IT TOOK SOME more massaging, but Adele got the money for the purchase. Rob Peterson knew the dealer, so the price tag wasn’t the full hundred and fifty thousand dollars. The dealer registered the vehicle in the name of Juan Cortez esquire, which was exactly what the General requested. A picture was taken of the car parked at the short term parking garage on floor 3, section A6. In the photograph was a picture of the registration confirming the car’s ownership.
The private jet was arranged and when it landed, Kyle, T.J., Fredo, Armando and Cooper walked from the hangar to greet it. Several airport employees handled the ice chests and their other gear, rolling it out on a luggage train. First, a large strong box was unloaded, and then all the Team’s equipment was uploaded to the belly of the sleek jet.
General Cortez opened the strong box and examined the contents in private, returning with a grin. “Bueno,” he said in exaggerated Spanish like Kyle had done two days before. He motioned for Jake to be released and with Wade Secord walking next to him, he made his way to the others, where he was greeted with hugs.
“You got rid of your beard,” remarked T.J.
“Damn straight. With all those fleas, ew. I don’t ever want another beard again. And as for this,” he said as he rubbed his palm over the top of his skull, “it’s already starting to grow back. I can’t wait to get home!”
Seacord had no clue what was to befall him and was introducing himself to the team, sharing in the joy of the moment.
“Jake!” came a shout from the jetway.
Gerud ran to embrace his brother. “Would you look at this, I got to help my big brother out this time. Probably will never happen again, but who would have thought, right?”
“Thanks, man,” said Jake.
“You don’t have to thank me. We’re family, Jake. I was happy to do it. Mom and I think it’s the best investment we’ve ever made. Welcome home, almost.”
General Cortez held up the Tesla keys, and winked. “Gracias, amigo.” He started to leave and then forgot something. He reached into his shirt pocket and took out a photograph, handing it to Kyle.
All the SEALs looked over Kyle’s shoulders at the gorgeous picture of one of the hottest women, they’d ever seen, posing in a bathing suit. Kyle smiled and tucked the photo in his pocket, and gave it a little pat.
“And the saga continues, gents. You’re gonna have to help me with this one.”
Chapter 20
THE PARTY HAD been held at Adele’s home, where all the grandkids were invited to spend the night, as well as Monica and Karlene. This was done so Jake and Ginger could at last have some alone time.
His bites were nearly gone, thanks to some medication Coop got him. He walked with her up their front steps and lifted her up over the threshold, bringing her inside.
“We’ll be making this official soon, but I thought I’d get some practice in.”
“I’m not that heavy I hope.”
“Nope. Just like to practice. You know, until I get it perfect. Like we do in bed.”
“I do know. You are perfect. Perfect in every way.” She opened the doors to the bedroom and turned around, stopping his entry. “I need to go put on the music and light the candles. I want this to be just like I’d imagined it would be.”
Jake leaned against the wall and waited. The familiarity of their relationship, the smells of home and the certainty of their evening together made him feel the happiest he’d ever been. It was so damned good to be home. To be part of the SEAL family and his own family. He knew it wouldn’t always be like this, but for today, everything was perfect. His mother found the love she thought she’d lost years ago and sacrificed for her son. Mr. Peterson now had a family he thought he’d never have, and the contact and association with all the SEALs, the grandchildren and the community was actually energizing him. Both Adele and Gerud thought he was improving, instead of going the other way.
The mission had been declared a success, even with all the twists and turns. Gerud was looking forward to his future, however long that would be, with his father. The dysfunctional family elements were gone. It was the start of a new life for him. He’d done it. He’d actually turned things around.
Ginger opened the bedroom door in her new bra and panties. These were bright red. Her hair once again looked like it was on fire because of the warm glow coming from the room. She had lit over a dozen white pillar candles all over the room, had turned on some soft jazz, and was waiting for him.
She tucked her fingers into her bra cup and slowly pulled out a red ribbon, and then one other. “I’ve been saving these for you, my love.”
Her soft flesh trembled under his touch. That little moan she always gave at the first kiss of their encounter finished him off. “Ginger, you’re so full of surprises.”
“I’m just getting started.”
She unbuttoned his shirt, unzipped his slacks and carefully laid his clothes over the overstuffed chair by the window. She took his hand, and brought his naked body over to the bed. There was a red satin scarf in the center.
“What’s this?”
“Just some things to occupy our time.” She peeled back one corner, revealing a variety of sex toys including gels and lotions, a riding crop, black velvet ribbons, hand-held vibrators of various sizes and shapes, and a collection of some naughty DVDs.
“I had no idea you had this in you, sweetheart.”
“I want you to teach me, Jake. Make me into the woman you’d never ever even think about leaving. Show me how to love you.”
“But you do beautifully. I have absolutely no complaints. Honest, honey.”
“But would you like to experiment a little? Would that turn you on?”
“Indeed it would. I’d love to explore with you. I’ll go anywhere you want me to go.”
“And I have one more surprise.”
“Another one?”
She touched his tip, then let her fingers dance up his torso, and then pressed herself against him, as he bent to claim her mouth.
She kissed him on the ear, and whispered, “I’m pregnant.”
