“Sure. Thanks, by the way, for doing this,” I say to him as we walk to one of the panic panels.

Giving up on Jacob, I decide to introduce myself. I stick my hand out. “Hey, I’m Jade.”

She smiles, rolling her eyes at Jacob who is following Clay out of the room. “Roxanne. Nice to meet you. You have a great home here.”

  “Oh, it’s not mine, it’s Clay’s,” I reply.

  “Oh,” she says quietly.

“I have an apartment over in Highland Park.”

“Oh wow. I live off of Baskette,” she says enthusiastically.

“Awesome, once I’m back in my apartment, we need to go to dinner or something.” I smile. “Have you met Jacob’s sister, Sloan, yet? You could so do girls’ night with us.”

She shakes her head. “No, we are kind of new so we’re just taking it one date at a time. This is the first introduction to anyone.”

“Oh,” I say, realizing I’ve stuck my size nine in my mouth.

“Oh it’s just as much me as it is him. Trust me. I’m not rushing into anything. I like to go on dates, he likes to go on dates. We like to drink beer and fuck.” She shrugs. “That’s all either of us want right now. When that changes, we’ll let each other know.”

I’m sure my eyes are as big as saucers. “Okay.”

“Hey, it’s okay. This isn’t for everyone. We both have our reasons for keeping this the way it is,” she says casually.

“Hey, whatever works for you guys. Most people don’t understand Clay and me. Hell, half the time I don’t understand us,” I say just as the guys come back in the room.

Wrapping his arm around her waist, Jacob smiles. “Let’s go, babe.”

She grins up at him and then back to me. “It was nice meeting you, Jade, maybe I’ll see you soon.”

After they leave, he tells me about a couple of changes Jacob made to the alarm system as we eat our steaks and salad. Now we’re sitting on the couch watching TV. He pulls my feet into his lap. “So, how did you feel about what Chelsea had to say today?”

I sigh and lie back as he rubs my feet. “It is what it is. I think she’s right, though. It all kinda makes sense. He wants your money, that’s all. He’s trying to scare you through me.” I’m not going to mention the girl you love part.

“You know I’m not going to let anything happen to you, right?” he says stoically. I’m sure he’s thinking about his parents. He told me one night that deep down, he wishes he’d have stayed inside, but he thought for sure his parents would follow him out like they’d practiced. He figures his dad stayed behind to try and help his mom. His dad was closest to the window he’d crawled out of. His mother was not far behind, but he was sure they’d done his father first. His mother would’ve never gotten sliced so horribly if his father had been able to help her.

I nod. “Yes, Clay, I know.” I reach over and touch the side of his face. “This is all going to work out. We’re all going to be okay.”

He grabs my arm, pulling me over into his lap and bringing on another night of hot, wet sex. Just before I doze off, I hear him whisper, “You are the girl I love.”

  CHAPTER 25

  GIBBS

“No, Marco. I’m fighting this weekend. I have to get some of this anger out. I’ve already tried fucking it out and that’s not working.” That gets a small chuckle from Huck. I throw him a pointed glare.

Marco slaps the table. “Fine! You have to gain a few pounds before this weekend though. I need to move you up a class. Doc says Huck needs to take a few weeks off.” He grunts.

“No problem,” I say with a smirk at Huck. He flips me off.

Hearing Harm whimper from the small monitor on the table, Huck jumps up and leaves the room.

Marco laughs and shakes his head. “That boy is gonna run himself to death.”

Sly laughs. “Hasn’t he figured out until they start screaming, you don’t go get them?”

Marco sits back in his chair. “Nope, Huck’s the one who is going to have to have three or four kids before he’s not a sucker for them. Boy’s been a hard ass his entire life, kid comes along and he’s a sucker.”

“Some could say the same about you, Marco,” Sly nudges. “Princess came along and we had to have a nursery at the gym. I did figure, though, with Huck living with us in the beginning that he’d be a little more acclimated when Harm came into the world.”

