Vex: Mythical Ink Series (book 1): An Exotic Ink Novel
Page 24
“You good to stand on your own?” the transporter asked.
That's when he realized two things. One, he had a death grip on the male, and two, he was completely naked.
Turning loose of the male, he stepped back on legs made of rubber. He had a killer headache and was shaking all over, but otherwise, he was fine.
“Where am I?”
“Where you asked to be.” The transporter’s smile was brilliant, shining out from his perfect face. “You're home, Vex. Back in the Realm of the Living.”
“Home,” he repeated, recognizing the storefronts he could see at the mouth of the alley they had landed in.
He had been delivered across the street and a couple of blocks down from Mythical Ink.
“Be well, demon. I need to head back,” the transporter said stepping back and unfurling his wings.
“Thank you…” he paused, searching his mind for the name of the male.
“Cael.”
“Thank you, Cael.” He stuck out his palm.
Briefly clasping palms, he moved back and watched as the angel shot up into the sky that was already beginning to darken for the night.
Walking to the end of alley, he peeked out at the traffic of cars and people on Greene Street. Hugging his body close to the building, he leaned out to get a better look down the street and that's when he saw the most beautiful sight he never thought to see again.
The neon sign to the studio was still lit. Glowing against the backdrop of the building.
Cupping his privates in both hands, that was his destination.
Eyeing the walk sign where he would need to cross, he waited for it to change from the illuminated hand to the lit silhouette of a person taking a step forward. Busting out into a run, he hauled his naked ass out of the alley and across the street.
Gasps from the people as he bolted past sounded out in his wake as his legs pumped beneath him. Every step bringing him closer to the shop’s entrance. Closer to his fairy.
Goddamn, he hoped she was there. He had no idea how long he had been gone, but going by the make of the cars and familiar buildings lining both sides of Greene, it hadn't been long enough for anything to have changed.
He was just a few feet away when the sign flipped off.
Energized with a sudden panic, his thighs ate up the distance until he was panting and gripping the handle to the door that was now locked.
The front of the studio was void of people. The emptiness of the place had him beating his fist against the glass door, rattling it so hard it was a wonder he didn't shatter the glass.
Lucian appeared at the office door, stomping down the hall, a scowl etched on his face until he recognized who was doing all the banging.
As soon as the angel flipped the lock and opened the door, he rushed forward, crushing the male to him.
“Oh fuck, you're back!” Lucian swore, returning the hard squeeze. “Alea! Alea, get your ass out here.”
Pulling free of the embrace, he studied the face of his friend he never thought he’d see again. He had no words.
“You're naked.” The hippie pointed out the obvious, as a misty sheen of unshed tears brightened the blue of his eyes.
He nodded like a fool, so shocked he was actually standing where he was.
“Alea! For fucks sake, female, get your ass out here.” Lucian began pulling him down the hall as he continued to shout.
That's when he saw her. Stepping through the office door, angry, she had her hands on her hips ready to give the angel a verbal lashing until her whiskey eyes clapped onto him.
Her hands flew up to cover mouth. Disbelief heavy in her expression.
“Are you really standing there?” she whimpered.
Nodding was all he could manage. Overcome from the sight of her, he held his arms out and began to walk towards her.
Running to him, he caught her up in his arms as she lunged forward. Holding her so tight, she became a part of him.
“I love you, little fairy.” He pulled away, peering into her eyes. “Do you hear me? I love you more than anything else in this realm or the next.”
“Don't you dare leave me again, Vex,” she wailed. Balling her hands into fists, she pounded his shoulders and arms before wrapping her arms tightly around him and spilling her tears into his neck.
“I won't, Alea. Never again. I promise.”
Smoothing her palms over where she had hit him, she pulled back. “I love you, too. I should have said it sooner. I should have—”
“Shhhh,” he cut her off. “Let's not waste any time on regrets. We're together now and that's all that matters.”
“Not that I’m not damn glad to see you,” Lucian said. “But, how the fuck did you manage to get sent back?”
