Ruthie's Desire - The Esquire Girls Series - Ruthie's Story (Books 1, 2, 3 & 4) - Box Set Page 6

by Cassie-Ann L. Miller

I quickly get dressed and hurry out of the bathroom. I grab my purse and my shoes, and rush out of the apartment. I slip into my shoes as the elevator makes its descent to the lobby. Once out on the sidewalk, I hail a cab and take my horny ass home.

  Chapter 19

  “What are you doing here?”

Michael is standing in my doorway. Irritation mars his gorgeous face as he pushes past me, barging into my apartment. “No – the question, Ruth, is what are you doing here?”

After I’d left his apartment, I came straight home and slipped into my sweats. I’d grabbed a glass of milk and crawled into bed with my copy of Unraveled After Dark. I figured that since I couldn’t bang a smokin’ hot man tonight, I might as well read about it. But I should have known that Michael wouldn’t let me off so easy.

I follow him down the hall as he makes his way to my bedroom. He doesn’t seem to have forgotten his way around. “I live here,” I laugh bitterly, trying to block his path. But he’s like a runaway freight train; he can’t be stopped.

“You were supposed to be at my apartment, naked, waiting for me.” He slips out of his suit jacket and hangs it on the doorknob. He kicks off his shoes and proceeds to unbutton his dress shirt.

It’s too hard to formulate a sentence as I watch his divine body slither out of his clothing. Still, I manage to say. “I went. And then your fiancée showed up.”

He freezes, his hands stalled at his belt buckle. “My fiancée? What are you talking about?”

“Your. Fiancée.” I pronounce each syllable distinctly so there’s no misunderstanding. “That woman. The one who showed up at your office with coffee the other day when you had me pinned to your office door. Only then, I didn’t know that you were engaged to her.” My tone reeks of vitriol.

“Ugh! Fucking Liz,” he hisses. “She’s not my fiancée. Her parents have been trying to marry her off to me way back since we started law school. I’m not interested. I try to be polite to her, but she really won’t take a hint.”

“She has a key to your apartment.”

He sighs. “She checks in on my place when I’m in L.A. I had asked Matt to do it but he claims he’s too busy. And Madison’s balancing work and school and ballet, so I never asked her to help me out.”

I fold my arms tightly across my chest trying to decide whether I should believe him.

He takes a step closer to me and grasps me by my shoulders. “Ruth – she’s not my fiancée.” I want to believe him. I really do, but… “Y’know what? I’ll call her right now and set the record straight because this is just plain ridiculous.” He’s pulling his phone out of the pocket of his pants.

He’s telling the truth. I can see it in his frown, in the way his eyes storm over.

A faint smile slides over my lips. “You don’t have to do that, Michael…Us…You and me…it’s so inappropriate. We really shouldn’t take this any further, anyway.”

He puts his phone back into his pocket and cups my cheek in his hand. “That’s just not acceptable to me. We need to take this further. We need to take it as far as it will go.”

Now, his pants are around his ankles and he’s sliding his boxers down his long, powerful legs. I’m almost salivating as I’m watching this Adonis completely naked in front of me. But I know that turning him away is the right thing to do. It’s right for my career.

Michael doesn’t seem to hear what I’m saying though because now, he’s standing in front of me, undoing the drawstring of my navy blue sweat pants. “What are you doing?” I ask in a voice that’s shaky with desire. Now, he’s on his knees. Just like he was in the elevator. His lips trace a path down the side of my thigh as he slowly glides the sweats off of my body. “Michael…” his name comes out all hot and breathy as I lean into the wall to keep my balance.

He looks up at me as he runs three fingers across the damp silk of my panties. The sensation steals my breath, steals my words and all I can do is moan. He brings his lips to my heated core and kisses it gently. The warmth of his breath feels so good against such an intimate part of my body. But I want more. I want to feel his mouth on my sensitive skin and want to feel his tongue lashing against me.

I hook my thumbs into the waistband of my panties and slide them down until they lay in a pile on top of my sweat pants. Michael growls as my glistening mound comes into view. “You’re so fucking wet and beautiful,” he groans, just before he slowly, tenderly glides his index finger along the slickness of my cleft. A tortured moan races past my lips as my hips circle shamelessly, silently begging for more contact.

He rewards me by slipping a finger into my pulsing channel and stroking my clit softly with his warm tongue. “Michael…Michael.” I can’t control the desperate sound of my own voice.

“You taste like heaven,” he moans into my flesh. “Licking your cunt is making my cock so hard.” The sound and vibrations of his voice are causing my desire to gush out onto his tongue. I throw my head back against the wall as I slide my fingers into his hair. I have to keep his head in place. I can’t let him take his tongue away from me. Not now. Not when I’m so close.

And now, he’s holding onto my thighs, pushing them apart as his tongue probes deeper and deeper into my sensitive folds. “It feels so good, Michael. So good.” And he tongues me harder and faster and with more urgency than before. And my nipples tingle. My breathing is hard. My hips jerk against his mouth.

