  “You? How is that possible?”

Shaking his head, Jax poured another shot of vodka. It was starting to make his head spin. If he didn’t start watering the shots down, he was going to end up passing out.

“I guess because I’m the common factor between Brianna Jaynes and Jessica. They’re forgetting that Sarah is also a common factor.”

Brooke gazed at the photo of Sarah that Jax had taken while she had been following him one night. She was indeed a very attractive woman.

  And a dangerous one.

The thought that her boyfriend had fucked this deranged woman revolted her. She wished she and Jax had never broken up. Thinking back, Brooke couldn’t really pinpoint exactly when she’d decided to end things with him. He had always been a great guy, kind and loving, but dark and dangerous too.

  The rugged Marine.

  Until his accident.

She guessed that the accident had been the turning point for her. Not that being with a handicapped man had been a problem for her. She loved Jax regardless of his ability to walk, but they had been a very active couple prior to his deployment.

Not to mention how hot he’d been in bed. Brooke felt herself melting every time she recalled all their passionate times.

With his hand trailing up her firm thigh, Jax felt himself grow harder and harder. Her firm breasts were nearly bursting through her tight top. She wore a short skirt with skimpy panties beneath. Her long hair was bound in low pigtails. Brooke pressed her breasts against his arm.

“Hey, aren’t you supposed to be my daughter’s babysitter? I can’t be doing this with you.” Jax complained trying not to smile and ruin the role play.

Brooke grinned and twirled her hair around her finger.

“Yes, but I’ve noticed how you’ve been looking at me. I can’t help but wonder how much fun we could have together.”

“We could, couldn’t we? But I don’t think it would be right. You’re here to watch my daughter.” Jax leaned closer to her tracing a finger lightly over her breasts.

  “But she’s asleep.”

“Well, my wife is due home any moment now. I don’t think she’d be very happy to find us fucking.”

“Perhaps she could join in.” Brooke grinned devilishly.

“You’d like that, wouldn’t you? You dirty little slut.” Jax slapped her thigh.

“Oh, let me turn over for that.”

Brooke turned around and perked her ass up in the air at him.

Jax stood up and ran his hands over her. Pulling her panties tight between her legs, he rubbed his finger lightly between her lips.

  “How does that feel, baby?”

“Mmmm, so good. Please keep doing that.”

Jax stroked her pussy through her panties feeling how wet she was. His cock raged at him poking through his jeans.

Her firm flesh was so inviting. He slapped a hand down hard against her ass loving the smacking sound it made.

“More, please!” Brooke begged wiggling her ass at him.

Again, and again, Jax spanked her until her ass glowed bright red at him. When he was finished, he rubbed his hand lightly over her sore flesh trying to remove some of the sting of the whipping.

“Turn over and spread your legs,” he growled.

Eagerly, Brooke turned over lying on her back in the bed. Jax yanked her panties down and tossed them to the side. Her tits burst over the top of her bra the nipples firm and pink.

“Now I want you to take your right hand and stroke your pussy with it. Then I want to see you finger yourself slowly at first then faster.”

She grinned as she laid back drawing her hand across her hairless pussy. She parted her lips as Jax knelt on the bed, so that he could watch her close up.

Her fingers glided over her wetness. Her eyes closed tightly as she ground her hips down onto the bed. Her fingers rubbed against her clit until it grew more and more swollen. Her juices were dripping from her sweet hole as she plunged her fingers deep inside herself. Over and over again, she pumped her fingers inside her pussy. Jax watched feeling himself grow even more excited as she fucked her own sweet cunt. Her body tensed, her nipples grew harder, as she rode towards her climax. He sat transfixed as she began moaning with pleasure.

Suddenly, her hips rose off the bed her legs tightened as she cried out loudly. Jax drew even closer to her to see her juices pour from her pussy as she came. He could even see her pussy pulsating with orgasm. Taking her hands away, he brought his tongue to her quivering clit. Sucking her lips into his mouth, he savored the taste of her delicious sweetness. Brooke tugged on her nipples as he lapped at her pussy. Moving his face side to side, he bathed himself in her juices.

