by Poppy J. Anderson

But as soon as she arrives, she finds herself at the center of the small town’s rumor mill as a host of gossips assume she's flirting with the high school football coach, Hugh Lindsay. Of all people! Her childhood best friend, who was not only her first kiss, but also her first for other things … including her first heartbreak.

Kate soon discovers that first love is like a cake recipe. It doesn’t always work out on the first attempt, but the second time around, it has the potential to be delicious.

  Boston 5

Kyle Fitzpatrick is married to his job. As an emergency physician, he expends all his energy on the welfare of his patients. He’s especially good with small children, going far beyond his duties to make sure his small patients aren’t scared. Of course, that fact constantly rouses the interest of the nurses Kyle works with. Scores of them have their sights set on the handsome doctor, who isn’t wearing a ring on his finger … yet.

But Kyle has his own problems, and they all revolve around an implacable woman named Morgan, who’s standing in the way of happiness in his private life.

Or is it possible Morgan is actually the key to that happiness?

  Afterword

Sometimes a writer is surprised by her own stories. That was certainly the case in the story you just read!

When I began writing this novel, I knew it would be the penultimate installment of my series about the inimitable Fitzpatrick family. I was getting a little melancholic, because I’m not very good at saying goodbye. As someone who has to wipe her eyes when a touching TV commercial comes on, I tend to sit at my computer sobbing when it comes to letting go of my fictional characters.

As happens quite frequently, the characters in this book developed a life of their own, and so Jordan Esposito’s story took a turn I hadn’t anticipated, not in a million years. Her family became increasingly real, important, and interesting. Suddenly, there were further stories forming in my head, stories that clamored to be told as well.

To make a long story short: Those of you who have fallen for the delightful Fitzpatricks won’t need to say goodbye to them after Kyle’s story. Why? Because we’re going to stay in Boston and get to know the similarly racy Espositos.

What can I say? I’m just a sucker for a happy ending!
