Between a Rock and a Hard Place Page 11

"Yeah, why, is that a problem?" She questioned with a raised brow.

She watched as he nibbled his lip, it was his tell. She knew that whatever came out of his mouth next, would be a lie.

"I don’t know, I guess, I just thought that maybe, you and I could hang out today, but it's whatever. I'm sure I can find something else to do…," he finished, by letting out an exaggerated sigh.

Cole was off the couch now, his hands resting on T.J.’s slumped shoulders, giving them both a gentle squeeze.

"It's okay buddy, I'll be here. I, actually like hanging out with you." Cole comforted, giving Penny a ‘how could you be so cruel to this poor child’ look.

Penny sucked her teeth, looking from Cole to her son. Boy, they were sure laying it on thick, the bastards. Well, three could play at this game.

"Oh no, are you sure? I could just cancel and we could all stay here and play Board games like you two did last night. What was it…. oh ya Monopoly, hmm.…, where oh where did that game board go?" She questioned, glancing around the room for the game she knew had never been there.

She watched on with a satisfied, knowing, smirk as both the boy's eyes grew a bit wide.

"No mom, it’s cool, you go, I'll be fine! Cole and I can go fishing or something!" The boy quickly covered, knowing they had been had.

"Oh good: I’m glad we got that worked out. Now, if you’ll both excuse me. I have to go get ready for my day date." she announced with an ‘I won’ smile, before pushing off her chair to make her way down the hall to her bedroom.

"You totally oversold it, ‘maybe we could hang out’, as if dude! She knows, no one wants to hang out with her, she's boring." Cole reminded, giving the back of T.J.s head a gentle little swat before making his way back over to the table, to take his seat.

"Well, obviously someone wants to hang out with her." T.J. pointed out, stabbing at his food with his fork.

"Yeah, probably some loser with a beer gut and a comb over." Cole snarked, hoping it was true but with the way Penny had gone on and on about the douchebag, last night, he doubted that was the case.

"Then why are you always coming over here to hang out? You don’t have a beer gut. Though, your hair is looking a little thinner on top, lately." T.J. teased with a jerky smirk as he pointed to Cole's golden crown.

"Hey, watch it! Cole warned, running his hands through his hair, making sure it was all still there. “Besides, I only come over here so I can hang out with you, not her. She's lame," Cole informed crossing is arms over his chest.

"Oh, so you don’t come over here to hang out with my hot mom?”

  “Nope!” Cole shook his head.

“So, that means you come over here to hang out with her eleven-year-old son. Ya, that's not creepy at all."

"You, just said you had a hot mom. Who's the creepy one now, Half-pint." Cole challenged with the raise of his brow.

"Guess we both are," T.J. shrugged.

“Indeed we are. So, I take it you hadn't told her about the fishing trip, yet?"

"No, but I thought it was a nice touch. She doesn't need to know we’ve been planning it for weeks."

T.J. smiled a wicked grin, leaning in to fist bump Cole.

"Atta boy! Alright, get all your stuff around. We'll head out in a minute. I'm just gonna go tell your mom we’re about to leave out." Cole tossed the words over his shoulder, already heading down the hall toward Penny’s bedroom.

"Jesus, Cole, don’t you ever fucking knock?!" Penny screeched as she spun around fast. Instinctively, her hands tried to block her naughty parts from him but quickly dropped. There was no use in trying to cover up from Cole. He had already seen everything she had to offer, back, front, sideways, and upside down.

"Damn, woman…,” Cole praised before letting out a little whistle, his eyes traveling her body with the look of a territorial beast. “I can tell you this, I'll be sure never to again, not if it gets me the chance to see this little getup." He smirked, making his way over to her.

Penny turned her attention back to the mirror in the corner, giving her panty and matching bra set, one last look over. The black lace panties were delicate, just as delicate as the slinky little bra. Which was doing an incredible job at pushing up her tits, in turn making them look that much bigger than they actually were. Satisfied with the girl in the mirror, she made a move to collect her shorts but was quickly tugged back.

Cole’s muscled arms, circled her waist, holding her in place in the reflection of the mirror. Her tight little ass, colliding with his jean covered cock, had him letting out a little moan as he forced her to lean back, her body pressed tightly to his. Resting his chin on her shoulder, he eyed her in the mirror. Watching as his hands slid up and down, and back and forth, over her bare flesh.

"Cole…," she warned, giving a pointed look through the mirror.

"I’m sorry, my love; I just can’t help myself. Look at you, you’re so fucking sexy.”

Cole whispered the words into her ear, using his sexy southern drawl. The one that always sent a tingle right to her core. His already hardening cock wasn’t helping things any, either, not with the way he was pressing it against her backside.

"You can’t help yourself when it comes to a lot of things, Cole. That’s neither here nor there at this moment, though. Right now, I need to get ready for my date.” She reminded, trying to ignore the tremors he was causing in her thighs.

Damn it, she hated that it was so easy for him to have this kind of effect on her. You would think after all these years it would dim, but no. To this day, she still felt his every touch with full force.

"So…, this little number, is for him, huh? Moving kinda fast aren’t ya? I mean, you just met the guy, last night." Cole rasped the words, letting his lips brush against the sensitive flesh where Penny’s shoulder met her neck. His eyes never left hers in the mirror, as his palm slid down her toned tummy, dipping inside her panties to cup her her soft folds.

"Not even a little. I’m not moving fast or slow. A girl’s gotta wear undies, don’t she? It just so happens, that these ones, look pretty damn hot on me. Maybe I just wanted to feel sexy, for a change." She admitted, disgusted with the tone of her voice and with the little moan that escaped her lips. Cole’s fingertips where doing the most delightful thing to the little bundle of nerves that sat oystered inside her folds.

"For a change? Please, woman, you’re sexy as fuck, every, damn, minute of the day.” Cole informed, dipping his digits into her warmth. “Is that for him or for me?” He smirked, hearing her suck in a deep breath as he buried his digits right to the knuckle.

"Fuck Cole, please stop..," she pleaded, her heart racing as he worked her body over. She wanted to push him away. She knew she should, but damn, did that man ever know, just what to do with his fingers to make her loose, almost, all of her resolve.

"I love it when you say, please," He moaned the words while using his free hand to grip her jaw, forcing her head to turn enough so that he could capture her lips. He swallowed her moans, double-timing his hand game. He knew he didn't have long, so he wanted her to get there as fast as possible. “I want you to watch,” he purred. Releasing her lips as he turned her chin until her eyes locked back on the mirror before them.

Chewing on her lip, Penny ground on Coles' hand, her breaths coming fast and heavy. Dripping wet and slick, his fingers pounded into her, just the way she liked. She was close, he could already feel her tight walls stating to tremble. By the look on her twisted up features, she was about to erupt.

"I hope, you have a great day, my love. We gotta head out, I’ll catch you later.” Cole stopped all movement to inform, just as Penny was ready to break through the finish line, in her orgasm race.

A strangled breath, escaped her lips, as her eyes went wide.

"What, wait, fuck!" She gasped, turning around fast, only to find him already heading toward the door.

"Oh, by the way, “ Cole spoke up, turning his attention back to Penny “day dates, are a fucking
joke. Your new man, sounds like a real tool, if you ask me, my love."

He finished, by giving her a sure look, then slamming the door behind himself, leaving her all alone, to glare at the wood.

  Chapter 8

“H oly shit, I am so freaking in love with this bike!" Penny exclaimed, tugging her head free of the helmet, Able had lent her.

"I can't believe you've never rode before. That’s crazy, I’ve been riding ever since I was a kid. I love everything about it.” Able said with a dreamy smile. “It’s amazing, because once you put that helmet on, it’s like you just kind of vanish. Nobody knows who’s really under there. It allows you to just blend in with the world around you, and the people in it. It’s so freeing.”

"I guess I just haven't lived, it's amazing now that I have, though. I can see how you’re gonna be hard to give up.” Penny halted her words, her eyes going a bit wide. She hadn’t meant for that to come out. “Um, I mean, riding bikes, that is. It’ll suck that I won’t be able to ride anymore, once you’re gone.” Penny stumbled over her words.

