“It’s not a problem. It’s my job Dear to make sure that you are comfortable.” Fiona concluded.

I felt lucky to have a nurse as attentive as Fiona.

  XXX

  TIM

When Tianna and I arrived at the hospital, we immediately went to the receptionist to inquire about Nile. I could have gone to her room, but I did not want to walk in the room blinded. I did

not know if Nie’s condition had improved or had

taken the turn for the worst.

“Hello I am Tim Greg, and I would like to find out about my sister Nile Greg’s condition.” I declared.

The receptionist smiled as she checked the computer.

“Mr. Greg your sister is now awake. She is in satisfactory condition. I think that the nurse could go more in-depth with details on her condition.” The receptionist politely informed me.

  “Thanks, ma’am!” I replied.

I was too hyped. I knew the Lord was going to perform one of his miraculous acts.

“Hallelujah!” I screeched as I jumped up and down. I swooped Tianna up in my arms and tossed her in the air.

“Put me down, Timmy! People are staring!” Tianna shrieked.

I did not give a damn about nobody looking. I was happy that my sister was still among the living. Nile was a brat, but I did not want to live my life without her. I put Tianna down, and we rushed into her room.

  “Timmy!” Nile screamed

“Hey Nile. How are you, big sis?” I uttered.

The sight of the tubes and machines knocked my high down a notch or two. I hated to see that Nile was still in bad shape. I knew that in time all

things that were wrong would heal. I just had to keep my head up.

“I think I have been better. I am starving, and I want out of this place.” Nile squeaked.

“Ah sis you will be busting out of this place in due timing,” I assured Nile.

“Who’s that?” Nile pointed at Tianna.

“Sis this is my new wife, Tianna,” I revealed.

“Hello, Tianna. It’s nice to finally meet you. I wished that it was under better circumstances.” Nile sighed.

“It’s quite okay. I am just grateful to see that you are awake and functioning better.” Tianna admitted.

“Thank you, Tianna. As soon as I am released, we must have lunch. I really want to get to know you. I am so happy to have a little sister that I can pester.” The Nile teased.

“Tim you did not tell me that Nile was a comedian. She is hilarious.” Tianna giggled.

“Tim I can tell that Tianna will be besties,” Nile replied.

“That’s good because I have no friends,” Tianna said in a shy voice.

“Not true! I am your friend.” Nile stuttered.

“Right. I almost forgot.” Tianna whispered.

“So what’s on your agenda today guys?” Nile

  probed.

“We were just stopping in to see how you were doing before we head back home. I have work and Tianna has school tomorrow.” I mentioned.

“Oh, Tianna are you still in High School?” Nile questioned.

“Yes this is my Junior year, but I am graduating hopefully in June. I will be so glad to get away from those kids. They are so immature.” Tianna grimaced.

“I remember how that was. It really irked me.” Nile agreed with Tianna.

“It won’t be much of a challenge because I am transferring Tianna to a private school for gifted students in the morning. I don't think that my wife needs to be surrounded by peers that don’t have the same goals as she does. At least at the new school, everyone is focused on graduating.” I insisted.

“Yeah Tim that sounds like that would be great.” Nile concurred.

“Nile I need you to get better. I need my bestie to plan my graduation party!” Tianna emphasized.

“Sis I am going to be twerking and doing the electric slide at your party. Please don’t worry about me I am going to be okay. Tianna just

focused on your studies. Shine, mom and I will

  handle everything else.” Nile ordered.

  “Will do,” Tianna told Nile.

I had not noticed this beautiful white nurse who was lounging in the room. She was chilling like a villain.

“Hello. I am Timothy Greg. May I asked why are you here?” I spluttered.

“I am Fiona one of the nurse’s. I am here to make sure that Nile does not overexert herself. We don’t need her having any setbacks. She is doing damn well for someone who was shot just yesterday.” Fiona praised.

“Yes! Nile has a lot of people praying for a speedy recovery. There is strength in numbers. Our family has always believed prayer being our motivation in life.” Tim revealed.