About that time the door to the conference room flies open and Krista comes barreling in. Today the outfit is yellow rain boots, a hot pink tutu and a shirt Jade bought her that says, Because, I’m a freakin’ princess! “Daddy!” she says just as she launches herself at him.

“Hey, Princess.” He kisses her head. “What’s going on? Who brought you here?”

“I did,” Jade says from the doorway. “I’m watching her for Kara, but I just got called into Memorial for a meeting.” She gives us an unsteady look.

“Okay, no big deal. Princess, go check on Harm, would you?” Sly asks.

“Sure, Daddy!” She wiggles down and runs out of the room.

I stand up and walk to Jade. “What’s wrong?”

“I’m being called into the HR department about a complaint,” she says nervously.

“Do you want me to come with you?” I say as I pull her into a hug.

Marco doesn’t give her the option to answer. “Gibbs, you go with her. Find out what in the hell is going on. Jade here is a ray of fucking sunshine, just look at her hair.”

She goes to argue with him, but he cuts her off. “Plus, if he stays here, he ain’t gonna get shit done anyway. He’ll be stalking his damn phone.”

She giggles into my chest. “Okay, Marco, if it will help you out that much.”

A little while later we are sitting in a small waiting area. A short older lady comes out into the room. “Ms. Chambers, I’m Gwen. Can you come back please?”

I let her go in and a moment later, Gavin walks through the waiting area, shocked to see me, but continues into the closed office.

A few minutes later, I hear Jade’s voice raised. I step closer to the door to see if I can hear, in case I need to go in there.

“I didn’t sexually harass him! He’s pissed because I dumped him. He approached me! He stalked me! You wanna talk about inappropriate, talk about the fact that he’s my doctor and he fucked me!” I would bust in there but it’s almost comical to listen to from outside. “Call Lucille in here, she’ll tell you he did the pursuing.”

I finally hear the older lady. “Ms. Chambers, please calm down and have a seat.”

“No, I will not calm down. He’s trying to screw with my life, all because I broke up with him. You couldn’t even say I broke up with him because it was just supposed to be casual.” If Gavin thought this would win her back, he was sadly fucking mistaken.

“We will speak to your tech, Ms. Lucille Gilbert. However, until then we have to suspend you with pay.”

“What? I don’t want that on my record!” I can picture her freckles standing out brightly against her skin, like they do when she’s pissed.

“Ms. Chambers, if after investigation you’re found not at fault then it will not appear on your employment record, but if you are found at fault…” I hear the pause as the lady is trying to sooth Jade. “The hospital has a no tolerance policy, you will be fired and owe back the amount you were paid on suspension. All of this was laid out in the contract you signed.”

“Fine,” she says just before swinging open the door where I see she has tears pouring down her face in anger.

She falls into my arms. “Hey, this is all going to get sorted out.” I pull her face back so I can look at her. “I promise.”

About that time, Gavin walks out into the hallway where we are now. He smirks, actually fucking smirks at her. This time it’s me who sees red. “Motherfucker, I’ve never known such a pussy in my life. Someone who has to file a complaint because he gets dumped.”

He steps toward me and I’m ready. I’m so ready to be
at that shithead’s face in, but Jade steps in front of me. She’s calm now, like right before a tornado hits. “Gavin,” she says quietly. “Just know that if I lose my job over this, I’ll get you. I know how to load more than a dishwasher, motherfucker. You would do well to remember that.” This all comes out cold, like the redheaded firecracker I know and love. Love?

She spins on her heel and storms for the exit. Before we get to the door, he asks, “Is that a threat, Ms. Chambers?”

Looking back over her shoulder, she says, “No. It’s a promise.” Then she goes through the door like a blazing fire.

I take her straight to my house, she rides in silence. I can see the anger radiating off of her. Jade can be a total bitch, but she tried to handle this situation with some respect due to the fact that they worked together, but he fucked that all up. She’ll bury his ass now.

Going inside, she slams the door behind us, launching her purse at the couch. “I fucking hate him. He sat through that entire meeting with this smug ass look on his face. I wanted to throat punch him and kick him in the balls.”

“Well, I’m glad you didn’t do that. You’d for sure be fired then.” I chuckle.

