Gray eyes lock on mine as her tongue rests between her lips. Then she’s grinning down at me. I forget to breath as my hand cups her neck to drag her lips back to mine. With a shake of her head, Sugar Jay giggles. The fiery glint in her eyes telling me that she’s in charge and I drop my arm. Cool fingers tickle my flesh when Sugar Jay tugs my zipper free and I bite on to my lip when she tentatively takes my cock in her hand. ‘Shit, Sugar squeeze me.’ Her giggle is a thousand pinpricks along my spine as I arch into her grasp. She’s holding me firmly. Her hand sliding up and down. Squeezing me as she pumps me. I lose all thoughts as heat surges through me. My breathing shortens with each pump and twist she makes. The pulse in my head matches the beat in my cock. It’ll not be long before I lose it. ‘Mouth, Sugar. Let me cum in your mouth.’

‘Don’t you want to cum in my pussy.’

‘Next time. When I’ve got you nice and juicy.’

‘I’m wet Sundance. My pussy is slick waiting for you.’

‘Keep talking like that, and I’ll be cumming all over your hand.’

Sugar Jay giggles as she pumps, twists and manipulates my cock. My hips arch into her hands while my fingers grip onto the sheets.

‘Oh Babe, if you cum. We’ll only have to start again.’

I smile. Heat is surfing through me. ‘I’m fine with that, Sugar. We’ve got all afternoon to play.’

Sugar Jay’s lips whisper over my flesh as she nibbles my skin. Her teeth tugging on the flesh. I couldn’t wait. I want her warm mouth on my cock. None too gently I thrust my hips forward as I push my jeans down, kicking them off. Again her laughter warms me as her mouth skims over the top of my pubic hair. Her lips skating around my cock as she continues to tease me with her hand. ‘Now, Sugar.’

Sugar Jay shuffles down until she’s kneeling between my legs. Her gaze searches mine out. Her teeth flash when she smiles. Her lips pursing when she kisses the tip. ‘No more teasing Sugar. This is it.’

Her mouth is just as hot as I know it will be. My back arches as Sugar Jay suckles on the head. Her tongue teases the slit, tasting me. I grab the bedsheets to stop myself from cumming there and then. ‘Fuck.’ She’s taking me further in. Her tongue swirls around my cock, trailing over the throbbing veins. Her teasing is slow to begin with, but soon she picks up speed. Her head bobbing back and forth as she slides my cock in and out of her mouth. Her teeth scrapping the flesh. ‘Fuck, Sugar.’

My hips soon match the tempo of her hand and mouth. Thrusting in and out as she pumps and sucks. My neck arches. I’m unable to hold back. I shudder violently as I lose control.

When I open my eyes, I discover Sugar Jay watching me. Her gray eyes black. ‘Ready for round two.’

  *******

‘Shit Sundance what’s with the stupid grin.’ I glance up at Trax from the pool table. The club’s quiet and my body’s sated after the afternoon I’ve spent in bed with Sugar Jay. I study my brother, taking in the changes.

Coming to Burntwood Creek was a mistake for the younger man. His mother wasn’t the person he was expecting. At one time Trax had been a joker. Now all that is gone. As I study him, I vow to protect Charlie. That once Sam and Minty are dealt with, and Devil’s Comfort owns Burntwood Creek. The violence will stop. ‘Sugar Jay.’ My gaze shifts to the door as Layla came into the room. Her red hair loose. ‘There’s no blood between you and Layla.’

Trax drops his cue on the pool table. His body stiffening as he watches the redhead. ‘She’s still my sister.’

‘I messed up with Sugar Jay – Don’t you be as stupid.’

‘Leave it.’ Trax swallows a large amount of his beer. His gaze still on Layla.

‘Want another game.’ Trax nods as I hand him his cue back, resetting the table. I’ve just broken the balls when the door to the communal room swings open. Crow is standing there with a stranger at his side. At my nod, Trax and I drop our cues, the game of pool forgotten.

‘Is there a problem Crow.’ Crow glances at me as we settle around a table in Nightshades. The brunette, who’s about five-five, shifts her dark gaze between the three of us, chewing on her lower lip as her fingers tap on the bottle of beer Violet handed her before returning to the bar.

‘This is Maggie – She was hanging outside when I arrived.’ My gaze shifts to the woman. Her eyes don’t meet mine as she stares at the table. She’s on the thin side, and her body is shaking slightly.