“Yes Tim remembers how Granny Greg used to bring the entire clan to the altar at church and we would be praying for an hour.” Nile recounted.

“Yes and we would say Amen and look around, and the whole church family was gone but us.” I spat.

  Nile giggled.

“I remember, but it was those prayers that kept the family together.’ Nile admitted.

“I believe so as well,” I replied as I clasped my hands together.

  CHAPTER 23

  TIANNA

Nile seemed to be a beautiful person. I just think that some people get a bad reputation because of the company that they keep. Hey, maybe this why you are not supposed to judge a book by its cover. Hmm.

I was deep in thought when Kandra and Peter entered the hospital room with flowers and balloons. The look on Nile’s face showed nothing but pure gratefulness. I thought it was such a blessing to be apart of this family. The devotion was incredible.

  “Hello everyone!” Kandra cried out.

“Hey, mom and pop,” Tim replied.

“Hey, there ma,” I called out to her and waved to Peter.

“Don’t stand there. Tianna come bless me with some love.” Kandra squealed in delight.

“Aww, Kandra please leave that child alone.” Peter stammered.

“I want this child to feel apart of the family. She’s carrying my future grandbaby!” Kandra pressed.

  “I am what?” I blurted.

I was taken by surprised by Kandra’s words.

“I dreamed of fish. And everybody knows what that means?” Kandra continued to babble.

I stood there frazzled. I did not think what Kandra was saying was appropriate at all. We were at the hospital visiting her daughter who was shot last night by an deranged bitch.

“I am lost. Tim, what in the heck is your mom talking about?” I shrieked.

Everyone looked at me. I guessed I caused a pretty big scene. Kandra was holding her purse to her chest looking crazy as a bat out of hell.

“Calm down baby,” Tim whispered as he consoled me.

“Tim I can’t be pressured to have a baby right now. I am trying to finish school.” I pleaded.

“Tianna we discussed this last night. If you happened to be pregnant, we would figure it out. As for Mom, she believes in old wives tales. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you are carrying my baby.” Tim retorted.

“Tianna relax. Kandra is just jumping the gun and running off at the mouth!” Peter ranted.

He gave Kandra a dirty look.

“Tianna just make Timothy wrap that thing up. Get yourself some BC’s.” Nile advised.

  “BC’s?’’ I repeated alarmed.

I was lost. What the fuck are BC’s? I thought. Great now I am looking stupid as fuck in front of Tim’s family.

“Tianna BC’s are birth control pills. Please know your options. I am here to talk with you later. Right now is not the right time. This is a personal choice.” Nile offered.

“Cool, I will make sure that I call you,” I said relieved.

There was silence for a while.

“Mom please stay off Tianna’s back. I am sure she and Tim know what they are doing.” Nile added.

“I did not mean anything by it!” Kandra angrily blurted.

“Honey sometimes you say and do too much.” Peter disagreed.

“Okay, guys! I did not mean to cause a rift in the family. I will see you all the next time I am in town.” I sadly uttered as I walked out to the hall.

  “Tianna!” Tim yelled.

  I turned back.

  “Please wait!” He begged.

My husband had a look on his face that I never saw before. I feel like he thought he had to choose between them and me. It really wasn’t that way at all.

“Tim spend time with your family. I would never take you away from them.” I responded as I walked back to kiss him.

“Kandra look at what you did!” Peter scolded at

  Kandra.

I was over the bull shit.

“It’s not my fault that her mama did not teach her about birth control!” Kandra howled.

I stopped in my tracks. I was heated. Who in the hell did Kandra think she was referring to? I glared at my husband and looked around the hospital

room. All that I could see was red. I was not a

disrespectful person, but I had had it with Timothy’s mother.

“Mama stop being so rude!” Nile defended me.

The door of the room opened and in walked Shine and Devin. It was too late to stop my words from running from my mouth. I was now a loose cannon.