She runs at me. I know she’s going to try and take me down, but she can’t. Plus, I know she’s just angry. As she launches at me I grab her, sitting her on the wooden table in the foyer. She tries to fight with me, but she abruptly stops. Grabbing my face, she locks her lips on mine. Reaching down, I grab her pants and panties, snatching them down all at once. She fumbles with my workout pants, shoving them down. Soon, I slam into her. No real foreplay, no petting, no touching, just raw emotion.

She screams out as I enter, but her pussy floods after I’m in. She looks up at me with hooded eyes. “Fuck me like you hate me.” She leans forward and bites my nipple through my shirt. “Because I need to feel anger right now. So fuck me.”

I nod as I slam into her hard, knocking the basket that normally holds my phone and keys off the table. I keep slamming into her. No words pass between us. Her head knocks a picture off the wall behind her. I grab her, pulling her from the table so the picture doesn’t hit her. Once it’s on the floor, I spin her around and bend her onto the table, grabbing a handful of her red hair as she screams out. “Oh fuck!” I can feel her insides quivering against my cock. Letting go of her hair, I reach around and rub her clit with my thumb. I know I’m about to explode so I need her there, too. Taking my drenched thumb, I rub her asshole with it, effectively sliding it in and causing her to almost go into convulsions as she comes. This also being the same time I fill her with warm come. She’s not finished, though, I feel something wet spray down my legs. After I pull out, looking at my now trashed foyer, I laugh. “Did you just piss on my leg?”

“Um no. I squirted,” she says shyly.

I’m dumbfounded. “You squirted? I’ve never made a girl squirt before.” I shake my head. “That’s the hottest fucking thing ever.”

“It’s only happened one other time,” she says, trying to take her shoes off so she can get her pants off her ankles.

I’m pissed. How has this happened but not with me? “Who did it happen with?” I bite out.

She giggles. “Jealous much?” She cocks her hip. “It happened with my vibrator after a very stimulating movie. Hmph. It took a lot longer to accomplish with B.O.B., though.”

I look at her dead serious. “Do you still have your vibrator?”

  She snorts. “Yes.”

“Throw it out. As long as you’re here, I have the biggest dick in this house.” She cracks up. I glare back at her. “My house, my rules and my pussy.”

  CHAPTER 26

  JADE

I am back at work today finally. After Ms. Lucille got through reaming new assholes to about six people at the hospital, including that old lady Gwen, they half ass apologized. Then they assured me that it wouldn’t appear on my employment record anywhere, but suggested that I make sure not to get involved with anyone else at the hospital.

Lucille is definitely a force to be reckoned with. As I close the door to the pharmacy and arm the door, I smile at her. “Thanks again, Lucille. I really like this hospital best, but they kinda pissed me off.”

She shakes her head as she logs off her computer. “Gwen needs to remember that I remember a lot of secrets about the people at this hospital. Like her and a certain Chief Surgeon when we were all younger.” She sighs. “And I hate to say this, because at first I was all for Dr. Jennings, but he started worrying me a little. He seemed a little too possessive over something that wasn’t really his.” She grins. “Now that Gibbs boy, yummy on a stick. If I were forty years younger…”

That makes me bark out a laugh. “Well, I’ll make sure Clay knows he has your vote.”

Glancing down at my watch, I realize I need to get going. “Oh shit. I gotta get to Greene’s to meet him. His friend’s band is playing tonight.” I hug her tight. “Thanks again, Lucille. I knew you had my back.”

She gives me a quick peck on the cheek. “Go get your boy.”

Walking out to my car, I get an uneasy feeling, like someone is watching me. I look around but see nothing. Palming my pepper spray just in case I need it, I make it to my car and climb in. Breathing a sigh of relief, I drive down the streets leading to Greene’s. I got a text earlier that Gia is out of her treatment. Everyone is hopeful that the meds will help keep her on the right track. One of the problems with bi-polar people is that they forget or refuse to take their meds. They feel great and think they don’t need it, then it all crashes around them.