‘Do you need anything, Maggie?’ The woman’s gaze flickers briefly as she looks at me then looks away again. Her head shaking. ‘No.’ Her voice is a squeak, and she clears her throat before beginning again. ‘No. The beer’s fine thanks.’ I tilt my head, my eyebrow arching at Crow.

‘Maggie. Tell them why you’re here.’ Maggie’s head bounces wildly. ‘Sally said you were taking on girls.’

Sally was one of the first girls we recruited from Sam’s operation, and occasionally she’ll recommend a girl. ‘You’re looking for a job.’ Again her head bounces so hard, I think it might drop off at any moment. ‘Why here?’

‘Sally said you’re good to her and she doesn’t have to work more than what she wants too.’

‘So you’re a working girl Maggie.’

  ‘Yes.’

  ‘You work for anyone before.’

Maggie didn’t look at me as she continues to chew on her lip. She raises her bottle, only to discover it is empty and I blink at Violet, who quickly appears with another bottle. After taking a sip of the cold beer. Maggie answers. ‘Yeah. I work for Sam – But Sally said that doesn’t bother you.’

‘You stay here while I go look for Sally, okay.’ Maggie isn’t the first of Sam’s girls to approach the club. But I still went in search of Sally, who’s sunning herself in the backyard. The woman didn’t believe in tan lines and I grin as my gaze wanders over the blond.

‘You know a woman called Maggie.’ Sally doesn’t remove her sunglasses and I bet she hasn’t bothered to open her eyes. ‘Yeah. She’s young. Worked for Sam for a few years.’

‘She’s here looking for a job.’

‘Want me to keep an eye on her.’

‘Yeah.’ As I rise, my gaze clashes with Sugar Jay. ‘Fuck!’

  ‘You got a problem.’

I smile down at Sally who hasn’t move. ‘Not one I can’t handle.’

  *******

Sugar Jay doesn’t wait for me, and I have to jog after her. My eyes fall on the unmade bed and I smile as I remember the afternoon we spent there. Then I turn towards the bathroom. Sugar Jay has Charlie on the changing mat. Stripping him. My gaze glances to the tub which is slowly filling with water. Her gaze doesn’t meet mine. ‘Sugar Jay.’

  ‘What?’

  ‘Talk to me.’

  ‘About what.’

  ‘How about the garden.’

Sugar Jay continues to ignore me as she places Charlie amongst a pile of towels on the floor. Her top joins Charlie’s pile of dirty clothes. ‘There’s nothing to talk about. Now if you don’t mind Charlie and I are taking a bath.’

‘I do mind.’ I lower the seat of the toilet and take my place to watch Sugar Jay as she continues to strip. My cock twitches and I smile. ‘You know Sugar; my cock didn’t move until now.’

Her eyebrow rises as she picks Charlie up and settles into the tepid bath. Her smile on the baby as he giggles at her. I come to kneel by the tub. ‘I’m not interested Sundance.’

I wrap my hand around her hair. ‘Good because I wouldn’t want you to be jealous of a working girl.’

  ‘She was naked.’

‘Yeah she was. And so are you. Right now in this tub with my son.’ I reach down and kiss Sugar Jay. She tastes of chocolate, and I bet she’s been at the ice cream. ‘And believe me Sugar. There’s nothing sexier than watching a woman with her baby. With my son.’

  ‘You’re not just saying that.’

‘Look at me Sugar.’ Sugar Jay’s gaze warms me and I swallow my groan. Her lips are begging for me to kiss them again. Her hair dips into the water, leavi
ng damp tendrils clinging to her neck and cheek. I give her another kiss. My tongue locking with hers. Charlie’s giggles break into my dream and I draw back. ‘No I’m not just saying that. Settle Charlie and I’ll show you.’

Her giggle warms me. ‘You think I’m going to let you fuck me after you were ogling another woman.’

As my fingers continue to stroke the flesh at the back of her neck, my smile grows at the shiver she releases. My lips whisper over her neck. ‘Yeah – now hurry up – The water is freezing.’

  Chapter 13

  ‘How do I look?’

Sundance stood at the bottom of the stoop while I remain by the Harley. His lopsided smile and the way his gaze glides over me leaves my insides quivering and my tongue runs over my lips. I don’t know why I wear lipstick. Between my licking my lips, and Sundance’s kisses, it never stays on for long. My gaze flickers over Sundance’s shoulder as I take a deep breath. Although I’m eager to meet his aunt. To find out about the boy he once was. I wish we were anywhere but here.