Finally, he could take it no longer. Jax stood up and yanked off his pants. His cock was so hard it was pointing up. Brooke gripped it in her hands relishing the feel of his erection.

Pushing her back onto the mattress, Jax took her tits squeezing them, loving how big and full they were. His thumbs tugged on her nipples milking them. She moaned as she brought her lips to his. Their mouths met over and over again, their tongues softly probing each other.

“Fuck me,” she whispered, her tongue softly licking his ear.

Jax melted as he always did when her tongue dove into his ear. Without hesitation, his cock plunged forward sinking deep into her tight wetness. He groaned as he began driving his cock in and out of her.

Brooke dug her long fingernails into his back as she reveled in the feeling of his cock deep inside her. She could feel every inch filling her. Wrapping her legs tightly around his waist, she rolled her head from side to side as he pumped his cock into her.

She felt him jerking deep inside her filling her with his cum. She moaned with pleasure as she came feeling herself pulsating around his cock.

God, they had been such a hot couple then.

And still were, Brooke thought winking at him.

Just then, Brooke was shaken from her reverie by Jax’s phone ringing, Jax pulled it out of his pocket. It was a text from Jim Sanders, his PI.

I think I’ve found your Sarah Bender. Check out this profile on Facebook. Is this her?

“What is it?” Brooke asked as Jax snapped his fingers.

“Jim! He’s found Sarah. Look at this!”

Together Jax and Brooke clicked on the link Jim provided.

“That’s her,” Jax whispered his breath catching in his throat. The woman in the Facebook profile was definitely the Sarah he knew in a photo taken just a few years ago.

  Her name was Chelsea Goldstein.

“Chelsea Goldstein? Wow.” Brooke scanned through the photos which showed her in various poses with friends. She looked happy, normal.

  Certainly not a crazed stalker.

“It says she went to NYU. She has a degree in English. Her life looks---“

“---totally normal. I agree.” Jax kept scrolling through her timeline. Chelsea/Sarah had had boyfriends, attended concerts, weddings, all the things that a normal thirty something woman would do.

But there was something odd about her timeline. It seemed as though her happiness faded in the more recent photos. Her last post was seven months ago.

It was a photo of her holding one of his books!

“Just got a signed paperback from the sexiest writer ever, Jax Paulson!” The caption read.

“My God, Jax, look at all these posts about your books. Seems like she read every one of them.”

They scrolled through all the posts she’d made about Jax. She praised his work as ‘spiritual’ and ‘God-like’.

  “She’s obsessed!” Brooke gasped.

“Do you think?” Jax muttered as fear began building within him.

The day of Jessica’s funeral was cold and gray. A fine mixture of freezing rain and snow descended like a dark blanket over the valley making the day even more depressing. As Jax and Brooke walked away from the gravesite, Allie caught up with them.

“Jax, how are you doing?” She held a black umbrell
a over her head. Her husband, Tyler was standing beside her with his arm around her shoulder.

“As good as can be expected.” Jax gazed around at the small group who’d come to the gravesite ceremony.

Allie nodded. Some small white flakes clung to her dark hair.

“I heard that the detectives were brutal with you. Did you tell them all about Sarah?”

Jax nodded. Brooke sneezed into a Kleenex shivering from the cold.

“Hopefully, they can put an end to all this. I also wanted to tell you how sorry I am, Jax.” Allie shivered in her thick black coat. Her husband took the umbrella from her and held it over her head. The wind howled as it whipped ferociously through the air.

  “Sorry?”

“Yes, because I’m the one who suggested you go with Jessica as your publicist when she first approached you.”

“I don’t get it. Jessica is---was a fabulous publicist.” Jax searched through his pockets for a Kleenex.

“I know that, but she’s the one who hooked you with Sarah. If I put you in any kind of danger, I’m so sorry. If Sarah does anything----“Allie trailed off.

