How can two people write the same book without the writing style changing throughout the book?

  —Shauna Lynch

  P. C.: Well, in the HoN I do all the writing and Kristin does all the editing. We do cowrite other books, though, and when we do that we take turns writing chapters according to which character is in the lead during the chapter. Our editors, agent, and publishers can’t ever tell who wrote which chapter and, yes, the style is the same. Part of that comes from the fact that we’re mother and daughter and we sound like each other. The rest is because we are cowriting so we know the voice has to remain consistent. We’re experienced authors and we’re good at that. It’s basically a lot of hard work and focus—and a big box of writing tools.

  K. C.: Staying in the same lane with voice and style isn’t as difficult as it might seem. It’s like with anything you’re submerged in. If you’ve been reading the same book for hours and then return to your real life, there’s that small window of time when you truly feel like you’re still connected to the book world. You could even sound exactly like your favorite character if you wanted to. It’s a lot like that—but stretched out, since I’m not leaving the book world to return to real life.

Will there be a HoN show/movie within the next few years?

  —Julianna Berger

  P. C.: In November 2011 Samuel Hadida at Davis Films purchased the film rights to HoN. Kristin and I met with Hadida in Paris and had a lovely time discussing what was supposed to be the first of five major motion pictures. Hadida hired a fantastic screenwriter, Marc Haimes (Kubo and the Two Strings). Marc wrote a wonderful screenplay that has my full support. Hadida has done nothing with it. There isn’t anything more Kristin and I can do until the rights revert to us in 2020. Yes, we find the situation very frustrating. If you want to make your voice heard and tell Samuel Hadida you would like the HoN to come to film (or TV!), here is his contact information. He’s not listening to the authors. Maybe he’ll listen to the fans!

What’s next for you two talented ladies?

  —Samantha Green

  P. C.: Wind Rider, the third book in my bestselling YA fantasy series Tales of a New World, releases in October 2018, and then in January 2019 the first book in Kristin and my new coauthored YA series, the Dysasters releases! We can’t wait!

  K. C.: And we actually wrote the Dysasters together! So, check it out and see if you can tell who wrote which characters. I’m also working on adapting the first book in the Dysasters series into an amazing graphic novel (release date to come). And keep an eye out for news about my new YA series, the Key!