She had meant to say that she loved bikes, and that, she understood it would suck if he couldn’t ride, simple really. But no, that’s not what came out of her mouth. Instead, she said exactly what her silly brain was thinking. Like for instance, she already knew that it was gonna be hard to let Able go when the time came.

The fact that their time together, right from the start, was being counted down, like a ticking time bomb of disappointment, sucked. It weighed heavy on her but she refused to let it ruin the day.

“Anyway, sorry if I was holding you a bit tight. Not even gonna lie. I was kind of nervous, at first" She fretted, with a sheepish grin as she tried to pat down her horrid helmet hair.

"Trust me, there is no such thing as, too tight." Able challenged, throwing her a wink and a sultry smirk.

He loved that her cheeks flushed red. He could already tell she wasn't the kind of woman who usually blushed. The fact that he could pull the color to her, made him a happy man.

He had picked her up an hour ago, and they had been riding down the California coast ever since. He was a little surprised, though, when he went to collect her. For some reason, he had pictured her living in a nicer part of town. It was none of his business where she chose to dwell, but he just didn't like the looks of the area or the people that hung around her building. The fact that she lived there with her son alone, didn't sit well with him, either.

"So, why did we stop?' Penny questioned, eyeing the empty stretch of beach they were parked beside.

"I thought it was a good time to grab some lunch." He informed, reaching into his saddle bag.

"Okay, but where? I don’t think there's anything down this far."

"No worries, I came prepared. I hope you like Lunchable’s" Able smiled wide as he pulled, two, out for her inspection.

"Oh my goodness! I haven't seen those things in years! My son Trent, he used to love them. I guess he's too cool for them, now."

"Yeah, I saw them when I was at the gas station, filling up, and I don’t know, I just couldn't help myself." Able offered, pulling her hand into his.

That little boy smile that he wore on his lips was making Penny feel dizzy. She had to look away, choosing instead, to allow her eyes to travel over the shoreline.

"It's so peaceful here; I haven't been to the beach in ages.” She admitted, watching as the small waves rolled in across the horizon.

It was a beautiful day, and being out in it, had her realizing that it had been, way too freaking long, since she had spent a day out in the sun.

She was glad that she had gone with shorts and a tank top, this morning when she was getting dressed. It was mid-afternoon now, and the weather was absolutely beautiful. Able had scolded her about the shorts, saying they shouldn’t be worn while riding because they didn’t offer any real protection in case of a spill. A good point that went out the window when she gave him her puppy dog eyes, and pouted out her lip. So, of course, he had eventually given in on the shorts but had stood firm, that she absolutely had to wear her beater boots. He went on about, him, not wanting her to burn her ankles on the exhaust, but she was pretty sure, he just wanted to see her in them, again. The little weirdo. She was kicked out of them now, though. Enjoying the sand beneath her feet. Able had joined her and together they sat, just inches apart, on a small blanket that he had untied from the back of his bike role. Penny noted, that for a guy, he had really cute feet. She was happy about that. Feet tended to freak her out, but his feet, seemed to be just like the rest of him, perfect.

"You live in Cali and you never go to the beach, what gives?" Able questioned, peeling back the cover on one of the Lunchable’s.

"I know, right, but I work mostly nights, so I sleep a lot during the day. It sucks too, because I miss out on a lot." Penny spoke with a tinge of regret in her tone, watching as he removed the lid on the second, Lunchable.

“That blows, Babe! Life’s too damn short to miss out on any of it if you ask me. Turkey or ham?" He questioned, holding both options out to her.

"Half and half?" She challenged, raising a brow.

When she gave a giggle at his confused look, Able, noted that he loved the sound. It went great with that goofy grin of hers, the one that he was quickly becoming, more than a little, obsessed with seeing.

Seeming to take pity on him, she snatched the snack packs. Sorting them out until they each had half turkey half ham, then she passed them back his way, with a wink and a smirk on her lips.

"Oh, I see, smart girl, I like it!” Able praised with a nod before leaning into her, his voice going serious. “But, now we come down to the real dilemma, of who gets the Snickers, and who get's the M&M'S?"

“You can have all of the M&M’s, except for the blue ones, those are mine, and I want half the snickers, deal?" She challenged, sticking out her hand to be shaken, if, he accepted the offer.

"That’s a hard bargain you drive lady, but I can deal, so long as you promise to tell me why it is you only eat the blue ones?” He upped the bid, his hand coming up but not yet accepting hers.

"Deal,” she nodded, gripping his hand in hers. God damn the man had some meaty mitts. Hers seemed so small wrapped up in his. “And, I only eat the blue ones because, duh, those are the best ones." She informed in a tone that almost, made it sound logical.

"I'm pretty sure, they all taste exactly the same." Able mused, sucking from the little juice box in his hand.

Watching such a large, hard looking man, drink from a little juice box, was beyond captivating to Penny. She couldn't stop from grinning as she challenged his candy sense.

"Lies! Trust me, the blue ones are the best! I would say, try and see, but that would mean I’d have to share my blues with you, and I'm sorry Sir, but that’s just not gonna happen today." She stated with a coy smile pasted to her lips as she snatched the bag of M&M’s from his lap.

"Ya know, it’s not very nice of you not to share.” Able pretended to sulk as he leaned over nudging her shoulder with his.

"Who ever said I was nice?" She returned, ripping the bag open with her teeth.

"I could just take them from you, there’s always that option." He warned, eyeing the miniature bag of chocolate treats.

"Oh, you think so, huh?" She challenged, locking eyes with him.

The ocean had nothing on the color of the orbs Able was rocking, fucking breathtaking, add to that the ‘ting you in the panties’, smile and Penny was done for.

He was such a puzzle. Here he set, this insanely attractive man, yet he didn't seem to have a clue of the way he looked. He wasn't cocky or stuck on himself. Cole had a bad habit of knowing, just how damn pretty, he was. His all-American, boy next door features had got him everything in life, including any woman he had ever taken a shine to. Cole loved, using his looks to get what he wanted out of the opposite sex. From having a one night stand to wasting their entire lives on him. But Able, he wasn’t like that or at least it didn’t seem like he w
as. Honestly, he seemed oblivious to all his charms. Which, just made him that much more charming in nature.

"I do think so, in fact…," he teased, lunging for Penny, just as she jumped up, leaving him to land chest first on the blanket.

"You gotta be faster than that, big boy!" She taunted, holding up the M&M prize in her outstretched hand.

"You, are so done for, little girl. Here I come!" He playfully threatened as he jumped to his feet, taking chase after her.

Penny made good at zig-zagging, just enough, to stay out of his reach. Able hung back, allowing her to think she was getting the better of him, right up until he zigged when she did, capturing her waist and yanking her into his, more than capable, arms. Then, the spinning started in.

"Oh God, no more, I give, I give!" She giggled as he finally allowed her feet to touch back down on the sand. One last spin and she was facing him again. "I haven't been this dizzy in years." She laughed, her eyes still trying to focus in on his.

"Here, let me help you out with that."

Able had rasped the words and then, just like that, his kiss was on her lips, his hands cupping her jaw to gently hold her in place.

Her lips were just as soft as he had guessed they would be. She tasted like fruit punch. He could feel her palms pressed flat against his chest but she wasn't pushing him away, so, he carried on in his exploration of her. He had already located a pulse point of hers, situated right underneath where his palm was stroking her neck. He enjoyed feeling it race as he deepened the kiss.

She let him lead, allowing him all control. He liked that. He had a lot of personal hang-ups when it came to the topic of control. Also, when it came to the topic of women and relationships. He usually stayed away from dating or anything longer than a one night stand, for that matter. Most women that he came into contact with, only seemed to be interested in his celebrity status. They either wanted his help to make them a star or they were a fan who just wanted him to be the guy they had seen on TV or in the movies. He always felt like he had to pretend to be someone else in order to make them happy. They had no interest in who he really was as a person.
