As time passed, several of Cam’s crew came to the hospital and waited with us. They took turns going back to see him. One of them bought pizza and sodas for everyone because it seemed like we were all in for the night. Finally, after who knows how long, in runs Fallon. Frantic and crying. She was putting on an Oscar-worthy performance.

“My brother! Where is my brother? What happened to him? Oh my God, my baby!” she came in yelling.

“Bitch, sit your stupid ass down! You making all that noise and got everybody in here looking at us. Where you been at anyway? We have been down here for hours. Your ass coming in here now at almost sunrise screaming about your baby? Shut up before I put one in your ass!” Cam’s right hand man, Romell, said, quickly putting Fallon in her place.

I would have laughed but I didn’t think it was appropriate. Lana came out of the room after visiting with him and it was obvious that she had cried a river. She came and sat down beside Ayanna. Ayanna just looked at her for a long time. And then Lana spoke.

“Look. I know we got off on the wrong foot. Mainly because Fallon kept putting in my head that you were somehow out to steal Cam from me. But the truth is it has been over with me and Cam. I’ve known that for quite some time now but I was just in denial. And tonight has shown me that life is way too short to be beefing with anyone and more importantly to try to hold on to someone that wants to leave. So I want to apologize to you in front of everyone here and to let you know that if you’re cool with me, I’m cool with you. I have a daughter to raise. What kind of example am I setting walking around acting crazy over her daddy?”

That was very well said and I applauded Lana for being so adult about the situation. Sometimes it took bad things to happen for good things to emerge. Yanna took the high road and held Lana’s hand. She nodded her head and told Lana that everything was everything with them. She respected her for being a woman about things. It was a beautiful moment indeed. Even Fallon had been quiet ever since Romell threatened her. She was staring off into space. The girl was in bad shape. I felt only a little sorry for her. Fallon was a stupid young girl. She had a lot to learn about life. When it was Ayanna’s turn to go sit with Cam, I told her I was going home to get some rest and would see her in the morning.

I hugged Eva and Ciara as they both got up to leave the hospital then I walked to Cam’s room. It felt like it took me forever to get there and my legs felt heavy and weighed down. I didn’t know I had these types of feelings for Cam until I saw him fall to the ground and covered in all that blood. I walked in to see him and immediately my eyes filled with tears. He was resting and there were so many machines beeping and monitoring his vitals. It was a sight to see. I sat beside his bed and touched his face. His eyes fluttered open. When he saw it was me, he smiled.

“Hey baby. It’s good to see you,” I whispered and picked up his hand to kiss it.

“What’s up ma? You look tired,” he said in a weak, raspy voice.

“Shhh. Don’t worry about me. You just lay right here and let everyone take care of you.”

“This shit is foul, man. Who would shoot me? ME? And a chick at that. Shit is crazy man,” Cam said and a single tear slid from his eye.

“I don’t know, but Romell and them are going crazy trying to find out who did it. But you don’t need to be worried about any of that right now. I just need you well so you can come home with me.”

Cam looked at me. Yeah I said it. I wanted him to come home. To move in with me. Almost losing him made me realize how much I wanted him.

“You serious?” he asked in a surprised voice.

“Never been more serious before in my life.”

“Damn. I might need to get shot more often,” he laughed slightly then grimaced.

“Aww, be easy baby. We have plenty of time to laugh and cut up when you get out of here,” I said as I smiled at him.

“Can I come in for a minute?” Fallon asked quietly from the door. I just looked at her. Something just wasn’t right. Her remorse. Her guilt. She was so distraught. I know she loves her brother but something just seemed so, I don’t know, wrong.

“Sure, he’s your brother. I’ll be out in the waiting area Cam,” I said and kissed him on his cheek.

When I got back to the waiting room a few more people had arrived. I noticed a girl that had been with Lana when they came to the club, I noticed a few of Fallon’s friends, including the one Eva threw her drink on, and a couple of other people that I didn’t immediately recognize. But one girl in particular seemed to look out of place. I didn’t pay it any attention at first. But when I looked at her again, that’s when it hit me.

“It’s YOU!” I screamed and all hell broke loose.

When I was a little girl, I found the art of storytelling. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be doing it for real and loving every minute! God puts people into our lives for a reason & I praise Him for the gift of writing.

I am so thankful to my publishers, Natissha Hayden and Nesha Mikell, as well as the man who started it all and made it possible, David Weaver.

I would like to thank my hometown, Thomasville, NC for showing me continuous love and support throughout my endeavors. I can’t name everybody because I don’t want to leave anyone out so you know who you are and what you’ve done to help me along the way. Whether it was reading a few chapters or putting up with me constantly asking “How does this sound?” or “Did you like this chapter?” (smile), just know that your support is greatly appreciated.

I would like to give a special shout out to Arkeya Keys, her Admin crew, and the entire Keys & No Lock family. You all embraced me and didn’t even know me and for that I say thank you!

I want to say thank you to my son and daughter, Naim and TeZhona, for putting up with me always being glued to this computer when it was time to write another story. I love you to the heavens and beyond!

And to my TBRS family, Thank you for the support and encouragement! We’re in this together! To my fans and followers: Never give up on your dreams. You never know how far you can go until you try. ! Peace & Love <3 ~Kisha

If I could leave you all with a quote, it would be one of my favorites:
