The Azrael (Book 3): Alpha Zulu Page 24

by Jesse Gagnon

Bear: The largest Azrael recorded in the history of Azrael. He stands 7’10” tall and had actually been in control of his body for over two years before he met Randall and the others. He was an Olympic bodybuilder and played college football for Penn State eight years before he met Randall. Bad foot placement and a charging fullback destroyed all of the ligaments in his kneecap in the first month of his last season as a senior. His NFL dreams were put to rest and he graduated with less than stellar grades. During rehabilitation, he discovered the love for powerlifting and soon after was asked to compete in a bodybuilding competition. After rave reviews and winning his first competition, he made it a lifestyle change. Unfortunately, five years later after years and years of conditioning his body the Azrael virus found its way to Bear while doing what he loved, powerlifting. A freak lightning storm a few months after his transformation brought him back in control of his actions. Discovering that he was alone and couldn’t communicate he lived a life of solitude in Bolingbrook eating wild animals and livestock of nearby farms. His muscle definition and muscle mass increased considerably along with bone hardening, which brought him to the height of 7’10.

Harry: His dark brown body hair covers his body and helps his Azrael companions quickly identify him. Harry lived an average life, working mediocre paying jobs and enjoyed the outdoors. He would spend every weekend hiking and camping if he didn’t have to work overtime on the weekend to pay for his father’s hospital bills. He was diagnosed with cancer a few years before the outbreak and was given a year to live. Fortunately, he lived much longer than they predicted and Harry was able to spend six more months with him than was earlier predicted. After his death, the debt he acquired for his hospice care along with the funeral and gravestone arrangements brought him to bankruptcy. A few months later he found himself living out of his vehicle up until the outbreak. He was infected while sleeping with his windows rolled down in his car as soon as the virus found its way to his city. It is unknown when he reacquired his connection to his body.

Karla: She worked at Martha’s Diner as a waitress for several years before the outbreak with the attempt to save up enough money to travel to California with the hopes of becoming a successful actress. She had already saved over twenty five thousand dollars and was only a few months away from the move to Southern California. She had an apartment leased for a year starting at the beginning of April 2016 and she had planned on a long road trip with some friends from Chicago to Los Angeles in March. Unfortunately, the outbreak caused them to cancel their trip and stayed at home with their families in hopes that it would blow over. While working one night, a small herd of eight broke into the diner and infected Karla and everyone else inside.

Red: Other than his piercings and gothic attire, not much is known about this recluse. He was captured with Karla before being brought to the prison.
