Beneath Your Beauty Page 18

My head flew back, and I watched her. “Say it again.”

I watched her lips move as she said, “I love you, too.”

I stood rapidly with her in my arms. Putting her down on her feet, I stalked to the door.

“What are you doing?” she asked.

But I ignored her question. I flipped the lock and went back to her. My fingers went to her jeans, and I began to unbutton them.

“Steele…” Kayden said, batting at my hands.

I continued to work at her jeans.

“I haven’t even showered today,” she added, voicing her apprehension.

I grinned down at her blushing face. “Me either,” I admitted as I stripped off her jeans.

The thought of Kayden still having my scent lingering on her body made me fuckin’ crazy with want.

The look in her eyes went from wary to lust in two seconds. I tore her panties down from her legs. Then, I pulled my pants and boxer briefs down my legs, letting my hard cock spring free from its restrictions. I knelt down on the floor in front of her and rested my ass on my heels.

My hands ran up the length of her legs. I kissed her right thigh and then the left. I watched her face when my right hand stopped at her center. I let out a growl when I found out how soaking wet she was. Running a finger through her wet folds, she whimpered. She pulled her bottom lip between her teeth when I took my finger and sucked it into my mouth. The flavor of nothing but pure Kayden erupted onto my tongue.

I grabbed her hand, pulling her down. She sat astride me, and I centered my aching cock at her entrance.

When I roughly drove into her body, she groaned, “Yes.”

I held on to her hips as I lifted my ass from my heels and pounded into her. Grunting and panting, I said, “Say it again.”

Her one hand on the floor, the other around my neck, she looked deep into my eyes. Moaning and gasping, she said, “I love you.”

I kept up my hard thrusts while saying, “I fuckin’ love you.”

We held eyes as she moved her hips with mine. Our sweat-covered bodies smacked against each other. Her feet rested on the floor on either side of my legs. Her body bowed as she put her other hand on the floor behind her. I moved my hands to cup her ass. Slightly spreading her soft cheeks, I gripped her, pulling her roughly to meet my balls-deep plunges.

Her moaning became louder as her head fell back. “Yes…oh God, Steele, fuck me!” she yelled.

Her head flew up, and I met her eyes. I smiled at her embarrassed pink-stained cheeks. “Only you, Princess,” I grunted out. “From now on, only you.”

I stared at my reflection in the mirror. Taking a deep breath, I continued to brush my wet hair, my mind spinning with the clusterfuck my life had suddenly become. Steele knowing and sleeping with my sister added to the mixture of tumbling thoughts that invaded my mind. I hadn’t known if it was some sick and twisted curse that was cast over me, but it was going to take a long time to process that information.

After declaring my love for Steele and the hot mind-blowing rough sex, we had gone downstairs to Pauli’s. We’d sat with him and his wife, Sonia, and they had prepared a small spread for us. Steele and Pauli had dominated the conversation, talking about Steele’s decision to sell the building.

What I’d gotten from their chat and at the buyer’s office where we stopped after we left Pauli and Sonia was that the buyer was going to renovate the building for more upscale apartments.

What shocked the shit out of me was the price it had sold for.

Once the papers had been signed, we’d left, and Steele had made a call to his lawyer. Their discussion had been on speakerphone, so I’d heard it all.

“Okay, the final payment has been sent to the mortgage company. They’re paid off, and my money has been removed also. I’ve wired what was left—four hundred and thirty-six thousand dollars—to the account number you provided me.”

My stomach rose to the back of my throat. I choked and coughed when the amount came over the speaker. Steele patted my back and handed me the bottle of water that had been sitting in the cup holder. He smiled through my fit the whole time.

Once my hacking episode was over, the voice spoke, “Would you like me to continue?”

  Steele replied, smiling, “Yes.”

Then, his lawyer blew my fucking mind again.

“Okay, where were we?” I heard papers shuffling, and then he went on, “Right, you said you spoke to Rocco about the house?”

“Yes, he’s moving out next weekend,” Steele replied.