“She won’t. My PI discovered who she really is.”

Allie’s brown eyes widened. Her husband hovered close to her. The cold was biting through their thick coats.

“Her name is Chelsea Goldstein. She’s from New York.”

  Allie’s mouth fell open.

“Do you know anything else about her?”

Jax and Brooke both shook their heads. Brooke started stomping her feet to warm them.

  “We’re working on it.”

“Have you seen her recently?” They all turned their heads scanning the dispersing crowd.

  “No, I haven’t. I expect she’s lying low.”

“Do you think she could’ve killed Jessica?” Allie whispered.

“I’m not sure, but I think it’s a definite possibility.”

“Allie, we need to go. I’m freezing!” Tyler huddled in his coat.

“Of course. Jax, keep me informed. Stay safe. Maybe you should get a hotel room for a while until all this is resolved.”

“I told him that too, Allie.” Brooke nodded. Her cheeks were bright pink from the cold.

  “I’ll let you know.”

As Allie and Tyler walked away, Jax felt an impending sense of doom lurking around him. What if the only reason Jessica was dead was because of him? He shivered as they walked towards the car.

“Jax, I agree with Allie. We need to go to a hotel. I don’t think we’re safe at your house.”

Jax nodded as they got into the car. Shoving the keys into the ignition, the engine roared as he turned the heat on.

“Sarah, I mean Chelsea, is quite resourceful. She could be watching us now for all we know. If we go to a hotel, who’s to say she won’t follow us?”

Brooke shuddered at the thought. She felt tears building like a dam beneath her lids.

  “Brooke, why are you crying?”

  “I’m scared, Jax.”

  Chapter 19

The light freezing rain quickly developed into a major snowstorm which was unusual for this time of year. As the snow began piling up outside her window, Chelsea admired how beautiful it looked with the moonlight making it sparkle like diamonds.

Drawing her knees to her chest, Chelsea thought about Jessica. The way her eyes widened in terror when she realized just who Chelsea was. She snickered at the memory. That fucking bitch thought she’d been so high and mighty when she fired her. What did she think now?

  Nothing!

Chelsea sighed realizing her time was short. The voices hounded her mercilessly, rarely giving her any peace, even when she slept. She was downing pills by the handful just to fall asleep, but even in her dreams the voices told her to watch Jax.

Watch him every minute, every second.

  He’s evil.

She shook her head as if to clear it. She loathed thinking that the man she’d so admired was evil. His writing had spoken to her, moved her in a deep and profound way.

And now it was almost over.

Glancing at the clock, she saw it was well past 3 AM. The voices raged at her to go find Jax, but she ignored them. It would be akin to suicide to try and drive in this storm.

Not that she wouldn’t welcome death because at this point she would.

At this moment, she would fall into bed with death anxious for relief from the voices.

The cold was seeping into her bones. She shivered as she pulled the blanket around her. Chelsea loved the cold weather, but even this was too much for her. She flipped the switch to turn on the gas fireplace. Even though it didn’t put out much heat just looking at it warmed her. Soon, she felt herself drifting off to sleep.

As the first light of dawn approached, Chelsea knew what she had to do. The voices had told her everything. She yanked on a heavy fisherman’s sweater and a pair of jeans. Shoving her feet into some black leather boots, she was ready to go find Jax.

  Chapter 20

Throwing the last of the suitcases into the trunk, Jax ushered Brooke out to the car. They weren’t going to stay in his house one more minute, not after what happened last night.

Chelsea had officially crossed the line last night.

Brooke had been out shopping for groceries when a familiar face was seen watching her.

A woman with long brown hair peered around the corner at her.

At first, Brooke thought she was just being paranoid, but something about the woman unnerved her.

That’s when she saw her face.

Brooke’s eyes met Chelsea’s. She felt Chelsea stare through her as if she were made of glass. Chills went up her spine as she stood there paralyzed with fear. Shoppers were moving all around them, but Brooke felt as though they were all alone in the huge store.

