have disagreements. It doesn’t mean they have to die if he says something I don’t like and—”
Outlaw yanked the gun from Val’s head. “FUCK, Megan. This a fuckin’ club that got motherfuckin’ rules and a supreme fuckin’ rule? Don’t fuck with you. That’s my fuckin’ rule,” he said, indicating himself with the barrel of his nine. “This ain’t no fuckin’ bitch school where a fuckin’ ass beatin’ settle shit. Motherfucker break my rule, he got fuckin’ consequences.”
“I understand,” Megan began.
“Stop interferrin’ in shit, baby,” Outlaw roared, as if he’d reached the end of his rope.
Maybe, he had. The loss of Meggie’s baby had cut him deeply. It left him helpless to help her.
“I’m not interfering.”
“The fuck you ain’t. Bitches in my club distractin’ the fuck out of me. I have to stop fuckin’ club business to fuck up motherfuckers over you.”
“You choose to do it,” Meggie said dully.
Kendall crept forward and positioned herself between Meggie and Outlaw. Mortician shook his head in disgust and rolled his eyes. Johnnie groaned and put his head on the table. Val didn’t blame him. If the bitch was for him, he’d hide his fucking face, too.
Outlaw’s brows drew together in a vicious glare. “What the fuck you fuckin’ doin’, Kendall?”
Kendall raised her chin. “Protecting Meggie from you.” She pinned Val with a look of venom. “You’ve turned into a dickhead to Zoann, so why shouldn’t Meggie have switched loyalties?”
Of all the fucking bitches to call him a dickhead, fucking Kendall had to be the one to do it. Bitch barely told him ‘hello’. Meggie should’ve been the one to read him the riot act. He deserved it from her.
Drawing in a deep breath, Johnnie leaned back, casually brushing his side where he kept one of his holstered guns, code for my bitch just called you a dickhead and there’s not shit you can do about it and live.
“Come get your bitch, Johnnie,” Outlaw ordered, holding himself rigid until John Boy removed Kendall.