More papers shuffled, and his lawyer spoke, “Good. Then, all you have to do is come by the office and sign the offer.”

“Can you fax me the contract?” Steele asked, and laced his fingers with mine as he smiled at me. I gave a small grin back. “I’m going to be heading to Texas tomorrow.”

I was nervous as all hell about bringing Steele to meet my family. He would not only be meeting my mom and Aunt Sally but Bull, too. In addition, Dalton and Jeff were flying in also. We were all flying to Texas for my Aunt Sally’s birthday. Every year, she’d throw herself a big party, and if someone didn’t attend, his or her ass would be grass. With all the shit I was dealing with right now, the last thing I needed was to have Aunt Sally on my ass. So, needless to say, I was kind of freaking out. Not to mention, Steele and I still had some unfinished business to talk about.

Okay, I was freaking the fuck out. There’s no kind of about it.

We turned into the Bellagio when his lawyer said, “Sure, doing it as we speak. The concierge desk should have it in about five minutes. Once all this goes through, I will deposit the remaining balance in your account. My calculations are coming up with two hundred and seventy-four thousand. Does that sound about right to you?”

At that moment, I’d just happened to have a mouthful of water that I was about to swallow. I never had a chance to because I’d coughed again and sprayed my swig all over Steele’s truck. That was when Steele had flat-out laughed.

Through his laughing, he’d said to his lawyer, “Let’s finish this talk in a few before my girlfriend coughs up a lung.”

  And they’d said their good-byes.

I’d patted my chest a few times, trying to calm down my coughing. Feeling a hard nub under my T-shirt, I’d exclaimed, “Oh shit!” I’d then pulled the heart-shaped ruby pendant out from under my shirt.

“What? What’s wrong?” Steele asked quickly.

“I had to return this by noon today. Oh God, maybe if I tell Gerald I was sick or something and—”

Steele put the truck in park and turned to me. Putting his hands on my face and stopping my rambling, he said, “I’ll take it back. I know Gerald. Don’t worry. I’ll take care of it.”

So, I’d handed the necklace over to Steele along with a copy of the signed paper. He had left to do what he had to do, and I had gone up to the room. A note had greeted me on the entry table informing me that the gang was down by the pool. I’d figured it would be best to take a shower before heading down to meet them. I hadn’t thought sharing three rounds of sex juice with the other guests would be a sanitary thing to do.

My phone vibrated on the vanity. Turning off the blow-dryer, I tapped the screen and answered, “Hi, Mom.”

“Hey, sweetie. How did the meeting with the landlord go?” Her soft voice echoed through the bathroom.

I started to blush, thinking about what the landlord and I had done on the floor. “Um…very interesting,” I replied.

Her voice took on a concerned tone. “Did something go wrong?”

“No,” I said quickly to calm her, and went on to say, “I’ll tell you about it when I get there. Mom, I was going to call you shortly and ask if I can bring someone with me.”

The landlord meeting forgotten, she quietly and hesitantly asked, “Is it a male friend?”

That was when I heard Aunt Sally shout in the background, “Oh, thank the Lord. But I thought she was already bringing someone. Oh shit
, my Kayden is bringing two men. She’s just like her aunt.”

“Hush up, Sal. My Kayden is no hussy!” Mom yelled back to Aunt Sally. Then, her voice got soft when she said, “Please tell me—”

“No…” I dragged out quickly before my mom could finish. “I told you that Bull is a good friend.”

“And what about this new friend?” she questioned.

“His name is Steele, Steele Kincaid,” I told her. “He’s…um…”

Aunt Sally shrieked into the phone, “Spit it out, girl.”

“He’s my boyfriend,” I said hurriedly, getting it over with.

“Oh God, she’s bringing a man home,” Aunt Sally rejoiced.

Mom joined her. “I know,” she said thankfully.

“We need to polish the silver. Lee…Lee, get the polishing shit, and I’ll get the silver!” Aunt Sally yelled in the background while huffing.

I heard drawers slamming and scuffling movement.