I walked up to Kandra and pointed my finger at her face. Right now I was a force to be reckoned with. How could someone Kandra’s age act like a complete idiot for no apparent reason?

“Honey please calm down!” Tim yelled at me.

I just blocked his ass out. He owed his mama respect. I did not owe Kandra’s ass shit. I needed to clarify some things now so that there would not be any more issues concerning my children in the future or me. I am not about to allow anyone to do

me any kind of fucking way. I had dealt with Antoinette’s shit long enough, and I was not

accepting no more shit from anyone. The only

person that I owed respect to was my husband. I am going to be riding with his ass until the wheels fall off. So fuck everybody’s feelings but his.

“How dare you talk about my mother like you know her or me! My mother is deceased.

I was not blessed to have her raise me like your children were to have you. My mother died in the hospital as she birthed me! I would appreciate it if you kept your mouth off my mother and myself. You have been warned. I won’t be held responsible for what I may do in the future if you say something fucked up to me or about me again. I am not your child, and that’s cool. I am Tim’s wife, and that’s my role. I am not here to make threats, but I am not here to take shit off of anyone either!” I piped.

Kandra was now standing in tears. She tried to embrace me, but I pulled away. I have dealt with to many phony ass people in my life to last me a

lifetime. I did not need her fake ass apology or

love. She could miss me with that.

“She’s right mom. You should have never gone there with my wife.” Tim said as he stood by my side.

“What is going on in here?” Shine growled.

“Nothing sunshine. Tianna handled the situation

very well. You know your mother is always starting shit.” Peter told Shine.

“I see that I am not welcome or wanted here. You going to side with your wife. Why side with her over me Tim over me?” Kandra whimpered.

I couldn’t believe this woman who should be acting as a role model for me was basically acting like a fucking lunatic. As she tries to play the victim.

I thought about how Tim said we could move here to get help with our child if I were pregnant. That will never happen. I would rather relocate to East Bubba Fuck and die than to subject myself to this foolishness. I am not fucking with Kandra like that.

“Mom there is a time when a man must cleave to his wife. I am supposed to make my wife happy. I can’t side with you mom when I know that you were wrong.” Tim said gracefully.

  “Tim is right.” Devin approved.

  “Yes, he is!” Peter agreed.

“Tim I will be waiting for you in the lobby. Take your time.” I insisted.

“Tianna I will call you soon. Don’t take any of this crap to the head. Keep your head up, little sis.” Nile quickly said.

“Thanks, Nile. Have a great recovery.” I said in a low voice.

I sat in the waiting area for a while. It took everything in me not to cry. I tried not to sweat the small stuff because Kandra was a small thing to a giant. I knew my worth and where I was going. I was striving to become a better me and not a deranged bitch like the women who keep popping up in my life. My Hubby did not come right out, so I took a walk to the cafeteria. On my way there I found the Olive Garden. I decided to order myself a meal. I searched the menu and decided on Chicken Alfredo and a Ceasar Salad with a small drink. I was starving.

I decided to dine in, so I shot my hubby a text. I did not want him worrying about me. I drank some of my soda while waiting to be served. The breadsticks were amazing.

  Tim text back.

“Okay baby. I saw that you were not out there. I just thought that you went to the restroom. I will say my goodbyes and meet you in a few moments I am starved too. It’s been a long day. I love you bae, and I will see you shortly. Oh please order me whatever you are eating so my meal won’t be delayed much longer.” Tim texted.

“Ok boo. I love you too.” I texted back.

I was thrilled that Tim wanted to join me for a meal. Things were looking up, and I hoped that he

wouldn’t be angry or judged for going off on his mom. It really was not my intentions. I felt terrible but then again didn’t I thought the bitch got what she deserved.

  XXX

  ANTOINETTE

I had not heard anything from Tianna, so I decided to pay the undertaker a visit. I thought it was high time that I take some matters into my own hands concerning Duke. I really wanted to see his body and say my final goodbyes. Tianna had made it very clear that she did not want me anywhere near the Home Going Services. I was not going to press my luck seeing how Tianna had become very unpredictable lately.