Her eyes, my God, her eyes were so empty.

The look of an insane woman.

Finally, Brooke broke the stare dropping the bottle of wine she’d been carrying. It shattered into several pieces, the dark liquid coating the floor.

  “Clean up on Aisle 7!”

Brooke stood there still shaken by Chelsea’s appearance.

“Who lies beneath the shadow of the pyramid?” Chelsea rasped.

Brooke stared at her in disbelief.

  “I…I…. don’t know.”

Chelsea flipped her hair from her face.

  “I think you do.”

Brooke shrank back as Chelsea loomed over her. She was so tall. Brooke hadn’t envisioned her being so imposing. The chill from the produce section was overwhelming. Brooke rubbed her arms to warm them. A Muzak version of ‘In the Air Tonight’ played over the loudspeakers.

“I’m going to ask you one more time. Who lies beneath the shadow of the pyramid?”

Brooke struggled to find her voice. Why wouldn’t someone help her? Surely someone noticed this crazy looking woman standing far too close to her.

But the other shoppers paid her no mind.

“Stop following Jax!” Brooke whispered to her.

Sarah leaned in so close she could smell her perfume. It was a familiar, musky, Oriental garden scent.

  Poison maybe?

  How fitting, she thought.

“I’m only doing what I was ordered to do.”

“Chelsea, I’m telling you to stop. This has gone too far.”

“It will go as far as it needs to.”

Brooke pulled her cart to her.

“Back off, Chelsea. I’m going to call the police.” Brooke pulled her phone from her purse.

“They can’t help you. No one can.” Chelsea shook her head. Her full lips curled into a sneer.

“Fuck you.” Brooke whispered as she dialed 911. Before she could press send, Chelsea knocked the phone from her hands. It clattered to the floor shattering the screen.

“Are you okay, Miss?” A man shopping nearby stopped to help her. As they gathered up her phone, Chelsea disappeared down another aisle.

“What happened?” He asked.

“I’m not sure. This crazy woman has been following my boyfriend. Now she’s here following me.”

  “Can I help you?”

Brooke looked all around them. Chelsea appeared to be gone. She shook her head.

  “No, I think she’s gone.”

Shaken, Brooke finished her shopping quickly.

As she approached her car, she felt eyes upon her again. She threw her bags into the car roaring off towards Jax’s house.

As soon as she got onto the highway, a pair of headlights followed her. Brooke glanced in her rearview mirror. The car was fast approaching her and riding up behind her.

  My God, it’s her.

Brooke searched for her phone. Dammit! The cracked screen showed only the Apple logo.

  Her phone was fucked.

Cursing aloud, Brooke held tight to the steering wheel swerving in and out of traffic trying to lose her. Chelsea remained on her tail following her every move. Making a swift right turn narrowly missing a semi-truck, Brooke saw that Chelsea was caught behind a stop light.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Brooke continued her drive out to Jax’s house. Confident that Chelsea was gone, Brooke cranked up the volume on the radio. She sang along to one of Jax’s favorite songs as she drove. Flipping the blinker on, she made the turn down the lonely road to Jax’s house.

As the pine trees whizzed past her, she lost herself in the song thinking about the fabulous dinner she was going to make for Jax when she got to his house. It was one of his favorite dishes: roast pork tenderloin with roasted new potatoes and asparagus. She’d picked up two good bottles of wine to accompany the meal.

A pair of headlights flashed bright in her rearview mirror temporarily blinding her. She screamed as the car rammed into her from behind making her swerve dangerously across the road.

Brooke jammed her foot on the accelerator trying to outrun the other car. Fucking Chelsea! It had to be!

Again, the car revved forward ramming into her. Screaming with fright, Brooke tried desperately to maintain control of her car as it swerved all over the road.

Then, Brooke screamed as she found herself in the lane of oncoming traffic. A huge truck was barreling towards her at breakneck speed. Quickly, she jerked the wheel and whipped her car back into her lane. She lost control as the car spun out of control and off into a ditch.