‘You look good.’ His husky drawl draws my attention away from the house back to him. A house which looks inviting with its faint glow from the large living room window. A ginger cat sat at the top of the stoop. It’s bold gaze on me. Behind the cat is a large potted plant. I don’t know much about plants. Just that this one is green.

‘Has your aunt always lived here?’

Sundance shoulders roll as he glances at the door. His strawberry blond hair, still damp at the ends, curl into his neck. Underneath his cut, he wears a plain blue shirt and gray tee-shirt which has seen better days. The interstate emblem faded. His jeans hung low on his hips. The thick material hugging his ass. His legs are long and he has the denim tucked into the ankles of his black leather boots. My gaze shifts back up to his face, and I answer his warm smile with one of my own. I’ve made a lot of promise to myself and each day I break one. ‘Yes - Now come on.’

Just as I reach the hand Sundance is holding out, the frosted glass door opens and I find myself studying his aunt, whose gaze lingers on Sundance. She’s not an old woman. Somewhere in her mid to late forties I guess. Her black dress hugs her slim figure. As my gaze drops, I suppress my smile. On her feet are the fluffiest pinkest slippers I have ever seen. ‘Come in you two.’

Sundance stills, and his smile slips, and I wait. When he does turn to face his aunt, although his smile is back, it’s not as relaxed or as natural as the one he had given me. He bounces the three steps and kisses her cheek. As his aunt hugs him, I feel like the outsider I am, intruding on a special moment.

‘– You remember John, don’t you, James.’ Sundance’s Aunt has led us to the room with the low light. John with his gray hair has to be about fifty. His smile, which is missing from his eyes, is stilted as he offers his hand to Sundance. ‘James.’

‘It’s Sundance. No one calls me James anymore.’ The room bristles as it falls into silence when brown eyes lock onto blue. Then his uncle gives a small dip of his head.

‘Sundance.’ Sundance’s lips pinch as he returns the smile.

‘You remember Billy don’t you. Of course you do. How could you forget Billy, when you both ran around together – Thick as thieves.’ Aunt Harriot ran her hand nervously through her blond hair and my gaze flashes over to Billy. His dark hair is streaked with gray. Although Sundance and Billy shake hands, there’s no warmth. No hugs from either man. ‘And that’s Judith. – Can I get you a drink. A beer or something.’

Sundance smile is warmer when he greets Judith, her dark hair pulled back in a braid. ‘A beer would be great. - This is Sugar Jay.’ When everyone’s eyes fell on me, I step further into the room. It's Judith who comes over and wraps her arm around me as she guides me to the striped sofa. My gaze drifts over the room. It was just as inviting inside as it looked outside. John returned to his seat, a matching chair. Sundance and Billy remain by the window. On the wall there are several photographs and a photograph of two girls catch my attention.

‘You have girls.’ Judith follows my gaze, her smile making her pretty. ‘Twins. You have a boy.’

  ‘Yeah – Charlie.’

‘Here we are.’ I bite down on my snigger as Aunt Harriot passes Sundance his beer in a glass. Unless it’s whisky, Sundance usually drinks his alcohol straight from the bottle.

‘So where have you been living Sundance?’ My smile remains hidden behind my drink as Aunt Harriot stumbles over Sundance’s nickname.

  ‘Comfort Springs.’

  *******

‘I haven’t eaten a meal as good as that for a while.’

My stomach is stuffed and I push my plate away. Aunt Harriot’s a good cook, and after eating the mediocre food at the clubhouse, I’ve had two servings of her pot roast, followed by a slice of lemon drizzle cake. Sundance’s voice rises and I watch as he and his uncle argue heatedly about the elections. Billy isn’t helping to defuse the situation as he throws in his wild opinions.

After the stilted beginning at the start of the evening, it hadn’t take long for everyone to relax and I turn my attention to Aunt Harriot. Her hand lay on the table and I cover it with one of my own. ‘I’ll clear the table.’

I’d just closed the door on the dishwasher when Aunt Harriot came to stand beside me. ‘What was he like?’

  ‘Who? Sundance?’

‘Yes – As a child.’ Aunt Harriot pushes against the counter. A coffee in her hand. Her smile slips as her eyes turn watery.