He raises my leg and wraps it around his shoulder. He grabs on to the cheeks of my ass and pulls me closer than close. He drags his teeth against my aching clit and I go flying headlong into a mind-blowing orgasm. Screaming and quivering uncontrollably, I pull desperately at his roots as he sucks every drop of pleasure right out of my core.

  Chapter 20

“Jeeze – I could fuck you forever.” He pumps his cock into me slow but hard as my fingernails sink into the skin on his back.

I’m lying under him. Looking up into his handsome face. “Please, Michael. Please fuck me forever.” My words are hungry and irrational. I don’t care. All I know is that this feels good. Just as good – no, better than – the first night he was in my bed.

His lips cover mine and I savor my own flavor lingering on his tongue. I groan into his mouth. His thrusts are deep and hard but slow enough that I can appreciate the exquisite pain of his thickness stretching my walls.

I arch my back slightly as his lips move across the side of my face and down my neck. He doesn’t break his stride one bit. My pussy clamps down on him involuntarily and he moans, pleasure pinching at his forehead. “God, Ruth. You’re killing me.”

At that moment, he bites down on my shoulder and my entire body ignites. I scream his name as I seize under the threat of another forceful orgasm. My entire body is trembling so hard that for a split second, I wonder if I should be afraid.

And then, he bites me again. And, just like a tidal wave of pleasure crashes through me. His eyes widen slightly and his strokes accelerate as ecstasy sweeps over him and he finds his release deep in my body.

He falls into the linens next to me, his breathing rough and labored. He looks over at me with a delicious smile and kisses me on the cheek. He wraps his arms around me and buries his face into my hair. He’s gorgeous and I could lie here with him forever, but I have to get to my intellectual property research. So, I pull away.

As I sit on the edge of the mattress with my legs hanging over the side of the bed, I pull the sheets up to cover my breasts. He leans back against the headboard still breathing hard and fast, skin glistening with sweat. “Jeeze – your pussy is the best thing that ever happened to me,” he announces without a trace of humor in his expression.

Not sure whether to be insulted or thank him for the compliment, I burst out laughing. He looks relaxed and at ease. I like him like this. I really do. He runs his fingers up and down my arm. “You’re one of a kind, Angel.”

I flinch and pull away from his touch. “Don’t call me that. Anything but that.”

  He
rolls over onto his side, propping himself up on his elbow as he looks at me. “What’s wrong, Ruth?”

“Just don’t call me that,” I bark, rising to my feet, dragging the tail of the blanket across the floor as I make my way to the bathroom.

  Chapter 21

“I really need a date for my cousin’s wedding on Saturday. If I show up alone to another family function, my mother will resume her mission to set me up with one of the guys from her church choir and then, I’ll have to shoot myself.” Nadia’s whining as she stares into her handheld mirror, reapplying her burgundy lipstick.

I lean over the edge of my cubicle to look at her. “I already told you – I think you should ask Luke. He’d make a great wingman for the night.”

She rolls her eyes deeply. “My mother would think that I robbed the cradle if I showed up with Luke. He looks like he’s fifteen.”

Just then, Luke appears out of nowhere and sinks into his seat. “I heard my name. What’s up?”

“Nadia needs a date for a wedding on Saturday,” I say with a chuckle.

Luke offers Nadia a broad smile. “I’d show you the time of your life if I took you to that wedding,” he says throwing her a playful wink.

  Nadia just growls. “Whatever, Luke.”

I look up when I hear laughter approaching. I come eye to eye with Michael, all tall and gorgeous and rugged, his beautiful eyes twinkling jovially as he talks and laughs with his brother and sister. What a sexy man. All laidback charm with the sleeves of his black dress shirt rolled up to the elbows and a can of soda dangling precariously from his fingers. Our eyes transfix and it’s like fireworks are going off in the pit of my stomach.

“We’ll catch up later,” he says patting Matt on the shoulder, but his eyes never leave mine. “I need to have a word with the interns.” Matt says goodbye and continues his stroll down the hallway towards his office. Madison takes her seat at her cubicle near mine and boots up her computer.

Michael clears his throat as he pushes aside the books on the edge of my desk and takes a seat, turning his back to me. My view is all broad shoulders and wavy black hair and I pray god help me resist the urge to pinch his ass as it’s perched on the edge of my table. “Hey guys. Quick team meeting.”

All the interns look up at him stunned but still huddle near him. When he’s satisfied that he has everyone’s attention, he rests his soda can on my desk and continues. “So, next week, a new intern will be starting work here – Jasmine Santiago. I trust that you guys’ll show her the ropes and help her get settled in.”

We all nod as Michael reaches back and grabs his soda can. I get a whiff of his spicy cologne and I almost swoon.

“So, tell me guys – how’s it going? Luke, I heard you’ve been doing some good work with the tax department. All I hear is good things about you.”

Luke beams proudly. “I’m doing my best.”

“And Nadia, you’re involved in some mergers and acquisitions work?”

Nadia nods timidly. “Yes. Madison and I have been helping out on a new ToneWave file.” Her dark brown skin won’t betray the fact that she’s blushing but I know her – I know she’s all flushed.

