Healers Suck! Page 10

“Yeah, sure,” I said. “So you were about to tell me the example of that Psionic feedback not working on someone?”

“Well that man who came in and tried to kill you, of course,” she said as though it was the most natural thing in the world. “Clearly he didn’t care for what you were doing. He felt the emotion you were broadcasting to the world and reacted violently to it.”

“I dunno,” I said. “I mean that guy has sort of had it out for me since the first time we met a couple of years ago.”

“Perhaps,” Sefia said. “But in all that time has he tried to kill you, or was that something new?”

“That was sort of a new wrinkle to the whole thing, true,” I said. “But still…”

Though I thought about it. Really thought about it. When Tomas was making his way through the sanctuary he’d been talking about how I was a sick fuck and all that. What if he was picking up on some of the horniness I was projecting out into the world, and didn’t like it?

Even worse, what if he was picking up on it and decided he did like it, but it confused him to the point that he’d decided he was going to do something about it? There was a fucked up thought that I’d rather not interrogate any more than I just had.

“Right,” I said. “So is this something I can learn to control?”

“Certainly,” Sefia said. “But the real test is going to be learning how to use it and when to pull back on this ability. It truly is a wonder!”

“Yeah, well at least I don’t have to worry about that overwhelming emotion I was feeling when I first arrived in this world,” I said. “I think you took care of that just fine back there in the temple.”

Sefia blushed and looked down, but she didn’t seem to regret what had happened. Even if it had maybe only happened because of this Psionic feedback thing getting my mojo and her mojo ramped up until we had cross-mojonations going on, to quote an ancient and learned expert on the subject.

“You sure about that buddy?” Treanna asked.

I looked up at her, confused, and in that moment we stepped through some trees that were close together and came out in a small clearing where Keli was clearly in the middle of fighting off a bunch of monsters that looked like they were goblins, only with a hell of a lot more hair than I ever imagined on goblins.

And she was nothing short of spectacular as she went through that fight. Her magic sword came down time and again on the little fuckers, always keeping them at a distance, and the way she moved in her barely-there robes suddenly had me standing at attention, if you catch my drift.

She turned and smiled at us, and it was the sort of radiant smile that makes someone glad to be a man who was interested in the ladies. It was the kind of beauty that made me want to jump her right here in the middle of the forest.

After we’d taken care of the little hairy goblin monster things that were attacking her, of course.

And I realized in that moment that I was far from out of the woods when it came to this ability. Yeah, really far from being out of the woods.

I wasn’t sure if I should be worried or excited about that, so I shrugged and readied some of my crowd control spells as I tossed Keli a heal.

For the moment I had a game to play. I’d worry about the social link aspect of it when we were done busting some heads.
