"What brings you here today, Mr?" I asked.
"Victor Von Nomach" he answered extending his hand towards me. I accepted the greeting and knew my ex behind the door would bite my hand off for touching the Enforcer. "The Order has requested me to inform you that I will be personally involved in the security of Ms. Kamala Russ."
"Why is she in need of protection?" I quickly asked letting go of his hand.
He smelled my sent on his hand before answering, "The vampire responsible is still at last and we believe he might attempt to finish what he started."
"And why would he do that?"
"Well," turning to the view of the street, "he seems to have certain feeding habits and she fits his taste perfectly. But we can never be certain of these things. If he however does return for her, we will be waiting to apprehend him."
"I feel there is something you are not telling me." I stated seeing a large dagger revealing itself on side of the Enforcer.
"I've only been instructed to inform you of my role during the evening." He said still looking outside. "I will be personally in charge and will make sure nothing happen to her."
"For a human, she seems to be important to the Order. Can you perhaps enlighten me as to why?"
He again smelled the hand I greeted him with and turned around. "Unfortunately, I am in the dark regarding that information." I could see he was telling the truth. "I better make my way back. The longer I stay here, the more your little pet dog seem to grow impatient. I do not wish to harm anymore of his kind." He paused smiling, "I had my fair share."
I quickly opened the door and saw Chase standing in the doorway. There were signs of hair growing slowly from his scrubby beard. I gently ashed him aside and Victor, the Enforcer, walked out smiling at Chase's direction.
Sammy hovered fast over to the door, opening it. "Is there any chance I might be able to get your signature and a pinch of your blood? It's for historical purposes. I am busy writing the quite-essential history of all supernatural communities... The title is a work in progress." Out of his metallic body a little piece of paper appeared with an old ink pen on top of it.
Victor smiled at him and signed his name. After wards he made his way out the door.
"This is SO awesome!" Sammy screamed out and closed the door behind him. "I have just accomplice what no being could have ever done... Shit!"
"You finally realized what a stupid thing you just did." Juliet said throwing an empty can at him.
"He forgot to give me the blood sample." Sammy said turning around and opening the door. "I just missed out on the most historical record!" The vampire was gone and no one, including me seemed to be bothered by the fact that he just stepped out into the sun without being burnt.
I was too occupied with Chase standing behind me. He sniffed the smell of the enforcer on me, and pushed pass me. I could sense his dislike towards the smell. "I better get going." He said making his way pass Sammy who was still looking out the door going on about the lost opportunity.
Chase had to move Sammy aside, which sent off a humming sound from his hovering mechanism. Sammy reacted with the words, "how rude" as Chase left.
With both of them gone, I made my way to my office. There was something the Order was not telling me. As far as I can remember, no vampire has ever taken so much interest in a human.
Chase was going to make sure his involved in this case due to the Enforcer. I just hope I can get through this case and get the information I need from the Order.

AUTHOR NOTES
THANK YOU for not only reading this book, but also reading through to these author notes, as well.
Welcome to the first installment of the paranormal thriller of the Touched. I really love reading legal thrillers, paranormal thrillers and watching reruns of The Practice. With that in mind I started writing this story early 2017.
I did what most writers do, and placed it in a folder on my pc to be forgotten while working on other things. Until my girlfriend went through my files one evening. She read it and pushed me to write it further.
Thanks to her persistence of completing the work, I decided to release it as I work through the book.
She is a part-time writer herself. I keep pushing her to publish her work but she always throw it in my face that I am in no position to push her if I am doing the same thing.
So here I am and to my girlfriend:
"Now you have no more excuses! Publish your work! Stories are created to be shared with the world. It is selfish to keep them to yourself. Gift your work to the world."
At the moment I am 70% of the way done with the first book "The Touched" and will publish it in print form after releasing the last part.
I was playing with the idea of ending this part with a short sample of the what is to come in the next installment but decided against the idea, as the story ends at a good place. It sets up the world, the legal system and most of the characters in the story while hinting on the mystery ahead for our heroine and the firm.
What lies ahead? Well, at the moment I have this itch to write a chapter or two of a court room drama with our heroine cross-examining a losing case, but that will most probably not happen. This book do not fit in with what I usually write: Paranormal with a good hint of erotica but I loved the story so much that I decided to go ahead and publish it.
In this story our heroine and the firm will find themselves in the middle of a battle between the wolves, the vampyr and a mysterious source of power that can shift the balance between the two races.
It's going to be one hell of a ride ahead as the story develops and cannot wait for your feedback on it all.
Oh, before I go... if you like the story so far, head over to facebook and like my fan page as well as consider signing up to the mailing list. Facebook keeps changing its algorithm making it hard to get the latest updates. The mailing list is perfect to keep up to date as well as receiving advance previews of future works in progress. I will be on the facebook page answering any questions you have.
Till next time,
Madison Nova
P.S: If you liked the story, please write a short review for me on Amazon. I greatly appreciate any kind words, even one or two sentences go a long way. The number of reviews an ebook receives greatly improves how well an ebook does on Amazon.