‘I thought he was happy. He and Billy are the same age, and they went to the same school. After school. James, sorry -Sundance would come visit. Then he became thick with Minty. He was unhappy, but we had our own problems. When his parents died. I think a part of him died too.’

Aunt Harriot rinses her mug, her gaze on the yard, but I doubt if she sees the trees or the flowers. ‘I invited Sundance to come and live here. Oh I know he and Billy were no longer friends. But I wanted to offer him the stability which was missing.’. Her blue eyes bore into mine. ‘I’m glad he’s back, and maybe with you and Charlie here. He’ll stop all this trouble he’s making.’

How can I tell Aunt Harriot I’m not sure if I was staying? That once my home back in Noir Valley is ready, I’m thinking of returning to my family with Charlie. ‘He needs justice for his parents, for Martha, and Emmi.’ I was surprised at how easy Emmi’s name slips off my tongue.

  *******

‘That wasn’t too bad.’ I turn to look at Sundance standing by the swings frame as my feet push against the ground as I push the swing. After leaving Aunt Harriot’s, Sundance had brought us to the park. It’s deserted and the only light we have is provided by the street lamp. His answer is slow in coming as he continues to look over the playing fields.

‘It was okay – but what happens when she finds out I’m to blame for her brother’s death. For my family’s murder?’

My booted feet skid over the padded asphalt as I bring the swing to a halt. ‘It wasn’t your fault.’

‘Wasn’t it. If I hadn’t been mixed up with the Brody’s. My family would still be alive.’

‘And you wouldn’t have met Emmi. Or come to Comfort Springs.’ I leap from the swing to stand beside him. I want Sundance to look at me, and I grab his chin. My fingers curling into the flesh. ‘And you wouldn’t have known me and there wouldn’t be any Charlie. Is that what you want Sundance.’ My head pounds while I wait for his answer. I couldn’t imagine life without Charlie.

  ‘That’s dirty, Sugar Jay.’

‘it’s life. I’m sorry you lost your family. But I’m not sorry you ended up in Comfort Springs. Because I wouldn’t want to change anything about my life.’

  ‘Nothing.’

‘Okay maybe one or two things. But not Charlie.’

Sundance loops his arms around my waist as he pulls me in close. His lips brush over my forehead, and I slide a hand over his chest as I snuggle into his body. ‘He’s something isn’t he, Sugar Jay.’

‘Yeah. – Will you forget about your ven
detta?’ Although Sundance stiffens, he doesn’t break away from my hold. My breath sticks. I know his answer simply because I know what Bastion’s would be.

  ‘No.’

‘Bastion would accept you in the Demons if you move to Noir Valley.’ His rumbling chest has me leaning back as I a look at him. ‘What.’

‘I’m a Devil’s Comfort, Sugar. There’ll be no changing alliances. Just as I’ll not be moving to Noir Valley.’

  ‘You might change your mind?’

‘No – Burntwood Creek is my home – And it’s where I’m staying.’ His hand on my back is comforting as he strokes me. His fingers light. ‘I’d like Charlie to be raised here.’

‘He has family in Noir Valley.’

  ‘We can visit.’

My heart skids. Is Sundance asking for more? ‘What about us Sundance?’

‘I don’t know. I guess we just go with the flow.’

‘Go with the flow… Do you love me?’ One moment I’m in his arms, the next I was alone as he begins to pace. ‘Sundance.’

‘Forget it, Sugar Jay. We need to get back to the club.’

‘And I need to know what I am to you.’

‘I’m not having this conversation tonight.’

‘No – When will you have it.’

‘When I can think. When Sam and Minty no longer own Burntwood Creek.’

‘If it was Emmi standing in front of you right now. What would your answer be?’ The words are out. My heart is a runaway train as my head thunders. Yes, Emmi is my enemy.

‘You’re not Emmi, and I’m not answering your damn question.

‘Maybe I’ll answer it for you.’

  ‘Sugar.’

  ‘Step back Sundance.’

‘Where are you going.’ Sundance is still standing by the swings as I spin towards the path. I need to get away. The evening had been good. Sure it had been a bit fraught to begin with, but I’ve gained new friends in Aunt Harriot and Judith. Yeah leaving Burntwood Creek was going to be hard. But as Sundance said. It’ only a drive away.

  ‘Back to the club.’

  ‘The bike’s the other way.’