About a block and a half from the bar, my car stalls out, right at the light. “Shit.” I fumble, trying to get it to crank, but no luck. Now people are blowing the horn. “Fuck.” I need to get this car off the road. Shifting it into neutral, I attempt push the car to an open parking lot. As I’m about finished, I hear a familiar voice behind me.

“Need some help?” I turn to see Gavin. He puts up his hands. “I just wanna help, I’d like to get home.”

I groan. “Fine, I have somewhere I need to be and it’s not with you.” He pushes as I steer the car into the parking lot.

Once we’re finished, he asks me, “Where are you going?”

“Greene’s to meet Clay,” I say, trying to goad him a little bit.

  “Would you like a ride?”

“It’s only a couple of blocks. I got it.” I push the lock button on my remote.

As I start down the sidewalk, pepper spray in hand, he pulls up beside me. “Come on, Jade, I’ll just drop you off at the door.”

I look up the road to see two hobo’s fighting over a biscuit or something. Reluctantly, I sigh. “Fine.”

Sliding into his BMW, he speeds off. Once we pull up in front of the bar, I climb out and motion to him. “Thanks for the ride.”

“No Problem. Look, Jade, I’m sorry about the HR stuff. I was just upset. I’m glad it all worked out.” I shut his door and look back.

“Sure, Gavin. Have a good night.” I wave to the bouncer at the door as I make my way in.

I see Clay leaned against a stool talking to none other than Gia. Stomping over to him, I smile then wrap my arms around his neck and lay a kiss to end all kisses on his mouth. I turn back to Gia. “Oh hi, Gia, I didn’t see you there.”

She smiles even though everyone can tell I’m lying. “Oh, no problem. I just stopped by to speak with Gibbs and well, you, too. I’m sorry for everything and I hope we can all work things out.”

Every part of the jealous bitch in me wants to tell her to go the fuck away, and make sure she takes her fucking meds. Something mean and hateful like that, but this is my sister’s family. I can’t. “We can try, Gia. Just know that if I feel like you aren’t taking your meds like you are supposed to, I’ll tell your brothers.”

She nods. “Yes, I understand. Thank you for at least hearing me out.”

  She turns and walks away.

Clay laughs at me. “You got all fucking cat scratch fever on her ass
. I was beginning to think you were going to have me fuck you right here on this table. Or that maybe you were going to piss on my leg or something.”

“Shut up. Plus, these tables are disgusting. I’d never.” Then I remember. “Oh. My car stalled out a couple of blocks away. I had to push it into a parking lot.”

“Why didn’t you call me? I would have come and helped you,” he says, clearly irritated.

“You wouldn’t hear your phone in here, I knew that. You always forget to put it on vibrate, too, so you wouldn’t feel it either,” I say, brushing him off.

“You better not tell me you walked here,” he says flatly. Fuck, I almost did.

“No, actually Gavin stopped. He apologized and helped me move the car, then he dropped me off here. So I guess tonight is a night for exes to say they’re sorry.” I chuckle.

He shakes his head. “I guess so.”

As the band plays, we drink a few beers and dance. I feel my phone buzz at my side.

GAVIN: Sorry you left something in my car. I think you need it. I’m out front now at the end of the parking lot.

ME: Be out there in a second.

I turn to see Clay talking to a friend of his. “Babe, I have to step out for a second. I’ll be right back.”

He nods and I feel him watch me walk to the door. As I step outside, I see his BMW at the end of the parking lot. Approaching his car, he steps out and walks around to the passenger side, opening the door to get whatever it is out.

He stands back up as soon as I reach the door. “I’m sorry, Jade.”

I shrug. “I know. Just hand me whatever it is, I need to get back inside.”

I see someone move, it’s Gia. She looks scared. “Jade, you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m about to go back in.” She nods and walks back toward the bar.

Before I can turn my head back to face him, I feel something on my face. “I’m sorry, Jade.” That’s all I hear before lights out.

  CHAPTER 27

  GIBBS

Gia comes running up to me frantic. “Gibbs!” she says as she slams into me, knocking me into a table.