“Stop!” I shouted into the phone. “No one needs to polish anything. You all need to stop acting crazy now, or I won’t bring him with me,” I said firmly. Then, I thought about having to tell Steele he couldn’t go meet my family. That was a conversation I knew I would not win. So, I really needed my crazy mom and aunt to calm the hell down.

“Please,” I requested, “just be as normal as you two can be. Can you both promise me that?”

“Yes, sweetie. Of course,” my mom said.

  I questioned stiffly, “Aunt Sally?”

  Aunt Sally huffed, “Fine.”

My mom chirped in, “Oh…I finally finished going through all the boxes from storage.”

Since my mom had had such a hard time when my dad passed, she’d put all contents of our house in storage. I never pressured her to go through them, but it was nice to know that she had finally done it.

  “That’s great, Mom.”

“Yeah.” She then continued with a sly whisper, “I found something.”

  I probed curiously, “Like what?”

  “Mary’s diary.”

“Do you want me to kick his ass?”

I had just finished telling Hunter what had really happened between Steele and me. Slipping my sunglasses down my nose, I tilted my head in Hunters direction. “No,” I said around a smirk.

The grin was more for the thought of Hunter being able to take on Steele. Hunter was built and tough, no doubt, but Steele was more of a six-two powerhouse of man with muscle.

Hunter took a gulp of the drink in his hand, and half of the pink concoction was gone in one swallow. The umbrella hit his nose, and I giggled. He took it out and threw it on the side table sitting between our lounge chairs.

“What in the hell are you drinking?” I asked him.

He huffed, holding up the clear plastic cup in front of his face, as if he was trying to figure it out for himself. “Who the fuck knows? Libby gave it to me to hold, so she could go in.” He signaled to the pool with the drink.

My eyes followed his movement. Libby and Tonya were leaning against the side of the pool, elbows resting on the edge, with their boobs pushed out in front of them. Their intended poses were as obvious as their breasts pressed above the water.

“What’s going on between you two anyway?” I asked him while I carried my attention to Spencer.

Three women fenced him in, and he was drinking it all up. Their intentions were as noticeable as Spencer’s. That was a room I wouldn’t want to be a fly on the wall in.

“Don’t try to change the subject. We were talking about you and Steele,” Hunter countered.

I put my drink on the table. “I told you everything.” I rose out of my chair.

Hunter sat up from his lounging position. “So, let me get this straight. You meet him in the city, you bring him home, and then you two fly off to L.A. You make an ass out of yourself and take off. Now, he just happens to own the building your Uncle Henry lived in, he had sex with Mary, and the L-word has been thrown around?”

“Yep,” I retorted, as I unwrapped the sarong from around my waist. “Do you really think I was an ass?” I asked earnestly. I still felt some guilt in not telling Hunter about the accurate way I’d met Steele.

Hunter removed his hat and ran a hand through his hair. “Kay, if that story came from anyone else’s lips other than yours, I wouldn’t have believed it. Yes, he was a dick for leaving you alone like that at the party.” Hunter stood and went on, “He should have told you what was gonna take place before you got there. But what you told me you did…I would have been in shock myself.”

“Are you sticking up for him?” I threw my wraparound on the chair. “Whose side are you on anyway?” I fixed my pale pink with silver swirls bikini bottom. Once I was happy that nothing was hanging out, I moved to my top.

“Don’t pull that girlie shit on me,” Hunter said abrasively. “You should know better. Honestly, Kay, you’re both at fault.”

Scrunching my hair on top of my head, I countered, “When did you turn into fucking Dr. Ruth?”

“Bitch, I’ll kick your ass,” Hunter teased. “I’m just saying, Kay.” He took his shirt off.

I watched two girls sitting at the bar gaze at him and then smile and whisper to each other.

I put the hair tie in the messy curls I’d piled on top of my head, and then I rubbed my face. “I know. I’m just afraid I let him off too easy.”

“Now, that’s a man,” a girl’s voice expressed behind me. “Damn.”

Another woman’s voice said, “Holy shit.”