“I am so fucking pissed. How could Tianna have had Duke cremated? He was the greatest love of my life. I never got a chance to say goodbye. Wait until I get my hands on that ungrateful hussy. I can’t believe this bullshit!” I bellowed into n the phone.

I threw my shot glass filled with Barcardi against the wall. I was fuming with anger.

“Bitch will you calm the fuck down! I am on my way. I am only two shakes away.” Vera commanded.

“It just hurts so bad. My life has been completely torn apart. My man was deceased. My lover got beat the fuck up!

I spent my best years raising Tianna, and she has no respect for me. I should have drowned her little dusty ass in the tub when I had a fucking chance. If it weren’t for the little bitch, I would be a millionaire!” I wailed.

I was so disgusted with myself. I was disgusted with my life, and I wanted to strangle Tianna’s ass. The little whore has always come between Duke and me in some way. First, it was her conception and now with the got damn insurance money.

I thought Duke loved me. I guess we just liked to fuck each other.

“Bitch you ain’t never lied. Your ass would have been sitting pretty and shit like that on the way to Bermuda!” Vera retorted.

“I would be on a First Cass flight sitting by a window with my mixed drink in hand. I would also be getting my toes sucked by a male attendant.” I imagined.

“Antoinette your ass is crazy as a fucking bed bug. None of that shit is possible right now but never say never though. It is what it is. There is not a damn thing that we can do to change things.”

  Vera muttered.

  “I know! I know!” I wept.

“Stop all that damn crying. Real bitches don’t cry. We make a plan and maximize that motherfucker. Now bitch open up the god damn door!” Vera spat.

  Vera sounded like she was
panting. Let me find out her old ass was running. I giggled. Oooo that shit tickled me to death.

“What’s so damn funny with your nappy headed ass?” Vera growled.

“What? Ohh nothing! I am coming trick.” I grunted.

I am not too sure what the fuck Vera was speaking on, but I wanted to cry me a river baby. I am going to take her little advice for now. I am going to pour myself another drink and smoke some weed and chill. If Vera doesn’t have a plan that sounds good to be maximized, I am going to curl in a ball in front of her ass and cry some more.

I opened the door, and sure enough, Vera was running up the street. She was now near the house. She ran faster. I didn’t know that her fat ass could run so fast. Vera was now at the stoop.

“Trick what are you doing all of that damn

running for? Your ass trying to pass the fuck out

in all of this damn heat.” I pestered.

“Fuck no! I was trying to hurry my ass to your

house. I did not want your dumb ass to do

anything stupid!” Vera yelled at me as she wiped the sweat that was pouring from her head.

Damn, she looked fried. I giggled to myself.

“Bring your ass on in here before your old ass has a heatstroke. I will fetch your ass some cold water.” I advised my bestie.

The bitch did not deserve shit. Damn dummy out here running in ninety-degree weather and shit.

“I don’t want no fucking water. I want an ice cold beer.” Vera ordered.

“Okay, one ice cold beer coming up for your crabby ass!” I roared.

I walked into the kitchen and grabbed two Bud Lights. I prepared some fried chicken and potato salad because everytime the bitch came over she was starving.

I carried the food and beers into the dining area where Vera was already rolling the blunts. I placed the beer and food in front of her.

  “Thanks, bitch,” Vera uttered.

“You are welcome fat ass,” I mumbled.

“Shut the fuck up and hit this blunt!” Vera cackled.

I took that as an order. I was ready like a pimp who was about to pounce on his hoe about fucking up his money. I was about to smoke all of Vera’s shit up.

  CHAPTER 24

  VERA

“Chile your potato salad is slamming. I ain’t ate shit all day. You have got to show me how to make this potato salad for me and my man’s anniversary in July. I am going to throw a big ass party. I am going to make sure that I have some nigga who ain’t got a woman there just for you. It’s going to be about time for you to get your fuck on.” I nagged Antoinette.