“I asked to be returned,” he shrugged. “I wanted to be back with my family. With you, Alea, and Sevin…” His words trailed off as the angel’s eyes dropped to the floor.
“Where is he? You haven't found him yet, have you?”
“No, we haven't.” The angel’s smile was bittersweet.
“How long have I been gone?”
“Almost three weeks,” Alea answered. “I search for him a couple of times a day, hoping to find him in the Realm of Dreams. I've sighted him several times, but can't get close enough to him to learn anything useful. You're naked by the way, not that I'm complaining or anything.”
Good Lord, so caught up in the joy of his reunion, he'd completely forgotten that little tidbit.
A jacket appeared in front him. The hand it dangled from belonged to that shifter, Kane, he'd man-handled back to shop. Thanking the puppy for what he offered, he covered up his bare ass.
As Alea and Lucian took turns bringing him up to speed, he couldn't seem to keep his eyes from wandering over to the newest member of their group. Strange how the male seemed to belong in their little enclave.
Content to wait with Alea for Lucian to make a quick flight to his apartment to retrieve clothing so they could grab a bite before they headed home, he was surprised to learn that all three of them had been shacking up at his place.
His fairy had refused to leave his home, afraid she might miss him if he were to return. Glad she had the angel to look after her, but what made him the happiest was she had never given up on him. Was willing to wait an eternity if need be.
Well, that made two of them.
After stuffing his face at the first restaurant they'd come to, they headed back to his apartment.
Lucian packed up he and Kane and returned to his place, leaving Vex completely alone with Alea. And, Kat, of course, who had meowed non-stop since he walked through the door. Purring like a freight train as she rubbed her furry body all over him.
A few hours later and he found himself fed, showered, ridden hard by his fairy, and lying in his own bed. His living blanket of female flesh sighed with exhausted contentment, placing a kiss between his pecs before settling her head back into place.
“Have I told you lately how much I love you?” he asked, rubbing her back beneath her delicate wings tented over them.
“Yes, about 5 minutes ago,” Alea giggled. “I love you, too, sexy demon.”
“You gonna search for Sevin before you fall asleep?”
“Absolutely.” He could feel her face shift into a frown as she answered.
“You want me to leave you alone so you can concentrate?”
“Absolutely not.” She squeezed him as if she would never let him out of her sight again. “I'm so relaxed, it’ll be easy for me to fall into a trance. Unfortunately, as much practice as I've had lately dream walking, I've gotten really good at it.”
“Alright. If you need me,” he said, kissing the top of her head, “I'll be right here.”
“I know and I couldn't be happier,” she snuggled deeper into him.
Letting her do her thing, he lay perfectly still so as not to disturb her. Feeling the weight of her body grow heavier as she fell into her trance, he silently rejoiced simply being in her presence.
Never again would he take for granted even a millisecond of time spent in the Realm of the Living.
A few moments later, she jerked hard against him. Raising her head, she looked up all wide-eyed from where she had been resting on his chest.
“I found him!” she squealed. “I know where Sevin is.”

Note From the Author
Hello Romance-aholics!
As many of us do, I read to give myself a break from the daily grind, and there’s no better way to do that then to get lost inside a juicy romance novel when you’re feeling overworked or overstressed.
I’m a wearer of many hats. I’m a wife, a mother, a female firefighter, a reader and lover of all things romance, and an avid daydreamer. I find writing to be therapeutic, so I indulge whenever I can find a spare moment. Plus, it’s an outlet for my dirty mind. LOL!
I hope you enjoyed Vex: Mythical Ink Series (book 1). This was the first book in my paranormal spin-off from the Exotic Ink Series.
I’m planning future books for both the Exotic Ink Series and Mythical Ink Series. As a matter of fact, I’m currently writing Sevin: Mythical Ink Series (book 2) and Gabriel: Exotic Ink Series (Book Four): A Wicked Brews Romance, and hope to have both of them out in mid-2018.
I hope you enjoy reading my stories as much as I’ve enjoyed bringing these characters to life. I better get back to work, there are so many sexy scenes I have yet to write.