I turned to see their gawking faces focused on the other side of the pool. I brought my attention to the pool’s entrance and watched Steele walking my way. A towel was draped around his neck. His bare upper body, all his gloriously defined muscles, and ink were on show. His baby-blue board shorts hung low on his waist, displaying the teasing trail of fine hair below his belly button. With black sunglasses on his eyes, his hair was falling in all directions.

My breath hitched as I watched him making his way toward me. Sunglass-covered eyes on mine as he sauntered.

His lips moved as he mouthed, I love you.

My heart skipped a beat, and my knees became weak as I beamed.

“Oh fuck, honey, your heart bought a one-way ticket with no fucking return flight,” Hunter voiced before he walked off in the direction of the pool.

I ignored his comment and kept my focus on my man.

As he rounded the pool, Hunter caught him. He shook Hunter’s hand, eyes never leaving mine. Hunter was talking when Steele’s eyes leisurely scanned me from head to toe. His stare caused warmth to course through my wanton body. The one thing I’d learned about sleeping with a male porn star was that he knew all the right buttons to push. He’d made me feel things I never even thought were possible to feel during all the times we were together.

When his lips tilted up on one side, I averted my gaze. I knew that smile, and it said too much for being around a crowded pool. I recognized I wasn’t the only one ogling him as most girls kept their eyes fixated on the beauty his outside held. However, it was me who truly only knew the man beneath the beauty. Not to mention, I was the one he loved. It all gave me a sense of peace from deep down inside.

The minute my gaze returned to the two men, Hunter smiled at me. He gave Steele a swift pat on the back before taking the steps into the pool.

Libby and Tonya bounced through the shallow end while waving and yelling, “Hi, Steele!”

Steele lifted his chin and continued heading in my direction.

“Oh God, he’s coming this way,” I heard from behind me.

That caused a small smile to form on my lips.

Earlier, when I’d come down to the pool, I’d felt a bit of insecurity hit me. Most women in the area were picture-perfect, including the women behind me currently talking about Steele. They had bodies any man would take a second glance at, especially in bathing suits that probably cost more than my whole wardrobe. Normally, this wouldn’t bot
her me, but knowing Steele was meeting me here, it had.

His looks compared to mine were like comparing night and day—well, in my eyes they were. There were no other words to describe him besides drop-dead gorgeous. I was more the average girl. Yeah, I had great hair that was full and wavy. Still, I was a lot curvier than most girls around here, even the ones at the wrap party, too. This thought of how we were in different leagues hadn’t hit me until I saw his breathtaking beauty enter the pool area.

His long strides stopped as he landed in front of me. I tilted my head up, and his came down. He touched his lips to mine. One arm went around my waist, and the other went lower where he rested a hand on my ass.

“I missed you,” he muttered against my lips. Lifting his head, he slid his glasses up into his hair. “And whatever went through that pretty little head of yours two seconds ago, throw it the fuck out—now.”

“What do you mean?” I asked, trying to sound dumb. I knew precisely what he was talking about, but I couldn’t let him know that.

“Princess…” he mumbled with a squeeze of his arms. “When my eyes connected with yours, I saw the look I love. As I got closer, you took on a look of panic. For what-the-fuck reason, I don’t know, but if it has anything to do with us, throw it the fuck out, and leave it there. Got me?”

  “But—”

“No.” He shook his head. “There are no buts when it comes to us.” Steele gripped my ass and smiled. “Except for the perfect one in my hand, which I will be sinking my teeth into later.”

A shiver went through my body as I watched his perfect white teeth behind his smile, picturing them biting my ass. “I need to cool off,” I informed him while gripping his biceps.

He chuckled. “Not until you tell me.”

“Tell you what?” I asked, confused.

He cocked his head to the side. “Really?” he asked with raised brows.

“Oh…” I teased, knowing he wanted an, I love you.

“I’ll give you an, oh,” he countered, lifting my feet from the ground.

He swung me around, and I shrieked.

Then, he yelled to the curious bystanders, “I’m so fuckin’ in love with this woman.”