  “The KGenesis acquisition?” Michael asks.

Madison intervenes. “No – The KGenesis file closed a while ago. Now, ToneWave’s acquiring a small company that makes apps for kids with vision impairments.”

“Sounds interesting,” Michael says, nodding. “And as for the other interns – Hailey, Chase and Domenic – what’s new with them?” Michael asks.

“They’re in class today,” Nadia offers.

“Oh, okay. Sounds good. Sounds like everybody’s keeping busy.” With that, Michael eases off of my desk, tossing his soda can into the trash bin under my desk. I feel goosebumps rise all along my legs as his fingers brush discreetly against my thigh.

He’s ignoring me. He asked everyone else what they’re working on and he completely ignored me.

Just as he’s about to walk away, he turns and glances at me. “Ruth, I’d like to see you in my office, please.”

I freeze. The nerves in my stomach bunch tightly into a knot. I feel Nadia’s eyes on me as I nervously gather a pen and notepad and follow Michael down the corridor.

  Chapter 22

He holds the door open for me as I cross over the threshold hesitantly. I purse my lips nervously as I sit in the chair across from his desk and watch him close the door. He doesn’t make eye contact with me as he rounds the desk and eases into his executive chair.

Am I about to get fired? I really think I’m about to get fired. Puta merda!

He places his elbows on his desk and steeples his fingers in front of him, appearing to be deep in thought.

Finally, he clears his throat. “Ruth, I’ve really enjoyed the time we’ve spent together over the past little while – you’re gorgeous and feisty and you have a snappy sense of humor – I like that.” He pauses as he loosens his tie “But –“

But. Shit, he said but. He’s about to fire me.

“But, I’m interested. In you. In getting to know you. Outside of the bedroom…or the elevator for that matter.” He chuckles lightly to himself.

Whoa! I didn’t see that coming. “Wh-what do you mean?” I wring my hands nervously in my lap.

He smiles at me as he leaves his seat and moves into the chair next to me. He grabs hold of my fidgety hands and looks me in the eye. “I wanna take you on a date.”

  Huh? “A date?”

“Yes – a date. I wanna take you to the movies and share a large, buttery popcorn with you.”

I stare at him blankly, dumbfounded. This isn’t what I was expecting.

“I don’t want you to protest. You’re always saying that we need to stop hanging out. But I think you’re fucking awesome. And I wanna get to know you better.” There’s something so intimate in his eyes. In the way he’s looking at me.

This isn’t good. This man has no idea what he’s getting into with me. “Michael, there are some things you don’t know about me,” I mumble.

He laughs. “And there are some things you don’t know about me. That’s the whole point of going on a date – so, we can get to know each other better.”

I try to speak again, but he brings his finger to my lips. “Friday night. Dinner and a movie, Ruth.”

Who am I fooling? I want this. I want to go out with this beautiful, charming man.

  I feel myself nodding.

“Good,” he says in a soft voice, his brilliant eyes beaming. He brings his lips to my cheeks and kisses me tenderly. He stands and extends his hand to me. I place my hand in his and rise to my feet. “I’ll see you on Friday night, Ruth.”

“Okay.” My voice is small and quivering with excitement.

He holds the door open for me and watches me until I disappear around the corner.

  Chapter 23

“I have no idea what to wear,” I moan, exasperated as I throw yet another outfit onto the pile on my floor.

“I really like the blue dress,” Amber says pointing towards one of the outfits with her chin as he sticks a chocolate-covered pretzel into her mouth.

I grimace as I pull it from the pile. “It’s too…sexy. It gives the wrong impression.”

She laughs heartily. “Ruthie, you let the man go down on you in an elevator. You’ve already made your impression.”

I roll my eyes as I stick my hands on my hips and evaluate the mess of clothes covering my bedroom floor. “Maybe jeans and a pretty t-shirt,” I muse quietly.

“No, no, no,” Amber protests. “This isn’t Rick from the video store or Bobby from the sandwich shop down the street you’re going out with. It’s Michael Moretti. Hot shot attorney to the stars. You’ve got to look like a million bucks.”

“Way to ease my anxiety, Amber,” I groan pulling my fingers through my long blond hair.

Just then, I hear the front door slam shut. “Honey, I’m home,” Hailey jokes as she announces her return from the office.
r />   “Hi Hails,” Amber yelps sliding off the edge of my bed to go greet my roommate.

My gaze drifts to my reflection in the mirror. My skin is flushed, my hair is mussed and I have that wide-eyed look on my face like a deer caught in the headlights. This date is a bad idea. Michael will be here to pick me up for dinner in 30 minutes. But I’m a mess. I need to cancel. Now. Before it’s too late.

I’m startled by a knock at the front door. Ohmygod – Is that him? Is he early?

“I’ll get it,” Hailey shouts down the hall. I stand there immobilized, my ears peeled for the sound of his voice. Instead, I hear an unfamiliar male voice. Hailey giggles and chats briefly. Then the door shuts. I hear her and Amber oohing and ahhing as they pitter-patter down the hall.
