Red had climbed aboard Gus’s truck. There was a doubt in his mind as to what he was going to do and for a brief moment he gave up. He opened the truck door to get out and was instantly pushed back in by Gus.
“Don’t be a fool,” said Gus. “I know you were just about to back out.”
“Should I go over there? I’m gonna look a fool.”
“No you aint. You’re gonna look like a man who knows what he wants. Put the key in the ignition. Shut up and go to Ida’s.”
